Thread number 2 for our August / September 2019 due date babies.

DS is having a regression on nighttime sleep since moving over to combi - seems to want to wale at 1am whereas before would always go through until 3am...

@horehound sorry to hear you are having BF so much. I assume you have tried lots of ways to get him to take a bottle and have no advice as DS doesn't take one either.

However, lots can change with weaning which isn't too far away. Would he maybe take milk from a sippy cup? I have no idea if that's recommended but might be another option.

Horehound · 06/01/2020 09:29

@stroan I can't believe I hate it because I was so determined to do it. But yes, I'm just going to persevere knowing weaning is coming soon so I guess I won't need to bf so much. But then I read online that most calories should still come from breast milk...will see.

I feel so bad about it

THAT90sBITCH · 06/01/2020 09:30

Have you tried different bottles / teats?

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 06/01/2020 09:31

Very impressed with all these rolling babies. Catherine is showing zero inclination atm. But we are pretty pants at doing tummy time. She's also pretty solid so it might be a lot of effort (her sister was a chubby baby and didnt roll until she was nearer 6 months!)
As for sleep, she does really well in her crib - 10pm to 6 am normally - but the evenings are killer, does anyone else have a baby who just wants to be on the boob all evening? I have her glued to me from about 8 until bedtime

Geegrl19 · 06/01/2020 09:47

Hi everyone. been a while since I've been on and just caught up. 4 month regression hit here too. Last night was good, but Nate has seemed to have forgotten how to go back to sleep when he's woken in the night. So frustrating, taken him over two hours to go back to sleep sometimes even though he's so tired. Hoping it passes soon, or is this the new normal 🤔😭

Sorry @Horehound re the breastfeeding. My second DD was like that. Refused a bottle and I was stuck feeding her for the year. Was sick of the sight of my saggy boobs by the end of it! I feel your pain. I'm still going ok this time around , although could also do without the scratchy nails clawing at me and the fidgeting when feeding. Elastic boobs anyone?

Nate has kind of rolled with a bit of help but not very interested in doing so on his own. He doesn't completely hate being on his belly now though so that's some progress.

I'm back at work in four weeks so that's kind of hitting home now that it's the new year. Feeling quite anxious about it really, even though I live my job and everyone there. Just about holding it all together at home so not sure how work will fit in. It maybe it'll do me good?

I'm sure you've all seen in the news too about the fires here at the moment. It's just awful. Is right over the east of the state, but we have all the smoke blowing over given the wind direction and it absolutely stinks today. I haven't even been outside. Those poor people that are trapped , just so awful and scary and no end in sight.

Horehound · 06/01/2020 10:39

@THAT90sBITCH yep have tried loads of bottles and teats. It's so frustrating because he took expressed milk in the first two weeks of his life.

@Geegrl19 yes I'm starting to hate my breasts.
Oh I feel for you having to go back to work. I'm sure you'll be fine but it is a thought isn't it?
The fires are harrowing. It's absolutely incomprehensible what's happening and all the loss of human life and animal life is heartbreaking. What's the feelings about Scott Morrison?

@Littlehouseinthebigcity sorry can't help with the feedings because Arthur doesn't do that but that must be hard and wearing for you. At least she is sleeping well!

Stroan · 06/01/2020 11:07

@Geegrl19 glad you aren't directly affected so far, it's just awful.

@Littlehouseinthebigcity yes! He used to feed at 7.30ish then sleep on me for a few hours. Now he wants entertained and fed until about 11. I'm thinking growth spurt?

@horehound are you trying to give him the bottles yourself? Is he maybe refusing because he associates you with boobs?

Horehound · 06/01/2020 11:12

@stroan weirdly he takes it from me best but by best I mean maybe ten ml more than anyone else. When I was out for cinema on sat I was out for over four hours but he only took 70ml total over two feeds with my husband

Geegrl19 · 06/01/2020 12:51

@Horehound not a lot of love here for scomo (that's what they call him!) I can't stand all politicians, they all talk out of their arse as far as I'm concerned!

@Littlehouseinthebigcity I don't have this with Nate, although his last feed of the day before bed is a bottle of expressed milk to fill his belly up. I think if I fed him he'd just go to sleep on the boob and want to use me as a dummy. Does she always do this, or growth spurt ? 🤔 If only they came with a manual...

Anyone been pinched on the back of the arm yet by their little one yet? Fark, that hurts. Nearly hit the ceiling 🤣🤣

yevans · 06/01/2020 14:50

@Horehound I feel you with the nails. Little razor claws that only seem to get sharper when I try and cut them....

So we've reached a strange point where Ruth is beginning to only settle in dark rooms on her own. I used to have to cuddle her to sleep for every nap! Quite liking this new development!

Dipsy77 · 06/01/2020 15:37

Well yesterday I got my BFP across 4 tests so hopefully ruby is going to have a little brother or sister. I didn't Think it would happen so quickly but because of my age I wanted to have another so they had each other to grow up with. I'm not even 4 week yet so very early days but had to get it off my chest to someone Smile

Horehound · 06/01/2020 15:58

Oh wow @Dipsy77 that's lovely news. Congratulations!!

DustyDoorframes · 06/01/2020 16:13

Aaaaaaaaaah @Dipsy77 !!!! First one back in the water... huge congrats.
@Geegrl19 I've been thinking of you hearing the news, it sounds godawful. Terrifying. How is your DD???
@Littlehouseinthebigcity evenings = milk and telly in this house. Can't remember how long that phase lasted with the other two, but I missed it once it was over, so I'm enjoying it now...
@Horehound grimness feeling like that, you poor thing!!! Are you eating/drinking enough? Oddly sometimes if my body doesn't have enough of what it needs it feels mentally harder to have someone else sharing it.

I'm barely keeping up with the thread, I'm sure I've missed loads of things people have posted! Sorry!

Not ready for back to school here at all. Can I have more hols please???
@Decaf are you doing a zillion uni modules this term too??

Horehound · 06/01/2020 17:17

@DustyDoorframes mm you could be onto something. I definitely haven't been drinking enough fluids recently. Have had headaches every day

THAT90sBITCH · 06/01/2020 17:40
