Thread number 2 for our August / September 2019 due date babies.

DS is having a regression on nighttime sleep since moving over to combi - seems to want to wale at 1am whereas before would always go through until 3am...

DS naps in the pram downstairs in the day, if he stirs after 45 minutes I can usually get him back off with a minute or so of rocking the pram for at least another 45 minutes, quite often longer. Night times he's in the cot until about 5am or so when I take him into the bed with us. Leap 4 / 4 month regression / teething is also ruining our night sleep but knowing this is probably (maybe..) our last baby is meaning I'm not really stressing about it as I know it'll pass.

He is rolling front to back but not back to front at all. He just thrashes around like a turtle on his back, it makes me laugh!

DustyDoorframes · 03/01/2020 17:24

No rolling here! (Only 14 weeks old though). She does try hard to levitate though, pushing up with her tummy and making a gfgfffggggrrgg sound. I think she wants to get up and walk around like the rest of us, but doesn't know how to begin...

Megan2018 · 03/01/2020 17:44

No rolling here yet either (almost 16 wks) but she is very active on the floor now. I’ve been showing her roll but she just laughs or cries.

Dyra · 03/01/2020 21:16

Alice isn't even attempting front to back rolling, but she's getting close at back to front.

After my venting, Alice seems to have received the message. She's started going to sleep, and staying asleep, from about 7:30pm! She's still falling asleep on me, but I'm not going to try self-settling/sleep training until this sleep pattern is much more established. If it establishes.

iano · 04/01/2020 10:50

DS had his 16 week jabs yesterday he's had a fever and I've been giving Calpol. The nurse said I could give 3 doses yesterday He's still got a fever now. Presumably I just carry on giving calpol until he's better? Or is it 3 doses and then contact GP? She wasn't very clear and I'm now a bit confused.

iano · 04/01/2020 10:53

No rolling here either and no attempts.

DustyDoorframes · 04/01/2020 12:29

@iano I'd ring 111 to check, or ask at the pharmacy.
Hopefully he'll feel better super soon!

Megan2018 · 04/01/2020 12:42

@iano
At our 8 week jabs the nurse said to go to walk in with fever that lasts more than 24hrs after with calpol. She said if you call 111 they automatically tell you to go in with babies 4 months or younger.

iano · 04/01/2020 13:58

Thank you both! Glad I asked.

Stroan · 04/01/2020 18:14

@iano how is he now?

Horehound · 04/01/2020 18:21

How you getting on @iano?

I went out for 4.5 hours today with my mum and aunty for lunch and went to see little women at the cinema (was good). First time in ages being out with no baby and it felt strange. But my boobs held up .. full but no leaking. Arthur didn't take too much of his milk i had expressed, wonder if he will ever take to a bottle again!

So I've been reading babies usually master front to back rolling first but Arthur seems to have done the opposite. Maybe I need to do more tummy time but I thought we did a lot anyway.

Also feel bad I haven't gone outside with Arthur in a few days. When dh was at work I was out every day but since he's on holiday we've barely done anything

iano · 04/01/2020 18:29

He seems much better, thank you. Still got a slightly raised temperature 37.5 but he's quite chirpy and it seems to be going down.
Apparently some babies just have a fever a bit longer. They weren't too concerned which is good.

Dyra · 04/01/2020 18:51

Glad your boy is feeling better @iano. At least there's another 8 months until the next set now.

Was Little Women good @Horehound? I love the book.

I've read that about the rolling too. I think Alice not trying is because she's concentrating so hard on despising being on her tummy.

Don't feel bad about not going out. We've barely gone out as well. If anything it's maximising time together. Plus all the baby groups aren't running atm, so I don't want to go anywhere anyway.

Horehound · 04/01/2020 22:38

@dyra yeh it's really good. Funny in places, tears in others. But we all came out saying how good it was. Just a nice film :)

yevans · 04/01/2020 22:47

@iano glad little one is on the mend!

We had our first ever day of velcro baby today. And at a family wedding of all places... 🥴 She screamed every time she went to anyone who wasn't me or DH and calmed as soon as she came back to us. It actually got embarrassing...

Stroan · 05/01/2020 00:26

Desperate to see Little Women, waiting for it to come on at baby cinema and hoping it doesn't clash with our classes.

I did my first bootcamp in a year today - gave up almost exactly a year ago when HG kicked in. I am feeling it tonight, can hardly lift the baby.

Aww @yevans that's a shame. Could she maybe have been a bit overwhelmed/over-stimulated?

Dyra · 05/01/2020 09:42

@yevans They do pick their moments these little ones! I like to think nobody was put out by it, and everyone laughed it off.

Go you @Stroan!

It's weird looking at the Antenatal and Pregnancy boards now. That was us coming through a year ago. Feels so long ago, but at the same time only yesterday.

happydays00 · 05/01/2020 14:44

@yevans that's tough going! I'm sure anyone who has had a baby themselves know what they're like and you have no need to feel embarrassed!

@stroan I'm starting a boot camp next week, somehow I think I'm heavier now than I was when DS was born! I haven't weighed myself but want to drop two dress sizes before the summer! I'm dreading the first few classes 😬

The 4 month sleep regression / teething is still hitting us hard!! DS has gone form sleeping through 5 nights out of 7 to waking countless times and spending from 4am ish onwards in my bed. He's also massively reduced the amount he's feeding, still plenty of wet nappies but he went from 3am to 10am without a feed this morning and then only fed for about 5 minutes. I have forgotten teething completely - does it put them off their food this much?!

Horehound · 05/01/2020 22:42

Our sleep is out the window too. It's tough going.

I've noticed in the last week Arthur feeding but ant time I try and talk he comes off and looks up at me as if I am interrupting him. But he smiles at me then gets back to it so it's quite cute really!

THAT90sBITCH · 06/01/2020 08:34

For anyone struggling with unsettled baby i bought babyDECAF a taggy and he absolutely loves it. He plays with it on his play mat for ages and last night i put him in the cot awake with it and he fell asleep with it (i was in room and movement monitor was also on) I am REALLY impressed with it

Horehound · 06/01/2020 08:45

Oh not heard if this I will look it uo!, Thanks!

Well, I've decided I hate breastfeeding. Kinda stuck though since he refuses a bottle :(
And his scratchy sodding nails. It seems like I cut and file them every few days yet still I am covered in scratches. Not pleasant.
:(

Megan2018 · 06/01/2020 09:01

@THAT90sBITCH
I’ve got one of those but didn’t know what it was called! Got given it with a big bundle of toys from a friend and funnily enough Felicity just started to play with it attached to the play mat.
She has also just started to like her Tigger comforter too.

We are off to the GP later as she has a horrific cold so want to check not bronchiolitis.

THAT90sBITCH · 06/01/2020 09:05

I bought it as he often likes to bring soft things e.g. blanket / bib / my clothing to his face. It has worked a treat

Stroan · 06/01/2020 09:08

DS is really starting to get into toys and seems to like different textures to feel and chomp on! He rolled front to back to get to a toy last night so that might be the start of more deliberate moving.

Waiting for a call back from the GP as his reflux medication has been recalled. It hadn't affected us until now but we got the last bottle in town on Friday. We've got enough left for ten days but will need to move onto something new, which I'm dreading. He does so well on ranitidine and as far as I know, the alternatives work in a slightly different way so switching might be a bit rough on him.

Dyra · 06/01/2020 09:15

Never heard of a taggy before.

Explains why Alice loves her lion toy (has the ribbon tags as a mane). Might look into purchasing one for her. Especially if it can work some magic and help to self settle.

My goodness I'm with you on the baby nails. I swear they grow back the second after I cut them. Nevermind that they're so sharp I could use them to shave. I asked for a breastfeeding/teething necklace for Christmas, and it seems to work. Alice has something to fiddle with, rather than scratching and punching my breast when feeding.
