Morning - am I making this up or does someone on this thread work as a travel agent?
I am trying to find a weekend break to Rome at the end of October, and its all really expensive compared to last year. Do you get better deals if you dont do it on the internet?

geoRGEEweasley · 03/08/2007 08:53

Hi all.
Thanks for your tips re eczma (must learn to spell it), and ideas for the garden. EaH I loved that house!!
Well it's our last day together before I return to work, and am feeling a little strange about it . I'll miss her reaching up to me to be picked up when she wakes from her naps...her giggles when I throw her up in the air..her smelly poos after each feed....someone, please tell me to get a grip!!

Off to a wedding tomorrow. There's a surprise. This one lo is invited to and I am Designated Driver.

geoRGEEweasley · 03/08/2007 08:56

Lizz am not a travel agent but end of October may be expensive cos it's half term?

eandh · 03/08/2007 09:31

laughalot is the travelagent!!

laughalot · 03/08/2007 09:48

Correct it will be mega money because the kiddie winks are off school, any childrens holidays and they are £ £ £ in. Because all the children have the holidays at different times you usually find you have a two week period where they are expensive. If you can go at a different time say mid/end nov try www.coopbreaks.com

Lizzzombie · 03/08/2007 13:12

poo! I forgot about the pesky half term thing. Darn it. Do you know if thats the start or the end of it?

JodieG1 · 03/08/2007 14:27

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=8&threadid=365211&stamp=070803103759#7466386 interesting thread. Hope you're all well, we're still enjoying the sunshine. Off to Hunstantan beach tomorrow

2Happy · 03/08/2007 15:30

That is IT. I have decided that ds2 is just not ready for solids - my normally happy, smiley, chirpy boy turns into bloody Damian whenever food comes near him - and if I ever work out how to do it with my new camera, I'll post the pictures to prove it. I'v tried savoury, sweet, chunks for him to feed himself and puree, and he just wails (and spits the lot out). He just is not interested. I'm going to leave it a few weeks and try again. I'm disappointed because I'd hoped he'd get enough to help him through the days when I work a half day so he wouldn't need any EBM while I'm out. Just adds to the stress of going back to work, since I don't even know if he'll take EBM. I really wanted to experiment this weekend and go out for the morning leaving EBM behind, but dh is pissing off to London for a stag do .

I don't want to go back to work

Lizzzombie · 03/08/2007 17:47

2Happy - my LO is the same. Its making me not want to bother with it. Especially as everyone elses baby seems to be eating bowls of everything around, and chewing on carrots and toast.
I dont understand it. Somehow I have a skinny baby and both myself and my DP are definately8 not skinny.
I think its all about perseverance. The more I try and stuff his mouth full of food, the more he will get used to it. Also, if I sing daft songs to him at the same time, he laughs at me, opening his mouth which means I can stuff in even more. Good luck!

Lizzzombie · 03/08/2007 18:06

WILKIE you have sent the same email 3 times. Enough of the cuteness now. Thank you!

Wilkie · 03/08/2007 18:35

Sooooorrryyyyyy, don't know why it has sent three times?? I am quite confused.

2Happy - what a PITA about food. Just guess you have to keep on trying.

J had his 8 month (not sure why as he is only 7 months) review today and she was very happy with him. He is 19lb (!) and 70.5cm (moving up the centiles with his height but bang on 50th with his weight).

Have had him in the paddling pool this afternoon and I will upload some photos. So sweet!!

Had to go to the GP this morning about my knees - don't know if you remember be mentioning that they were agony, well it has been a week now and I am still struggling to get up and down stairs, they are SO painful. GP prescribed anti-inflammatories and took bloods to test for thyroid and arthritis. Joy.

2Happy · 03/08/2007 20:34

OMFG dh has to go dressed as a gentleman golfer to this stag do so I am currently converting a pair pf charity shop trews to plus fours and he is sporting a terribly fetching flat cap . He's going to get beaten to a pulp!

2Happy · 03/08/2007 20:36

Oh even more PMSL. It's our third wedding anniversary next week - guess what that is??

canmummy · 03/08/2007 21:16

Evening everyone

I'm back from my hols and had a lovely time! Trouble is I'm knackered now and have a pile of ironing so huge I can't even describe it! And now I'm packing again as I'm off tomorrow to see my neice who's 1 and I'm staying at my mum's overnight.

Nothing much to report of my lo. She's not even sitting yet although I'm starting to encourage her more - trouble is her nose just touches her toes then she wobbles over! She's still not too interested in solids but is getting slightly better at it. Hopefully might get her weighed next week as not bothered for ages

I rang the hospital today to get appointment with the paeds re her milk allergy and the earliest they had was 3rd October! I'm a bit annoyed with it really and dh is going to have a word with one of the consultants over the weekend (he works at the hospital) see if she can be sneaked in earlier. Either that or pay to go privately maybe? What would you girls do?

Going to read through what I've been missing - might take a while and that ironing is calling.........

Wilkie · 03/08/2007 21:17

Nemo - she's like a little doll

trixymalixy · 03/08/2007 23:07

Hi everyone, not really been on the thread for a bit as having a bit of a shit time.

Tried DS on hypoallergenic formula and he refused to drink more than an ounce of it and then came up in a rash anyway.

So looks like I'm bfing for the forseeable future. I wanted to give him formula because I'm knackered and need a bit of a break, but looks like that's not going to happen. I would still have mainly bf DS anyway, but feel like it's not through choice anymore.

Canmummy sounds like we're going through the exact same thing at the moment. The earliest we can get seen by an allergy specialist is in 12 weeks time. We have private medical insurance but our doctor couldn't find a private allergy specialist locally. They're thin on the ground apparently. I'm trying to find one myself on here: www.specialistinfo.com/directory.php

trixymalixy · 03/08/2007 23:14

Lizz and 2happy - our weaning is not going well either. He used to let me spoon some food in to his mouth, but then he just shuddered and held his mouth open until it fell out, now he clamps his mouth shut anytime a spoon comes near him. Have given up spoons in favour of BLW as at least some food goes in his mouth!

Dragonhart · 03/08/2007 23:27

Went to see dsis in hospital today and she is miserable there. Has to stay in over the weekend due to high bp and protein in urine and if it stays the same til tue when she is 38 weeks they are going to induce her. Told her that she will prob have it by next fri! She's very bored though. Thanks for the info Laughalot told her about it and it really helped xxx

I had to get her a nursing bra tonight as she had not had the chance to get one before they took her to hospital and the stupid woman in marks refused to give me an idea of what a guide to a size she might go to was and siad that she would be best to use a normal bra in hospital and 'just pull it up' . I realise the ideal situation would be to get her fitted but it really pissed me off that she wouldnt even try to help. Also how the f would that work anyway!? (I am prepared for Lizz to shoot me down )

Hi Trixy and Nemo! Ruth is only tiny too but I daren't get her weighed as the HV kept going on about her weight. She is healthy and doing well, so trying my best not to be bothered about her wiehgt. Pics are cute btw.

Rgee, I got Aveeno on prescription for Luke from my doc so might be worth a try? Also I found that aqueous cream as it made it worse for him. His gets worse in the summer too.

Hello to everyone else. Sorry to hear about the long waits canmummy and trixy, what do they expect you to do while you wait for 12 weeks!?

Wilkie must have been a really hard day hope you are ok today xxx

2Happy, I had to dress DH up for a golfing pub crawl afew years ago and their outfits sound the same! He had fun. Ruth is not bothered about food either, which is weird for me as LUke loved his food form the word go.

VinoRouge · 04/08/2007 05:16

Hi all

Been rushing round like a mad woman for the last 2 days...hope every week isn't like this. So now its 5.14am and I'm wide awake but dh and lo fast asleep. Lo woke me up screaming an hour ago - turned out she needed nurofen but it took me half an hour to decide that was what she needed

Had an eah style cleaning fit on thurs am but only managed kitchen and bathroom. FElt beter for it too and dh noticed.

E is sitting up nicely now and almost over a cold.

eandh · 04/08/2007 05:43

Morning Vin I am here too Hattie still not well so have been up since 4.45am (and thats after thursday night where I only slept 10-12 and 3-5 as she was crying rest of the time. DH in bed asleep and Ellie woke when Hattie was screaming so shes now in our bed with dh.

I am so flippin knackered and fed up, we have my friends dd 1st birtday party this afternoon but one of dh friend is doing a bbq so I know he'll be itching to get awayfrom the birthday party to go to this stupid bbq (dont really like many people going and their house is tiny so its a nightmar with Ellie as she'll want to run around and touch everything, I dont think I'll end up going which will mean Dh will 'pp' round there for a bit and I wont see him till early hours of the morning and I'll be dealing with E and H again I tried talking to him but he said well we're all invited ( yep you sand and talk to your mates whilst I deal with our kids) amyway rant over suppose we'll have end up arguing about it (and the fact that I am so tired means I am very snappy and irritable anyway)
