'pp' = pop
sand = stand

Trinityrhino · 04/08/2007 09:21

morning all,

sorry to hear that your having trouble with getting any sleep eandh.
It does make me feel better though cause gecko isn't sleeping through and on an bad night is up every hour

good night last night though went down at 9 and then only woke at 12,3 and 6 and then we got up....not great but not too bad

I swear I haven't had a straight 5 hours sleep in 3 years. It is definitely affecting me, I have zero short term memory and very low patience. How does everyone else do it?

Trinityrhino · 04/08/2007 09:23

sorry I didn't mean that your trouble make me feel better
I meant that it's not true that every other 6 month old is sleeping through which is what my HV tried to tell me. Not my nice HV the ohte crazy weird one that also told me that I cant just give her a peice of brocolli cause it will scare her

2Happy · 04/08/2007 09:38

Sorry, but just snorted at the computer when I read your HVs remark, TR! Broccoli'd scare her!! Jeez.
Glad ds2's not the only one who seems to think that food isn't actually necessary. This morning he is also randomly refusing my boobs too, so I'm not stressed at all (on top of ds1 going through another hitty phase ). I really wanted to savour my last work-free days, but now I'm just pissed off that dh is on the piss and I'm on my own with the boys again. But by the sounds of it my night was better than everyone else's - at least ds2 slept through until 5.20 when he decided he wanted boob, changed his mind, and I ended up getting up to pump.
God I feel in such a grumpy mood today. If I'd got my cycle back I'd say it was PMT, but I guess I'm just a moody bitch!!

Shimmer · 04/08/2007 09:47

Trinity LOL at your LO being scared by a piece of brocolli Don't we all know by now not to listen to HVs?!?! Sorry you're having trouble with the sleeping though. Don't really have any practical suggestions i'm afraid. Just much sympathies....

I know I haven't been on for a while but i've been mega busy recently and i'm just trying to catch up now. Will do a proper post later but just wanted to ask about car seats. I remember a few of you were buying new ones recently. I think we need a new one too, but since we don't actually have a car i don't want to be spending lots on it. Can anyone recommend a good bargain??(Wilkie... oh queen of bargain hunting... what one did you get?) We'd just use it every now and again in other peoples cars and we have a couple of long trips up north planned before the end of the year, so he'll need to be comfy in it for them.

Off to John Lewis now to buy a paddling pool!

theUrbanDryad · 04/08/2007 09:51

i'm a moody bitch this morning too, fwiw. i got up four times with Z in the night, while dh snored away, usually i would just bring him into bed, but i'm trying to get out of that habit! anyway, as i got into bed very grumpy at 3am, dh said, "I'll get up with him next time," so when Z woke up at 5, dh got up with him and...put him into bed with us!! he's also refusing boob today. Z, not dh. so, dh went to change Z out of his night nappy and Z weed all over him and the bed. dh not happy as he "wanted to go back to bed to get some more sleep." yes, he must've been exhausted from his full 6 hours sleep! i would kill for 6 hour's uninterrupted sleep! anyway, dh stomped off downstairs with Z saying, "Can we (meaning me) change the sheets today please?" when i pointed out how tired i was he said crossly, "Well i suppose you could go back to sleep." i did try to get some more sleep but i was awake by then, so i just changed the sheets, then had a bath.

blardy men

TR - lovely to see you back. i said ages ago that you should pop in and say hi! didn't i? huh? huh? did i read it right that you have got pink hair on another thread a while ago? i'm scared of broccoli too, btw.

theUrbanDryad · 04/08/2007 09:53

Shimmer - think we're getting this one. i can't see the difference between it and the £150.00 Maxi Cosi one! it says it rear faces for from birth as well, so we can use it for the next one too

Nemo2007 · 04/08/2007 10:47

Tr can completely empathise on the no sleep. Havent had a full night since I was pregnant with Adam Now they all just play musical beds and wake up at least once each..but never at the same time!!!

Car seat we have is a britax exlipce, think it was £100 but is rear and forward facing so thats what Chloe is in. Hannah is in a birtax freeway which was £80 from toys r us. Stupidly enough I have been selling car seats on ebay so if I get anymore in I will let you know!

Wilkie · 04/08/2007 11:04

Quick post as J is crawling around the kitchen shrieking and I can't see him.

We have bought this one but second hand off my dsis' mate who is a copper (so I know it hasn't been involved in any accidents). Be careful when buying second hand cos even if the car has been in a bump it can damage the carseat.

Shimmer - EAH has a brand new second stage carseat that she is selling. EAH - have you still got it??

Sorry to hear about the moody moods ladies - in fact, this thread is a little scary this morning.

J is being a moody little git this morning. We are going to my BFs 30th birthday party in a bit so I hope he cheers up.

Right, gotta go, just heard a bang.......

Shimmer I have this one car seat was asking £60 plus p&p but if you want it I can knowck a tenner off for a fellow january bud!!

Been to matalan with both e and h today cause dh was 'busy' fixing is bike actually both were so well behaved H in trolley and Ellie just walked around (although let her pick some hairslides 1st so good bribe!!) got some lovely white linen trousers and peach flowery top which is quite long so hides my flab when carrying Hattie will wear to the party this afternoon and for once I wont feel like a scruff bag

Wilkie I cant reply to your text as my phone is playing up again but I dont think its had any effect in fact the opposite effect, think I may need to go back to GP and see what s/he says

eandh · 04/08/2007 11:56

oh and the thing thats really killing me is that Hattie has slept thru since 12 weeks and its only because she is waking at night cause shes poorly I cannot be doing without my sleep and DH seems to have magical hearing that means he apparetly doesnt hear her between 11pm and 6am (can you tell just how much he is getting on my nerves today)

Wilkie · 05/08/2007 08:02

God it was quiet on here yesterday!!

EAH - you sound really fed up mate, defo get yourself back to the GP. We had our first night of really bad sleep last night after a week of blissful sleepthrudom.

We went to my BF's 30th party and I bathed J at 6pm as per usual and put him down in the travel cot (the plan was then to transfer him to the car when we were ready to go home). Would he go down?? Would he buggery. So he ended up in the buggy in the garden with us until 10pm when he started screaming cos he was so tired but woudn't sleep so we had to leave early . Then he nodded off in the car and we put him into his cot. Fine. Until 1.10am when he woke screaming and screamed solidly until 2.40am. And to top it all off some f*cking numpty a few streets away was doing Karaoke the whole time, REALLY loud. DH went for a walk at 1.30am to see where it was and give them a piece of his mind but thought better of it (thank god) and came back.

The thing that as annoyed me is that we are not the type of parents who take our child with us wherever we go, regardless of time. He has a little bedtime routine which we thought we could adapt so we could stop (on a very rare occasion!) at our friends house but no.

Well, I had a great holiday thanks, not that anyone noticed I was gone OR said have a nice time

eandh · 05/08/2007 11:15

Mrs Carrot- glad you had a good time (oops sorry for not not noticing you had gone think they took my memory each time they took my baby out (had sections with both in case that sounds weird)

Wilkie- made appt for weds on te Drs new automated booking system (v.impressed) feel better this morning had a reasonable night. We compromised over the part/bbq thing I had the hump about we went to part from1-3 came home and walked to bbq and we were there 3.30-5.30 and Ellie was knackered so we came home but then got overtired and took till 9pm to finally settle Hattie nodded off around 7.30 (she had a late sleep so stayed up for a bit) but they both slept till 7.15 and 7.30 so not to bad (ellie did have a sleepy paddy in the night about being to hot but we put fan in her room and she went to sleep) DH for once was actually quite sober when we got in so that made a nice change (normally friends bbq=drunk husbands)we had a long chat last night about how I felt a bit of a skivvy and he had been making an effort today and currently taken Ellie to the park whilst Hattie sleeps.

Neither of ours settle very well at other peoples houses (unless its either of our parents) Ellie will nod off but when we try to get her home she'll wake up and then think its playtime But like Mrsc I remember we always went out with my parents and on holiday would fall asleep on some chairs pushed together and then be carried back in a sleep induced haze.

We are off to IL's later for dinner and then this afternoon there is an air show near where they live so we are going with them as Ellie loves aeroplanes and Hattie wont care what we do

theUrbanDryad · 05/08/2007 11:26

WELCOME BACK MRSC!!! (i missed you, honest! [smille])

had a good night here, Z slept from half 10 to half 5 but then woke up for a feed, nodded off on my boob, then got woken up by dh snoring, then drifted off again, then got woken up by some crows outside the window, then drifted off again, dh started snoring again, drifted off, crows, me by this time wishing for a shotgun for both husband and crows....dh took him downstairs at 6ish, but i was awake by then, went outside and had a fag on the back doorstep to calm down, and yes I KNOW ok? before anyone starts on at me about secondhand smoke, or smoke on my clothes/breath/hands.....it was still the single most wonderful thing ever!

anyway, Z and me managed some more sleep from about half 8 till 10, so i'm feeling a bit less homicidal, and more chirpy.

Wilks - Zacky never sleeps when we want him to, at home, at my parents, so you have my full sympathy. i have found that if he's tired walking him in his buggy seems to help a bit though...

theUrbanDryad · 05/08/2007 11:29

ps - Wilkie, i would've phoned the police if someone was doing karaoke at half 1 in the morning! joyless bastard that i am!

Wilkie · 05/08/2007 15:42

UD - it did cross our minds but we weren't sure exactly which road it was IYSWIM

MrsC - we really missed you!! Actually, I had forgotten you had gone but I blame pregnancy brain which is still lingering....

It is ROASTING here today - in fact I have just bought J back inside cos it is too hot even in the shade so we currently have the fan on and Baby Einstein on TV which is such a shame cos I want to be in the garden!!!

EAH - glad you have an appt. Let me know how you get on.

Laughalot - what is the weather like in Cyprus in May?? We are going on hols with our BFs and their LO next year and are trying to suss the best time to go weather wise. BF DH and LO are redheads so it can't be too hot or they will burn.

Right, off to change the fourth poohey nappy of the day!!! What is wrong with my dear child?!?!?!

BTW - found out today that he lurves cheese on toast

OP posts:
laughalot · 05/08/2007 16:22

Wilkie may will be fine just remember to avoid end of may because of the school holidays as the prices will be expensive. Good and cheap operators that go to cyprus are libra, olympic and airtours have had some cheap offers try them on the website.

theUrbanDryad · 05/08/2007 19:04

bleargh - why are babies so hard to put to sleep? he's boiling hot, to be fair, but i can't open the window cause our chavvy neighbours are having a noisy bbq!!

eandh · 05/08/2007 19:06

Nemo2007 · 05/08/2007 20:41

evening all
thankfully all mine are in bed now but then I have had them all busy again today!! We went to knowsley flower show which turned out to not be a few flowers as I thought but a whole day long event with rides, crafts, dog shows and the like! All DC loved it which was good, Then came home and put up our new tent in back garden [well I say new we bought it in feb but not got around to pitching it!].Then had a water fight with A and H which was fun until I went inside to be greated by a smashed bottle of covonia in the bathroom..that blooming stuff is soo sticky its unbelievable!
