UD - that sounds RANCID. If I really did have an eating disorder, I would stick my fingers down my throat now! ...but it would be a waste of wine! x

eandh · 26/07/2007 20:36

doh stupid me lizz will remember that for future washes (maybe i'll look like helena then?)

MrsCarrot · 26/07/2007 20:42

How funny, I was thinking about car seats today after we got a lift from a friend and F went in their seat. He loved it! He looked amazed, like 'I can see'! I'm not sure what he weighs, haven't been for ages.

Trixy - wow, that sounds dramatic and very scary. At least you know now though, although it's a bit crap that the doctor has to see him react to refer you like you didn't know it was an allergic reaction.

I am busy organising clothes and insect repellent, really hope it doesn't rain like this all week.

theUrbanDryad · 26/07/2007 20:59

Lizz - it tasted ok. just a bit kind of "meh" about the whole experience really.

feel a bit "meh" in general tonight. none of my friends want to come over. i'm bored, and no one will talk to me on MSN.

eandh · 26/07/2007 21:01

i msn you earlier UD and no reply!!! Am around for 10mins if you want to chat

VinoRouge · 26/07/2007 21:09

Oh it was a busy day on here today!

Got home an hour ago after going here there and everywhere. Morning at a friends house whose ds is 4 weeks older than Ellen. Not crawling as well as J though Wilkie. Lunch there then onto baby clinic - Ellen 18lb 13oz. She was 18lb1 on 3 July so slowed down quite a bit. Then swimming lesson, coffee and feed time there then onto wagamama to meet another friend for tea. Ellen was good as gold there, ate her tea and then played happily with the paper place mats they have. Bottle when we got home and straight to sleep.

Dh out on a work night out....said he;d be home by 10 but I suspect it will be more like 12.00. oh well.

Bought nurofen for babies for first time today after being impressed by the dropper thing Wilkie had the other day.

I am off to meet another Mner tomorrow who lives on outskirts of Leeds. I went to a MN meetup at a softplay when E was 3 weeks old so met here there.

I had no idea my car seat went up to 9kg, better think about getting another.I was thinking it went up to 1 year rather than weightwise. More expense....and I want a baby bouncer than hangs off the door thing now I've seen my friends today.....

VinoRouge · 26/07/2007 21:12

Oh and I REALLY wanted to call a boy Frank even though DH hated it. Ellen was breech before she was born and in the 'frank' position, then when I had ice-cream after I gave birth it was 'Franks' ice-cream so I think that was a sign I have to call a boy Frank. Think it would have to be a terrible birth for DH to agree to it though.

Girls - DH wants Dora . I'm not really sure.

theUrbanDryad · 26/07/2007 22:34

Vino - Zac loves his door swing! it's the only way i get to do anything in the kitchen!

feeling much better now - thanks EAH Wilkie and LTH

2Happy · 27/07/2007 07:49

Still not decided on a third and woulfn't have a clue wht to call them!

bollovks, typing left hnded and pumpibg - why am i bolthering, this is just incoherent! sorry! ....I'll go now!

JodieG1 · 27/07/2007 08:13

Hi everyone, I am still alive hehe and haven't changed my name. I've been busy looking for places to rent and buy in Spain which is where we're hoping to move to soon. Not sure why my msn was online as I wasn't even on it, my mum was using it at the time, think it just turned on after logging on. I've been trying to work out all the finances and seeing what tax etc we'd have to pay. We're hoping to keep our house here and rent it out and rent in Spain for 6 months or so to make sure we like it. I'm sure we will but better to be on the safe side.

Ethan is sitting himself up on his own now, still isn't crawling even after being up on hands and knees rocking for weeks! Well, he can crawl backwards lol and gets about by rolling and twisting round so far. He gets all over the room and dining room like this, reminds me of dd who did that for ages.

Lovely and sunny here for a change, off to catch up.

JodieG1 · 27/07/2007 08:38

2happy - when my dd was 22 weeks (that's the last weight I have in red book) she weighed just 13lb 4, she was very tiny for ages but I didn't worry about her weight as she was a happy, lively and alert little thing. My 2 boys have been quick to grow and are big but they're just all different. Ds2 was 19lb 15 at 26 weeks.

Wilkie - ds2 just eats what we eat and it's so easy and relaxing, well as relaxing as you can get with a 5, 3 and 6 month old at the table , just being able to give him the food and let him get on with it. He usually has toast for breakfast, lunch is whatever we're having and same with dinner. No fish and chips yet hehe but he's had chow mein, spag bol, yesterday's dinner was steamed brocolli and carrot which he loves and stuffed loads of brocolli in, potato boulangere which he also loved and baked chicken. I haven't given him chicken yet but will do in a couple of weeks, taking it slow with meat. He needed a bath afterwards as he was covered in veg but he loves a bath anyway. Wondering what to do for dinner tonight now. I haven't given eggs yet either but when I do egg and soldier or scrambled eggs for breakfast too. Hope you're feeling a bit better soon.

Sorry to hear about your friend's mum, don't know what I'd do without mine.

Rgee - maybe she's teething? Ethan has been a bit off the past few days so tried bongela and calpol last night and the night before and he was much happier. I think he's teething too but it can take months for the teeth to come through but they can still hurt. Both dd and ds1 were late teethers so I'm not expecting a tooth through yet but I do think he's teething.

Vino - I haven't had a period yet but I am still bf so who knows when one will turn up. I'm happy as I hate them anyway, usually quite heavy Dh has had his all clear after his snip now so that's something less to worry about. I do wonder whether I'll want another baby in a few years but he really doesn't so I guess this is fair, he didn't eve want 2 let alone 3 lol.

DH - hope you survived the inlaws staying.

eah - that's not very nice is it, I know how you feel as I used to hate indian food but I now like some dishes, my tastes have changed as I've got older. I used to hate spicy food, couldn't eat any of it but now I can tolerate mild ones. They should have been more considerate to you as there ust be plenty of other places to eat where you would all like the food.

LTH - I believe there are ranges of weight so you have to check the carseat, we have a birth to toddler one in one, so I'm not sure. I think we're going to turn ours round soon as he's well over the weight for rear facing. I know they're safer rear facing so we're leaving it as long as possible.

eah - heroes is brilliant, we've seen them all already as dh downloaded them, weren't they already on sky though? Anyway, it's a really good show and i won't give anything away.

I love Freya or Frieya for a little girl, Ethan would have been that had he been a girl and I love Leo or Leonardo for a boy but dh didn't.

MrsCarrot · 27/07/2007 09:57

See you all in a week! I have my wellies, and raincoat, rubber tomahawk and champagne, everything we need.

Byeee

2Happy · 27/07/2007 09:57

Snorkel? Wet suit?

theUrbanDryad · 27/07/2007 11:04

hi Jodie!good to see you're still with us! whereabouts in Spain were you thinking of moving to? i'm very - i would love to have some sunshine!! Ethan's doing really well with the weaning isn't he? Zac doesn't seem interested in solid food He likes it when i load up puree for him on a spoon and give it to him, so i guess i'm a BLW traitor, but he is still feeding himself so i don't know. we're just dancing to our own tune as usual!

fantastic night here - gave Z a feed when i went to bed at about half 11, then brought him into bed with me at 4, and he slept through till 9 o clock!!! i feel like a totally new woman! i think it was cause we both had more room with dh away! Z's nodding off on my lap again as i type. he's so unbearably cute when's he sleepy!

Wilkie - the spider didn't get me, but it was a massive one. i would've been worried for Z's safety if he'd been in the room with me, the bastard spider might've eaten him!!

JodieG1 · 27/07/2007 11:09

Hi UD We're looking at the Valencia province at the moment but it will depend on jobs for dh as well if his work don't agree to keep him on and let him work from home. I've given Ethan yoghurts, cereal from a spoon which he loves too. You just have to do what's right for you and from what I've read a lot of BLW mums use a mix of spoon feeding and BLW. Eating for himself has got a lot easier each day, you can really see the difference with his dexterity.

LadyTophamSortingHatt · 27/07/2007 14:03

ds4 had chicken mushroom pie last night and will be having toad in the hole tonight.

I just serve up a little of what we're having, blend it down and freeze a few portions.

Lizzzombie · 27/07/2007 14:53

I've just had a carpet fitter round for a quote to do our living room/stairs/landing. (approx 9x4m ) Its about £850 all in. Is this expensive? I have no concept of what is expensive and what is reasonable in this department.
Any ideas?

LadyTophamSortingHatt · 27/07/2007 15:10

seesm quite reasonable Lizz...depends on how much the carpet is though.

If its 50p and sq mtre then he's ripping you off, if it's say a fiver then I think it works out a bargian.

eandh · 27/07/2007 15:17

WILKIE is having her carpet fitted today so she'll be able to help you Lizz

LTH - snap Hattie has whatever we're eating (except for takeaway!!) she has M&S chicken and bacon lattice, new pots and veg today (thats what we had last night )

laughalot · 27/07/2007 17:58

Yep thats pretty good lizz

Wilkie · 27/07/2007 19:05

FUCKING HELL!!! We paid £280 for lounge, stairs and landing fitted (30 sq metres). Although that is VERY reasonable. Average quote was around £350-450. Think you should get a few quotes mate.

It looks FABULOUS. I am so pleased with it. And J has already christened it with a pile of puke but you can't see it. Yey!!

Not much to report. Weather has been glorious today.

I'm afraid I won't be making the London meet up. It's just a little expensive ATM (I am on unpaid maternity leave now). Sorry

xx

Lizzzombie · 27/07/2007 19:21

£280?! wow - thats cheap!
Wilks - did you fit it yourself? Did that include underlay?
The carpet man reckoned we would need 36sqm.
Its an independant place in Eastbourne, we are off to Carpet Right this weekend to see if we can't get something a bit cheaper.
The people who lived here before us laid laminate
ontop of underlay
ontop of carpet
ontop of underlay
ontop of hardboard
ontop of floorboards
great! can't wait to work out how we are going to get rid of all that with Mr Champion Crawler on the go at the same time

Lizzzombie · 27/07/2007 19:22

ps - too bad about the meet up wilkie.
Its £23 rtn for me, which is expensive, but I am having London withdrawal symptoms!

Wilkie · 27/07/2007 20:46

It was £280 fitted without underlay as we had some laid already which was in good nick.

Carpet Right have a great selection and I know you can beat them down on the price as my friend did it with them. They have just had a half price sale that finished last week!! (so they can obviously do the carpets at hugely discounted rates).

laughalot · 28/07/2007 09:17

We always use carpet right I thought the quote was pretty good lol maybe not wilkie you are a right bargain hunter. We have laminate in the living room but next year im going back to carpet as my kitchen is tiled and its all a bit cold in the winter so thought we would stick carpet back down.

I am finding it really hard at the minute doing my housework looking after two kids and fitting house work in there just arent enough hours in the day.

Well you all have a great weekend
