ps - i have TWELVE people watching an item i'm selling on eBay, how can i make them bid??

2Happy · 16/08/2007 14:21

Hey all. Haven't heard from Loosh, I am sure she has much more on her mind. But I will definitely let her know you are all thinking of her. Lal - he wasn't ill, out of the blue.

Glad the meet up was fun. I would definitely try and make a more northern one if we ever have one.

Shimmer - try sieving the flour into the butter. I'd never thought of doing it and sometimes had lumpy Roux, but then saw dh sieving it and it does reduce the frequency of lumpy sauce. Plus beating/whisking really hard after the first milk addition starts absorbing really gets a lot of lumps out. Failing that, sieve it after it's made, no-one'll know !

Various relatives been babysitting past 2 weeks (CM on hols) have told me ds2 has been eating baby rice (though nothing else). So I tried some today, even made it with EBM. Nada! Completely refuses food from me. Still can't get over how different he is from ds1.

Right, I am going to see if I finally have enough John Lewis gift vouchers - been saving them for ages and ages from Christmases and birthdays - to buy a Kenwood Chef! How sad am I, but I am sooooooo excited! Not sure it'll help the weight loss - well done Kw3 BTW, very of a size 8!

VinoRouge · 16/08/2007 16:52

Well we all chatted happily yesterday (mums) or smiled (Zac) or ate well (Freddie)so we'd have to deduce that we all got on.

My house has gone on the market today, well will def be by tomorrow and put in a bid on another so fingers crossed it will all work out. I want it so much I'll cry if we lose it.

Wilkie - you're uiet, you ok? What is J up to now?

Ellen hasn't wanted to eat today, not like her so must be down to her teeth.

KWK - size 8 - impressed!!!!

eandh · 16/08/2007 17:49

Vin I was just thinking that about wilkie as tried to msn/text her but no response hope you are okay wilkie

My mobile phone is playing up the 2,0 and character/space keys dont work and its got to be sent of for repiar tomorrow I hate not having a phone so am hoping they'll have a loan one for me

geoRGEEweasley · 16/08/2007 19:10

Evening.
Had a lovely day yesterday. Was great to meet Shimmer and UD (and see Vino, but that goes without saying), and to hang out with the boys! Thanks for being a great hostess Shimmer. Now we need to pursuade Shimmer to move up to York and host a MN meet there
Sorry you couldn't make it EaH (wanted to swap organisational tips) and Lizz (wanted to eat your cake).
Must say Vino, couldn't believe how strong that gin was on the way home...hic...

Dh is playing golf (do I repeat myself?) so I've managed to put a grumpy lady to bed, done two loads of washing and hoovering, before settling myself down here.
Am watching our unused shower pump sell on ebay. UD we have 30 watchers so am counting down!!

Ohhh 2H I love kitchen gadgets. Am at your JL Kenwood Chef. They are the nuts!!
BTW, does it feel like you've never been away from work?

Kat size 8!!!!!!!!!! Pass the chocolate, I need to comfort eat

Wilkie keep meaning to say dh cooked the spag bol recipe on Tues and it was lovely! Pip loved it too so ta for that.
Hope work is not looming too large for you.

A few people have disappeared of late. Haven't seen pcf / dragon for ages (well, it feels like it).

At home tomorrow with the lo - hurrah! Off out with my friend and her two kids (aged 7, and 8 months). Then off to in-laws. DH and I are off to a(nother) wedding - first weekend away without lo. What on earth can we talk about for the entire weekend? And do I opt for a shag or a lie in on Sunday.....I'll go now....

eandh · 16/08/2007 19:11

well if it was me rgee - def the lie in

Shimmer · 16/08/2007 21:23

Evening all. Another evening in on my own tonight. DP worked late yesterday and he's out with a mate tonight and then apparently working late tomorrow as well. Hmmmm.... do you think i should be suspicious?

Thanks for all the macaroni cheese tips. I haven't tried again yet as i'm still recovering from the trauma of not being abe to do it first time! I will try again soon though!

A whole weekend without LO Rgee! Wow hope you have a fab time. We still haven't managed to have a night away ourselves yet (spose DP'd have to come home from work first...) Ahhhhh... the Sunday morning shag... i think i remember them

Dragonhart · 16/08/2007 22:04

Hi all. Had a week off because of all the chaos here.

Dsis' baby is gorgeous and holding her did make me rather clucky, but hearing about the sleepless nights did not!

Luke had his 2 year check on mon, he has been refered to a speech therapist which suprised me a bit as I thought he was doing quite well. Everything else was fine though and he got a load of books and crayons so he was chuffed.

2happy- Thats terrible about loosh's dad. Tell her my thought are with her. Must be so shocking for her.

Glad the meet up went well.

Shimmer, I was making Mac cheese on tue and I have found that the important thing is to add the milk in tiny ammounts to start then as it gets thinner, you can add more. The first few sloshes of milk are the most important then about half way through you can start to pour it in quicker.

Sorry, cant remember anymore. Urban heard anything about the interview yet? How did the appt go Jodie? No thats it. Sorry if I missed anything important. xxx

Wilkie · 17/08/2007 09:56

Hola, sorry been at my sisters for a few days and didn't log on last night.

Too much chatting to remember too much but:

Shimmer, are you serious about being suspicious? If so, other than being out late is there anything else? Mac cheese, as Vino says, make your Rue (not sure ow to spell) by melting butter and adding flour, then add milk very gradually whisking all the tme - I remove mine from the heat otherwise it goes lumpy but my cooker is very hot.

EAH - got your very bizarre text but didnt reply as was preoccupied with twins climbing all over me

Glad the meet up went well - really I couldn't make it

UD - any news on the job and how has Zac been sleeping?

Today is crunch day for DH, he is meeting with a guy whose business he wants to buy so please channel positive thoughts this way - it would be a dream come true.

Latest J installment - he walked 7 steps with his Vtech push along baby walker thing unaided much to mine and DH's delight!!!! [GRIN] > Down side to all this moving is that I need eyes in the back of my head and it is exhausting. So far I have found him eating a cat biscuit, a piece of poo (it had falled out of his nappy and I hadn't noticed, only a tiny rabbit dropping but bleaurgh!!!!!!!!), he fell off the bed, climbed three stairs and broke my mug by pulling it off the coffee table. Hmmmmm, something tells me I need to be more vigilant but it is so hard when I am on my own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will be around a bit today if anyone is chatting on MSN xxxx

katwith3kittens · 17/08/2007 16:16

WOW! Thats amazing wilkie. Loved the poo story, reminds me of the time I found DS1 drinking out of the guinea pigs water bottle. Uuegh. Still, did him no harm, but the guinea pig passed away that

Just had to tell someone about our day. Decided to take a trip out to the Tommy Tippee factory. LO fell asleep in the car and somehow managed to get his thumb stuck in his tambourine. Didnt notice till we got there when I tried to take it off him and he yelled and cried started to panic a bit so went into the factory to ask for help from their first aiders. They were really, really good but were a bit scared to pull it off in case it hurt him and they broke the toy ! ... by this time my stress levels were up and I'm shreeking 'just break it open .. its not like he's ever going to be allowed to play with it again' and then the guy managed to release it and it was all over. CantNo swelling just a faint mark which has gone now.

Just bought a cup £1.50 and a cotton bottoms wrap £2 ( does anybody use these and are thay any good ? )and a zillion purple hair bobbles for 50p as I didnt really feel in the mood for browsing at that stage but I did notice they were selling boxes of Mothercare washable breast pads for 50p .. bargain !

Feel like its time for a glass of wine sitting out in the sun after a day like that but is it too early ?

katwith3kittens · 17/08/2007 16:31

Oh, it was one of those yellow and purple ones from either mothercare or ELC if anybody has one .. take care !

trixymalixy · 17/08/2007 17:28

Hi guys, Just thought I'd make another rare appearance.

I do lurk to see how everyone's getting on, but feel bad posting if I don't have time to do personals!!

We have an appointment with an allergy consultant on the 20th of September, so didn't have to wait as long as 12 weeks thankfully.

2happy - I'm here!!! I'm still not getting on so well with the weaning either although DS did eat a whole pot of pear puree this morning. Was the first time he hs actually opened his mouth looking for more rather than clamping it shut.

I'm really sorry to hear about Loosh's Dad .

Wilkie - WALKING !! Way to go J. Glad my DS is still stationary tho .

hello to everyone else Sorry was planning to do more personals but DH is hassling me!!!

looshkin · 17/08/2007 17:58

Hello all, this is the first time |I could bring myself to do something normal. Dad died on saturday I had just arrived with william and we called to him (mum said he had just gone upstairs) and there was no answer - I went to find him and found him in the bathroom. Unfortunately it was too late I tried to resusitate him but it was clear it was not going to work. The police and the coroner had to be involved which made it all the harder. We have since found out it was a heart attack. The funeral is monday. I think I am still in shock as is my mum she was also there when i found him and just could not take it in and thought he was OK. I think that was the hardest thing I have had to do is tell her he had gone. I am a GP and really feel i let him down I am not sure how we will get through this.

Thank you for thinking of me I know I am more of a lurker than a poster but I do feel one of the jan ladies. I am not sure when i will be able to go home as cannot leave mum but I will pop on the board every once in a while if time.

Lots to sort out

Loosh

canmummy · 17/08/2007 18:51

Loosh I'm so sorry for your loss what an awful thing to happen.

I've been in hospital for the last few days unfortunately. I should have been having a laparoscopy to remove my coil (remember it had gone through my womb when it was inserted?) but woke up to find they'd had to open me up. I'm still very tearful about it all as lo had to be brought home and was expressing milk for her. Also have 6 weeks again of no lifting/driving/working etc. What a shock! More time for MN though I suppose.

Glad you had a good meet up those of you who went.

Wilkie - walking!! My lo won't even sit yet (but she has cut her 1st tooth)

Need to lie down again - it's exhausting just sitting here!!

2Happy · 17/08/2007 19:34

Loosh - dh and I, all my family, everyone here sending all their love x

canmummy - so sorry about your news too, what an awful thing to wake up to. I'm sure a lot of us c/s mums can sympathise with the feelings you have towards your belly being opened, and this new scar and all the pain etc. At least we had babies at the end of it - have you tried swaddling your coil?! (sorry, hope my sick humour doesn't offend!) Hope lo ok

at Trixy

laughalot · 17/08/2007 19:36

Loosh I am so very sorry love to all your family xxxx

eandh · 17/08/2007 20:00

Dragonhart · 17/08/2007 20:01

Loosh- It must have been such a shock for you all. Sending lots of love xxx

Canmummy- How horrible for you. Hope you are feeling better soon. xxx

Kat- Hope lo finger ok. Where is the tt factory though?

Trixy- Glad you got an appt quicker. How has it been for the last few weeks?

Wilkie- One word. Playpen.

Forgot to tell you all that Ruth got her first tooth! Didnt even realise until my mum asked when did she get her first tooth and I looked . She was crying lots tonight at bed time though so has been calpol-ed and put to sleep! Doesnt bode well for a good nights sleep.

No walking/crawling/sitting here though. She is so lazy! If I try to sit her down on her own, she goes ridgid and refuses. If I try to put her on her tummy, she rolls over immediately and frowns at me. I think she can do it all and just refuses. Prob runs around when I am not in the room

Dragonhart · 17/08/2007 20:01

Ooooooh! What buggy!?

Wilkie · 17/08/2007 20:18

Loosh - that is horrific. God, my thoughts are with you all. So sorry.

Canmummy - nightmare!! How awful (although I too share 2H's sick humour )

Trixy - don't worry about personals. I am a bit crap at them too although I love reading what everyone is up to.

We have teething in this household. J has been a cretin all day, really clingy and whingey - bless him . Plenty of Calpol and Neurofen.

Anyone other than EAH work for a bank?? Could do with some business loan advice if you do....am on MSN xx

Wilkie · 17/08/2007 20:20

DH - PMSL. Imagining Ruth as that wheelchair bound guy on Little Britain who runs around behind his mates back when he's not looking.
