canmummy · 05/08/2007 21:36

I'm back from my mum's with 3 exhausted children and am super exhausted mum myself!!

My mum was insistent I stop at her house (even though there was no actual advantage to me doing that) before going to my neice's birthday party this afternoon. So when lo woke up at 5.30 this morning because there were no blackout blinds I wasn't best pleased.

We arrived back at 8.15 and because she was so tired I've had no problem getting her down - I have a strange baby that doesn't sleep in the car she's just done a 2 hour journey plus a stop wide awake

geoRGEEweasley · 05/08/2007 22:23

Poo...I'm back to work in 9 hours.....

eandh · 06/08/2007 06:01

good luck for today Rgee Pippa will be fine in nursery, hope your day flies by (Monday is a work day for me hence why i am up at 6am attempting to get ready before E and H wake up, but I am loitering on here for 5 mins!!!)

kaylasmum · 06/08/2007 08:40

Hi, i've not posted here for ages but just wanted to ask a question, i am breastfeeding josh and started him on solids 2 months ago, i'm just wondering if any of you who are breastfeeding have had a period yet. I have felt like mine is about to come any time now but felt like this for the last 2 weeks. I'm a little concerned as i went for my smear 2 weeks ago, the first in ten years and i'm terrified of the results. I have been getting low down pains like the start of a period but nothing, and have managed to convince myself that i'm ill. Just wondering if anyone else has felt like their period was about to start but then has'nt.

Thanks in advance for any replies,

Tracey.

Morning ladies. Well after a proper hot summer day yesterday it's now raining. Boo! We had a great day yesterday, went to this big fair thing in Regents Park. It was excellent, though was VERY hot and I have pink shoulders this morning! Luckily Freddie didn't seem to mind the heat too much - though I did spend most of the day scouting for shaddy spots and plastering him with sunscreen every hour!

Eah I am very interested in the carseat! If it's still available? I'm going to check them out in the shops today and will let you know by this evening, if thats okay.

Good luck at work today RGee! I've (finally!) agreed going back mid-October. Kind of looking forward to it, but quite nervous about leaving F... obviously.

eandh · 06/08/2007 09:06

Shimmer I am so sorry the lady on the other thread has bought it and collecting wednesday - sorry!!

Trinityrhino · 06/08/2007 09:07

gecko actually slept for a straight 5 hours last night

wooot

MrsCarrot · 06/08/2007 09:33

Kaylasmum- Same thing here, had smear two weeks ao and waiting results, no period yet either but it feels like it's beginning. I think around six months is normal.

Trinity- did you watch The hand that rocks the cradle?

Well, yesterdays baker has gone we left all the unpacking and went to the beach for the day, it was lovely. If you do go, get one of those beach tents, they're fab. F played in in all afternoon while the others enjoyed the sea. Keeps the food and dinks cool too.

Wilkie · 06/08/2007 10:13

Helloha!

TR - yey at little Gecko sleeping for 5 hours (although I still keep thinking you have a small amphibian rather than a baby )

RGee - good luck for today. Hope it all goes well. Am I wierd that I am looking forward to starting work in 2 weeks?? Not sure how long that will last though!

Shimmer - Fair sounds cool! We don't have one in Lincoln

EAH - I agree - bring back the cold miserable weather and quick!! I slept totally naked on top of the covers with a fan on last night (a pretty sight I was not). I was still miles too hot though.

J slept through until 8am after being a bugger to put down. We are on Operation Cot Sleep this week. He is not napping and sleeping anywhere other than his cot!!!!!

Found that he had climbed two stairs yesterday whilst I was in the kitchen and he was just knelt there looking mighty pleased with himself!!! FGS. Although it is cute it is also a nightmare.

Morning all

Just loaded pics on my profile from yesterday

MrsCarrot · 06/08/2007 10:21

WILKIE two steps? he's very advanced

Nemo2007 · 06/08/2007 10:28

oh Wilkie he sounds like my DS was, he was walking by 8.5mths. DD1 was slightly lazier and waited until she was 12mths but think Chloe will be a bit quicker as she is crawling and pulling up to standing. She doesnt get chance to go near the stairs though!!!

eandh · 06/08/2007 10:47

fab pics lal I have removed some toys from our garden as it was getting a nightmare to cut the grass saying that the new slide is hidden at my mums ready for her birthday

Wilkie · 06/08/2007 11:00

Love the photos LAL.

Nemo - our lounge is open plan with the stairs going up the side so it is a bit difficult to stop him going up to them. Think I'm gonna have to get a stairgate at the bottom! I videoed him doing it this morning on my mobile cos my friend doesn't believe me!

It is another scorcher here today - think the paddling pool will be out this afternoon again.

I'm so hot already!!!!!!!!!

Rgee - I've lost track, is today first day back at work? Hope all ok if it is. I found work ok last week but today defo got a 'oh I'm back at work and this is as annoying as it always used to be' feeling.

It was hot here in Leeds yesterday but not boiling at night. Ellen went to sleep without any probs. She'd had a good play on the grass and in her tent. We've got a little life travel cot tent that doubles as a sun tent which she's quite happy in.

ILs were here for lunch yesterday and we all got on ok.

Mt BF and her DP might be moving to where I live which is exciting. BF has Ellen today - not sure who is gonna have most fun!

Oh and Ellen crawled for the first time on Saturday. Just a couple of movements but defo going forward!

Wilkie · 06/08/2007 13:57

Ok Ok I know I am very very sad...

Please will you vote for Jacob on this link here (he's near the bottom on the left hand side). We are skint and need the money (£50) and although I think he is the cutest baby in the world there are some other real cuties on there too!!! Vote for ugly ones in 2nd and 3rd place (PMSL I am evil).

P.S. Happy to return the favour each month for different people on the Jan thread

MrsC - welcome back, I did nearly post "where has MrsC gone?" but I keep nearly doing that, only for that person to come back and I realise they've been on holiday but I've just been crap and forgotten they'd said that's where they were going!
UD/eah/Wilkie - you're all welcome to come and visit, if the hot weather's too much for you since it's clearly a southern event (part part not, I remember ds1 in the summer he was born, waaaay too hot)
Nemo - the flower show sounds a great way to entertain the kids
RGee - hope today's going ok
kaylasmum - hey really good to hear from you again . No periods here, though ds2 not eating solids. But with ds1 I didn't get a period until about 8 or 9 months, and then never had another one (the next one didn't arrive on time, and a couple of weeks later I got pregnant!)
TR - congrats on the sleep! I hope you managed to sleep and weren't so shocked that you couldn't drop off!

Well I've had my first day back at work today . Only cried a little in the car. Then some damn fool when I got there said "how are you?" - well of course that was going to set me off snivelling! Still, 10 minutes later and I didn't have time to snivel - I'd forgotten just how busy work is and how hard it is to cram everything in especially on the days I only work a half day. The good news is ds2 managed to wait for me to get home for a feed, which is a huge relief. I don't think he'll manage every time because I got away pretty early today, but it's still nice. A lot of people told me I'd lost weight, which was pleasing until I realised half of them hadn't seen me since I was 36w pregnant so I'd bloody hope I've lost a bit!!! Nice to be home again, now. I'm knackered - ds2 didn't sleep brilliantly and there was the most immense thunderstorm overnight (dh said "what thunderstorm?" this morning - slept through the lot!). But it's not raining for a change so I think I'll cut the grass.

I did watch the hand that rocks the cradle and it was FAB

I was absolutely gobsmaxcked at the evil nastiness of the scary woman and was hiding behind dh at the end but WOW I loved it

{grin]

theUrbanDryad · 06/08/2007 17:49

Kaylasmum - no period here eiither, though like you i've been feeling like it might come anyday now. have had cramps etc as well. i'm only weaning very halfheartedly though (though my new regime starts this week!!) and Z still has a feed from me every 3 hours or so...

what's the hand which rocks the cradle?

dh brought Z back asleep yesterday and he slept till 1am, then went right through till 7! feels like we might be getting somewhere, if only he wasn't such a nightmare to put to sleep!!

geoRGEEweasley · 06/08/2007 18:29

Left work at 2pm to go and see lo at nursery. She had a really good day and a lovely smile for me which was nice, and work was gentle, but I'm a bit knackered now. Still recovering from wedding no 2 at the weekend and now have big sore throat.

DH is going on a stag do this weekend so no lie in and rest for me ahead, although it does mean I can spend all my free time on MN catching up!
