You did not need to share that information Holly!

loonylovegood · 25/07/2007 19:37

Sorry! SO far I have had a crazy chocolate trifle thingy and a fresh cream chocolate swiss roll. No wonder I'm so bloody fat!

derlor · 25/07/2007 19:53

loonylovegood · 25/07/2007 19:55

Yesterday my mum came round with a bag of M&S food for lunch! I was very pleased!

Wow, I get side tracked for an hour and its chat central on here.

Holly, I would love to tell you that it was me being so thoughtful, but sorry No .....I haven't even got around to sending you that wee suit yet (mind you, its not exactly been the weather for shorts has it?)

DCs both in bed again, DD chuntering at the walls (she has her mother's inherent madness I fear), DS with a flea in his ear again; for the third time today I've had to take Em off the boob to go and attend to him and his whinging, shouting and attention seeking. Counter productive I know, cos he got the attention he wanted, but Em was getting upset

Derlor, I thought it would be nearer 12 weeks for my boobs to regulate. It's all new this as I never got this far with DS

Sputnik can we have some of your weather please. I'm off to the east coast on Saturday to stay in a tiny tiny cottage..we need nie weather or we'll all be miserable crushed in together. Do you think that's your run of illness for the year? you seem to have had a run of it! Baby sputnik sounds like he's thriving!

Think I may be kick starting my weight loss programme.....I've just eaten a ready made curry and some rice which has been opened in the fridge since Saturday. I couldn't really tell whether it smelt off or not, but there was nothing else to eat and I couldn't be arsed cooking. I'm sure it'll be OK!

Foxy, I hope your ducts are clearing, its not nice.

Hi there everyone... any room for a newbie? Feel like i am intruding a bit as you guys all seem to know each other really well but have a lovely little baby (Layla)- 4 weeks old today - and no friends with babies / people to chat with who are in a similar situation. This seems like the perfect place to get a bit of advice and share the ups and downs etc. This is my first baby and whilst being so exciting I have no idea what I am doing half the time. (Nothing new there though!!) So would be great if I can infiltrate your den of iniquity! Feel like I am applying for a job! Did i get it?

daisyandbabybootoo · 25/07/2007 20:02

LOL finky, of course you're welcome, the more the merrier

Right, mine's a cup of tea with a little milk and no sugar.....Well, the new guy always gets sent to make the tea!!

Congratulations on the birth of Layla....that's a lovely name

foxybrown · 25/07/2007 20:11

hello finky! welcome. congrats on your little girl - love her name too!

how are you doing?

finky · 25/07/2007 20:11

Thanks - had a nightmare choosing names. Couldn't agree on anything -thank God it wasn't a boy as all we ould vaguely agree on was Indiana after Indiana Jones! Maybe next time. I think the teas gone cold!

loonylovegood · 25/07/2007 20:13

Welcome finky! Layla is a lovely name. I used to have a friend called Layla, she was wonderful, I used to call her LaLa!

How are getting on then finky? Are you getting the hang of it now? FF vs BF, real nappies vs disposables.

Sorry just being nosey!

finky · 25/07/2007 20:16

It's all going pretty well thanks - lots to learn and getting used to the lack of sleep - back in the old days i.e 5 weeks ago I could and would sleep for England! So adapting to lack of sleep is interesting - particularly as the lovely Layla likes to feed every hour and a half some nights! She's generally a pretty good baby (I think - not much to compare her too!) But evenings can be interesting as she gets a bit grumpy and not sure what's wrong!! (i.e now - off I go to rock / change / feed / talk stupidly too in as many different voices as I can whilst pulling the stupidist faces ever.)

finky · 25/07/2007 20:17

bamboozles and BF. Every ten seconds! Both going well so far.

derlor · 25/07/2007 20:20

hi finky > looks like you got the job then!
i love the name Layla, you know i don't think there are any doubler names on here are there?

daisyandbabybootoo · 25/07/2007 20:21

LOL finky, mine is seven weeks now and it is getting better!

Charlie999 · 25/07/2007 20:23

got my CLBB book and busy reading and digesting.....I'll have to find a pic of her - I have an image in my head of Barbara Woodhouse (is that what she was called?) - that's her style of writing . Reminds me of the nursery nurse in the hospital "you CANNOT use wipes!!"

Hi Finky, everyone

Back tomorrow x

derlor · 25/07/2007 20:24

Daisy, your holiday cottage sounds FAB, are you excited? 1st time holiday with the 4 of you

foxybrown · 25/07/2007 20:30

Derlor - any top tips for a blocked duct?! Tried all the usual things (hot pack/massage/ feeding/).

sunshineandshowers · 25/07/2007 20:35

WOW, you guys do alot of chatting!

Daisy, Trendaverter, Charlie999 thanks for responses. Have upped his food to 6oz now and he has drained the 3 bottles I gave him today, but will monitor for a few days. I think he takes after his large rugby playing dad.

routines??!!"$$ that is impressive talk!

finky · 25/07/2007 20:40

Thanks Daisy. Any tips / suggestions for getting her to sleep longer through the night or is that like asking where the pot is at the end of the rainbow?

finky · 25/07/2007 20:40

derlor · 25/07/2007 20:41

oh Foxy - poor you
best thing is feeding (her not you!!!!) feed in as many positions as poss to drain from every area. Best position is to have LO's chin pointing to the sorest part of your breast as the sucking will be strongest here aiding drainage.

massage from the top of breast to your nipple, do this as often as poss and as firmly as you can tolerate. put warm face cloth on your breast before massaging to help with drainage.

you can also take anti inflammatory meds to help x

derlor · 25/07/2007 20:57

finky - best way to get LO to sleep at night is to keep her awake as much as poss during the day, frequent nappy changes will help to waken her up if sleeping too much when you are trying to keep her awake. also don't wrap her up all cosy when trying to keep awake x

foxybrown · 25/07/2007 21:02

hi sunshine, and welcome too!

sould say that Derlor is our very own resident HV, and very good she is too!
