Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
scootermum · 15/08/2007 21:22

No..I eschue (sp?)the famous five in favour of the people who live in 'The magic far-away tree' That moon face geezer is well up for it!(Actually I find The Magic Far Away tree a bit trippy)

NEVER TRIED GIN?Someone pass April some Bombay Sapphire sharpish...it will change your life...

Now once and for all Im going to bed..have been doing M's bottles which I forgot about...god I hate sodding about with the bottle brush every night..

largeginandtonic · 15/08/2007 21:52

Not had a G&T oh April...............you have been missing out. A night out is in order methinks.

I did the tent thing and all 6 children, surely i desreve a gold star of somethin?

Must really eat somethin now, gin going to my head

ArtistFormerlyKnownAsSOH · 15/08/2007 22:18

Being a sad ol' tee-totaller have never had gin either but Dylan Moran informs me it is less a drink, more a mascara thinner.

LWandLottie · 16/08/2007 00:16

Ah now I'm either a Jack Daniels and coke or Martini and lemonade kinda girl. Mmmmm, Martini

Me and mum have just done a before midnight shop to Tescos. Sodding baby milk has gone up in price and the nappies aren't on a 1/3rd off deal anymore. Just as well I stocked up so much last time I was in, or I woud have been really angry!

Have just had to order some Playboy pump style shoes off ebay for my sister. God how I hate playboy, find it a bit chavtastic! She's going through a huge Playboy faze, everything down to clothes, shoes, bedding, pjs, bags and jewlerry. She's Playboy bloody mad, I wake up in the morning and all I've got is that frickin bunny staring at me! GAH.

Bought a maxi dress off ebay too, that one from next that was advertised everwhere and has now sold out, cost a fortune but I don't look right in it. Have 2 stone to loose before my holiday, got to get serious about it as well. So thinking about sighing up to a fitness place that does a 30 minute workout 3 times a week. Just thinking about it is making me want to go and get my 6 pack of crisps

Pebblemum · 16/08/2007 01:14

I was annoyed about the price hike on the milk to LW, I go away for the weekend and it seems everything has gone up in priceAlthough saying that i bought some new Avent bottles from Boots today and they had gone down by almost £2 from what the ticket said so I was happy with that

Where in France are you going Cam? We have done several 'caravan' holidays there. MIL used to work for Haven Europe (now Siblu) and so she got all the holidays really cheap Now though she just shops around.

LG&T when we go to spain in Oct there will be 8 kids and 8 adults flying, think we may end up taking over the plane lol. DS1 loves flying, ds2 never stays awake long enough to know if he likes it or not and only wakes up when we land, the rest of the kids have never flown before so im hoping they will like it otherwise it could be a very long flight

I suppose I should go to bed, have got hairdressers tomorrow at 12.30, still not sure what to have done, ive narrowed it down to 4 options ranging from short to long and layered. OOOH decisions decisions

cameroonmama · 16/08/2007 08:43

Pebble we are going to Chateau des Ormes in Dol de Bretagne and then Trinite Plage on the west coast, have you been to either? I know the campsite in Dol is enormous. Have you got any hot tips? I used to work as a Eurocamp rep in my Uni holidays and I always had a ball, it'll be weird being a customer

Scoot - how are the sheets this morning?

Lupins71 · 16/08/2007 08:58

Scoot happy anniversary, how long u been married, lol at my gold sheets!! omg at your tesco trip - i have forgotten the formula a few times, thank god for cartons and steri bottles, but sounds nothing compared to your nightnmare, dd dialed 999 when she was little - got told by a very cross pc to make sure the phone was out of her reach

LGT hehehe at hugo and the sudocreme, your lo's are soooo cute,

MJB good to hear from you - I too find it hard to post everyday now, but do read along

LW&W zapps are awful!!! thats all i will say on the matter, I too am a pramaholic = Arlen is on his 4th lol!! will have a think, am not keen on maclarens ect, would say a micralite but they dont lie down, unless you get the carrycot with it - or what about the vista (think thats what its called) in babies r us

SOH Im with you on the sleeping baby thing - think arlen was waking up about 4 times a night before i started giving him food, I was reading that hv's have been really misinformed on the whole weaning thing, if you stick to baby rice and fruit or veg purees then they are fine, Arlen is having 2 meals a day - thats savoury and pudding and still scoffs 6-7 big bottles each day, it has made a differance to his sleep as he wakes up twice and if i give him his last meal at 5ish then he has been known to only wake at say 1-2am

AM hehehehe even willow is laughing at ella being sick on dh - large bottle of bombay in my cupboard, you dont know what your missin!!

AbbyLou · 16/08/2007 09:47

Hi all. Goodness me some of these toddlers are really getting up to some stuff aren't they? I must admit we've been pretty lucky with C, he's a really good boy most of the time. I'm sure now I've said that he'll turn into a demon!
R has at last found her thumb so I'm hoping we can gradually get rid of the dreaded dummies. I know some say that a dummy is easier to get rid of later than a thumb but it looks so much cuter than a great big piece of plastic shoved in her mouth!
SOH, I'm another one sticking up for the cm camp. C (and R soon) goes to a fantastic one. She is an absolute angel and C adores her. She does so much with them and they are out all the time at toddler groups, the pub, wacky warehouse, cafes, parks, craft groups, shops, the library etc. He does more socialising than I do. It is lovely becasue there is another girl exactly the same age as him and others at other times. He adores the older kids who are there before and after school and I like the way he can play with children of all ages rather than being put in a room with only children of his own age. He has got so much out of going. Unfortunately there are great and awful nurseries and childminders so make sure you do your research carefully.

Pebblemum · 16/08/2007 10:35

Cam havent been to either of them ones, you will have to let me know what they are like.
If ever you decide on a trip to Disney or Parc Asterix i would recommend staying at La Croix Du Vieux Pont, its a lovely park, lots of lakes, swimming etc. It even has a small 'beach' in the centre of it and its close to both the amusement parks! If you fancy going somewhere a bit warmer La Sirene or its sister camp L'Hippocampe in the South are both gorgeous, a bit of a walk from the beach but theres a land train you can go on (great fun), they also have proper shows ie Lion King, Blues Brothers, Grease, performed by proper singers/dancers, not the normal camp entertainment
Holland is another great one, its called Duinrell and is a campsite/amusement park in one and has plenty to suit all ages.

In case you havent already guessed i love these type of holidays

LWandLottie · 16/08/2007 11:06

Mroning all

C didn't wake until 9:30 this morning, and didn't have a feed during the night either! Am trying to not get over excited about it, as she seems to be more thanm making up for it now! She's in a lovely mood and very smiley, but if I leave the room she starts screaming!

Not much else to report, got to go and get showered and ready, go and collect my new phone from the postal offices. C's playmat things is still not here! She apparently sent it recorded delivery on the 5th. I'm starting to doubt this however

scootermum · 16/08/2007 12:09

Sheets not too bad!Legs look very dark though..like that episode of Friends where Ross goes in the tanning booth and gets sprayed about 6 times on his front and not at all on his back! Not such a good look..

Well done Lottie.hey you never know LW that might be it, sleeping through cracked...

Will catch up properly later..Lily is yelling 'ham' at me which I take to mean that she wants some luncheon..

ArtistFormerlyKnownAsSOH · 16/08/2007 12:38

"HHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!"

Does that mean I get luncheon too ya posh bird? No idea how to talk to you now. Er... gosh, shocking inclement weather we're trifling with at present, is it not? I said to Flo over elevenses, the orchard is awfully damp, the gardener's having such an ordeal with his gold-plated scythe.

OMG, what new hell is this? Supermarket Sweep. Dale Winton's been at your tanning stuff Scoot. Can't wait to meet you lot, bronzed goddesses that you are. I am possibly the whitest person you will ever meet. I don't tan at all due to an extremely dull medical condition. I do, however, burn as soon as the temp gets over 12 degrees apparently and have to wear factor 50 on cloudy days (hence the big straw hat- stylish and practical!).

LW how have you got weight to lose? You're what, a size 6 or something? I have tried fitting an exercise dvd into my day but the feeding machine that is my offspring is having none of it. I am managing 100 situps and 25 press-ups a day and a bit of yoga of a morning. It does nothing but reinforce how out of shape I am. I will persevere though and one day, in months to come I'll have the body of...er... a slightly less podgy person than I am right now.

Oh and I'm with AM. That ain't camping. Camping is stuck in a tent, despising everybody around you, rain lashing down, forced to play scrabble until your eyes melt and drinking lukewarm tea that heated up in 20 minutes on your primus. Poor ol' M will be subjected to family cycling holidays, backpacking, youth hostelling, camping and hiking. I like holidays where you don't see anybody else for two weeks and you wake up to a bleak, desolate view of a farflung place that no other rational person would ever visit. Bliss.

cameroonmama · 16/08/2007 13:44

Listen here you lot with your 'that's not camping', when you have camped in the Serengeti with your precious firstborn only 6 months old, no guard to protect you, dh's old camping equipment and nightfall at 6.30pm, flashing your torch in the eyes of the hyenas to keep them away and praying when dh says casually 'oh that sound, yes that's the sound a leopard makes' that the article you read years ago about leopards snatching African babies isn't true, THEN you can lecture me on camping

April I hope your dh has recovered from his ordeal, I think I would have vommed too

Don't mention the weight loss thing or exercise...the only exercise I get is taking 2.5 children on at least an hours walk every day to keep all of us sane. Thank goodness J likes being in his Bjorn borg, but its starting to make my shoulders ache!

Just off now to check how many egg cups we get in our mobile home

aprilmeadow · 16/08/2007 19:06

Evening

Had Ella weighed and she is 12lbs 13.5oz at 18weeks. She has fallen below her line but the lovely HV said that it was possibly because she was going longer at night (went from 7-7 last night) and the fact that she is more active. Legs going all over the place and flinging then up in the air in a bid to roll over.

Cam, its not a competition . However on this occasion i will let you win Also, how can you still carry J in his BB, Ella kills my shoudlers and i doubt she will be in it much longer.

cameroonmama · 16/08/2007 19:23

April I can still carry J in his BB because I am built like a russian shotputter

How do you get a baby to like going in his buggy? Oh no, wrong people to ask, I forgot you are all buggy- aholics, now you are going to try to persuade me to buy another buggy now aren't you?

J has cried ALLLLL afternoon, I only had a very very mild curry yesterday but it must have been that

cameroonmama · 16/08/2007 20:01

Hello?

You must all be off doing fake tanning and drinking G&Ts or something..

Pebble - how did you get on at the hairdressers?

aprilmeadow · 16/08/2007 20:20

i must be one of the few that has kept the same buggy

aprilmeadow · 16/08/2007 20:21

ooh yes pebble, what style did you opt for?

no g&t here but have had a nice cold beer

ArtistFormerlyKnownAsSOH · 16/08/2007 20:31

Hey I've kept my travel system thing too. It was a freebie and I can't afford one of these fancy PeterandTeddyHaucksterQuinn whatsits with extendable whatsit and sun thingy. However, M has been in her pram approximately 6 times since birth, I prefer to use a sling as I don't drive and couldn't bear faffing on the bus post-cs.

Cam I think J and M are psychically linked, she's been a right old grumpus this afternoon. She doesn't cry but has been doing her version of it and it sounds a lot like 'mehmehmehmeh' in a pitiful, bottom lip out, whingebag way. Only content when feeding today. Eventually took her on a route march to the shop, bought Dairy Milk and route marched back just to get out of my house and into the Outside World. She's currently lying on the sofa trying to get a whole bib into her mouth whilst making eyes at DH.

Off to eat a vat of chilli and watch a dvd. Tis very quiet on here today.

Where is everybody? (said in manner of that advert, you know, the one with the animals and stuff, go on, you know what I mean)

[gavebirthtobrain]

aprilmeadow · 16/08/2007 20:37

just stuffing face with bag of haribi micromix - yumm yumm

aprilmeadow · 16/08/2007 20:38

i mean haribo - too much sugar

SKYTVADDICT · 16/08/2007 20:44

I've kept my travel system too but will probably have a buggy when he gets a bit older. We have a sling but I haven't even tried it - got it quite cheap at Nearly New Sale and will probably sell it their again.

Been busy today doing washing and ironing for DDs to go on hols with their dad on Saturday.

Have been keeping up and was shocked to read earlier about the weaning at 16lb thing. I am really trying to keep him until 26 weeks and will hold out as long as poss. He was 15lb 3oz last week and for the last three nights has gone from 10pm (ish) to 7am. He is probably about to have his last feed now so will see how long he goes tonight.

Nothing much else happening here so will sign off for the night.

Pebblemum · 16/08/2007 22:00

Evening

i too have kept to my original pram, my dh would kill me if i told him i wanted another one after all the fuss i made about getting the exact one i wanted lol, plus ive been sticking up for it whenever dh has said its too big, bulky whatever. We do however have a lie back stroller for those occassions when we need to go out in the car (my lovely pram wont fit in the boot very well )

What a disaster i had at the hairdressers!!! I got in there (its a very posh looking salon) discussed what i wanted, decided on a shoulder length layered look, chose the colours i wanted, dark red with high and low lights, etc, the stylist was very helpful and then disaster struck. She discovered i have......visitors aaarggghhhh!!! How embarassing Its only a few eggs but it was enough to prevent them from doing my hair today. The stylist was very nice about it even though i was dying with shame and told me to re-book next week when i have got rid of them. I have never been so embarassed in my life. My boys havent got them, i check regularly, and so i either got them from the children we went on holiday with or the neighbours kids (who did in fact have them the other day but I didnt think id got close enough to them to catch them) Im now sat here with rancid smelling gunk on my hair to get rid of them.

To make things worse Ive been invited round my sisters for drinks tomorrow night and everyone who will be there knows i had hairdressers today so will be expecting me to turn up looking gorgeous and when i turn up with the same long lank hair they will want to know why

In order to recover from my embarrassing ordeal im sat here with a large Bacardi and coke (sorry cant drink G&T's)watching Elvis {{{swooon}}} I know hes dead etc but boy he was gorgeous when he was younger. I feel bad about ogling him though as ds1's dad looked like a young elvis and it feels like im really ogling him IYKWIM

LWandLottie · 16/08/2007 23:08

Oh Pebble for you. Don't worry about it, it's just one of those things. The hairdressers will see it all the time, sorry you couldn't get your hair done though. Could you just say to your friends that you had had an alergic reaction to some shampoo or something, so the hairdressers weren't comfortable colouring your hair today. And that you have to wait for the irritation to settle before getting anything done?

SOH, I have 2 stone to loose! Before October I'm in all my size 10 clothes but the state of my stomach is ghastly, no joke. Jelly belly central here, covered in stretchmarks, as are my thinghs, boobs, hips and bum. Don't understand how I'm in size 10 when I have put on so much weight, but there you go. To make matters worse my sister is getting skinnier by the day, size 8 stuff is swamping her, though me and my mum are actually really worried because she isn't eating....anything. I asked her what she had had to eat yesterday and her reply was 'loads.' I said what? She said 'a slice of toast and a banana!' We are trying everything to make her eat, nothing seems to work. Doctors is the next step.

I'm not big on camping, I like to be able to shower and smell nice and do make up and eat food that hasn't taken 4 hours to cook over a gas burner, which just so happens to be noodles lol. I'm a hotel girl through and through. Oh and don't even get me started on having to pee in a bush. How I ever made it through Reading Festival a couple of years ago I still don't know!

I got my phone and it's luuurvely! Also had 3 parcels arrive today one of which was this for Charlotte. Only problem is it's quite big so we are gonna need to drop the cot mattress down, which my dad was not overly keen on!

Right first attempt at a link so shall hope that it works!

LWandLottie · 16/08/2007 23:14

Oh and for anybody that's interested, on your first order with Vertbaudet you get £10.00 off - if you are a new customer. Plus they send you out a free welcome pack, that includes their catalogue and more vouchers! I love their stuff. Wants it all I do

Chuffed I did a link.

Tattoo tomorrow, getting really nervous.
