aprilmeadow · 14/08/2007 09:23

ooh, what time are you heading down there? NO i havent tried their smoothies yet, but the thought of a donut is very tempting, even though i am trying to be good. I have 9lbs that i want to lose before October as we are going on a 'Company Holiday' with all of the guys that work for dh and i dont want to look like a wobbly mess!

ArtistFormerlyKnownAsSOH · 14/08/2007 10:20

I don't know if I'm more shocked by the sex swing chat or yet more accusations of pornagraphic attitudes in my direction. I am whiter than white, snowlike, virginal, chaste, pure, untouched and frightfully shocked that anybody could think otherwise. Scoot and LG&T may be harlots extraordinaire but I wouldn't know as I spend all day every day in my turret doing needlework and singing sweetly.

Scoot, btw, how much do I love guttersnipes as a putdown? Must ease that into conversation as many times as possible today- will phone MIL later, tee hee hee.

LW, be kind to yourself. I still can't work out which way is up most days. Keep an eye though. If you really do feel that you can't cope, have obsessive thoughts, lethargy, numbness, sadness, frequent tears, some, all, none of the above etc, perhaps have a chat with your hv or gp. Mathilda doesn't have sticky out ears but she does have extremely pointy ears which she gets from me. I think we're half-elf possibly. I do own an inordinate amount of clothes with long pointy hoods and floaty bits. DH says I look like a wood elf, but that's probably only when I'm in one of my costumes.

In terms of toys, it's hard to say really. Mathilda likes to talk more than anything. If she can see a human face then she's happy to coo, chat, squeal and giggle for hours. In fact the only way I can get on MN is to angle her bouncy chair so she can see me. She likes her gym thing because she can swipe and shout at the dangly things and has just about worked out how to pull the dangly butterflies (attached by velcro) off it and put them in her mouth. She will look at toys and smile at them as long as I'm waving them at her but doesn't seem to make any effort to pick up rattles herself. She will pick up anything cloth or fabric like and suck it though. She likes anything noisy too, her bouncy chair has a sun dangling above it and if you hit it it plays Row Your Frickin Boat so she will hit that repeatedly until mummy smashes and breaks it. I did read the other day that by 3 months she should be picking rattles up and shaking them but dismissed it as crapola. She has learnt in the last few days how to roll from front to back and as such cannot be left unattended for a second- back to front she mastered weeks ago. Oh and she loves books, I read them to her, she stares at the pictures and slowly leans forwards until she can suck the corner of the book. Great fun. Three Little Pigs is her favourite because silly mummy does great huff and puff noises and looks like a prat.

Morning all.

LWandLottie · 14/08/2007 11:11

Re toys. Charlotte doesn't really have any yet. I didn't buy her any cause they would just have taken up sapce and she wouldn't have bothered with them until sort of nowish. She has a bouncing chair which she like because she's really nosy and likes to be sat up watching everyone. Have got a winnie the pooh light show that plays music and she loves it because of the lights. Have now bought her one of those kick and play piano things that you put at the end of their cots. She seems to like it and kicks especially hard when it plays old McDonald had a farm!

I'm still waiting for her cot mobile to arrive and have ordered her a winnie the pooh playmat thing of ebay. Don't know if she'll take to it or not. She just likes people doing silly noises, and likes to watch stuff. Especially likes music! Like mother like daughter

Oh and on the subject of periods that I saw further down the thread, I've had mine twice! But they were only something silly like 2 weeks apart. First was really light, second was really heavy. Guessing it's just regulating itself again. Can someone tell me what af stands for, it's always puzzled me!

Crikey...anyone want a toddler for the day?Lily is in mean mood today..turned round for two seconds whilst she was eating her lunch and turned back to find that she had tipped a fromage frais and some raisins over her head..I beg of you..Mae thinks its very funny.I do not!

DH has just sent me a huge bunch of flowers though for our Wedding anniversary...he even got the natural meadow flowers that I like best special off the internet..feeling guilty because he is away so I am a lucky girl today in terms of gifts, but would much rather he were here..He also bought me a top that I said I liked when I saw it in Grazia, which is a big deal for DH, One to pay attention to what im saying re any kind of clothing, two, to go a womens shop alone and buy me something and in the right size at that!

scootermum · 14/08/2007 12:48

Hand washed your sheets Lupins?Oh because your washer is bust y'mean? Was thinking you must have sheets that are made of gold or something..try cleaning the filters..my washer didnt work for ages, but cleaned the fliter, got a large button and some smalls out of it and its been ressurected!

AbbyLou · 14/08/2007 13:28

Just a quickie to let you know I've finally added some up to date pics of the kiddywinks!

LWandLottie · 14/08/2007 13:33

LG&T - I don't get it! Am I being thick?

T-mobile just rang me and they are sending me out a new upgrade for my phone, a PINK Nokia 7373!

Right am off to shower and attempt to look like a human being, got to get down and weigh C at the clinic and also sheepishly lie to the HV's as to why C has missed her jabs TWICE! 'Oh no, I didn't forget. I never recieved anything about the second set.....' Oh and I have to book a smear test

largeginandtonic · 14/08/2007 13:46

Hehe LW, not being think, just a text follow on!

Scoot thats normal isn't it? I left Hugs to answer the phone this morning and when i returned he had tipped his choco flakes in to the potty, milk and all and was eating it out of there with a spoon Luckily the potty was clean and sterilised from our failed attempt at potty training a couple of weeks ago.

He has also hidden my perfume insert for the plug in and yestarday he broke in to my room and washed his face in my scrubby face wash, cue much screaming from him about his eye's hurting and much laughing from me with a told ya so. He squirted sun cream in his eye's 2 day's ago. It is never ending.....

LW good luck at the clinic today, swarm of bee's the HV are.

ArtistFormerlyKnownAsSOH · 14/08/2007 16:01

Oh happy anniversary to you my dear Scoot! Honestly lovely, I meant to say earlier and was very neglectful. Are you doing something on dh's return? Was the weather better than this when you got married? I walked down the aisle during a thunderstorm, actual claps of thunder as I locked eyes with DH for the first time on our wedding day. Prophetic maybe? Tell us about your wedding, it's mandatory to reminisce about it today.

AbbyLou, just been having a nose at your beautiful children and noticed you're in Long Eaton. My Grandma's lived there for about 50 years! My Mum grew up there and I was visiting a few weeks ago. Next time I'm up there seeing Grandma I'll holler and we can have a cuppa if you like. Got other family around there too- Borrowash, West Bridgford etc. The wedding I went to last month was at Thrumpton Hall!

Sorry LG&T, should really make it clear what I'm prattling on about.

Pebblemum · 14/08/2007 17:17

Afternoon all

We had a great weekend away. Hardly saw ds1, he was off doing his own thing most of the time and as our chalet was right by the outdoor playpark ds2 was able to play in it as much as he wanted while us oldies sat on the balcony watching him so he got a bit of freedom too. Alana, as always, was brilliant and loved all the attention she got from the bluecoats.

Ds1 won a tongue twister comp. He had to say 'One smart fellow, he felt smart, two smart fellows, they both felt smart, three smart fellows they all felt smart and they all felt smart together' one guess what all the kids were saying instead The prize wasnt that great but the look on his face was, especially when he was mobbed by 5 girls as he got off the stage. Anyone witnessing it would have thought he was a star or something, unfortunately the girls were the ones who had came away with us but if you didnt know that you would have thought ds1 was extremely popular lol.

The beach across the road from Pontins was lovely, all sand dunes (and weaver fish but luckily none of us found them)Again we lost ds1 he was in the sea all the time playing with the girls, ds2 just sat making sand castles, flying kites and generally running around and Alana just sat watching everyone. After feeling the wet sand in her toes she decided she had had enough and promptly fell asleep. Dh was in an annoyng mood and after throwing buckets of water over all the kids he thought it would be funny to fill my tankini bottoms up with sand while i was bent over checking on Alana

We may have only gone away for the weekend but i had enough washing to do on our return to make it look as if we had been away for a month, am now dreading our 2wk holiday in October, i may still be doing the washing from that at Christmas!!!

The weather was great all weekend so what has happened to it today, its like winter again

Will try to catch up with the thread later but at the moment I have two boys harassing me, ds2 wants to go outside in the rain (I dont think so!) and ds1 has just came back from his friends moaning hes hungry. Im sure Alana will join in soon too as it is nearly feed time. Think i need another break lol

AbbyLou · 14/08/2007 17:34

It's a small world SOH, I'd love to meet up next time you're over this way. I have only lived here just over a year, we lived in Derby before which is where I met dh at Uni. It's quite handy being slap bang in between Derby and Nottingham as there;s loads to do but it's nice to still be in a small town. I actually grew up in a small town called Market Harborough in Leicestershire so that's my real home but LE is beginning to feel like it.

LWandLottie · 14/08/2007 18:00

It's official - Charlotte's a biffa! 11lbs 13oz!

ArtistFormerlyKnownAsSOH · 14/08/2007 18:06

AbbyLou, you're on. I was born in Derby City Hospital! My parents were living in Mickleover at the time...

Pebble, sounds like you had a fantastic time and chose the right time to go before Arctic conditions descended.

LW, that's petite. My 15lb 10oz bruiser (at the last weigh in) would squash your ladylike C I'm sure. Gah, thought I would have a dainty little thing and I'm actually nurturing the next Pavarotti.

AbbyLou · 14/08/2007 18:21

SOH both my two were born at Derby City - fancy that! It's changed a lot in between the two though. Ds was born in the old maternity unit and dd in the brand spanking new one!
I need some advice. On the advice(!) of my hv I put R onto hungrier baby milk over the weekend because she suddenly seemd to be waking in the night again and going less time between feeds. She has been fine until now but today she seems to have been constipated and spent an hour and a half screaming this afternoon. I gave her lots of water and cycled her legs for 40 minutes(!) until at last she managed a more normal poo. My question is do I carry on with this milk and hope she gets used ot it or do I go back to what she was happy on? WIth ds he had SMA and when I changed him to hungry baby he was inredibly constipated so I changed him to C&G hungry baby and he was fine. Because of this I started R on C&G but the same seems to have happened. She seems fine now she's pooed and I'm hoping it was a one off.

scootermum · 14/08/2007 19:51

Similar happened to my friend with the hungrier baby milk Abby..she perservered but he didnt get any better so she switched back..but I guess they are all different..maybe try another day or so then see?

Our wedding was lovely SOH..It rained solidly for three weeks before and the marquee nearly collapsed the day before but the day itself was sunny and lovely..we had our reception in the grounds of a small manor house, Eyam hall, which has very cottagey gardens and is so pretty..all my staff from work came up for the day (the first time most of them had left London!) all in their Nigerian traditional dress which looked fab and certainly turned heads in the Peak District! We had an indie disco in the evening and everyone got absolutely wrecked on the very strong cocktails we laid on which was the whole idea...Am watching the DVD as I type..cant believe I was ever that thin...or that glam..till I spilt a glass of red wine down the front of my frock but that was late on so it didnt matter much in the end

scootermum · 14/08/2007 19:59

Glad you had a nice time Pebble..where do you go in October?

Love Hugs God help us if Lily and he ever get together..

I have failed totally today as a functioning Mother..we ran out of milk, formula and nappies so off to Tesco we go..Thought long and hard about how to get kids out of car and into trolley without one of them getting wet through in the rain whilst I got the other out..(no under cover area at our Tescos)Genius!I parked next to a trolley park thing with a cover so as to put Lily in under that where I could see her, then leave her in the dry whilst getting M out..Wrestled with L who was having a serious paddy and after 10 mins of her screaming like a banshee got her in the trolley, hair got wet and began to swell..went to get M.She was covered in poo as was the car seat..had no change of clothes for her...wrestled L back into car sustaing a foot in the nose in process..went home, changed M, got both kids back into car, L screaming bloody murder..got back to Tescos..realised had left purse at home...Called my friend, close to tears..she took pity and agreed to mind Lily whilst I went home, (5 miles) to get purse, and went to Tesco...dropped Lily, went home for purse, went to Tesco, M now screaming as starving, picked up Lily...Feel ruddy knackered....both bathed, bedded and asleep now thank God...
Needless to say my hair looks something akin to Sideshow Bobs off of the Simpsons..

scootermum · 14/08/2007 20:02

No distance from me Abby when Im at Mums..only half an hour to Derby from where they live which is out Chatsworth way...(actually it is Chatsworth which is why im such a posho )

cameroonmama · 14/08/2007 20:09

LOL Scoot at the Tesco's escapade Sounds very familiar, just add in one extra child and 20 quid higher grocery bill due to extra fruit flakes, sugary cereals, rip-off yoghurts etc.

Knew I'd seen you somewhere before, must have been you and the nanny running around the grounds of Chatsworth when I used to go there as a child.

largeginandtonic · 14/08/2007 20:18

Oh Scoot ive had day's like those! I would have bought an outfit in tesco for M and cried to a staff memeber for sympathy

Your wedding sounds lovely, how nice to have a DVD of it all. I seem to remember someone videoing ours but i have not seen it yet. I spent the day dodging photographers, i hate having my picture taken. That is the main reason i never wanted to get married!

Hugo reached new depths of naughtiness this afternoon, i am posting a pic on my profile to demonstrate, think i may crack open a beer.

SOH twas my speed reading that confused me not you Did you know that when babies reach 16lb they are usually ready for weaning regardless of age. Is she watching you eat with intent to grab it out of your hand yet?

Have put them all to bed, B still yelling, Hugs grumbling and DD being an angel. Im missing the twins though

I bought a bargainous buggy from ebay a few day's ago, will link it. It was £50!! Beau is bored in his carrycot and i dont like the material of the seat unit for the Mutsy so im selling it. The new buggy is lovely, fab board on it for Hug's and he can lie in the basket underneath too.

Right will put pic on profile and link buggy, must eat soon too. B goes off like a rocket whenever i make something!

largeginandtonic · 14/08/2007 20:31

The little beast is on there.....

Here is the buggy

juliewoolie · 14/08/2007 20:36

hi all,

been lurking the past couple of days but had to post a huge at hugs and Lily.

Am attempting a very early night as his lord and master has taken to waking again 2 times a night and last night at 4.30 decided he wanted to stay awake and not sleep

Night, oh and hello to everyone.

scootermum · 14/08/2007 20:54

Waaay ahead of you on the beer Largegandt...I mixed myself a generous gin and slim the minute I put Lily down..

God alone knows how you ladies with more than two do it..in fact God alone knows how to do it with two, because I sure dont!

Hugs is so cute though, you have to give it to him really...

M woke up at 4 this morning which is most unlike her, so my sympathies Julie..she only wanted a cuddle though but then couldnt get off to sleep afterwards...I forget she is only 10 weeks old sometimes and wonder what on earth she is awake for...duh because she is a tiny baby...Lily has no such excuse however

Off to bed now..night all, mind the bugs dont bite..
