Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
largeginandtonic · 13/08/2007 15:24

I have added some recent pics to my profile page. The picnic one is when we were camping, it didnt rain for about 20 mins.....

LWandLottie · 13/08/2007 15:49

Walking is far too much effort! Especially when dragging a HUGE parcel all the way down to the post office. Went onto the sunbed for 6 minutes, back again on Wednesday. Must be tanned lol!

Yes but AM it's now got to the point where I go looking in my house for things to sell! My whole de-cluttering phase is gonna leave me with nothing but a mattress and some baby nappies!

LG&T - pictures are lovely, your little chap is very cute. As are all the other babies, why do they have to go and get big?! I like mine small.

SKY, do you mean you are paying your CM at the minute and she isn't even looking after C? Is this just so that come January you have a place for him to go?

LWandLottie · 13/08/2007 15:51

Oh do any of the May babies have ears that stick out at the top? Charlotte looks like she's about to take of bless her!

SKYTVADDICT · 13/08/2007 16:49

Yes LW. I was surprised but she is also taking a retainer until next March for a baby that isn't even born yet. I thought it was the norm although the more people I tell the more people think I am daft but she was really nice! She said that the NCMA recommend taking half fees but she has agreed with us both that we only pay quarter fees. She says she will look after him before January (on his days) as it is his place.

I feel all milked out. Have been trying to do nothing other than rest and feed C but expressing 6oz at breakfast seems to have knocked me for 6 and there doesn't seem enough milk for him at each feed. I am nearly that desperate I will probably feed him the 6oz I expressed earlier! What a waste that would be as it was supposed to building frozen stocks!

I thought babies were supposed to be happy to lie and gurgle and kick. Why does mine like sitting up and looking at everything and cries when I try to put him down? I have even resorted to the Bumbo which he seems to like for a short while but I think they are recommneded from 4 months.

My Mum is coming soon to look after him and DD2 while DD1 and I go shopping. I can't be bothered to take us all.

SKYTVADDICT · 13/08/2007 16:49

Oh and no sticky out ears here, soz!

aprilmeadow · 13/08/2007 18:39

LW - i do the same!! I eye it up and try and think if we really use it/need it etc and then put in my 'to ebay' pile!!

Ella has ears that stick out quite a lot. From the front they dont look so bad but from the back it's a different story.

We have to pay a deposit of 15 quid per day that we want Ella to be booked in for nursery.

I need to start building my supply of frozen milk as i have booked a day to the Sanctuary Spa in Covent Garden. Going on the 30th Aug with my MIL. Was an Xmas present from DH. Am having an aromatherapy body massage, facial and pedicure. Just need to get the milk stocked up. Very hard to guess how much she is taking in one feed.

scootermum · 13/08/2007 20:21

Thats quite correct..one is in fact exceptionally posh..one can hardly believe one has been slumming it for so long on here...

Mae's ears dont stick out that much, (despite us being related distantly to Prince Charles obviously-we are 20th in line to the thrown and thus a cut above you guttersnipes )..but her feet are freakishly l-o-o-ong..

I did all the baby lessons with Lily and am not really doing any with Mae, poor thing..largely because Lily would have to come too and TBH she didnt love them first time round..I spent at least 7 out of 12 baby massage classes walking round outside trying to shush her as she screamed, with the massage teacher giving me evils through the glass door!Although we did do the feet lesson and I still do that with both of them now and they do seem to like it..

Right, one must get back to one's evening repast..cheery pip..

ooo er have got a man round for tea tonight who isnt my husband, and my husband is out...have already seen Deborah next doors curtains twitching...I love scandalising the village!

scootermum · 13/08/2007 20:25

I went to the Sanctuary when I was pg with Lily.Lovely...although I dare not try to get on the famous 'Sanctuary swing' as was so mahussive I thought I may break it...

Im off to The Treatment Rooms in Brighton in three weeks..then for a weekend on the lash with my two friends down there...Im so excited..but I dont know what to have done in the spa..dunno if I want anything that I have to get too naked for IFSWIM..I look so grim at the moment that I dont even want to be seen by a trained operative!

MKG · 13/08/2007 20:42

Well I've been bfing in between throwing up lately not fun. Ds1 is also sick so that's that. So much for my vacation.

I haven't had time to read up on everyone but I hope all are well. I can't wait to go home. I never though I'd say this but I miss my dh.

I miss my bed, and quiet of my house (my nephew screams all the time) He's 14 months and screams when he's hungry, done eating, happy, upset, angry, in the car, at bedtime. Pretty much he screams all the time.

My mom and sister are annoying me. My mom keeps bugging me to lose weight (Hello, I can still count how long ago I gave birth in weeks, give me a break) I told her that I am exercising but I won't diet until I'm done bfing. She then asked how long I'll bf for to which I replied "Until he's one and then switch to regular milk" Makes sense to me, she just gave me a nasty look.

Oh well screaming baby patrol. Have to figure out which one it is.

AbbyLou · 13/08/2007 20:45

Whilst we are on the subject of parts of the body sticking out it made me think about somethng that has been bothering me. Is it normal for a baby to have a really bit at one side of the back of their head. R's head is normal on the left but very flat on the right, the side she turns her head when laying. I'm sure you'll all say it's totally normal, at least I hope you do, but it bothers me every time I look closely at it. You can't tell from the front but from the back the 2 sides of her head do look considerably different.

largeginandtonic · 13/08/2007 20:49

'sanctuary swing' Scoot?????????? Is that not some sex aid thingy?!

That will get SOH on here, hehe.

Mine are all in bed and have been since 645. The two big boys were whingy creatures and Beau joined in for good measure, grrrr. DD is the only one still awake but being mouse like as she knows im on my hissy limit

I am 2 down though as the twins are away so really is a doddle.....

I get nothing when i express, B eats it all. My stock consited of 1oz in 2 weeks, he guzzled that in a nano second.

My sister in law has her hen weekend in 2 weeks in Oxford, swanky hotel, beauty treatments, dinner out then on to a club. It would have cost about £200, needless to say im not going and B would have had to come anyway so por are my expressing abilities!

largeginandtonic · 13/08/2007 20:50

Who is this mystery man Scoot? More importantly did he bring you wine and chocolate?

largeginandtonic · 13/08/2007 20:55

Abbylou it sounds like simple moulding of the head, babies heads are very soft (for sqeezing out the birth canal and rapid brain growth) they can look mishapped for a while. It usually corrects itself, or hair grows to hide what usually only you can tell is different. No need to worry

Scooot????? Come on please....

scootermum · 13/08/2007 21:20

I think babies get a flat head when they lie on it at night sometimes Abby..quite common, my nephew has it..they grow out of it I think..Or you can buy a pillow thing if you are really worried....am sure it will be fine though..

Sanctuary swing could be used as a sort of sex swing I suppose..but its ladies only in there so depending on your persuasion you might not get very far..You can walk about in the nuddy if you want..I refrained as everyone would've been sick on seeing my then, (and lets face it, now) whale like appearance!

He's DH's best friend from school..he has recently moved to the next town along to us...nothing to get excited about im afraid..although I did snog his twin brother once when I was 15 which gives me quite odd de ja vu at times!

When can you go home MKG?It doesnt sound much fun at all...My Mother is on at me about losing weight as well..I asked her politely when she was going to lose some? That soon shut her up

Well this time three years ago I was having my last night of freedom in the Bulls Head, before going home for an early night prior to getting wed...O little did I know what was to come..three years later,Im up two gorgeous girls and two flippin dress sizes...for the giggle I got my wedding dress out this morning...I can barely get my arm in it never mind the rest of me!

Off to get ready for Bed now..M asleep in her chair downstairs so will have to shhh, go very quietly and slowly upstairs to bed...what the betting she pipes up before im two steps up?

Lupins71 · 13/08/2007 23:08

Hi All (skulks in and waves sheepishly) sorry i havent been around, and havent caught up, as they said in school must try harder!!

Anyway my mum has been here spoiling me which has been most lovely and needed, I now have a mobile phone again yippeeee, and havent had to cook all week, anyway she has abandoned me and now im feeling pants - dp is no better and i am struggling to be sympathetic, am finding it really trying, fed up with his lack of life, and lack of helping with my life blah blah blah!!!

Anyway on a cheerier note, my not so little Arlen is 13lb 11oz amazing

Had to get a new cotbed off of ebay they other day, went to get the old one down, dd used it as a toddler bed then it went in the loft and we couldnt find the cot end arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! luckily picked up a really nice one for £15 about 7 miles away, he looks so little in this huge great bed - also my hoover and washing machine arent working and my favorite Roxy sandels broke, why does that happen

Right tomorrow if i get 2 minutes i will try and catch up

AM did you have a nice holiday???

LWandLottie · 14/08/2007 00:37

Oh AM I'm glad I'm not the only crazy ebay addict around! My mum caught me eyeing stuff up in the house earlier and said 'if you even think about it.....' in her stern, parent type voice.

Scoot, I knew you couldn't be that posh - naughty sex swings and all eh?! You joining ranks with LG&T and SOH to become a triple porn star act or something? I ask you, innocent thread about our bouncing babies, I think not! Kinky librarians, affairs with dh's bf and sex swings, that's what! Jees

Sky & AM, sorry but that is quite shocking about your childcare. You must be in either a very busy, London type place, or there has suddenly been a rapid outbreak of women producing babies where you live - all of whom need babysitters. The worlds gone mad!

Abby, the head thing sounds perfectly normal. I'll second what LG&T and Scoot said. It'll just be becasue her heads still very soft and her skuull needs to harden into place etc. C's got loads of soft spots and I'm always worried my fingers will poke into them when I'm putting clothes over her head!

MKG I'm sorry your not having a great time being away from home. Nothing worse when all you want is to be in your own surroundings, in your own bed - and you can't be.

Lupins glad you had a fab time with your mum, nice to be spoilt. Good to hear A's really coming on.

My mum called me in for a chat earlier. She found cigarrettes in my bag and asked if everything was ok (stopped whilst pg, started again 2 days ago). I promptly burst into tears telling her that I feel like everyone is laying into me a wee bit re exams, Charlotte, doing the wrong thing all the time etc. She appologised, think she felt really bad. She's dead stressed out having to return to work and I think thats been the reason for it all. Feels good to clear the air with her though, but I still feel really down. Don't know if it's just a bit of mild depression or if I'm still in recovery from having Charlotte. I want to be a good mum, and I think I am but when I have my down days, they are just really bad. Maybe things will perk up now that me and mum have talked

C's ears are quite bad. My family have all nicknamed her pixy! But they are really soft so I'm hoping that when they harden up a bit they might, ping themselves back into a more normal possion lol!

scootermum · 14/08/2007 08:14

Her ears will be fine!Dont be hard on yourself..I think you probably dont realise with a new baby just how tired you are and also quite how anxious you are to make sure this little totally dependent thing is fine, (this will sound patronising but esp with your first).Couple that with the fact that you have had a huge lifestyle change and your hormones are still a tad messed up which lasts about a year apparently, and you are bound to have a few dark days..I had quite a bit of this when I had Lily but only now I look back on it can I see that these were the reasons why..If you think its happening too much then talk to us, your Mum the GP, but FWIW I think you are doing great!

Now Im off to look out my leather pants in preperation for SOH, Largegandt and I's first porn-cast..

Although I seem to have woken up in October..its ruddy cold, wet and actually dark here...bloody weather..now this has thrown my V festival wardrobe planning into a tailspin..

SKYTVADDICT · 14/08/2007 08:31

Like Scoot says dont' be too hard on yourself LW. I am having days like that with number 3! Everybody thinks they know best what YOU should be doing and it is pants! Plus I'm sure her ears will be fine bless her.

Welcome back Lupins, you don't sound too happy either!

C had to have the 6oz of expressed milk at 10.30 last nigt so that was a waste of time. I had fed him at 6.30 and 8.30 as usual and put him to bed at 9.00 but he woke at 10.30 which is not normal and I wasn't up to feeding him again so I gave him what I had expressed. Think I will only have to express 2oz a day to try and build stocks - or resort to the cartons of formula (he had one a few weeks back with no repercussions and DP had to open one saturday night but he only needed 2oz of it!)

Going to be out a lot today and tomorrow with DDS but will try and keep caught up. Already feeling knackered at the thought of all the visiting/gymnastics/shopping and train journeys I have to do.

Lupins71 · 14/08/2007 08:40

Scoot the weather is only like this for 2 days - leather pants will be fine, how are you feeling now are you all recovered??

LW totally agree with what scoot said, think she covered it - and you are doing a fantastic job, is easy to get down, being a mum is tiring, stressful, demanding, worrying, let alone all the other changes you have been through - sending you a bug hug

Flippin weather - had put all my hand washed sheets on the line yesterday afternoon, bet they are wetter than when they went out,

I beat up dp in my sleep last night - in my dream he was attacking me, where on earth that came from i dont know - hes just not like that, anyway in my dream he was and i was fighting him off and elbowed him really hard in the chest - next thing i know dp is going arghhhhh what the hell you doing, and i had elbowed him really hard for real ooooppppsss!!!!!

Have a lovely day all, i am looking forward to a house day, when mum is up we are here there and everywhere, dd needs a restful day i think

Lupins71 · 14/08/2007 08:49

SKY enjoy your days out and about

Quick question for you all, are your babies into toys, dd was really into her play mat and gym and rattles and pretty much everything really, Arlen isnt, he is quite happy to lie in his swing staring at the lights - he has just become a bit interested in the rattle at the side - but only the red one, put him on his mat with the gym over the top and soft toys around and theres no interest, just wondered if this was a boy thing or if he's still a bit behind (which im sure is some of it) or if its a 2nd baby thing - i dont have as much time to play as i did with dd, he is alert and looks around lots, just curious as to how much the others are doing?????

aprilmeadow · 14/08/2007 08:53

Morning

Hey lups, good to see you Will have to get a date for meeting up! WOW at A's weight!! He is about 1lb heavier than Ella now - can you beleive that!?!?

I have managed a whopping 1.5oz of milk when expressing this am!! I figured that i didnt want to take too much at each sitting as i dont want it to bugger up the supply for the rest of the day, as knowing my luck she will want to feed a lot.

aprilmeadow · 14/08/2007 08:57

lups, i would say that it is possibly a bit of everything - not much help i know. I am quite lucky as Ella was almost term, so isnt too far behind, if at all. I find it helpful to go on to the babycentre website and see what the development should be for birth age and also for gestational age and then plot her somewhere in the middle.

SKYTVADDICT · 14/08/2007 09:05

Lupins - C is like that. Quite happy to lie under his gym if someone is laid beside him but otherwise its the electric swing all the time staring into space. I feel a little guilty about putting him in it but we all speak to him as we pass!

Lupins71 · 14/08/2007 09:07

Thanks AM, with dd i was always on babycentre lol!! will go for a visit, we are going to the oracle on thursday if you are about - they have a man mad beach, we went the other day its really cute, strapping men helping with pushchairs as well!! anyway on thursday they are doing a treasurehunt on the beach - me and dd are using it for an excuse for KK mango smoothy (have you tried one yummy!!) and donuts, cant believe he is heavier than Ella - must be all the fruit/ veg food he is scoffing!! Well done you for still exclusively bf, thats brilliant!!

Lupins71 · 14/08/2007 09:09

SKY ikwym i feel guilty too but he seems to prefer if and like you say its not like he's ignored, at the moment he is snoozing in his swing, seems to find it pretty comfy
