Scoooooooottttt! So glad to hear from you Sorry though to hear you have been through the mill, poor you. Lets hope you are on the road to recovery now. At least the girls were good for you, I think sometimes kids have a second sense when a parent is unwell and they know they must try and be good.

Congrats MrsJB for your friend!

Pebble how was the night out?

It was so sunny here yesterday that we went out for a picnic in a country park and I got sunburned you'd think I would know better after 10 years of living in Africa.

It looks like another good one today.

lillaura123 · 05/08/2007 08:55

cam, whats the trick for that? a spoon fullof vinegar in the bath takes the sting away(and doesnt make you smell due to consistancy - we wee in as strawberry field in that heat yesterday and not a mark on me from sun looks like self tan this year 4 me

scootermum · 05/08/2007 11:20

Scorchio out there this mornng..felt quite well when I got up so put kids in buggy and we have been for a nice gentle 3 miles through the wood..It has knackered me but it was nice to get out and atually be bale to do something with them for nthe first time in ages and DH sure appreciated the late lie..

Teething!I cant believe we have babies on here old enough to teeth..only seems like yesterday we had our first one born..that said M has a tooth coming, I can see it, although very early surely? and didnt seem to notice getting it at all..she is the polar opposite to Lily..the world and his wife know when that one is getting a tooth..

Yowsers, 9.10? Lots of love and Arnica to your bf Mrs JB..

DH and I used to go to Beale park when he was at uni in Reading..Can you still feed the animals?

Slip slap slop Cam...(she says having just been out with no sun cream on at all

Any pie for me Lillaura?I need to build my strength up y'know!
Gaaah, when I was in hosp I ate quite alot of chocolates, sweets and cakes, (and when in hosp in Plym, lots of fudge and pasties, as that was the closest I was going to get to sampling anything holiday alike)Have put back on about half a ruddy stone..

Mrsjaffabiffa · 05/08/2007 14:31

VERY hot here today too. Infact as I'm sure AM will report we have had a baking week of it. Summer is finally here in the Charante it's been long waited for.

Scoot - Don't overdo it lovely. AM sends her love to you from France.

Back to the pool, ttfn.

juliewoolie · 05/08/2007 14:55

scorchio indeed am building a waterfall on my balcony with the watering can

LWandLottie · 05/08/2007 17:05

Hello all

Just popping in quickly to see if Mrs Scoot has returned and I'm very happy to see that she has. Welcome back lovely, take it easy and rest as much as possible.

MrsJB I hope you weren't at me the other day when I said that I didn't like the idea of letting a baby cry themselves to sleep. I didn't mean to offend ANTBODY that uses this method, it's just not for me. Even everyone that I've spoken to about it was a bit and at the idea of 'controlled crying'. But what works for one doesn't always work for another. And there will always be a difference of opinion when it comes to this sort of thing. I wasn't trying to get at anybody or upset anybody, just expressing my opinion on the method.

Charlotte didn't wake up until 6am this morning, hen fed and went back to sleep till 10am. Lie in! Have become a complete slob the past couple of days and really need to get my arse into gear. Have my first exam in Bristol on the 20th and haven't started revising yet, gulp.

Pebble I also dyed my hair last night, it didn't quite go the way I wanted lol. It's safe to say that instead of being a dark brown with a couple of copper highlights, I'm now a mediem brown with ginger streaks that are not even straight! I'll leave it a week before I even attempt to mend the damage.

Hope all are well, x

lillaura123 · 05/08/2007 17:53

enjoy hun!!!

InTheseShoes · 05/08/2007 18:09

Welcome back scootermum! So sorry you've had such crap time, but glad to hear you're on the mend - take it easy though

cinnamontam · 05/08/2007 18:42

Scoooootio...so glad to see you back lovely. Was really worried about you and kept perusing the papers looking for your RL name in connection to an abduction by aliens or some such thing. So sorry to hear about the palaver with your placenta but at least you are out of hospital at the same time the weather has decided to go all summery on us. Take care, rest up and just lovely to have you back.

Hello to everyone else. Hope you have all had lovely weekends and the kids are all doing well.

Tam
xx

juliewoolie · 05/08/2007 20:06

scoot welcome back what a horrid thing glad its all sorted and you can get back to keeping us company on mumsnet.

scootermum · 05/08/2007 21:13

Oh you all are so lovely..
Well have jsut attempted to put Mae down at 7 in the hope she will go till her dream feed and then thru till 7am...it was all going quite well till Lily kicked off and started yelling in her cot, 'Mae here, Mae here', (which are her two new words)-it seems Lily didnt like the idea of Mae being in bed at the same time as her, so then we had to get Lily back up and do stories and bed time routine all over again as she was having a total paddy, then Mae woke up as well...better luck tomorrow I hope!

Phew its ruddy hot here still, 26 degrees in our room according to the nursery thermometer...

Is it ok to give an 8 week old boiled and cooled water?Theres no minimum age for that is there?

The only way my name will get in the papers Tam is if I run off with Ryan from the OC..and the likelihood of Ryan from the OC a)being in Ware, B)looking twice at me in my current state or ever to be honest is zero!Nope your stuck with me for a bit yet im afraid..

I did controlled crying with L, but my dfault really as after 12 weeks of little sleep I basically couldnt muster the energy to keep picking her up one night, left her, and after half an hour she was out like a light..will probably do it with Mae but not if she's going really barmy..each to their own I say! What exams LW?!Oh bless you having to revise with a baby in the background...

uh oh, there goes Lily again..Im hoping its the heat making her act up not a new and horrible phase of toddler-ness..night all..xx

largeginandtonic · 06/08/2007 11:44

Hello everyone!

I have no time to catch up, life is erm....bouncy at the moment. All 6 home and Beau is a tinker, luckily DH still has a weeks leave left. The camping was fab, we loved it, could have done without the rain mind you.

Scooter i have been worried, im glad you were in Derriford, that is where Beau was born.

Catch up later and i hope the rest of you are ok xxxxxxxxxxxxx

lillaura123 · 06/08/2007 12:37

any ideas how to keep libby amused while im trying to get a few household jobs done?? she just seems to be wingy and bored today

GhostWriter · 06/08/2007 13:10

This weather is absolutely disgusting. Wish it would rain.

Just a quick one, off to baby signing in a mo (pfb alert!) and then to cranial osteowhatsit.

Just reminding you all that we are having a Welcome To the World Baby Tank bbq on April 19th and I fully expect at least some of you to be in attendance. There's camping space and floor space for those that desire it. I will brook no refusal. Get planning your route now, Norfolk has no motorways and laughable A roads.

M is fine, weighs something ridiculous nearing 16lb, more than double her birth weight. She slept through 10hrs straight while at the folk fest and is back to waking every hour now we're home. She's a madam but a gorgeous one. Has learnt how to put anything and everything in her mouth. Not so funny woman on the bus said it looked like teething. I think it was right that I nutted her.

juliewoolie · 06/08/2007 13:17

lilaura, you could do what I did last week trying to get the housework done - chucked Archie into his baby bjorn and danced round the flat while hoovering

lillaura123 · 06/08/2007 13:25

gr8 idea il give it a shot

scootermum · 06/08/2007 21:08

Evening all,

Very quiet on here...
today a woman at my bumps and babes version Lily, but one whom Ive never really been very close to, started telling me all about her gyneaological issues, presumably prompted by hearing briefly about mine..gaah, my own were bad enough, although hers were worse, good lord, I nearly choked on my petis fours!

Didnt get a wink of sleep last night as heat was something else..so turning in now..M is lying on the end of the bed looking suspiciously wide awake however..
DH will be home soon however, he is out doing some work thing involving quarter pounders or some such...so I shall hand her over when he arrives..

Lupins71 · 06/08/2007 22:40

Ahhhhhhhhhh apart from AM neing on holiday it feels like we are all together again - lovely

My mum arrived today, fanrastic, dd was soooo excited, she hasnt seen Arlen since he was 10 days old and cant believe the size of him - little bruiser!! Got bought a new phone as i cant afford my contract anymore and was fretting about getting stuck somewhere with sick child and not being able to get help!!

Dp has been signed off sick, so we are officially poor looks like i will have to go and get a jub pretty soon omg!!, altho going to try and do some cleaning work 1st cant face having a proper job - altho it would probly be good for me, went and bought dd's school uniform, just need some shoes and a track suit - she looked sp cute, mum was nearly booing

Right off for some harry potter and a relax before midnight feed - A went from 3-9 last night couldnt believe it when i looked at the clock

GW is there a train stn near you - i dont drive?

Sleep well my buddies, chat tomorrow, hmmmmm wondering how quickly mum can learn bottles, reusable nappies, all the other stuff taht comes with baby and looking after a lively child

AbbyLou · 07/08/2007 13:26

Hi everyone, hope you're all well. Scoot, lovely ot have you been. Sounds like you've been to hell and back, here's hoping it's all over now.
Lupin I know what you mean about being skint. While you wife is on maternity leave is definitely not the best time to start a new business but that's what dh did! Oh well, hopefully things will pick up soon and we'll be a bit better off. As long as the bills are paid that's all I'm bothered about. Glad you'vew got your mum to help for a few days, bet it will be lovely to have her around. We're going to see my mum tomorrow for the day so that should be nice.
I'm just about to take R for her 2nd lot of jabs. I hate it. It's horrible when they're coming at them with 2 needles at once. I'll be glad when it's over. I've packed C off to grandma and grandad's for an hour or so as I think it will upset him too much watching it. He hates when R is upset. Anyway, better go as I'll be late otherwise.
Byeee

cameroonmama · 07/08/2007 13:50

Hello all, welcome back LG&T, glad you all had fun camping.

Lups sorry to hear your dp has been signed off sick. Have fun with your mum.

Abby dh is also setting up his own business, but in Kenya, I too am going to have to find a job, its been a long time since I have worked

GW - I assume you are not planning that far in advance and that you meant August We shall be in France then, besides I'm not sure you could cope with all 3 of mine at the same time

We are stuck at home today, as the plasterers are finally here to redo our ceiling. Also since we haven't had a viewing on our house for nearly 3 months we are changing estate agents. I'm running out of hope - I don't think we shall ever sell this house!

J crying upstairs, got to go.

AbbyLou · 07/08/2007 15:38

Cam that must be hard work, it's bad enough dh doing it here. It's really hard for him because he now works from home and our computer is in the lounge/diner with the telly, toys and kids. Luckily the job does involve an amount of out and about stuff too. Dare I say I am actually quite looking forward to going back to work. Don't get me wrong I love my kids to bits but I love my job too, it's part of who I am. I know the dc will be in safe hands and C adores his cm. I'm a teacher and it's an ideal job really because of the holidays and I can finish a bit earlier than most as long as I am prepared to work at home in the evenings. I am definitely not cut out to be a sahm.

cameroonmama · 07/08/2007 17:39

Abby, it was the same here, computer in the sitting room etc and he could only stand it for 5 mins so he went out and found a room in the local youth club to rent for about £10 a month which has kept our sanity. He will go to Kenya in Sept and leave us here until Jan, that'll be the most difficult part.. What does your dh do?

A tedious tedious day today. I think I am having a 12 week anti-growth spurt. We have been in the house all day living in one room while the plasterers have been here, the kids have played and fought generally been quite good, but now we are all tired and have had enough I feel like I am going to EXPLODE, its so difficult to keep them all entertained all the time without free run of the house! They all seem to say 'mummy' every 30 seconds! The plasterers tidied up beautfully but instead of washing my wooden floors they used furniture polish so now we are slipping about all over the place.. Ho hum, rant over.

aprilmeadow · 07/08/2007 19:24

Bonsoir lovely May Ladies

Had a fab holiday, weather was great and i have caught the sun a little, although my legs are still pastie white. Jack had a great time, we did pony treking, mini golf, swimming etc and then on the way home yesterday popped into Disneyland Paris for a few hours. Got home at 10.30pm.

Have spent all of today either putting washing in the machine or hanging it on the line. House still looks like a bomb has hit it.

Thanks to MrsJB for being my translator and keeping me upto date

Scoot, so pleased to see you back on line and on the mend. Sounds like an awful few weeks you had.

Sounds like all babies are doing well weight wise. Hope all the babies are starting to sleep a bit better for their mummies.

Lillaura good to see you back with us. Belated congrats.

Glad that all holidays have gone well. Fingers crossed that this nidce weather hangs around for a while.

Ella is really coming on. She is so close to rolling over that i cant leave her on the change mat or sofa just incase she choooses that moment to completely roll. Still waking once, although not sure how much that has to do with being out of routine. Back in it tonight though. Got a fair few looks whilst feeding her around the pool, in the car, in the restaurant etc. Figured that if they hadnt seen a boob before then they must have led a very sheltered life. She is talking loads as well. When she wakes up she doesnt cry she just chatters away to herself then sucks her thumb and chats a bit more, it is sooooo cute.

Was gutted when i got on the scales this morning and saw that i had put 3lbs on thought that the amount of walking i did must have balanced out the naughty food i was eating - obviously not

Sorry if i have missed anyone out, but you have been so chatty that i couldnt remember anything.

Oooh and in case i dont get on tomorrow....... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MADDIE. I have a present for her but i will send it along with the Princess Car.

AbbyLou · 07/08/2007 19:58

Glad you had a lovely holiday AM ,you sound very chilled. It's scary how quickly the babies are growing isn't it? R was trying to roll over in the bath the other night, I too am wary of leaving her anywhere high now. She weighed 12lb 9 on Monday so I'm pleased that she is putting weight on well. She was an angel for her 2nd jabs today - a little cry out and then nothing! I couldn't believe it, she screamed last time!
Cam my dh owns a franchise for a domstic cleaning company. Basically he matches cleaners with people who want them - doesn't do any cleaning himself though, heaven forbid! He has do deal with some really weird people, both customers and clients. What does your dh do? Is yours the international man of mystery or have I got the wrong person?

aprilmeadow · 07/08/2007 20:16

Time is just flying by so quickly, i cant believe that Ella is 17wks old today. Am hoping to get her weighed on Thursday after we have been swimming. I think she should be about 12lbs 10oz, she seems to put on 8oz a fortnight. We have the 3rd and final set of jabs coming up, probably next week.

Now got to start planning E's christening. We are having it on the 26th Aug and have fingers crossed that the weather stays nice.

It is really tricky when your dh is running a business from home. Mine has been doing it for 3 years and is finally moving out in September. When he first started it the 'office' was in the spare room, but then 6mths later ds arrived and that worked for about 3mths before we had our bedroom reconfigured so that the desk & computer could fit in there. Same thing happened when we moved house, he had the spare room and then 4mths later Ella arrived. They are still sharing now but its not so bad as we have space in the lounge, on the dining table for the laptop, so when she goes to bed he can work down here. Its not ideal especailly on a Monday when ds isnt at nursery and he is trying to take/make phone calls whilst trying to keep ds quiet. Think he is looking forward to moving into the office he has just bought. There has even been talk of putting a sofa bed in there...... I am looking forward to getting a wardrobe in Ellas room and spreading her stuff out so that it isnt too cramped.
