MrsJB - too cute especially the one of the three of them on the sofa

I did a dreamfeed last night at 10.30 (bedtime was 7) and J went through til 3.45 then 8.15, so that was brilliant, hopefully he is getting the message. He did feed a lot yesterday during the day so maybe that helped, something for you to try Julie perhaps? Also do you think big babies like J have earlier growth spurts than the traditional 12/16/20 week ones?

We have been to a circus workshop this morning, great fun with the kids trying to walk a mini tightrope and me learning how to spin plates

Good news on the pooping Tilda, Tam (I feel a song coming on ). I wish we could go a few days between poop. (not me obviously )

I too have updated my pics.

Where is LG&T? She should be back by now?

Also I have been thinking about when to start weaning (another controversial topic watch out!) and just discovered this baby led weaning business. I'd never heard of it before, any experts out there amongst us?

MKG · 03/08/2007 14:16

MrsJB your pictures are great. Cruz is almost going through. 3 more hours and he would make it. He's sleeping from 10-4 and then 4-7 like clockwork. I can't complain though my nephew who is 20 months wakes up more than him.

lillaura123 · 03/08/2007 14:58

taylor was a big baby and he was only tiny at birth 6lb4oz by te time he was 12weeks he was 15lb!!!!! might post some pics on my profile later - he had loads of grwth spurts b4 6 months then nothing untill he was year he was in 6-9 months clothes at three mnths!i had to wean him early as he was havin 11 oz of formula each feed every 4 hours and twoo bottles within two hours b4 bed - saying that he isnt over weight but he is stocky like his dad now

lillaura123 · 03/08/2007 15:04

have added pics of tubby taylor when he was baby

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/08/2007 15:27

Very cute lilaura.

cam, I tried to ween Maddie at 4mths. She was not intersted in the slightest so I decided to stop and wait until she showed interest. At 6 mths she was showing signs that she was ready. She would watch us eat with all eyes fixed. She would copy our actions, pretending she was chewing, tounge in and out etc. If she was sat on our lap whilst we were eating she would try to take food off the plate or out of our hands and would even open her mouth as we did. I took this as a pretty good sign that she was ready and we started solids again. She had no troubles this time, within a week she was eating marmite sandwiches, mashed baby food rather than puree. I didn't need to cut things into tiny peiece. She found it very exciting.

juliewoolie · 03/08/2007 15:38

again girls thanks for the advice, no idea where i would be without it.

Think I have figured out his feeding thing in the night. He has recently started going 3 hours during the day between feeds and because of this he has been missing out on a feed at 5/6ish and then having his bedtime feed at 7.30 and then he used to go to 3ish but now is waking at 12ish so I guess he is just hungry.Have tried the dreamfeed in the past but it is impossible to get him to open his mouth but might give it a bash tonight and see what happens.
Some very cute babies out there love the smiley photos.

cameroonmama · 03/08/2007 16:24

I find it quite difficult to get J to open his mouth Julie, so I tickle his ears and his feet and for some bizarre reason it seems to do the trick

MrsJB, dd was ready for her pureed carrots at 4 months, ds1 didn't really take to it until 5 months, I really would like to try with J to wait til 6 months and then skip on the puree and get straight into morsels and mash, purely because I am so darn lazy I haven't got time for all that mush making and freezing so if means more bf than now so be it. Of course I may end up changing my mind....

MKG · 03/08/2007 17:08

I remember when Mateo was ready to be weaned. He wasn't just curious about us when we ate, he would get so angry and turn bright red.

Pebblemum · 03/08/2007 19:48

Evening

Well ds1 left at 10am this morning to go to Lincoln and its been so quiet without him. I keep on expecting him to charge through the door moaning hes hungry. Ds2 cried for a bit after ds1 left so we took him for a walk along the beach. He wouldnt paddle in the sea until i did (dont think he trusted dh not to chuck him in lol)then once he was in he didnt want to go home. I will probably take him back there next week when my parents are home. They live right on the beach so its a lot easier for us to pop over to theirs when Alana is due a feed or if we get hungry lol, works out cheaper too.

Did any of you know that KFC will not warm baby bottles? Apparantly they are not insured for it . I couldnt believe it the other day when i went in there. I was buying food at the same time so it wasnt as if i had just gone in there for that and they have changing facilities in there so I thought they would warm her bottle. In the end i had to put her bottle in the bag with the chicken and try to warm it up a bit that way. We were eating the KFC in a park so there was nowhere else i could warm the milk up. It didnt work though and poor Alana had to drink cold milk which she hated and she let the whole park know she wasnt happy lol. If it sok for MacD and Burger King to do it as well as many other smaller businesses what makes KFC any different

I know some of you have said you are feeling broody already but what about your other halfs? Last night my dh came in from work and started going on about having another baby This is the man who had said from the moment i fell pg with Alana that we would definately not be having any more. Now he thinks we need another baby girl to even things up. At first i thought he was joking but he was deadly serious. Dont think i could go through labour again, this time was a lot worse than the others, so unless they find away for the man to suffer the pain and the woman can just lay there peacefully and push then there will be no no.4

Pebblemum · 03/08/2007 19:51

Oh and on the subject of weaning, i just did it when the boys seemed ready which with ds1 was just under 4months (he was a very hungry baby) and ds2 was just over 4 months. Im hoping Alana will hold on until we get back from holiday in October before she decides she want to try solids so its less hassle when we are away

dejags · 03/08/2007 19:54

Hi all,

Wow, can't believe the babies are 3 and some 4 months old already.

DD is doing well - 13 weeks now. She sleep through . I started her in a routine at 9 weeks and she started sleeping through (7pm-5am) at 10 weeks. Since then she has settled down and sleeps 7pm till 6am. It's great.

Talking of growth spurts. The little piggy has been drinking us out of house and home and has gained an average of 50g a day for the past month. She is now 13lbs!

Life is hectic with three. I rarely get 10 minutes to myself or on MN for that matter.

Hope you are all well.

Pebble, don't worry about the cold milk. Cruz loves it. Once when I was out and couldn't bf I gave him a bottle of formula and the water was cold because I was grocery shopping. He sucked it down so fast. My nephew also hated warm formula and would only take it right out of the fridge this lasted from about 1-9 months.

No place of business will warm bottles or give water for bottles (unless it's a bottle of cold water) because of the liability. I mean people sue because their coffee is too hot and they get burned imagine if their babies got burned.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/08/2007 21:38

Pebble, I don't heat Jorja's bottles. I always did with H and M but since having them all of my friends that have had babies give them they're milk at room temp. Powder in the pots to take out and mix and feed. It is what they get used to though which is probably whe A was not impressed. I have to say it's soooooooooooo much easier not having to find somewhere to heat the milk for her.
If you wanted to you could reduce the temp lttle by little over a few days and then she'd be quite happy with it at room temp. As water does not "go off" it can be stored in the sterilised bottles on the side, no need for it to go in the fridge.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/08/2007 21:45

Meant to say though. It's a shame the world has gone so protective and accounting. I'm not surprised you were angry peb. In France all the service station on the side of the road have a bottle warmer that you ask for and they'll plug in for you. Good hey!

lillaura123 · 03/08/2007 21:45

i find that heated bottles stay down better - maybe thats just libby????

ps dont hate me ladies think ive started a bit of a wobbly on mumsnet regarding royal mail oooooops only airing my views - apologies to anyone offeneded

MKG · 03/08/2007 21:59

Lillaura-you are taking a beating over there. Don't worry.

Is anyone else not able to shake their pregnancy weight. I weigh the same as when I went into the hospital. I can't seem to get it off. I'm exercising and eating normally. I just don't get it.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/08/2007 22:41

ohhhhhhhhhhhh lilaura, rocking the boat Don't have an opinion on it, sorry.

Pebblemum · 04/08/2007 00:13

I havent lost much weight since giving birth but some of my old clothes are starting to fit me again so i must just be losing inches instead of pounds.

Ds2 used to drink lukewarm milk but so far Alana hates it. Ive been trying to give it to her a bit cooler but she makes such a fuss and it takes twice as long for her to drink it. I can see she is going to be a fussy one

Dh is taking me out tomorrow night. Mil is having ds2 and Alana at her house but unless we stay over in her spare room we will be collecting A on our way home, Mil isnt keen on having her overnight which is understandable while she is still so young and also I dont think i would want to be away from her too long either. It will be the first time ive left her for longer than a few minutes since she was born so it is bound to feel strange but im really looking forward to the break. I may just have to go shopping tomorrow for something nice to wear

Hope all our baby's are good tonight and allow us to have a lie in tomorrow - or is that just wishful thinking lol

InTheseShoes · 04/08/2007 07:42

Hello all

I really must recommend camping with a small baby, it was great! Because he's so portable, he adapted really well, no problems at all, although it helped that the weather was so good I expect! We pegged blackout material around the travel cot to help him go to sleep at night and it worked a treat. His brother got filthy dirty and overtired, but hey ho.

In other news, T has slept through 7-7 the last two nights, which has been fantastic! I'm not being smug about it as I haven't done anything really other than make sure he has a bedtime routine, bath/massage/pyjamas/feed etc, and no naps after 4.30pm, if possible. I'm going to a wedding today, leaving the house at 2pm, so I hope that DH is ok with both boys. Really it's only 4 hours alone, as he has done a few bedtimes (about 3-4) which start at 6 with the bath. Quite excited about an afternoon and evening out, only problem is that it is about 45 minutes drive away if there is a problem, and I am the designated driver.

Have a good day all, glad to hear that all seems to be going well for everyone, hope scoot shows up soon, but I bet she is moving house and has no connection.

lillaura123 · 04/08/2007 09:53

morning all, yes i am taking a bit of a beating arent i? lol oops never mind what are discussion forums for if not to air your opinions ey??

libby had a good night last night wish i could say the same for ds he suffering badly with his asthma i was up all night with him dh slept on sofa cause i didnt want to leave ds alone xxx

Pebblemum · 04/08/2007 16:43

I am so disappointed, went shopping earlier for something to wear and ended up coming home with just a black full knee length skirt ann a turquoise/black multi top, nothing like what i was looking for. All there seemed to be in the shops were long t-shirt style tops and jeans. I wanted something more girly, feels like ive been living in jeans recently and wanted to make a bit of an effort. I also bought a hair dye to try to cover all my grey hairs, its supposed to be mahogany but its looking quite red at the moment and there is still 15mins to go before i have to rinse it off.

Im now waiting to rinse the dye off, trying to find clothes to wear, trying to pack bags for tonight, keep Alana occupied and run round after ds2. How i miss the old days before kids when i could spend all Saturday afternoon getting ready to go out that night

scootermum · 04/08/2007 21:16

Hello all..

It is I..hope everyone is well-havent had time to catch up yet..thankyou for your card and all of your texts..bless you all, how Ive missed you..

Well, went into hosp to have my bit of placenta removed..not pleasant at all..anyway two days later started bleeding ALOT, which wasnt meant to happen so back I went..eventually they let me out, but was not well at all so went to Mum and Dads,so they could help with the girls (DH packed for me and failed to pack charger for phone hence no replies to texts).Felt a bit better so decided to go on family holiday to Devon, (us, parents, bro and sis and their families)Got to Devon, not feeling fab, had another huge bleed on the first night and spent much of last week in Derriford hosp in Plymouth, (was that where B was born largegandt?)where I had another op to remove the bit of placenta that the first op STILL hadnt removed and repair the damage done in that one..all in all not a good holiday!
Arrived back home late last night...still feel a bit shaky but hopefully on the mend...have got 10 different tablets to take daily and am having bother remembering what to take when..

On the up side though, Mae is a little star. She weighed 11.13 about 3 weeks ago when I last had her weighed and sleeps from about 10.30 till 8 most nights..havent had time to tackle putting her down in the early evening yet mind..and even Lily has been less of a loon whilst I have been 'off sick'...although she has got a deep sun tan as my Mum was in charge of her and she doesnt believe in reapplying sun cream after the first application even when the child is on the beach all day in high summer apparently...DH took her to Tescos with him today and about 6 people commented on her skin tone..we will probably be had up for child abuse at this rate.

Anyway am off to try to catch up...

Must say its nice to be home and nice to be back on here..thought about you all lots from my sick bed, (swoons melodramatically back onto pillows...)

Lupins71 · 04/08/2007 21:28

Scoot - huge hugs to you, we have all been so worried, sorry to hear you have been through the mill hopefully your on the mend now, glad to hear Mae is doing well

Pebble sorry you couldnt find anything to wear, I havent even looked in the shops - not until the last of this weight is shifted

Arlen has had a pants day of it, he is teething and had his jabs yesterday, he has had 2 doses of calpol and is so upset and in pain

Dd also had her jabs yesterday, omg it was horrible, i had to bear hug her to keep her still and she was saying no mummy pls dont let them do it - I was nearly in tears let alome her, i bought dp with us and support and he had trouble parking the car by the time he got in the receptioninst said she had to phone through and it was too late, grrrr at receptionist, so i took her out for the day to beale park - where i proceeded to feel sooo sick, didnt have a phone to call dp to come and get us so was stuck till 4.30

Sorry to say i have read through quickly yesterday but not today, mum is up next week so am busy trying to clear up - impossible task!!

Mrsjaffabiffa · 04/08/2007 22:07

Scoot- It's sooooooooooooooo lovely to have you back. We have been worried as Lups said. Sounds like you've not had the best few weeks.

I have been in blind panic for the last 3 days. Bf in the Uk had baby due. She was 42 weeks on Friday and they were taking her in Thursday night to induce. I've been trying to ring home, sent a few texts and generally not able to eat, sleep or think straight. Finally I got a text at 10.30pm to say she'd had a boy this evening weighing 9lb 10oz. Ouch.......... At least I can sleep tonight now.

lillaura123 · 05/08/2007 08:34
