OMG I went to dr's about my earache and she said I had so much impacted wax she couldnt see a thing in my right ear, recommended seeing the holistic lady at the surgery. She had an appt free this morning and did the hoki(s) ear candle thing, basically special candle placed in your ear and lit and it draws wax etc up she did both ears and then opened it and showed me and it was disgusting the amount of crap that came out, my earache has gone (was probably pressure from wax)

Cost £18 but that includes a follow up treatment next week and I honestly cant recommend it enough, I cant have my ears syringed due to having lots of operations on my ears when I was little and I can actually hear again (although now seems like everyone is shouting at me) she also soes indian head massage/back massage/hot stone therapy etc all really reasonable proces so think I may treat myself once every couple of months to full body massage (£20!!!)

Wilkie · 10/07/2007 15:38

EAH - I am a HUGE advocate of ear candling (even though loads of people think it is crap). I buy my ear candles off the web now and do them myself. They are fantastic although if you have loads of impacted wax it can take several goes to clear completely.

So, Jacob has been enjoying a week of 6 month food: One pot chicken, Beef in orange, Cauliflower Cheese and berry compote (apparently berries are fine from 6 months and he loves them). Have fish pie frozen and ready to go. My boy loves his food but his nappies are gross!!!

Popped into work today to see the new offices which are loads closer to home. Really lovely, very impressed.

I CANNOT believe we are six months in already. Does anyone else think the time has just flown?????

Bought J a little driving set thing from VTech which he loves!! He sits and plays with it for hours. It makes all car noises and has a little steering wheel. Bless.

MrsCarrot · 10/07/2007 16:20

I have one of those ear candles but haven't ever used it, feel a bit nervous to.

Wilkie - it has flown by hasn't it, seems scary really and as he's probably my last baby, a little twinge of sadness for me. J does lok about to crawl, amazing, F is just rolling about still. Have you seen my new photos?

I feel knackered today for no real reason, time for a few early nights I think.

laughalot · 10/07/2007 16:33

loopyjules · 10/07/2007 16:43

hello all, well it's been a day of pooey nappies and whinging (from lo not me!) me thinks more teeth could be on the way his top gum does look swollen, save them for daddy at the weekend brandon been trying to do last min arrangements for the hen do with a friend of mine today think everything is under control and the hen is really excited so it's all good. got a bit stressed at dh about it though, he's known about it for ages and then starts asking me what time on sunday i am back as he's on duty, told him i'm setting off first thing in the morning if he has to go into work he'll just have to take brandon with him.

shimmer and rgee - if it makes you feel any better it's not brand new but it's new to me so that's still exciting!

jodie - hope the ab's have made ethan feel better, poor thing

2happy - a trip to the zoo! i can't wait till brandon's old enough to do that sort of thing although dh isn't as excited about days out, i'm sure he will be though when he see's lo's face light up

mrscarrot - did f decide it was bedtime at a decent hour so that you got some sleep? brandon has been very anti nap today, what do they have against sleep it's one of my favourite things!

laughalot - good luck with work tomorrow and happy birthday to your little 'un for friday

pcf - what's drusillas?

vino - same here i'll be having fri and sat night away, getting a bit emotional about it already, soppy cow!

wilkie - what a great crawling pic

eandh - i have been getting earache on and off for ages maybe it could be the same thing, might get myself some of those candles and give it a go, where do you get them from wilkie?

MrsCarrot · 10/07/2007 16:45

Thanks, LL, that cake was a couple of years ago, posted it up when i was chatting about cakes on another thread. It was quite easy believe it or not.

Dd had Pete from Boogie beebies at her drama on Saturday, she was really excited. Of course we were late and had to jump straight in with, 'can you do, the kangaroo..'

MrsCarrot · 10/07/2007 16:47

No, Lj, he was up till 9.30 or so, and then when I took him up there was a b*ard cat on my bed. I don't have a cat as I am allergic to them, bloody thing. Had only just changed the sheets hours before.

loopyjules · 10/07/2007 16:53

how did it get in and find it's way onto your bed? whose cat is it?

MrsCarrot · 10/07/2007 18:17

I'm assuming it came in through the window since it left that way rather rapidly. We have a sloping conservatory roof where I have actually seen the neighbours cat sitting on before but I didn't recognise this particular one. People have given me tips such as tiger poo, squirting water in its face and cocktail sticks lol, where do you get the poo, the ZOO?

RGee · 10/07/2007 19:47

EAH you feeling any better? I was tempted by hopi candles ages ago but was a little bit put off by imagining the sensation of candles in your ears. Every time I wake up in the morning, my left ear pops like I'm taking off. Is excessive wax aa pregnancy side effect? I've had this since about Feb. It isn't painful, more annoying.

Wilkie - that is a v impressive photo. Pippa still hasn't rolled since that one off weeks ago let alone thinking about crawling! Hope you've moved all your Ming vases up a shelf Beef in orange sounds lush!

Lal - good luck tomorrow back at work.

Carrot - a water pistol is generally quite good for unwelcome cats. I used to squirt water at one that used to come in a nick our quality Whiskas!

Had a lovely lunch today out with folks from work. Lots of wine too...nom nom. Am feeling

RGee · 10/07/2007 22:23
eandh · 11/07/2007 08:22

morning - has been quiet on here and msn at night although I have been logging off around 7.30 and actually doing things.

RGee ear candles are really relaxing as you have to lay still, you get a slight crackling noise in your ear but it isnt painful/uncomfortable, sadly my earache started again at 2am and Drs cant see if its an infection till wax clears but I have had so many ear infections in my time I know it is and I know I'm going to need antiobiotics but trying to cope with nurofen till they'll prescribe a/b's.

Lal texted me a minute ago she and the kids made it out of the house in one piece and shes on route to work.

Got to pop to town later as we need new breadbin, shower head, bath seat for Hattie, paint samples etc am going as soon as Hattie awake from her nap and get it over and done with.

Wilkie · 11/07/2007 08:42

Morning. It was quiet on here last night wasn't it!!! I wasn't online as my delightful son decided to refuse to go to bed and stayed up until 9.10pm. He then woke 11 times in the night for his dummy. Starting to think maybe I need to get rid of the dummy but how?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

MrsC - have decided I will send those pro-biotics back to you - please can you email me your address. Thank you anyway - it was much appreciated

Mrs C also - orange peel works as a deterrent for cats. Put it by the window for a week and see if it scares it off. PMSL at Tiger Poo. WTF?!?!?!?????!!!

RGee - is it you that is back to work the same time as me?? (20th Aug)??

EAH - not exactly an exciting shopping spree - I'm going to MeadowHall next Thurs with my BF to buy new work clothes. Yey!! MIL is having J.

LAL - let us know how you get on. Am thinking of you!!

Not sure if my ADs aren't working or I just have PMT. Struggling with my 'lows' ATM. Really frustrating cos there isn't really any reason for it.

JodieG1 · 11/07/2007 08:56

Morning all. We had a nightmare day yesterday, will say in brief. Ethan fell off the bed in the morning and bumped his head so after calling nhs direct and the gp's we ended up at A&E. In the carpark on the way in Morgan was sitting on my dad's lap (he's in a wheelchair) when he fell off and managed to get his hand run over by the back wheels of my dad's wheelchair Ended up x-rayed and having a tetanus as there was a wound and lots of swelling. Luckily no broken bones but lots of swelling and soft tissue damage and his hand is well bandaged now. He screamed and screamed for a while He's on painkillers for a few days now.

Ethan was checked over by about 5 different doctors and was put in the children's obsevation ward. They were going to do a ct scan but as he would have needed sedation and it's a lot of radiation for a baby they went for observation instead. We got back last night after being there from 11am. Ethan is fine but they said to watch him and if any changes then take him back and they'll scan him.

To make it worse dh left for Italy this morning with work and is back on Friday so I'll be worrying on my own and wondering whether I should take him back or not Sigh, not a good day and I didn't sleep well. I have no energy at all. See you all later.

Wilkie · 11/07/2007 09:22

Oh Jodie you poor thing Hope he is OK. I know it's no consolation but they are resiliant little things. xx

theUrbanDryad · 11/07/2007 09:53

oh Jodie poor you. I'm sure Ethan will be fine. Zac fell off the bed a few weeks ago () and he was absolutely fine afterwards. poor Morgan as well though never rains eh? what does your dh do? he's always jetting off to exciting places!

well Zac's first tooth has come through - it took long enough but it's there! sharp as anything as well though...not looking forward to the top ones coming through as well. i'm gonna miss his gummy grins

ear candling is great - i got a lot of excessive wax when i was pg, and dh did it for me. you don't need to do all the bollox they say, like playing calming music, it works cause the warm air draws the wax up, despite what the new agers would have you believe!!

JodieG1 · 11/07/2007 10:03

Thanks It wasn't the falling off the bed so much but he hit the drawer handle of the wardrobe with his head and had a bump and red mark. The handle is metal too Dh popped out and bought a bed guard last night so that won't happen again hopefully.

UD - dh is a senior systems anylyst, goes away every 3 months or so. Hoping he brings me back some nice chocolates

loopyjules · 11/07/2007 11:08

morning all, wow it was very quiet last night, took no time at all to read posts!

nothing exciting happening here really, looking forward to dh getting home hopefully as early as lunchtime tomorrow so we'll actually all get some time together before i have to travel up north on friday. done a bit of cleaning so he doesn't think i'm a messy cow when he gets back and i think me and lo will go out this afternoon as had to stay in all day yesterday and it drove me a bit bonkers.

jodie - sorry to hear about all the goings on at home, hope the lo's feel much better soon. i know how you must feel when your dh is away i always seem to worry much more when i'm on my own

ud - grats to zac on the tooth! brandon got his first two bottom ones 3 or 4 weeks ago and i thought the top ones were coming as he was having a lot of pain from them the other day but no sign yet. i am excited about his new teeth but like you will also miss the adorable gummy grin

mrs carrot - well there's nothing for it you'll have to keep a steaming pile of tiger poo on your window sill at all times!!!

lal - hope you are having a good first day back

eandh - sorry your ears aren't feeling any better, it's annoying when you know you need ab's yet you have to wait for the gp to make their mind up

wilkie - i can sympathise not on ad's at the moment but have been a couple of years ago and so have been very worried about pnd. i think my problem at the min may be pmt, switched to bottles about 3 or 4 weeks ago now and have not had a period yet, it's probably gonna turn up for my hen weekend....great!

JodieG1 · 11/07/2007 11:41

Well wish me luck, had to call A&E as he was sick again and they said they wouldn't hesitate to bring him back. I managed to catch dh before his plane left and he's on his way back form Stanstead, should be home in 20 mins or less now. Mum and dad are watching Morgan and getting Caitlin from school after. They might now need to give him a ct scan and they said yesterday that it would require sedation Hoping they can observe him again otherwise it's the sedation. My mobile no is on my msn if anyone wants an update via text.
