Morning all.

Leaky hope you are feeling better today hun. The pasta dish sounded lovely - maybe the chicken was "funny"? I am very wary of chicken when I eat out, and tend to go veggie!

I have emailed you Ellie, and quite unbelievably, we have no free weekends until mid September !

Right, need to get ready and face the day. B off to yet another party this morning.

weeonion · 01/07/2007 10:05

goo dmornng folks! been up for a whilebut justamanged to drag myself away from the wee one. she makes me alugh so much with her latest yelps and chirrups!

i missed all the furore with the airport incident ysterday - no news on and it was only as i checked mumsnet out that i found out...... wouldnt be the first timei have missed out on a major incident - i somehow avoided hearing anyhting about princess di's death for 3 days and have managed to sleep through a full scale evacuation and bomb going off in the buidlign next to me..

disappointed i/ we cant make teh meet up - we are in ireland for a month. ah well. maybe there'll be an xmas one??

Sexonknackeredlegs · 01/07/2007 10:12

I was so shocked about the Glasgow Airport incident. Having lived up there for 3 1/2 years, we used the airport loads. When will it end?

Where is everyone? All got lives eh?

JoMa · 01/07/2007 10:51

just waved matthew off
he's going with daddy to a family meal in Essex so I have the whole day without him.
feeling guilty for not getting house straight while he was on hols so gonna make a concerted effort today. Skott is on his way to do my gardening, i've got to pay him his hourly rate as it's his business now, the washing machine is on, now gonna do the dishwasher and just keep going!

so i may be back sometime this year ..............................

So pissed off with DH right now
Just wanted to vent

Katy44 · 01/07/2007 12:02

I'm meant to be doing my assignment and he said he would look after DS
Well apparently that doesn't include bathing him (no big deal) or feeding him when he's hungry

Katy44 · 01/07/2007 12:02

What's the point, might as well just not bother

Katy44 · 01/07/2007 12:02

Wow, that's better
Ellie, don't do housework, it's never worth it

CaptainDippy · 01/07/2007 12:04

Hope your sorting goes well & that Skott does a bloomin' good job if you are paying him to it!!!!!!!

All 3 girls asleep ..... phew .... so just catching up here & then going to finish off some New Home cards a friend has commissioned me to do.....

Have posted on the Meet-Up Thread - don't think we will be there tbh. Spent many happy times at Temple Newsam, Roundhay & Tropical World as wee bairn though ..... my family (mum's side) are from Wakefield, so all my summer holidays were spent up there. Family practically all "Down South" now though; apart from my Insane Uncle who has a moat round his house and collects cuddly toys ...... .....

how are you feeling now Leaky hon?? Hope you didn't have an awful night. Poor thing. {{{{hugs}]}}

CaptainDippy · 01/07/2007 12:21

Grrrrrrrrrrrr!! @ your DH, Katy ..... vent away ......

If we're on the subject of "venting" - Can I do some to??

This just totally sums up my MIL.....

She came to DD1's Pre-School Summer Fayre with us yesterday. she spent the majority of the time just sort of "wandering off" like she was in some kind of world of her own .... she didn't help with the children AT ALL. She kind of took a vague passing interest in them, but would just wander off without notice - so we can't leave any of them with her cos we can't guarentee that they will still be with her when we come back, iyswim!!? DD3 was spectacularly sick all over herself & me ...... MIL's reaction: SHE LAUGHED!!!!!!!! FFS!!!!!!! DH asked her to keep an eye on DD's 1 & 2 while he nipped home to get a change of clothes for P & I (just round the corner) I ended up having to look after them while completely covered in sick while DD3 bawled her eyes out in the sling ..... ..... I have NO IDEA what MIL was doing. I asked her to take DD1 to have her face painted so she joined the queue and then before I know it, DD1 is wandering towards me, having been left completely on her own by MIL who is looking at the cake stall across the other side of the hall!!!!!!!!!!?

She then joined us for a little trip to a nearby town & promptly met some of her friends in a coffee shop. So I was left juggling feeding, screaming baby & over-excited toddler (DD2) while DH went to buy a DVD with DD1 and her Birthday tokens....

Then when we dropped her off at home, DH asked when she & FIL would be taking the children (DD's 1 & 2) for the day. Her reply: "Did we offer? I don't remember offering." Well, you didn't, but we just wondered if you were ever actually going to offer. "Oh, well I'm not sure. We're very busy."

Just completely sums her up imho.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

They invited us over for tea this PM. We're not going.

elkiedee · 01/07/2007 14:48

Poor Katy re dh and CD re mil respectively. Perhaps it's just as well for her not to take dd's for the day, but your day out sounds infuriating. Is there anyone else who can help out with the older two to give you a break?

Ellie, good luck with the housework.

dp's just returned from going out for cash and formula milk with baby. Really missed them when they were out, think for about 90 mins. While I miss aspects of life before baby, I really find it hard to be apart from baby for any time at all still.

Off back upstairs.

normabutty · 01/07/2007 15:09

Grr...to your DH KAty. Isn't it annoying how men seem to think 'looking after' the baby means sitting on their bums with baby in the same room

CD - @ your MIL's behaviour...I think it's even worse than mine.

normabutty · 01/07/2007 15:14

So this weekend I've bought some knitting needles and wool , a sewing machine and LOADS of material...

I'm not v good at knitting (can cast on & do basic knit stitch) and I can't sew at all. I bought 8 metres of fabric (2m x 4 designs) but didn't realise how HUGE 2m was .

I'm gonna try and make some nappies (ok, so they may have to be used on the grandchildren by the time I finish one )

God, I must be mental

Katy44 · 01/07/2007 15:27

Thanks for listening everyone! we've made up now, and he's offered to make tea, which I think is his way of apologising! Anyway, doing my assignment now (as you can tell )
CD - it souds like your MIL hasn't got a clue about looking after children! Can't believe they are so selfish.
elkie, I know what you mean about leaving the baby, when I'm lugging his car seat across a supermarket car park I dream about being able to shop on my own, on the rare occassion I do shop without him I dash round the aisles and check my mobile phone every 5 minutes! Not to mention the vague nagging feeling that I've put him down and left him somewhere
nutty - you're making nappies??? Are you going for the Brownie lentil weaver badge? You do know they sell ones in the shops in great big packs that you use once and throw away, don;t you?

normabutty · 01/07/2007 15:34

LOL Katy...I have no idea what I'm doing. I have 8m of fabric and I have no idea if it goes inside, outside or what.... Am just gonna see what happens.

weeonion · 01/07/2007 15:52

normabutty - i used this pattern to make mine??

normabutty · 01/07/2007 15:56

Was there meant to be a link there WO???

Do you know if I can nippa fleece without damaging the fabric?

Eddas · 01/07/2007 16:15

cd at your mil, sounds like she's away with the fairies!!

norma, MAKING nappies, you're mad

Katy, GET ON WITH YOUR WORK YOUNG LADY, glad you've made friends now

JoMa, hope you're having fun cleaning my most favourite job

Hello everyone else

Not sure i'll make the meet up either Will see what you all decide on first then make my mind up.

I've just swapped ds's wardrobe over from 0-3m clothes to 3-6m. OMG is there alot of stuff 2 of my friends have boys and they've been saving the clothes for me incase I had a boy. There's so much he'll never wear it all, lol. and i'm a little that I really can't buy him anything, but there's really no point.

Now all I have to do is work out who I can pass on dd's and ds's clothes too since 2 is plenty of kids for me

Kneehighinnappies · 01/07/2007 16:46

Hello all, I have had the farkin flu

Came back from the jabs on thursday had a bit of tickle in my throat, which by the evening had turned into the full blown bloody flu!

Have been feeling like shit and now it seems as though dd1 has got it so even more

Fingers crossed the dt's don't get it.

oooggs · 01/07/2007 17:03

hi all

must go and feed ds1 - just flicking through active conversations and remember I said about that mumsnetter buying all my maternity clothes. She has done it again!!

elkiedee · 01/07/2007 17:33

khin, sorry you and your daughter aren't feeling well, hope you feel better soon and the twins don't get it.

nutty, are you serious? If you succeed, you'll have to send a pic of Erin modelling her nappies.

eddas, if you don't know anyone who's pregnant, a good cause of some kind - a charity that you would like to offer support to, an NCT sale, the children's ward of your local hospital - I had been given so much stuff - inherited from family and friends, acquired via freecycle and passed on by others that I've given my mum back stuff I didn't think I could use to donate to Leeds Refugee Centre.

octo · 01/07/2007 17:35

Quick hello - ahhh making nappies - if you ever need a tester .... all you need to do now is think of some cool names for them, start up your small business, do a degree in marketing and you've made it! Millionairess ....

Have thought about it myself - but am no domestic goddess or yummy mummy when it comes to sewing or cooking!

Kneehigh - sorry to hear about the flu xxx

Meet up is unlikely for me am afraid - but will think about it/chat to relatives about staying.

Must go - poo baby and restless dh!

elkiedee · 01/07/2007 17:37

dp wants to buy Danny something from his favourite team's club shop (Wolves). Talk about recruiting fans young. They sell babygros!

normabutty · 01/07/2007 17:42

Ah Octo...you're onto my idea!!!

Yes I have dreams of becoming a WAHM with the 'next genereation' of nappies...tho the reality is it's taken me an hour to figure out how to use the sewing machine and I'm now stuck cos I can't figure out how to muve the foot thing up so my material will fit

as for a name I was thinking Yummi Bummis

leakyR · 01/07/2007 17:50

lol Elkie they all do. TBH I'm amazed George hasn't got something black and white yet. My dad and brother are both called Alan, but Paul always says if we'd given G Alan as a middle name (we didn't!) he'd tell everyone it was after Mr Shearer

Making nappies!!Norma you are crazy. Or Brave. Or both.

Stopped throwing up about 4am, think it must have been something I ate. However I have got earache and my glands are up a bit today. I have been known to throw up and fall over with ear probs in the past. At one point last night I was feeding G and thought "If you don't finish soon i might be sick on you". Not nice. I joined him in a refreshing afternoon snooze today and it seems to have helped.
