Eddas · 01/07/2007 17:56

norma, there should be a lever on the back of the needle!!

normabutty · 01/07/2007 17:59

LOL @ Eddas...yeah I've figured that bit out but I need the actual foot to be higher IYSWIM!!!

Eddas · 01/07/2007 17:59

Leaky/KHIN, sorry to hear you've been unwell.

Elkie, one friend who donate boys stuff said to pass her's onto charity so will give some stuff to Cancer Research.

But had a brain wave, dh's mate and his wife are due to have a baby in a few weeks, der how did i forget!! and we've now asked if they want which ever colour they end up with (and they said yes)so at least I know half of it'll end up with a good home!!

Eddas · 01/07/2007 18:00

Erm hold on i'll check on mine and be back!

leakyR · 01/07/2007 18:03

Yeah Norma the flaw in your plan of world domination and millions (in a lentil-weaverish way of course) would be not being able to sew the nappies

I had a sewing machine when I was a student. Made some curtains and some rather jazzy trousers. Thought both efforts were great. I now realise they were both a bit rubbish.

I'm sure your efforts will be better. I applaud your enthusiasm.

normabutty · 01/07/2007 18:05

Yeah Leaky, that's the only thing standing between me & millions

Although DH seems to be enjoying knitting...perhaps that's my solution

Eddas · 01/07/2007 18:06

can't work it out either have to say when I first strated using mine I couldn't work out how to thread it up correctly, so ended up taking it to our local sewing shop. They lady there spent about half hour showing me how to use it, bless her, and didn't charge me anything!! Think she felt sorry for me as I was pg with dd at the time and explained it was mum's machine and she had died and we couldn't find the instructions, although mum kept EVERYTHING!

You should start a thread in good housekeeping. Someone'll be more help than me

normabutty · 01/07/2007 18:08

Thanks anyway Eddas , I shall have to get the instruction book out again!

weeonion · 01/07/2007 18:10

oops morma - here we go. i have managed a couple of nice wraps but it took an age and she is now too big for them
fernandfaerie.com/sewing_fitteds.html

breast feeders - caoimhe has moved back to feeding every couple of hours - argh - anyone else havign this??

Katy44 · 01/07/2007 19:10

Hi everyone
weeonion, yes, I think we're getting there again He downed 5oz of EBM earlier (normally has about 3 and a half) and then wanted a feed about 2 hours later. How do you know when she wants a feed and when she's just crying? He doesn't have a 'feed cry', we just tend to try it if nappy doesn't need changing and entertaining him doesn't help. I can't overfeed him, can I?

mammyjo · 01/07/2007 19:43

Hi all. WO, Ffion has started waking in the nights again for at least 2 feeds. The other night it was for 4 feeds. She had been sleeping through from 10pm to 6.30am so it has come as a bit of a shock to my system. Hoping it is a growth spurt and wont last much longer!

Not sure about the meet up dates yet, will have to check what dh is working and let you know.

mammyjo · 01/07/2007 19:45

Katy, dont think you will overfeed him. If he takes too much then he would most likely throw it back up. Ds used to do this all the time. Every evening he would take a monster feed then puke most of it over his bedroom floor! Nice.

elkiedee · 01/07/2007 20:00

The little one here is doing everything the breastfeeders describe too, on his bottle feeds.

octo · 01/07/2007 20:35

hello all...

ernie is feeding 3 times a night soooo tired but he is so cute

CaptainDippy · 01/07/2007 21:05

Evening all! In the middle of doing New Home cards for a friend, really hoping to get them finished tonight, they are driving me nuts!! No you can't really "over-feed" a baby - as has been said - if they take too much - they'll just chuck it right back atcha!! Niiiiice.

Pesha · 01/07/2007 21:18

Dylan has always feed 2hourly through the day in fact prob more often than that. Aty night he'll tend to have one 4 hr sleep, feed, 3 hr sleep, then cluster feed till i get up. Cant go anywhere or do anything in the day without having to feed him and he doesnt sleep at all all day except maybe a 5min nap whilst feeding. Am starting to find it quite draining now, thought he would have got abit better by now tbh

leakyR · 01/07/2007 21:53

G is also having quite a lot of nights where he wants feeds every couple of hours. Mind you he's never slept through and if he sleeps longer than 3 hours i seem to wake up and wait for him IYSWIM.

Grizzling now. Better go and offer him booby.

mammyjo · 01/07/2007 21:55

F also feeds every 2 hours during the day, but quite regularly goes more often than that. I can sometimes be feeding every hour. I am a frequent visitor to my local mothercare to use their feeding room as I can rarely make it around town to do my shopping without stopping at least once. She also spends most of her day awake, although she does sleep quite well at night so musnt grumble really.

mammyjo · 01/07/2007 21:56

Lol at booby! Thats what my dh and ds call it too. If F is yelling, ds will come to me and tell me she wants booby!

Pesha · 01/07/2007 22:03

Mammyjo - I have to feed D in the sling with muslin draped over my boob whilst walking around otherwise I would never go anywhere or get anything done! Very rarely even make it round tesco without having to feed him and he takes so long I gave up on change rooms! Never had a single comment or even dodgy look, dont think anyone even realises whats going on!! Just get bit worried about some old lady coming along wanting to have a look, lifting the muslin and getting an eyefull but not happened yet

Sexonknackeredlegs · 01/07/2007 22:10

God, quiet on here tonight. You all watching the Diana concert?

Dippy, cannot get over your mil - what planet is she on?? Many people are crying out to have grandchildren fgs.

Nutty, pmsl at your knitting/sewing explots. The last time I did any sewing was when I was about 15 in Home Economics classes!

With regards to over-feeding, they just puke it back as has already been said.

With bottle fed babes they suggest it take 3 to 4 hours to digest. K has a bottle every 3 hours during the day up to about 8.00 p.m. and then goes through the night until 7.00/30 a.m. which is just wonderful. We are very lucky. B was the same.

Had a lovely day today. B had a party to go to this a.m. and she was very well behaved (unlike last weekend) and then this afternoon we went over to friends.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. Off to bed now, so see you lovelies in the morning. xx

CaptainDippy · 01/07/2007 22:20

Not here - we don't have TV!! I know SOKL - I am completely & disgusted by her behaviour - she is compeltely "away with the fairies" as someone put it (made me lol ) .....

We have "boobie" here too!!

I can confirm that Pesha is compelte Pro at BF her bubs in sling - was most impressed!!

normabutty · 01/07/2007 22:34

Ok, so no nappies made yet...I have made one wipe (pretty badly ).

Have found a v easy nappy pattern tho so will give it a go tomorrow when I get some elastic.

Octo - You can def test one (if I ever get it made lol) but it'll be girly. I overdid it on the cute girly fabric!!!

CaptainDippy · 01/07/2007 22:38

Yey for wipe!! I'm up for testing one too - no problems with your plethora of girlie fabric here either!!

CaptainDippy · 01/07/2007 22:44

Right - promised myself I'd be in bed before 11 tonight, so I am off ......
