thanks for advise re weaning. Freddie is a hungry baby and good size too. I will be led by him but i reckon it wont hurt to try a few spoonfulls at about 4 months to see what he thinks!

Pebblemum · 18/07/2007 09:03

Morning all

My throat feels as though Ive swallow a bucket full of razor blades Found it so hard to sleep last night because of it then just as I fell asleep at 4.30am Alana decided to wake for a feed (she never normally wakes that early)and wouldnt go back off. Then ds2 stumbled into the room still half asleep and climbed in bed, snoring again before his head hit the pillow followed not long after by dh who had fallen asleep on the sofa last night which meant we had 4 people in our bed. All in all I have managed about an hrs sleep before the alarm went off[sad} Suprisingly though everyone else is still fast asleep, except ds1 who is just off to school

Off to drs at 10.30 for A's first jabs and ds2's pre-school booster, my day just gets better lol

Also have just had a text from my friend saying her waters have leaked and she's off to hospital to be checked, shes not due until Oct, so I will be checking my mobile for news every 2mins, really hoping everything is fine

Ooh I hear a LO waking, not sure what one it is yet. See you all later x

Lupins71 · 18/07/2007 10:13

Pebble sorry you are feeling pants, hop your friend is ok

MID Im sure that will be fine i have been reading on weaning thread that the onle reason it was changed to 6 months was because alot of people were doing it way to early

Had a good nights sleep for a change Arlen only woke once rather than 3 times - so i think the 1 meal a day is helping alot

Off to docs with dp today, not sure she will change anything but he's not any better

largeginandtonic · 18/07/2007 11:47

Morning all, is it still morning? I have been in the kitchen all morning making cakes for dd to take in for her teachers She goes up to the Junior school and they have all been so lovely with her.

Cam nice to see you back, even if it is to gloat at your sophisticated life style

MrsJB bugger about the car, i would email the seller too, sure they would post to France.

Regards weaning, i weaned mine mostly at 4 months, including the twins who were born at 29 weeks. Jonah was about 6 months and Hugs about 5 months i seem to remember. The HV generally say when a baby reaches 17lbs he is ready. Good luck!

Pebble really hope your friend is ok and not in labour. Sending staying in there vibes for her. Hope your throat feels better soon too.

I had awful evening, less said the better. The children drove me to distraction, i had them all in bed by 7

Will post a pic of the cakes i made on my profile on a mo......

cameroonmama · 18/07/2007 12:26

where does the time go?

I am LG&T of the cake making, I managed to buy several small bags of thorntons choccies for our teachers this morning. LOL at getting all the dc into bed by 7, it must have been a really bad evening!

The jazz was lovely, but not terribly sophisticated given that it was in a local pub still it was nice to put on some heels and get out for a couple of hours, before dh goes away again next monday to Singapore, KL and Mumbai. I, by comparison, get to go to Lincoln Ho hum.

If the HV recommends weaning at 17lbs, we are likely to be starting next week I swear you have never seen such an enormous boy as Jasper.

Pebble, hope your friend is ok.

We went to the docs yesterday to see about me having a coil in while we wait for dh to have his little snip and by the time she had an available appt dh should have had his 3 month all clear She said that if J is still feeding at night and is exclusively bf we should be fine, hhhmmmm not sure we want to test that theory out.

I cannot BELIEVE you are all talking about babies again, though apparently I did say to my MIL minutes after ds1 was born that I wanted another, personally I blame the drugs .

Anyone heard from Scoot? Scoot are you ok? Did you have your d&c?

MKG · 18/07/2007 13:01

Hey all! Does anyone else fantasize about crushing their dh/dps head in with a hammer. Because I think about it all the time. He's been such an ass lately that I want nothing to do with him.

He thinks that what I do is easy and it's not. He thinks that I should have both kids in a routine (ds1 is, but Cruz is a mysterious kid who's movements are untrackable). He doesn't realize how much of my day is spent feeding Cruz. He told me I should just pump for an hour and that should be enough for the whole for him, then I can just throw a bottle in his mouth later. He complains that the house isn't clean enough (Like saying "the floor never looks clean, oh maybe that's because you never mop it" Hello I clean it, but I don't have the time to get on my hands and knees (which is what he expects)

Anyway am trying to figure out if it would be justifiable homicide or not.

juliewoolie · 18/07/2007 13:13

bloody men. Honestly i do think that sometimes they reckon we do nothing all day.

Quick rant need your opinions - We have just got a cleaner its all new never done it before. But anyway we live in a 2 bed flat its not huge. She arrived at 10.30 and I went ou at 11 and came back at 12.45. Since she arrived all she has done is iron 5 shirts and hoover the floor and clean tiny bathroom. Also the flat smells of fags where i guess she stood on balcony to have one. Feel rather pissed off should I say something?

cameroonmama · 18/07/2007 13:36

absolutely julie! Set the rules right from the start agree together what she should be doing, from what you would like her to do and what she thinks she should be doing and clearly outline the no nos, like smoking on the balcony, if you can, try not to be too confrontational, more a kind of, lets agree together. HTH

Mrsjaffabiffa · 18/07/2007 13:45

Yes Julie you should say something, start as you mean to go on. If you say nothing this time she'll think it's alright to do it everytime.

Pebble hope you are better soon and your friend is OK.

Thanks for the advice about e-bay ladies and your very kind offer Lupins, but the LOVELY Aprilmeadow has come to the rescue. She's such a sweetie and is going to get it from Mothercare and curior it over to me. Luv her xx

lg&t, Cakes, yumm! No more food talk,

3rd night in a row for Jorja all night now. 12 - 8am Moved her cot up to our room this morning as she is nearly touching head and foot in her Moses basket.
She has her first jabs this avo, The kitten got her hand last night whilst she was waving it around in her bouncer, she screamed the place down so she's going to wail with her jabs I'm sure. (Must have her Mummys pain thresh hold)

Have a good day all...

juliewoolie · 18/07/2007 14:01

Thanks for the advice - god I felt awful telling her she has to leave the building to smoke but am now just really cross. She has left and I did a spot check toilet not cleaned loads of surfaces not dusted. So have called the company and told them all this and they are going to send someone else. Feel a right bitch but really isnt the toilet one of the things you would really expect a cleaner to do

Pebble hope you feel better soon no sleep and feeling ill, poor you.

LG&T if you keep talking about cakes am going to have to hunt you down - tis no good for the loose the jelly belly as it makes me want to go to the bakers.

Cam re the coil what a bugger you could do what my DP suggested and use the withdrawel method think he forgot thats how we got A in the first place

MKG · 18/07/2007 14:13

Don't feel bad julie my mom hired someone once and all she did was stink the house up with bleach, but for some reason nothing was ever clean.

largeginandtonic · 18/07/2007 14:23

MKG thats my trick when people come over......that and sparying the polish about Works a charm!

Cam your dh off on another 007, so unfair. Hide in his suitcase It was a bad evening, dh got all the ranting\crazy texts i sent last night, this morning as he crossed the channel. He phoned to see if i needed an sos\ambulance.

MrsJB how lovely of April. Lucky Maddie too.

Blasted school run in a mo, grrrr. Only 1 day left of it hooray!

Was reading the alcohol in prg debate from last night. Was very funny!

AbbyLou · 18/07/2007 14:29

Hi all.
Pebble hope you're feeling better soon.
LG&T your cakes look Scruuuumy! I wish I had some of your kids in my class, I would love a gift like that at the end of term. It's lovely to receive anything but the ones where a bit of effort and though has gone in are so much more memorable.
Julie about the cleaner. My dh runs a cleaning business and you wouldn't believe some fo the muppets who apply for jobs as cleaners. He always interviews them in their own homes so he can see what their own cleanliness standards are like. Obviously if their own house is a pigsty they don't get the job! There is the flip side though. Some of his customers are soo anal! They ring up about the most ridiculous things. One woman scared of three cleaners in 2 months. She told them she had OCD and then followed them round during EVERY clean.

madeindevon2 · 18/07/2007 15:46

its so hit and miss with cleaners.
when i lived in east london i had these 2 women come round and they were ok to start with but after a while totally shocking. it wasnt until hubby was made redundant that we realised how little time they spent cleaning.

ive moved to Herts and got a fantastic company now. they are pricey but they do a great job. i.e EVERYTHING in the bathroom is moved and cleaned. they do windows too if they have time. they dust the tops of picture properly, so the skirting and picture rails. (all stuff previous cleaners have neglected) they bring all their own stuff including hoover mops cleaning materials and they take the rubbish away with them too!

had 6 week check and i too have to wait til end of august at earliest for coil.
Seeing as i got pregnant within a month of dh having reversal im slightly concerned as we dont want any more children. using condoms but one came off the other day ...so i wanted pill as backup in the meantime but i couldnt have the minipill as i had ectopic pregnancy in the past so not suitable.
maybe total abstainance!?

Pebblemum · 18/07/2007 16:12

Afternoon!!

Ds2 was very brave this morning having his injections, he cried a bit but 2mins later was all smiles again Alana cried more having her jabs than she has done in the entire time she has been born. It was a real heartbreaking screeching cry She fell asleep almost straight after though. Ive given her a dose of calpol with her afternoon feed just in case, she was a bit ratty whether it was to do with the jabs or not Im not sure but better to play it safe.

Ive still not heard from my friend. Im getting worried now, she went into hospital at 8.30am, im sure she would have texted by now if she was able to. Im not sure if I should send her one just to let her know im still thinking of her or to wait for her to get in touch. Ive been thinking about her all day, wont have any finger nails left at this rate.

cameroonmama · 18/07/2007 18:39

LG&T, you put me to shame the cakes look divine. How do you do that lovely swirly icing??

You lucky ladies with your cleaners, I am the cleaner Actually I say that tongue in cheek because of course in Cameroon I had a cleaner............and a nanny, a driver, a gardener and a security guard. Don't look at me like that, its great for the economy to give as many people as possible a job

I like the clean smelling house tips, I shall try that if we ever get another viewing.

MID, with a snorting wriggling wee beastie in the corner of the room, abstinence at the moment is deffo the easiest option.

Pebble, hope Alana and ds are not still feeling too bad after their jabs, I too have to do ds and actually am putting it off..

Have to go and put the tiniest nipper into his bed.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 18/07/2007 19:09

lg&t, the cakes look fab BUT so does your new table cloth.

largeginandtonic · 18/07/2007 19:44

I do lurve my new table cloth MrsJb......thanks for noticing

Cam i pipe the buttercream on so it goes all ice cream swirly like. The kids have devoured the excess after school but i have stacks of buttercream left, anyone want some?

Beau is due his jabs next week but we are camping so will have to put then off. He has his hearing test tomorrow but i may cancel

My day goes like this tomorrow....830 school run, 9am leavers assembly, 115 pirate picnis with ds#3, 215 Beau hearing test, 3pm school pick up, 5pm dd leavers disco, 630 dd pick up from leavers disco. GAH!

Nothing like cramming it in before the end of term is there? I may be on the valium by the end of the day.

I have also had a compulsion to clean today, i have stripped 5 beds and taken all the covers off the sofa and washed the throws and various cushions. For good measure i polished the mirror in the dinning room too. If i didnt know any better i would say im pregnant

cameroonmama · 18/07/2007 20:25

FGS woman, will you slow down? Bet you are really looking forward to dh being back

We have ds1 pre-school outing tomorrow - soft ball play place and then picnic so we could be picnicing at the same time LG&T!

J is so very nosey and just will not sleep during the day if there is something or someone much more interesting to watch. If we are at home he will have a kip for a couple of hours, but that's all, then he wants entertaining - anyone else got the same problem?

When is Maddie's birthday MrsJB? How lovely of April to help out, she's always helping out, too kind Those cars are so good aren't they? My dc just loved theirs and there was a fight over who would inherit it when we left Cameroon.

Talking of interesting threads did any of you read Mozhe's thread when she posted that she was off on holiday to St Barts with her dts leaving behind 3 dc and a newborn preemie in scbu with her dh and aupair...oooo it really kicked off!

largeginandtonic · 18/07/2007 20:42

Ooooh i didnt read that thread Cam, but may have to search for it later!! We could have our own virtual picnic I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to dh coming home, he is currently marooned off Plymouth somehere. So close yet so far Wish i lived in Plymouth still, he could have been home tonight. Blasted Navy, grrrrrrr.

Am going to re heat the chilli my sis in law bought for me on Sunday and read the Mozhe thread!

juliewoolie · 18/07/2007 20:51

cam I have read bits of the mozhe thread. The woman cant be real. Mainly cause I have been to ST Barts its fookin miles away and takes forever to get to surely you wouldnt go that far for 1 week. If it is real she has some serious problems.

I too have a seriously nosey child just refuses to sleep during the day have done the shush pat thing to death makes no differnce. He will go to sleep if he crys for 10 mins in the cot but never sleeps longer than 30 mins except in the car or buggy but lo and behold if the car or buggy stops moving. All I can say is thank god he goes down at night really well. But he is gorgeous and I cant complain.

LG&T those cakes looked lovely just like the ones I used to buy in my local bakery in NY. Please please post me some, sod the jelly belly!

InTheseShoes · 18/07/2007 21:31

Have had a very trying day...

Forgot to put the shower curtain in the bath, then as I was cleaning up the water, there was a knock on the front door (7.30am!) so appeared in a towel to be asked to move a car that wasn't mine by a workman (!), then we seemed to be running late all morning, I thought I'd broken the pram (don't ask) and as we are on day 3 of dh working in Dorset (back tonight) panicked about fixing it.

Then, I had booked a shopping trip with a friend to get something to wear for the Baptism on Sunday. Got to Monsoon, which I had chosen because they put the clothes together in colours and outfits, and the bloody sale had started which was like a jumble sale, nothing together, nothing nice...grrr. I tried a few things on, but I was (probably unreasonably) pissed off with my friend who I had specifically asked to come so that she could watch the baby/advise me but she was more interested in finding sale bargains for herself. Also, nothing looked especially nice on me with my breastfeeding breasts resting gently on my jellybelly, which in turn is resting gently on my c-section overhang... I did get two dresses but I'm not over-excited by either of them (at least they were in the sale, so a bargaineous £55 the two) and there are two very glamourous godmothers on Sunday sigh. When I moaned to my mother on the phone, she said that I wore clothes "flamboyantly" which made me feel like an art teacher.

I was starving and we went for lunch, had to wait forever for some food, which then was freezing cold. T was on one today, very unlike him, and really mardy, didn't really sleep in the pram and then was ridiculously overtired and really yelled when we got home !

cameroonmama · 18/07/2007 21:44

Julie - when I look at him all tiny and cute like and fast asleep at night i can forgive him anything

I think Mozhe may be real and may even have 6 kids (but surely she can't be as lovely as our very own LG&T) but I'm not sure all aspects of her life are for real, or she posts to be able to analyse others reactions for her psychiatry research, either way I wasn't going to be drawn in

J won't let me go shopping anymore ITS, everytime I try he yells so hard I have to leave the shop, I've resorted to the online Next sale, probably he'll even put a stop to that by waking up

What exactly does dressing flamboyantly mean?? Show us a picture, go on.

InTheseShoes · 18/07/2007 22:03

Sorry. pressed post too soon.

Anyway, finally got them in bed, sorry to have moaned, but I do feel better for venting!

LG&T, I take my hat off to you, baking all those cakes!

It's nice to see the thread rocking today, there are still a few missing persons though, SOH are you out there and surviving? Jonah, you are AWOL here and in Caffe Nero! TYG? drgkpink?

InTheseShoes · 18/07/2007 22:05

cameroonmama, I don't know what flamboyantly means either, that's why I think I must be an art teacher. Or Jordan. Oh God.
