Hi JL,

expressing is bloody difficult. The only advice i can give is what the lovely ladies on here told me. Youre LO is 3 times more effective at getting milk out than expressing. Try expressing at different times of the day to find your best yield. Personaly just before bed is good for me but alot of people seem to find first thing in the morning best. Also I would say 60ml is fine for an express. I also found that I have done much better with an electric pump. I think tbh that its trial and error just try lots of things until you find whats comfortable for you. Mostly dont stress about it, easier said than done, as I know I am always worrying about BF and all the assorted things that go along with it.

Give me a shout if you need an ear to listen. Also isnt your DH going back on the rig soon? Lets try do a lunch or one of the parent and baby movie showings. Think I am going with Befsnok on Mon if you want to join us.

juliewoolie · 14/07/2007 19:18

CONGRATS charleymouse really pleased G is getting better.

Juicylucytoo · 14/07/2007 19:41

JW - getting a shopping break Monday, so won't make the movies, but we should maybe try for lunch on Thurs?? (we could crash BB's NCT lunch )

I'll be in touch if I get express-stress

madeindevon2 · 14/07/2007 19:42

re expressing. i have been doing this almost daily for past 10 days.
i find i get more in the morning (about 4floz) but when i do it late afternoon struggle to get 1.5 floz
so yeah experiment at different times of day!
i use electric pump. takes me about 20 mins this morning to get 4 floz but yesterday afternoon took me half hour to get 1.5
electric much better than manual as u can just press button and watch telly while it pumps!

cameroonmama · 14/07/2007 19:58

Charley that is truly great news about George

So LG&T when is the party??

You are all so good at this pumping business, I have not even bothered to try this time

We have had a lovely day out, visiting an art expo my mil had organised then lunch at a friend's, dropped dd off with him for her to 'be a vet for the day' at his practice and we went to a dodgy bit of beach by the Bristol channel nearby to the old Hinckley Point Nuclear Power station to catch some 'rays' J has been so good all day, though he doesn't much like being in his Bjorn Borg, I think it is because he can't see what is going on, he is so nosey! And now Dh has popped out to get a curry for us, yum.

Please take a look at this thread and see if there is anything any of you may like to add/help with, its a subject close to my heart

LWandLottie · 14/07/2007 22:41

Hi

Just running in. Hope all are having a fabulous weekends. I certainly am! We had Charlotte's 'Welcome to the World' party today (didn't wan't her christened) and it was great fun. We ended up just going out as a family as we couldn't be arsed with everyone faffing about! Wen't out for a lovely meal and came back for tea and cake. Had C is a stunning little pink dress - it was too cute. Pics on profile.

Must say I'm feeling a tad on the tipsy side, far to many matini and lemonades!

Anyhoo, that's me. Pop on tommorrow if I can to catch up with gossip. Night all

largeginandtonic · 14/07/2007 22:56

Am not doing well with expressing, i have doen it for 20 mins at a time and got 10mls!!!

I am going to switch to the morning or while i am feeding (do the other side) as the evening when i have the most time (typical) is the worst for me.

Jonah's part went very well, the host girl was fab! It was so nice to leave the mess behind too, cant believe i have never done a party like that! I always do them at home. He was so pleased with it all. I have many photos to show DH when he get's home next week. Shame he could't see it himself

Am off to bed, so wrecked. Had an extra 2 day too, his lttle friend and she only went home at 7. I had to drag them all in 4 bath time at 8, it was such nice weather though.

Night all

Mrsjaffabiffa · 15/07/2007 21:02

Hello, echo.....echo.....echo....;

Where's everyone today?

Have missed you all. Glad the goodies arrived safe and well. Have had a lovely time, very busy and I'm very fed up with packing and unpacking. Now trying to sort out all the stuff we brought back.

It was great to see the lovely Lg&t and AM. It was so nice to see the bubbas together they looked so cute, Beau is extremely edible and Ella is still small and very cute. Mummies honestly look fantastic both of whom are totaly lying about the way I look. I am still the size of a house but tommorow is the day so all talk of FOOD is now barred from this thread please.

Gee, I'm starving already just thinking about it>>

Have to admit I haven't been able to read everything. It would take me all night but
Scoot I'm glad they have found the cause of your bleeding, hope you feel better soon.
Big hugs to charliemouse, glad George is on the mend it must have been a scary time for you all.
Belated Birthday wishes for Jonah lg&t.
Soh, I really hope all is ok for your friends little boy. Sorry I didn't get the message to get your mobile number off lg&t, sounds like it wouldn't be much use now though. Deary me. I did the same a few years ago. Sat my lardy arse down on the sofa next to my mobile phone. I slumped down so heavily that my phone jumped off into my glass of coke that was on the floor. Doh. Fortunately dh had a friend who repared mobiles and he took it apart and cleaned it up for me.

Sorry I haven't mentioned everyone. I hope you are all well though. xxx

Jorja is doing well, has her first lot of jabs later this week when I get round to getting them from the chemist. I'm going to ask the doctor for the stuff to help increase my milk too. She's feeding much better now but my milk has suffered and i can't seem to increase it. At least if I've tried it once and it doesn't work then I know I tried everything.

largeginandtonic · 15/07/2007 21:37

Welcome back MrsJB, it was so lovely to see you all There are pics on my profile of Beau and Jorja, Maddie and Hugs, all very sweet! Poor you with all the packing and unpacking, what a nightmare for you.

It is so quiet on here, where is everyone?

All mine just gone to sleep, peace at last. My sister in law came today and bought DD her bridesmaid dress (for sep 8th) she looked like a princess and loved it. Little girls in pretty dresses, they get so excited!

Am off to bed, school tomorrow, blasted school run.Only 4 days left of it though, mine all finish on Thursday for 6 weeks, wahoooooo. DH home on Friday too

Lupins71 · 15/07/2007 22:59

Ahhhhh 22.45 and i finally have chance to sit down, hope ev1 is well have done a quick catch up on last few day

CM Fab news,

LW&L sounds like a lovely day, might have to copy that idea,

We went to legoland yesterday, it was the my 1st festival day, it was really good - I got to drool at sportacus altho he was a bit far away , dp got sunburn on his balding head and today it is blistered and weeping - when will they learn to use sun cream !!!,

Guess what my little A has done today???????????????????????????? After reading the SMA tin and seeing that for his adjusted age he should be on 5 5oz feeds NOT 8-9-10 5oz feeds!!!!! I went to waitrose and bought a jar of food and some dried baby rice pudding- he loved it!! Its not going to be a regular thing yet but might do few spoonfuls a day - which was all he slurped of the spoon today, you should have seen his little face when i gave him a few spoons for pure apple and pear mix (i dont usually do jars except for travelling but was testing the water) he was like mooorrrrrree, anyone would have thought he was handed a KK, btw has anyone had a cinabon - OMG that are out of this work (sorry mjb i know food is banned but i could not forgive myself if i didnt tell you all about these), for those that do not know - they are like a swirly pastry yummy thing mixed with cinnamon and icing on the top - they also do a pecan one, they are about the size of a mans fist and cost 2.99 but boy are they worth it

Dont know if anyone remembers me mentioning the bad influence little girl a few doors up, anyway we havent seen her for about 2 weeks (cant say i have minded) today she came over to see if dd and her could paint these mugs she had gotten for painting, i said ok but must do it in the garden, i was cleaning dd's room and about 30 minutes later heard dd shreak and lots of girly nonsence going on - had a look out of the window and they have mixed all the paints into a pot so it is brown slush added water and the other girl is about to throw it on dd - i soon put a stop to this and told them to clean up the disgusting mess they had made, then i go out of dd's room and i was faced with brown paint all up the hallway wall, on the banisters, on the carpet, all over the bathroom - pretty much everywhere, told them both off and sent the other girl home, the kitchen carpet is ruined - my brand new jeans are stained from cleaning it up, it is all over the garden furniture - i was livid, dd was sent to her (newly immaculate) bedroom till dinner time, so i was right she is a bad infuence and she wont be coming back

Just realised A has gone 3.5 hrs the food ust be working, am off to bed, hope ev1 gets a good night sleep and sweet dreams

largeginandtonic · 15/07/2007 23:24

We dont have paint in the house Lups......that would be baaaaaaaaad......

Love legoland, it is so good for little one's, am desperate to go this summer with them all. Looking at about £200 for the day though

Lupins71 · 16/07/2007 08:42

lgt do you shop with tesco, we got our through deals quarter of the price - you will have to let me know if you are going

Mrsjaffabiffa · 16/07/2007 08:53

Morning......

about the paint lupins.

Yeah great deals with tesco club card points. My sis is getting us tickets for Futuroscope this summer, it's only 50mins from us but is very expensive to go in normaly. The club card point tickets make it well worth a visit.

Jorja slept Midnight to 8.15am last night. I feel refreshed.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 16/07/2007 08:56

Oh I forgot to tell you. We are going to pick up our new family member today. A very small cute dark tabby kitten that we have named Marmite. He was on order before his mum was even pregnant and then he was born within 10minutes of me having Jorja on the 16th May.

aprilmeadow · 16/07/2007 10:03

hi all,

Congrats on the new arrival to the JB family. What cute name

Great news on little George Charley.

Glad the party went well lg&t. So nice to leave mess behind

Lupins, omg at the paint, i would be so

Well we had a wet weekend! Drove up to Nottingham on Sat pm and stayed in a hotel so that we could get up nice and early and get to the British Touring Cars at Donnington Park. Hotel was nice but J was a pickle. We were all in bed at 8.30!! J in with dh me on a sofa bed and E on a pull out bed (too big for moses basket and they didnt provide the travel cot i requested). Were having breakfast at 7.30am and all checked out by 8.10am. Took 1.5hrs to do 3 miles!!!! Arrived at the circuit and it was pissing down! Thats how it stayed for the whole day Had just gotten J changed into his dry clothes when he fell off a chair into a massive puddle, we decided that it was the last straw and decided to head home.

AbbyLou · 16/07/2007 10:54

Morning all, not been around much, busy weekend again! Have just read all the thread, took ages.
CM - so glad G is on the mend, you must be so relieved.
Lupin - that neighbour of yours sounds like a right little madam. I think you're doing the right thing keeping dd away from her.
AM we live about 10 minutes drive away from Donington so decided not to take the car out that way at all yesterday. You're right, the weather was appalling, you myst have been soaked to the skin.
We had a really lazy day yesterday and were all asleep for an hour in the afternoon!
Ds has gone swimming today with Grandparents. He's so excited bless him. I feel terrible because he hasn't been since last August when we went to Butlins. It's something I really want to do more with him but never seem to find the time. We're off to Center Parcs in September so I want him to be a bit more confident by then. Mil is a swimming instructor though so he's in the best hands.
Took Ruby to the clinic this monring and she's lost weight. I'm really surprised because she feeds really well and has the right amount of milk/feeds in a day. The hv said not to worry and weigh her again in a fortnight.

anneme · 16/07/2007 11:04

Hooray re George CM - I am so pleased for you.
Knackered today. Big bday and christening weekend. Had a lovely time. LOADS of people came and we have an awful lot of food left - does anyone want a load of new potatoes/salad/french bread - I could go on.....My Dad christened Samuel and it was lovely. Two funny things (?) happened. I walked down with s in the pram and arrived at the church feeling v smug - was on the dot of 12.15 by my watch. Dad kept making jokes in the service about people having to wait a lot and I thought he was being a bit OTT because I was maybe 30 seconds late. It was only after the service I discovered my watch was 20 mins slow - the poor things had all been sitting waiting for 20 mins. Fortunately they assumed it was a nappy crisis!! During the service we were all standing round the font and Dad asked the children what water is used for. DS one got very excited and went " water - you can use it for jam tarts. You make pastry and you need water and flour...." we managed to shut him up before we got a full cookery demo.
Anyway lovely day, no family arguments (except a little one between DH's divorced parents but nothing compared to other events!) Loads of children running round and my lovely DH even admitted in his v short speech to the fact that he had not made it through the whole of Samuel's birth (conscious that is) - can't remember if I told you all about that - v funny
Must go and try and decide what to do with vats of pasta salad

xx
Still smiling re George CM - so wonderful

aprilmeadow · 16/07/2007 11:18

Abby, which CP are you going to? We are trying CP in France in 2 weeks time. Hope its as nice as Longleat & Eleveden

AbbyLou · 16/07/2007 11:41

AM we are going to Sherwood Forest. We have never been before and I am eally looking forward to it. It's my special treat before I go back to work full time in October. We are going with the inlaws so will have extra pairs of hands if dh and I want to go off for a bit of pampering or for a meal. I think ds will love it.

largeginandtonic · 16/07/2007 12:20

Abby we went to the Sherwood Forest one, it is fab. I love it so much, you will really enjoy it. They are so geared up for kiddies it is a breeze

Aneme what did your DH do when you were giving birth? The christening sounds lovely, how nice to have you Dad do it for you too.

MrsJB cats, noooooooooooooooo. I'm so allergic to them, they always make a beeline for me too. Cute name though

Lups hope the paint came out, get a stain devil.

I am off to get Beau weighed later as he only put on 7oz in 2 weeks last time. So i have waited 2 weeks and will see what he has done now. He is so different to the others.

AbbyLou · 16/07/2007 14:02

Thanks for that LG&T, if you find it a breeze with all your brood I should be able to do it with my eyes closed with 2 kids and 4 adults! Is there stuff you need to book beforehand and what sort of thngs is there for a 2 and a half year old? Sorry for all the questions but I'm interested to see what ds will be able to do.

Lupins71 · 16/07/2007 14:34

MJG Great sleep , what a fab name for your new kitty,

AM sorry your weekend was a washout - have you seen you can get free tickets for donnington in september its for the wotld series, think it f1 & formula renalut - i got a couple for dp to have a weekend away

LGT thanks for stain devil tip - it looks beyond repair - hope the landlord doesnt turn up, will give that a go

Arghhhhhhhhhhhh one more day of preschool, then its no childcare for 7 weeks, might be greyer at the end of it

largeginandtonic · 16/07/2007 17:52

The pool is fab for spending hours in with the 2 and a half yr old, plenty of play areas dotted around and surrounding where you eat in the dome. If you play tennis\badminton etc (even with littlies) they can play around you. There is a lake with little boats on, a dress up session you can book (to look like a fave super hero) The train ride in to the dome from all the cabins was a firm fave with Jonah when i went (he was nearly 3)

I could have stayed for anothet week it was so restful, the cabin was set in the wood, so very safe for exploring. There will be a barby outside too, go to the shop in the dome get supplies and have them deliver it all back to the chalet.Am very of you going. I went with 5, and Hugo was 5 months. We did the disco too and just let Hugs snooze in his pram wherever we were.

Good luck with the stain devil Lups, it is really good if you get a type specific one.

Im roasting chicken, did not get back from school till 430 so it is going to be another late night for them all, never mind the sun is shinning and there is only 3 days left of the dreaded school run, yay!

MKG · 16/07/2007 17:53

Hi everyone. We're doing good over here. The Beckams has come to the US and everyone is acting like it's the second coming of Christ or something. I mean soccer isn't even that popular here. I guess they're hoping he's going to make it popular or something.

Cruz is doing really well he's started smiling a lot and pretty much slept through the night last night. He went down around 11 and didn't wake up until 7. So he's definitely getting a sticker for good behavior. Ds1 is such a cutie it makes me sick. We were watching "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" and he said "Hi Grandpa" which makes me sad because he doesn't have a grandpa. He also had his first "time out" for running on the sofa, so it makes me sad to think that he's getting so big so fast.

I had a dream that I had another baby, and am very excited about that prospect. But first dh needs to move back into the bedroom.

Pebblemum · 16/07/2007 18:10

Evening all

I have come to the comclusion im either mad or a glutton for punishment. This morning Dh and I took ds2 and his little friend on a trip into Portsmouth on the train, she had never been before so we thought it would be fun. Once there we took them to MacD's for lunch and then back home again. It probably wouldnt have been too bad if it hadnt been for the trains being delayed by up to 30mins both ways and the LO's getting fed up. I then ended up with them both in my back garden for the rest of the day, arguing and squabbling (they are worse than a married couple)If that wasnt bad enough since school kicked out I have had all the other neighbourhood kids in the garden too. Luckily ds1 and two of the older ones have gone to Youth club until 8pm so that only leaves 8 in there arguing over whose turn it is on the trampoline (sometimes wish we never put the thing up lol)
