April Bicarbonate of soda for the itch. I can't rate it highly enough. Even works on heat rash. When I had CP as a child, my mum bathed me in it in cool water, sponged me down with a solution of it, and also made up a paste of it with a little water and stood me on a towel while she dotted the paste on each spot. Took ages and was messy, but it took the itch right out straight away.

LG&T Thank goodness Beau is settling ok in the evenings for you. I suppose he's fallen into the routine of the others. It's nicer for you that he's not spending so long yelling and stressing you at night though. You need the rest! I'm laughing (sorry) at the failed discretion. Arf! What can you do? Nothing!

Lupins for your DP and for you. What a lot you have on your plate. Really hope he starts to improve soon.

MrsJB Lots of babies can't stay awake longer than 45 mins to an hour and that would be after a good nap/ sleep. It increases as they get older. If I don't get A down for a sleep within an hour of her waking she get overtired almost instantly and loses the plot completely.

BTW for those with cranky/ fussy babies: I'm reading "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Dr Marc Weissbluth at the moment (I'm determined to get this baby to learn to go to sleep on her own) and in his studies, he says fussiness (some people would say colic - as in, the early evening crying they do) peaks at around 8 weeks and should be gone or almost gone at around 3 months, latest 4. Really cheered me up! A was 8 weeks yesterday. My back is in bits from holding her for hours every evening. The little monkey even has a preference for me to stand up with her. Sitting down with her over my shoulder doesn't have the same soothing effect. Gagh!

Oh and minipop; A started doing that waking on the hour in the early morning thing. This morning I fed her at 4ish, then went back in at 5ish to pat her back and settle her, when she woke at 6.30 I fed her and then had to settle her again at 7.30 and then when she woke again at 8.30 I got her up. I usually get her up around the 6.30 mark as it's her natural waking time it seems, but she was very tired this morning. Anyway, the idea being that when I go in and she's just fussing with her eyes closed I'm hoping to teach her just to go back to sleep on her own.

What a miserable morning

After a few days of sunshine and thinking that maybe summer is finally here it goes back to being horrible again. No wonder people are getting colds and feeling miserable. Poor ds2 is supposed to be having a Teddy bears picnic at pre-school today to mark the end of the year but now instead of having it outside it looks as though they will have to have it in the hall

Im dreading the next 6wks if this is what the weather is going to be like. Ive been trying to think of nice cheap thing to do to keep the kids entertained but most of it requires at least a bit of warm sunshine.

Alana had a great nights sleep last night 10pm-7.30am. It may have had something to do with the fresh air she got, we had been out in it nearly all day and then we sat in our neighbours garden from 4-7 (we all chipped in and bought fish and chips so none of us had to cook When Alana fell asleep we moved indoors so she wouldnt get a chill and us adults started playing a game on the ps2. It was a junior jungle Buzz game so all four of us were competing against each other at the same time. It was hilarious. It involves lots of mini games that you need to win. My neighbour had only put it on to show me what it was because ds1 wants it but we all got hooked. If you thought kids were competitive then you should have seen us women, the poor kids ended up going back out to play because they werent getting a go. There was no way we were going to stop until we had won lol. I finally had to call it a day at 9pm because Alana was due a feed although she was snoring away quite happily and didnt show any signs of waking at that moment. Im still not sure how she slept through us women laughing and screeching but she did.
In the end I had to wake her up, gave her a quick wash, fed her and by 10pm she was snoring loudly again (ive never known a baby to snore like she does)

Im back to acting my age now though Once again im a mature 29yr old mother who has housework to do and not someone acting like a schookid playing games, it was fun while it lasted though lol.

MKG · 20/07/2007 12:44

Hey everyone!! Cruz and I had a great night last night. Most nights are pretty good, but he doesn't have a pattern as yet. We were both in bed by 10 and he woke up at 2:30 for a feed and then was down by 3 and woke up at 7. I can't complain about that.

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm excited because I'm probably going to see my sister for a week in August. Not excited about a 11 hour drive, but will probably buy ds1 a portable dvd player to soften the blow.

largeginandtonic · 20/07/2007 14:39

An eleven hour drive MKG.....am pretty sure we could drive the entire length of the UK and it would take about 11 hours!

Do you drive an automatic, i recently acquired one and just love it, sooooooooo easy!

I have cleaned and tidied, lectured very naughty twins (a long story) and painted my toe nails..... all ready for dh who will be in at the station about 430

I love it on the games consoles Pebble, i used to be Mario addict on the SNES. Days long gone now though...... MN is my new addiction LOL

GhostWriter · 20/07/2007 14:59

Er... sorry about the last one, so used to doing it 78 times a day that I've started doing it as part of a very bad habit.

GhostWriter · 20/07/2007 15:34

I'll give you a clue.

I'm not Cod.

BefSnork · 20/07/2007 16:34

top tip GW - you may want to change your profile to keep us guessing for more than 1 second

GhostWriter · 20/07/2007 16:38

I waited an enormous hour and twenty minutes for one of you slovenly lot to guess who I am with no takers. So I've migrated my profile across to my new name and sod the lot of you.

BefSnork · 20/07/2007 16:49

like the new name! now can you think of one for the next thread? was thinking of getting sleep, getting out now for getting fit. but its not quite right.

BefSnork · 20/07/2007 16:50

have just been reading the duckling thread. very cute!

GhostWriter · 20/07/2007 16:53

Call it 'The May 2007 Postnatal dilemma- 40 winks or 40 situps'. Pretty apt methinks!

GhostWriter · 20/07/2007 16:57

I like this one. Highly amusing. The ducklings one is sweet.

BefSnork · 20/07/2007 17:01

good thread and good title - new thread here

InTheseShoes · 20/07/2007 17:17

GW - are you SOH??

Pebblemum · 20/07/2007 19:31

GW where have you been, its been quiet on here without you. Your new name didnt fool me SOH (and i havent looked at your profile and cheated either)

My lovely dh (who i could have killed over the past few days because he has been so moody) took me out for a meal this afternoon I had no idea until we pulled into the car park of the restaurant. Luckily Alana was fast asleep so we got to eat our meal in peace.

He then took me to the Pompey shop so I could buy J the brand new kit, it only came out yesterday so he is one of the first ones out of his friends to get it. Not sure what has got into dh I usually have to pester him for days before he will go there today I just mentioned it in passing and hey presto we were there. Im sure he is trying to butter me up for something lol.

J is over the moon with his new top, at £34.99 Im glad I only needed to buy the one. E doesnt really care if he has the new kit yet as long as he has a pompey top.

Spoke to my friend again today and her waters are still leaking, its due to the infection at the top of the cervix. She is only 28wks so im really hoping the baby holds on for a few weeks yet. She has had leaky waters with a couple of her other pg's but always after 30wks and has managed to hang on until at least 36wks before giving birth, I dont think she is as confident this time around.

HelpPls · 20/07/2007 20:36

Pebble I alway have low water - not so much with this pg but defo with willow, shpuldnt be too much of a problem if they are aware of it

Welcome back SOH GW - you didnt fool me it was the over use of your norks lol!!

What a day weather wise - we live on a hill and it was flooded FFS!! the water was leaking through our back door, due to thi sthere was only 1 other lady at meet up - she was very nice and our dd's played nicely

Pebblemum · 20/07/2007 21:01

Ok so who is going to Asda at midnight to get the new Harry Potter book for £5???

My neighbour is taking her dd and has offered to take ds1 if he can stay awake lol. If he gets one i expect i will be sat up all night reading it

Pebblemum · 21/07/2007 00:21

I got the new Harry Potter book

J was the 3rd person in the queue. Hes came home with his face painted, been stuffing his face on free chocolate and has had his photo taken by the local newspaper so now im going to have to kwwp an eye out to see if he is in it.

Right im off to read my book lol. c u in the morning

Lupins71 · 22/07/2007 03:33

Pebble hope ur enjoying HP, must fet hold of a copy soon

Can you believe it, Arlen had his longest sleep yet, 6hrs, I went to bed early so i could catch up, and now am so refreshed after not expecting a good 4hrs uninterupted that I am wide awake, just tidied up downstairs - got bottles ready to take to il's tomorrow and am now eating toast, he is really benefiting from food, before bed we made a pot of mashed up and sieved banana with baby rice and he polished the lot off sat there with a great big satisfied smile as if to say MORRRREEEE I LIKE IT!! greedy bugger, wouldnt mind but half hour later he still finishes a 5-6oz milk feed

Hope ev1 is having a nice weekend,

MKG · 22/07/2007 04:34

Lupins it still seems crazy that Arlen is having real food already. The time has gone so fast.

Lupins71 · 22/07/2007 08:24

AbbyLou · 23/07/2007 16:01
