April Bicarbonate of soda for the itch. I can't rate it highly enough. Even works on heat rash. When I had CP as a child, my mum bathed me in it in cool water, sponged me down with a solution of it, and also made up a paste of it with a little water and stood me on a towel while she dotted the paste on each spot. Took ages and was messy, but it took the itch right out straight away.
LG&T Thank goodness Beau is settling ok in the evenings for you. I suppose he's fallen into the routine of the others. It's nicer for you that he's not spending so long yelling and stressing you at night though. You need the rest! I'm laughing (sorry) at the failed discretion. Arf! What can you do? Nothing!
Lupins for your DP and for you. What a lot you have on your plate. Really hope he starts to improve soon.
MrsJB Lots of babies can't stay awake longer than 45 mins to an hour and that would be after a good nap/ sleep. It increases as they get older. If I don't get A down for a sleep within an hour of her waking she get overtired almost instantly and loses the plot completely.
BTW for those with cranky/ fussy babies: I'm reading "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Dr Marc Weissbluth at the moment (I'm determined to get this baby to learn to go to sleep on her own) and in his studies, he says fussiness (some people would say colic - as in, the early evening crying they do) peaks at around 8 weeks and should be gone or almost gone at around 3 months, latest 4. Really cheered me up! A was 8 weeks yesterday. My back is in bits from holding her for hours every evening. The little monkey even has a preference for me to stand up with her. Sitting down with her over my shoulder doesn't have the same soothing effect. Gagh!
Oh and minipop; A started doing that waking on the hour in the early morning thing. This morning I fed her at 4ish, then went back in at 5ish to pat her back and settle her, when she woke at 6.30 I fed her and then had to settle her again at 7.30 and then when she woke again at 8.30 I got her up. I usually get her up around the 6.30 mark as it's her natural waking time it seems, but she was very tired this morning. Anyway, the idea being that when I go in and she's just fussing with her eyes closed I'm hoping to teach her just to go back to sleep on her own.
