Well done, lysette - you are doing so well with losing weight And well done Jacob with the lumps Glad you had a nice time - the air is much fresher up here - could be why!

Ceebee74 · 21/05/2007 20:06

Thanks for the new thread Lysettes - and very apt title I feel. Glad you had a good weekend.

HC - you will laugh about the christening one day, I promise. Glad everything else went ok - am full of admiration that you coped with organising that on top of your low moods At FIL's funeral, one of the hearses broke down outside the church and we had to get the AA out - not funny at the time but 10 years later, it raises a smile.

KZ - about Roshi being ill again. I totally sympathise as I have a very sicky baby aswell - fortunately Josh is having a good week and not gagging or puking on his food but I know only too well it can go downhill quickly again. Hope she picks up soon.

Kbaby - lol at the photo of DS in the cupboard - what does it say about me that my first thought was 'wow what tidy cupboards you have' Mine must have tins dating from at least 5 years ago (when we moved into this house)

Have to tell you ladies about Josh's tea tonight - I am so proud of him. We went out for tea and he ate some brie and bread from our starters, a couple of mouthfuls of rare steak, some creamy garlicky potatoes, loads of peas and french beans and then some caramel cheesecake and chocolate ice-cream. I know it doesn't sound like much and volume-wise it wasn't, but it was the fact that he ate it all without gagging, puking or anything - and it was the first meal we have had where he has felt part of it iykwim. (Dh also dipped his finger in his red wine and gave it to him twice which I was not impressed about - but ho hum) Not the healthiest of teas but me and DH loved feeling a family. He also drank 8oz of milk when we got back!!

Diet starts tomorrow ladies - and Annie, NO BOOZE!

ImpyChica · 21/05/2007 20:33

Hi Laydeeez

Thanks for all your kind words/support when Ry was ill - it was horrid and took a week to get over but he's back to his monkey-madness self now....

KZ - great pix of the mini-meet-up! Wish I could have been there.... The one of Roshi sleeping is adorable too. Ry does that pose sometimes too - funny little things, aren't they? Hope she gets over her illness soon - it's so frustrating when they seem to pick up everything that's going - I'm sure she's getting it all out of her system in one go and will be fighting fit next winter.

usnosleep - sorry things have been so tough for you. Got finger's crossed that you can work through your problems.

Thanks for the 'picnic' idea CB and others - was just wondering how to introduce more food into the day easily and that sounds perfect (if messy...!) And Josh is just more adorable by the day (even with the Chelsea kit on ) (so I support the rubbish Lincoln Imps who got knocked out of the League One play-offs for the fifth year in a row - so shoot me!) V impressed with his dietary intake too! I need to get Ryan into more adventurous tastes....

Exciting news on the twins Auntie Annie! Kind of scary at the same time...! There are triplet boys in the flat above ours who are a year older than Ryan and man are they hard work! And they don't go to bed until about 10pm....!

Don't worry about Thomas' talking, French - Einstein didn't start talking till he was three....

Glad the christening went well HC - defintely sounds memorable! Your vicar sounds a right berk!

Cute pix Kbaby - he looks like a right monkey!

Hello to everyone else. Re. the first b-day planning - I'm just starting to design the invitation/plan it... am thinking of arranging to meet people and their kids in main park here in Madrid for a picnic style party. Not v exciting but don't really have room in the flat and it'll probably be about 40º by then - so a shady park will be just the ticket. YOU'RE ALL INVITED!!!. Can't believe it's only a month and a bit away..... this time last year and all that!

DP left for India today..... [sob] One day down, 20 to go....

jacobandlysette · 21/05/2007 20:36

kz forgot to say sorry for roshi being ill again. I don't know if it could be helpful but when we saw the paed because jacob seemed to be on and off vomitting lot of the time - a good week and then a bad week, he said that if they have a number of viruses all together or one after the other, they can sometimes develop secondary reflux.

and strangely enough the thing that seems to have kicked jacob's is a course of antibiotics! they reckon that he never really got rid of the original sickness virus poor little man coping so well!

Hi all

kayzed-soz Roshi is not well again poor little love.

jacobandlysette-thanks for the new thread. Am hoping that Sophie starts cruising by the time the thread is full.

Impy-you will have to cross the days off on the calendar with a thick marker pen. Hope you will be OK.

Ceebee-stayed the same this week. Have been finishing off bits of quiche and other totally unhealthy things so am full up and fed up with feeling bloated. I did enjoy eating it but felt guilty afterwards. Am starting tomorrow as there is a Snickers bar in the fridge with my name on it.

Have been to the Drs this morning and after waiting an hour to see him I went in and he said 'are you suicidal?' I said 'no'. So he prescribed another 4 weeks of AD's and opened the door for me. So was in less than 2 mins.

DH is out on his bike so am fretting as it is the first time since his friend died that he has been out on it.

Love to all.

xxx

sorry Roshi is poorly again KZ. Love her bum in the air photo. LOL at plaster story, how revolting!

The Tobster sleeps on his tum, and wakes up and shuffles backwards till he is stuck at the end of his cot, and whinges for help. At, of course, circa 5am. I ignore him mostly, and pray for him to go back to sleep....

Impy, I'm gearing up for Toby's joint baptism and 1st birthday party at the end of August, and Harry's 3rd birthday party in September, starting early to be mega organised. I used this photo of Harry for his 1st birthday invites and intend to get a similar one of Toby for his.....

HC - agree with others, your vicar was a total berk, how stressful for you........

kbaby · 21/05/2007 21:55

Oh a lovely new thread.

Not much happening here. Im busy trying to sort out DD?s party. Were doing a princess theme, she has the Disney princess plates etc and ive managed to trawl the web for crown and tiara templates so that they can all make one to wear out of foam and glitter etc.

I did however take my eye off DS for 2 secs while gardening tonight and caught him with a mouthful of soil and from the looks of him it wasn?t his 1st. DD was just concerned in case he ate a worm.

Kayzed- Sorry she is ill again. I hope the summer improves for you and her. Your spa day sounds like just what you need.

Ceebee- I do the same when looking at anyones pictures, after checking out the baby I look at the background. The reason they are so tidy is that I am organised (read anal) and cant bare clutter. Drives DH mental. Well done to Josh, hope he enjoyed his meal.

kbaby · 21/05/2007 21:58

Forgot to tell you all. After squashing DS tonight and being told off, DD asked when were we taking the baby back

prettymum · 21/05/2007 22:07

kbaby can you come over to mine and sort all our cupboards out, they are all so cluttered!!

hc- at your vicar forgetting everything!! at your doc too at not talking to you properly! you seem to be handling everything very well

kz- hope roshi gets better soon lol at roshi and plaster!

ooh prison break on, will come back to finish off

jacobandlysette · 22/05/2007 09:21

oooh I'm first on this morning! Bloss where are you?????

I'm only taking pictures at other places before putting them on here - our place is a tip all day and tidied up at night! My (well worn) excuse is that we are in a smaller place than used to so we have too much clutter!

another good meal for Jacob - it's such a great improvement for us that he is eating more. Doesn't take much in by himself, more just plays with it (BLWs will shoot me!) so takes most of it from me, but if he's geting the food into him at this stage I don't mind so much.

What are people saying when asked about gifts for 1st birthdays? My mum asked yesterday and I suggested she get a token gift and put some money in the savings account they have opened. Is that too mercinary of me? It's just that we get him things as he needs them (I guess the same dilemma as at christmas!) so he doesn't really need that much on special occasions yet. What do you all think?

HC - boo at your doctor! I think you are doing brilliantly.

O'h and whoever asked if we get rivers of snot when los are teething - it ends up like the amazon here!

xxx everyone have a great day in the sun!

OP posts:
Ceebee74 · 22/05/2007 09:40

Lysette - interesting what your paed said about the secondary reflux - I am convinced that Josh ended up with that as from when he started nursery in Jan, he has had bug after bug and was on and off vomiting all the time (usually preceded with a coughing fit) - thankfully it has subsided now (touch wood) and he hasn't been sick since early last week.

Re presents, I am asking for clothes so that his next size wardrobe starts to build up. Same as you re toys etc - we buy him stuff regularly. In terms of our present, we went to Toys R Us yesterday and they have a Thomas train set suitable for 12 months + - Josh loves Thomas - but it costs £80! Wasn't planning on spending that much on him when he won't appreciate it but he would love it so much.....any thoughts?

HC - hope the Snickers was yummy. Re-joining you today on the diet (last nights meal was the last blow out for me and DH).

KZ - lol at Roshi swinging the 'willy' - must have been hard to keep a straight face!

Forgot to say yesterday that I took Josh to be weighed and he was 19lb 4oz - since he has been stuck at 18lb 5oz since January, it is such a relief that he has started to put weight on again - although he has chubby wrists and legs so I knew that he was ok.

And yes, rivers of snot here too - I thought it was bugs he was picking up at nursery but I now think it is connected to teething as it seems to coincide with red cheeks and nappy rash - still only 2 teeth even though we must have had at least 5 episodes of snot, red cheeks and bad nappy rash

Hi to everyone else - hope you all have a good day today x

jacobandlysette · 22/05/2007 09:56

hi ceebee - the thomas thing sounds great, but it's not cheap is it! how long will it last for? is it something he can be using for say 12-18 months? if so then it may be worth it?

Jacob just fell off the bed luckily it's quite low but it has taught me just how quickly he is moving! lots of tears but also he was very tired so i think that was something to do with the amount of tears!

OP posts:
Ceebee74 · 22/05/2007 09:59

Hey Lysette- hope Jacob is ok. Josh had a little accident with a mug of tea this morning . I literally popped out to the kitchen to rinse out his breakfast bowl and came back and he had crawled over to the table, stodd up and poured the tea all over himself and the floor - fortunately it wasn't hot but just shows how careful we have to be doesn't it?

Ceebee74 · 22/05/2007 10:00

Oh and the Thomas set - the next train set they had was for over 3 years so hopefully he would use it until he was big enough for that - but whether he would or not, who knows?

prettymum · 22/05/2007 10:03

regarding birthday gifts, we dont want no more toys as our flat is tiny and we have so many of dds toys that go unused! i think if people were to ask what to give, it would be either money towards his savings account or clothes as he's growing out of his clothes.

lysette- really good that jacob is eating more solids!! junior prefers paper to solids! he is so good at eating paper(obviously i stop him as soon as i see it going towards his mouth), but when it comes to food, he just likes to squeeze them between his fingers!

MaeWest · 22/05/2007 11:27

Morning all - turns out DS's snottiness is lurgy related, he has been waking frequently at night coughing up a storm, poor lad. I even took him to see the nurse this morning just to check that it wasn't anything more sinister but just a virus she said. I can see teeth in the gum, so he's got it all going on at the mo.

Good to hear from you HC, good on you for organising the Christening, I'm a complete heathen . I did say to DH that he could sort something out for the boy if he wanted to (his family are Catholic) but he didn't seem that bothered. Sorry your GP wasn't more helpful.

HumphreysCorner · 22/05/2007 12:25

Morning all

Yes, how much gunge can you possibly get from a baby's nose. Sophie has catarrh streaming out and it ends up covering her face and has done for a couple of weeks now. When I was holding her in church I was permanently wiping her nose hence the permanent screaming.

Hope the accident prone babes are OK now. Sophie pulled the hoover over this morning-missed her but startled her a tad. Won't stop her though. She also won't stop eating the soil out of my plants.

HV spent another hour with me this morning but is not coming again until 2 weeks time so she must think I have improved.

Ref our barmy Vicar. When we got married DH and I were highly delighted when he said unfortunately he was on holiday and would have to get a stand-in Vicar to officiate. Phewee!!!!! The stand-in one was truly a Godsend.

Here is a pic taken in the church-not brill but as my FIL seemed incapable of taking pics as asked we only got the 1 somewhat blurred pic. Will post more when I get some more sent to me. Sophie's Christening (at least it is tidy in the background I also scrutinise what floors and walls you all have-he he )

Love to all

Hi Girls!

Better night last night, K only woke twice, and DS once (missed that one though) and we all slept til 6.30!

You girls are an inspiration! I didn't touch a drop last night! Yaay! It was offered, twice by DH, and even when he has one I'm always tempted to have a slug of his, but last night I resisted. I thought of coming on here and admitting failure, and I thought, no, this time I'll do it.
So, tonight's another story. I will do it, I will do it...
Bloss, how're you doing? I'll let you off on Wednesday, since you're Bloss! None tonight though! Numpty, you too?!

Thanks for the new thread, Lysettes!

Yesterday morning, at the crack, DS asked for Peppa Pig on the telly. Kayley, stood holding on to the couch, turned round, pointed at the (off) telly, and clearly said 'Peppa'.

Must go girls, will catch up properly later

Annie
