Right ladies this is going to be used as a tip's, questions and answers etc thread for those of us who have had our babies and can't keep up with the chat on the other thread. (my word those ladies can talk)

And of course everyone is welcome to post on here the more advice etc the better.

Time to start a new thread ellie??????

nuttygirl · 03/05/2007 20:07

Pinions - sorry to hear your LO has thrush, hope it clears up soon.

Liath - Thanks for the offer but DH got me some spatone this afternoon so hopefully that'll stop the constipation.

Eca - at your gp. It's so annoying how much it's drummed into you during pgcy that breast is best and then you get no support/treatment/etc when you need it. The doc I see at the mo is very nice (he said if the change of laxatives didn't work I didn't need to come in for another appointment I could just ring and he'd sort it out something else for me to try) but would prefer it if he could have just changed the iron tablets to one that doesn't cause constipation...don't they think we suffer enough in pgcy & birth!

Right I'm off for a bath.

nuttygirl · 03/05/2007 20:08

Oh and pinions - yes I get v embarrassed, I'm shy to begin with so all these strangers coming up talking to me is a bit unnerving!!!!

eca · 03/05/2007 20:54

Pinions - glad to hear you've worked out what was wrong. Hope it clears up ok. My mw mentioned to me what to look out for etc. I assumed it was routine, but then again "routine" varies wildly from area to area doesn't it. Anyway, well done hon at spotting it.

nutty enjoy your bath!

Just switched on the end of that program on mw's in the nhs. There's a couple who's baby died . That's awful. I REALLY hope that the nhs starts to sort the problems with funding more mws. It's bad. And I feels so sorry for mws who have to cope with it all. I saw a poster in the docs today about being on a consultation panal about midwifery services in the area. Am thinking maybe I should get involved

EllieKthePA · 03/05/2007 21:11

go for it Eca, the more women volunteer fir things like that the more chance there is of change happening

EllieKthePA · 03/05/2007 21:13

on the new thread idea - i thought maybe we just keep going with this one until we're all here? we can go up to 1000 posts before it stops functioning, and Emmymummy can't go that overdue, surely

eca · 03/05/2007 21:21

hi ellie. Did you decide on a dress? Was it the ham one?

EllieKthePA · 03/05/2007 21:22

yep
i emailed them and they reckon i need a medium but i can send it back if it's wrong so am about to take the plunge ..........

octo · 03/05/2007 21:23

I have time to myself ...

Pinions - glad you got the thrush sorted - hope feeding gets better now xx

MIAM - the lady from babyblooms came to a babyshow I organised last spring - they were really nice people and the product was lovely - there are a few companies doing it now - but I would recommend babyblooms

The things I really despise are those nappy cakes - being a clothie they are simply landfill bound trash - sorry if anyone has one

Maveta - not sure if still engorged over in sunny majorca but it should calm down soon and then you can start squirting your milk at Noah - saves him latching on! Hope the feeding goes well - any nappies been tried yet??? I have a bamboo velour nappy for you to test - Maisiemog on here made it for Ernie as a tester but he has ougrown it email me your address again.

Blocked noses - you need a nose sucker - one of those nasal aspirators that looks like a chicken baster - works wonders!!! Think they are made by safety first and cost about £3 - simply squeeze and suck the snot out!!! [bleurrghh] but works brilliantly!

My milk supply seems completely haywire - sometimes have loads and get painful letdown other times seem empty - not sure what is going on but am making sure he stays on longer so that he gets hindmilk.

Off to bed now - try and catch up on some sleep before the night shift Will be thinking of you all at 2am - with the milk monster munching away and me scoffing my milky ways

Last thought for the evening - why oh why so you struggle to get them latched on when they are screaming the oudest or you are really tired....

Last bit again - have now fed in two restaurants, on a bus, in the car several times, at soft play and in Costa coffee twice Not as hard as I thought it would be and no-one has said anything yet which is good - might have cried if anyone was rude - have been discreet but is difficult to disguise when he suddenly pulls off, head flung back, screams, muslin falls off and nip left exposed to all Hey ho !!

eca · 03/05/2007 21:28

After the disaster that was me trying to buy a couple of new tops yesterday, I have a horrible feeling that I'm going to spend the next 6months in PJ's with my boobs located somewhere south of my waist. AHHHHH!!!

And to make it worse I met someone the other day with a 3wk old baby looking slim and lovely. And I'm sure those jeans she was wearing weren't maternity ones !!!!

eca · 03/05/2007 21:32

hi octo! What on earth is a nappy cake?????? & LOL at "milk monster" I think I have one of those too !

octo · 03/05/2007 21:36

eca - I have bought a couple of bump bands off ebay and am wearing them with my pre-pg clothes - work really well. Can't quite do the zips/buttons up but the band covers that bit up and the wobbly belly - esp when feeding! I have lost a considerable amount of weight though - not through diet or anything - must be the feeding monster

What I really hate is the damp boob feeling - when you've leaked and missed the breastpad, but its 3am and the thought of finding another bra in the dark is way beyond comprehension so just change breastpad and keep damp bra on [yuk]

am def off to bed now zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

EllieKthePA · 03/05/2007 21:38

are you sure it wasn't me you met Eca
i'm looking slim and ultra lovely

EllieKthePA · 03/05/2007 21:39

night Octo

octo · 03/05/2007 21:40

ooh you need to google 'nappy cake' - can't do links I'm afraid.

sorry - would love to stay and chat but sleep is calling!

octo · 03/05/2007 21:41

oh and did I mention that I picked up my ruby and diamond eternity ring today I have so earnt it!

EllieKthePA · 03/05/2007 21:42

good for you Octo
almost worth having another to see what the next present would be?

octo · 03/05/2007 21:46

It would have to be a toss up between a girl or diamond bracelet No more babies here though - and this time I mean it. Its our 10 year anniv next year - next diamond installment will be then DH has already picked out a Tag Heuer watch - costs about £1600 - really must start saving ...

Over and out

Octo xxxx

eca · 03/05/2007 21:46

ooooo >>> Night Octo. Enjoy the late shift with Ernie!

Ellie - I don't think anyone should be allowed on this thread who is looking slim and lovely already It will just make the rest of us look even worse!

EllieKthePA · 03/05/2007 21:51

ok ladies, add your details to this thread please

Sexonknackeredlegs · 03/05/2007 21:51

Hi ladies, just a quick post before I go to bed. Apologiesas I haven't had time to read things properly, but Octo, our ring sounds fabulous darling!

BOTTLE FEEDING MUMS

Which formula are you using?

Also, K seems to be fine going 3 to 4 hours between feeds during the day, and then we get to 6.00/7.00p.m. and she has a 4oz bottle, but then 2 hours later - without having fallen asleep in between times, needs a top up of another 1 or 2 oz's to get her to settle. Is anyone else experiencing this type of frenzy!?

Hope all you lovely mummies are ok. Lots of love - must go to bed. xx

eca · 03/05/2007 22:06

right - am off to bed. Soooooo tired. Ellie - lol at your thread. Will post tomorrow, if i dare get the tape measure out that is!!

EllieKthePA · 03/05/2007 22:13

ahhh go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on

muminasaggytummy · 04/05/2007 09:40

Morning....and yes it feels like a good one! HURRAY

My wonderful mother sensed impending meltdown yesterday and took James for the night. Also I cannot tell you how much more settled Robyn has been since last night when I started using that Coleif in her bottle. I nearly dropped down at the chemists though...it's about £10 a bottle and the bottle is TINY....however it was so worth it as she is so much better and I got 8 hrs sleep in total last night...the most I've had for ages. She fed at 8pm went till midnight, back down for 12.55 and up again at 5, back down for 5.45 and then up at 8.30!!

SOSKL - Robyn tends to do the same as katie in the afternoon, she will ony take 3oz and then want the rest an hour or so later before she will have a sleep, but at other times she will take nearly 5 oz in one go...I don't like to force the issue tho as I hate it when I feel she has taken on so much milk she looks like she wil pop!

Pinions - so glad you got sorted out and know what was the matter.

I didn't watch that maternity Panorama last night...have to say that from what I saw in hospital it is the "powers that be" that need the kick up the arse...whoever allows two dedicated midwives to have to deal with 28 women and baby's should be shot. The midwives at Preston are all angels but put anyone under pressure and very difficult circumstances and terrible mistakes are bound to happen..IMO
x

Right wil go and get a shower as Robyn is just lying in her chair watching me and looks like she is about to nod off
xx

Eddas · 04/05/2007 10:05

SOKL, Harry is on Aptamil. I used Farleys with Georgia and that was good too. Only changed this time because my local Tesco no longers sells Farleys so went for the Aptamil as have had good reports from it. What are you using?

Also H had a really funny feeding day yesterday. Normally he takes 4oz at every bottle(think it's time to up it to 5) and feeds every 3 hours, but yesterday he was screaming after 2 hours. Obviously having a growth day, he slept pretty much all day too. And he then seems to go a little longer during the night which is nice. Yesterday he fed at 5pm, 7pm, 1.30am, 4.30am then 8.30 this morning.

Hello everyone>> H now waking so off to see what's up, surely not food again
