Hi All just place marking Smile

Carolann8584 · 20/07/2017 20:24

How is everyone today?

I feel like I've had a productive day (at last)

DD has been a little chatter box today, had some good naps which left me free to catch up on a lot around the house. Even painted a wall in her room! All ready for Nana to come round tomorrow to wallpaper (I can't do it, the feel of paste knocks me sick)

So with an evening to myself, OH is out and DD had her bath, fed and has been asleep since 7 Grin. Had myself a cheeky pizza for tea now waiting for my bath to run. Best day in a really long time Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/07/2017 21:31

Bad day/afternoon here. Had 4mth jabs and dd howled 3 times as 3 jabs :(

Snoozed on me and calpol bless her

May have a bad night. Who knows

Tho lesst no more injections till 12/13mths

Carolann8584 · 20/07/2017 21:54

Awww blondes hope your LO feels better.

DD only just had her first jabs, missed them at 8 weeks coz she had the chicken pox. Will have next ones on the 1st of August I think

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/07/2017 22:31

Wow. Bless her for having cp as a newborn baby :(

Did she have it bad? Sometimes can have again if have as a baby :(

Carolann8584 · 20/07/2017 22:59

She didn't have them bad, only had about 12-15 spots (counted daily lol) bit of a decrease in appetite that's it. Her older brothers had them first that's where she got them from. She only saw them 1 day that week as they live with their mum but it was enough for her to catch them

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/07/2017 23:44

Easily done - don't need to spend much time with someone to catch it

Years ago - think 16 - now showing my age - but took charges to a 2nd birthday party. Following day out popped my 2yr with the the pox - havnt a clue who she caught it from

2w later every child at that party - about 30 - caught chicken pox 😳😳😳

Felt bad but didn't know she was carrying as most /highly infectious /contagious just before they pop

2nd time -another job. Was with family for 5yrs. Eldest caught it before I looked after her - mum wanted the then 9mth to catch it. Plus had sibling no 3 born into job and mum wanted born to catch it

I spent 5yrs seeing people /children who had cp and both never caught it. On my last day we popped a birthday card into friends house who had cp. stayed maybe 5mins and I left the job as you gest going to nursery

2w later both children then 3&6 came done with cp

Typical 😂

purpleviolet1 · 21/07/2017 20:37

Haha blondes!

Two questions please

  1. what do you put on your LO when they are going into gro bag?
  2. anyone else finding their LO needs more entertaining now? Mine isn't happy in the bouncer as he wants to be upright. Very happy in jumperoo though. He's got 6/7 toys which I try and rotate but all very simple ones. Maybe I need to get something more adventurous

Sorry can I add a third - can anyone recommend where I can buy supportive shoes for when he is in the jumperoo? It's on a hard floor and I think he needs strong footwear to prevent him hurting his foot when he's really going for it

Much appreciated Grin

DS doesn't like his bouncer as much any more, either. He sometimes does little sit-ups when he's lying on his changing mat or play mat, clearly wants to be sitting up! So we've been helping him to sit as much as possible. But he can often wriggle about very happily on his play mat for quite a while. He is chewing everything at the moment! He likes small things he can grip and put in his mouth. Also soft books. And a Whoozit toy which he seems to really love!

We don't have a jumperoo and haven't been using Grobags really so can't answer those.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/07/2017 03:59
  1. Long sleeved vest as dd gets cold arms and gro bag 1 tog unless really hot/room 28* :( and shirt sleeve vest and .5 tog

She sleeps better not naked in gro bag

  1. Bouncer ok for 10mins but likes to see what's going on. Often sit her on floor propped by feeding pillow so upright with rattles /tethers

Has a lot of toys as in rattles. Chewy small things but many more for when she is sitting up /can play

  1. Folded towel

I'm up at silly o clock as dd still not happy with jabs. Bless her. Legs where jabbed red and swollen tho know that normal

She's asleep now after milk - first in ages - better not get used to milk again in the night .......... - and quick cuddle - and nurofen as slight temp

Nappies - pampers do 12hr ones. Bout £8 a pack 🙀🙀🙀 but work

They seem to be the only brand that do hold in 12hrs of pee. Boots own 12hrs don't.

Bed for me now 😴😴😴😴😴

Hopefully dd should sleep till 730 now

purpleviolet1 · 22/07/2017 10:23

Morning ladies thanks for that!!!

Posted too quick - oh no blondes hope she is better today. DS woke at 6.45, had milk and play and went back to sleep at 8.30. Still sleeping Hmm we have a party to attend today though so happy for him to sleeep now. I'm going to have a quick shower and start getting ready.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/07/2017 16:37

Yes happy today. Good old nurofen

Df and I are out out tonight on a date !!!

Can't wait. First since been born

100yearsdotcom · 23/07/2017 00:10

If anyone has any tips on how to get baby to swallow medicine rather than spitting it out I'd really appreciate it! DD finally got diagnosed with reflux this week but we can't get the liquid omeprazole into her!

purpleviolet1 · 23/07/2017 07:08

no tips I'm afraid... DS has been having omeprazole dissolved in water since 11 weeks and I say to him 'ahhhhh' and he opens his mouth. He does make a funny face as he tastes it but thankfully let's me administer it to him. I offer a small quantity at a time and wait until he swallows before offering more.

Blondes can I ask how many feeds you offer during daytime hours? Would you mind posting your schedule? I had it working quite nicely but he is waking up closer to 6 now whereas before he was sleeping till 7.30am even.

Hugh
Ah sorry you're unwell, mastitis sucks! Try not to beat yourself up too much about waiting before starting on the antibiotics, you weren't to know it wouldn't clear up without them. FWIW when I had mastitis I felt awful (flu symptoms including fever) and the antibiotics kicked in pretty fast. I didn't have to go into hospital for an IV or anything like that!
Hope your DP is taking good care of you and you feel better soon Flowers

NameChange30 · 23/07/2017 11:45

What's difene btw?

purpleviolet1 · 23/07/2017 11:48

Oh Hugh Flowers I had what was nearly- Mastitis and it was bloody agony. You weren't to know it would come back worse. Hope you feel better soon!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2017 12:47

@100. I find gravity the best way. Have baby laying in arms and tilt head lower and squirt slowly in

With omeprazole I have mixed with 5ml of apple juice to take taste away

@purple. 5 day feeds every 3hrs and a df so 6 in all. Will type out in a tick

@hugh. Ouch 💐 I would always advise antibs is doc says about them. Or else you get where you are now

Difene is Diclofenac. Good for pain and inflammation

If bf doc should give you antibs that shouldn't upset dd stomach. Tho Obv some do

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2017 13:27

So decide what time you want the day to start 7 730 or god forbid 6/630 😉

Stick to that. So even if a bad night always get your baby up at that time and start the day again

I find 7/730 works well for all jobs I've done but also for my dd

She naturally wakes 7/730

So start the day with a feed. Have 1.5hrs /2 awake time then nap 1./1.5 hrs

Keep doing this in a 3hr cycle So

730 feed
Then awake /activity etc
9 sleep for 60/90mins

1030 feed
Then awake/activity etc
12 sleep for 60/90 mins

130 feed
Awake
3 sleep 60/90mins

430 feed
Awake
530/6 20min nap. Awake by 6 no matter what

6 either split feed or bath
630 feed
7 bed

Df at 11 unless wakes 10/1030

Then she sleeps till 730am Today 750
And then woke her

Wouldn't usually go past 730 but thought as has jabs other day she's still a bit under the weather so left her

I did move her to 4hr feeds - so 730 1130 330 and 7ish bed

But wasn't as happy

3hrs she takes 5/6 pet feed so 25/30oz

4hrs was 7oz so 28

So not a lot diffeent in volumne

Carolann8584 · 23/07/2017 14:46

blondes thanks for that. Don't think I could get it to work for my DD she like 2 long naps 9:30-11/11:30 and at 3-5ish with a 45 min nap in the middle.

We have been managing on 1 night feed the past few nights at 4am. So she has her last feed at 7ish then the next one is 4am she will wake then even if a df at 11. But will go back to sleep til 7

purpleviolet1 · 23/07/2017 15:04

Thanks blonde! DS is on about the same volume. We are on the 4 hour cycle and it works mostly well for us to have 4 daytime feeds and df. I've noticed when his gums are bothering him he isn't taking as much milk though and I think that's contributing to the early awake time. I'm going to move the df back to 10.30 (instead of 10 which we have been doing more recently) and see how that works out for us.

It's great to hear how it works for others as ofcourse each baby is different and the next child could benefit from a different routine. Thanks all!
