Waves to all :)

Mam teats are best for bf/Bottle

I file baby blondes nails. Used to cut for years (I'm a nanny and maternity nurse) and tho never cut skin care close a few times

Far easier to file. Have a mini manicure most Mornings after milky

Poogate this am. Woke dd up 730 and smiled at me and lifted her and omg. All yellow

Thro nappy - thro vest - thro gro bag - into cot sheet 🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀

Vest in bin. Wasn't even going to attempt to wash it

Perfectly normal for some ebf babies to not go for 7/10 days

Tho some will po0 3/5

Not daily is fine

NameChange30 · 17/07/2017 16:59

Hi 100years! DS is breastfed but has the occasional bottle of expressed milk. We were using Avent teats but switched to MAM after he started refusing the bottle (which we think was teething related).
Did you get your DD's tongue tie divided? DS had tongue tie and feeding was much better after we got it divided.

Carol You're not a shit mum lovely. Flowers

Carolann8584 · 17/07/2017 17:06

Thanks ladies. I've calmed down now. DD seems fine, took a good 10 mins of hand holding to stop the bleeding, she didn't understand why I wouldnt let her chew that hand , bless her

100yearsdotcom · 17/07/2017 17:14

Flowers carolann

Well.... she can go 2-3 weeks between poos quite happily, and all the methods to get her to poo don't work until she's ready to go. The lactation consultant and midwives all say she's fine....

We didn't have the tie divided as she is feeding fine and putting on weight really well. When she was checked they said it'd only heal back to the same position anyway cos it's so far back and the thing that's causing problems is the arched palate, which just has to flatten naturally over time.

purpleviolet1 · 17/07/2017 20:16

Welcome blonde! Grin congrats on your dd and sorry to hear of your struggles. I also had a difficult journey although mine was more health related on my part and then I went onto have two miscarriages. I look at him and can't believe he is all mine!

Welcome 100! Glad we could help Smile

Carolann Flowers my mum was doing DS nails today with new clippers I bought from boots as I can't work the baby scissors and she managed to pinch his skin and he cried too. No blood but the clipper bloody broke during it so think it was a faulty one.

Thanks for the advice re changing up to next level teats. DS was on level 3 (recommended for 6 months) so I really didn't think he needed to move up, however we have tried level 4 ( recommended for 9 months) and he seems to be managing ok, dribbling a little but he has taken more milk albeit still less than normal. I'm pleased! Also started adding the vanilla essence again to his milk as it tastes so disgusting and I added it initially to get him Used to the taste. I thought he had got used to the taste but maybe not.....

@purpleviolet1 - does your ds have cmpa and on revolting prescribed formula - neocate or nutri

A larger teat does help and sure after a few feeds he will be able to suck less and dribble less as he learns to control the flow

We have had think 7 disgusting poos today. And sooooooo much dribble. Teeth are def moving

purpleviolet1 · 17/07/2017 23:23

Yes blondes.. he is on nutramigen. It absolutely stinks and I don't know how the poor soul drinks it 😞 hope you have no more poos! Is this your first?

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2017 23:38

It is foul. Had many babies on it and amazed they drink it as tastes yuk

You would think the manufactures could add a mild flavouring to make better

Yes my first baby. And last pmsl

Nice to have one that I don't have to give back :)

Agreed blonde! How many years have you been looking after babies?

Hugh hope the temp came down.

DS had jags today. A little grizzly nothing major. He's loving the cold teethers! Having more milk thankfully.

He was mostly ok but I did give calpol for a few doses and nurofen twice today to stay on top of it as he has had a low grade fever with teething as well. He has been quite grizzly and I've been giving him extra cuddles. Has the temp calmed down now? Hopefully that's the worst of it over. Glad there isn't anymore until 1 year!

DS is scared of the hoover it appears. He has a concentrating face for the first few seconds and then starts crying as if he is really scared. It's really cute but a bit of a pain as well! Think I'll have to leave the house with him and let DH get on with it GrinGrin

That's great Carol! DS was weighed last week and he's still tracking his percentile thankfully. Can't remember what it was exactly, think nearly 7 kilos. It doesn't mean anything to me as I work in pounds and ounces!

Carolann8584 · 19/07/2017 17:09

So do I

DD is 6.52kg

They say an average weight gain is oz a day so 7oz a week basically half a pound - 2lbs a month

Dd is sticking to that

17lbs at 16w. Gulps

Yes lots of experience tho always easier with someone else's child as don't have the heart strings

Saying that I also know it doesn't hurt dd to moan /cry for 5mins while she settles self to bed

And I'm possibly tougher on her that would be on a clients chikd but I also know what I do as a maternity nanny works

Hence dd sleeps 7-7/730 with df at 11

Will cut that down soon tho not yet - I like my sleep 😂😂

NameChange30 · 19/07/2017 21:41

Blondes
Your DD sleeps from 7pm to 7-7.30am with just one dream feed at 11pm?!
Please give us step by step instructions your tips!

Carolann8584 · 19/07/2017 21:58

Oooo yes please. I try to dream feed but I always feel I need to change her nappy with each feed so it wakes her up

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/07/2017 22:53

@carolann and @namechange yes she does tho tbh only done that last week so from 15w

Before then slept till 5ish and gave 1-2oz a snack then back to bed til 730/8am

Sorry. Hate saying if asked as then get given daggers by other mums 😳😳😉

Basically it's all about routine. I mixed fed for 12w but dd all formula now and easier as know what they have taken and if should be hungry or just trying it on /moaning

Tho have had clients ebf and their babies still did the same - so doesn't matter if ebf mixed expressed formula it can be done

But it's routine - feeding on demand it's much harder

It's all done on a 3hr cycle through out the day

Just about to go and df dd now but will type out tomorrow if you both want it

And nappies - unless pooed I don't change at feeds now. They aren't soggy enough to change and I use 12hr pampers at night. Havnt found an own brand that works for 12hr tho use Lidl daytime. They are fab

If you always change then they get used to a dry nappy and some babies start to wake up as wet and don't like it

Tho if soggy then change at df.

And I don't talk to dd at df. It's done in dim light and fed changed if bed be - buried and back in cot. All done in 5/10mins tho dd is a piglet and downs the df hence why I'm not ready to stop it yet

purpleviolet1 · 20/07/2017 12:09

I agree it seems to be that if you give them enough nutritionally during day then they don't need to wake at night. I picked this up from Gina Ford. I dream feed at 10 now though (was dream feeding at 10.30 before). If he had gone down closer to 7pm he tends to get up between 6-7am. If going down around 8pm it's only slightly later but I'm still experimenting....

Last two nights I dropped the dream feed coz he really wasn't happy at being disturbed. Very grumpy. But i don't think he's ready for that yet as he woke at 6am crying hysterically this morning. He had a full feed , nappy change and at around 7am went back to sleep till 10am. Suited me well but probably overslept!

Tell me about these 12h pampers, I'm using Aldi and it isn't too bad by the morning as I usually change him at dream feed time. He does sometimes wake up fully but we have a little play and as soon as he is put back down he nods off fairly quickly.
