Thanks Blondes, yes I think he does get overtired. I'm not sure he'll be able to self-settle though, he's still young and so far has only gone to sleep after a feed, or being rocked in our arms, or with some kind of movement (pushchair or car). So I thought the bouncer chair might be a good step to get him falling asleep more by himself (with a bit of movement to help) before putting him down in his Sleepyhead or Snuzpod and expecting him to be able to go to sleep by himself. It's only worked once though and I think it might have been a fluke! We shall see.

Teething gel is fab. Dd has regularly bless her. So drilling and dribbling

Yes leave to winge and try and not go in till 5mins if crying unless totally hysterical. Ie let them cry a bit or else they will learn very quickly that I cry and mummy comes in asap

That's what I did to dd from an early age and she 99% self settles very well. Yes she will moan going to sleep but it's a moan and less then 5mins

She knows lullaby goes on. She goes in cot. Grobag at night and then under thin large mussie as kicks legs loads and disturbs herself

People always talk about 4mth sleep regression but rbh I've never encountered it in years of nannying /mn

Let's hope dd doesn't discover it 😂😂

She's 4mths tomorrow

Thanks Hugh, I agree with you and I think it's teething plus the 4 month sleep regression. Killer combo! Confused

I'm not comfortable leaving him to cry, low-level whinging when he's falling asleep is fine, but when it turns into distressed crying I don't want to leave him, I find it too distressing myself. It's bad enough in the car when I can't do anything about it!

I don't mean to criticise anyone else though, it sounds like everyone has methods that work for them, I'm just not quite ready yet.

DS has rejected a dummy each time we've tried it which I think is a shame as that could have helped him to sleep, although i guess there is the issue of having to put it back in when it falls out!

purpleviolet1 · 27/07/2017 21:28

Hope things improve name.

It's taken me an hour to put DS to sleep - after watching him closely I think it's his reflux playing up, he was thrashing about, gulping, crying every time I lay him down. This past week he has been refusing feeds and getting distressed during and I put it down to teething but I don't think it is now... biggest tell tale sign is waking up crying. Omeprazole is weight dependant so he perhaps needs an increase in dose. Will phone doctors tomorrow morning.

Thanks purple.
Sorry your DS was unhappy tonight. Is waking up crying a sign of reflux, then? DS does that sometimes. He vomited a lot more than usual today, as well. We thought it might be because he's been dribbling a lot so we wondered if he was bringing up the extra saliva... who knows?! We are definitely guessing at least half the time Grin

On the up side, DS fell asleep a whole hour earlier than usual tonight, so I'm hopeful that we might be able to achieve an earlier bedtime going forward - fingers crossed!

purpleviolet1 · 27/07/2017 23:18

Yes name it is for us... he is such a happy content baby when not bothered with it bless him. The omeprazole had been working wonders. Hope I get to speak to a decent GP tomorrow.

@hugh. Dentenoix or something like that

I didn't mean to leave your baby to cry and get really upset. Just that a bit of work find /noise is ok but go in and resettle. Obv of hysterical /really distressed go in before gets to that stage

Reflux is horrible. Poor wee sausage. It does go on weight but I also find via top paeds in country that it's worth giving maximum dose at first do aee of gets results. Some will preseibe 20 a day. 10 and and pm. What does d's have ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/07/2017 06:20

@purple. Thrashing and gulping are def signs of reflux or silent reflux and. Or not settling when down

Aww both are gorgeous!!!
DS was started off on 7mg but quickly increased to 10mg which he has been on for weeks. Spoke to GP and she said she is happy to increase to 15mg for now and take it from there. Maximum is 20mg. Poor soul been vomiting aswell even though his is more silent reflux. Hopefully it will kick in quickly..

DDs cot is being delivered tomorrow Grin not sure she will last until 6 months in her Moses but don't want to set up her cot in our room as she will be able to see me so think she will stay awake more "chatting" to me

MotherofA · 29/07/2017 01:54

Thanks so much everyone for well wishes wish the hernia . Hoping the letter comes soon !
Regards the sleep issue. As I said , nights have gone slightly backwards but Day times are just wow ! I have no choice but to let DD cry it out for a bit sometimes because she screams so much and nothing will soothe her ! Usually if I hear her moan I'll run and put the dummy in but often I can't rush straight to her so she has to self soothe but wow can she scream hahahaha .
I would rather do it now than later though as she will be starting day care in Sept Hmm.
Hugh our little one has a jumparoo and was scared at first but really loves it now !
Anyone had their hair done post baby ? X

NameChange30 · 29/07/2017 04:52

Loving the photos, very cute! Smile

Yes I've been to the hairdressers a few times, because I have short hair that grows quickly and looks awful if I don't get it cut - it was even worse when I was pregnant but it's calmed down a bit now. Actually took DS with me once but that was stressful as he got upset halfway through so had to cuddle and feed him. He got bits of hair all over him! I left him with DH the next time and that was much better Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/07/2017 09:38

@Hugh. Thank you. She melts my heart 💓

@purple. Some will give max dose of 20 esp if a bossy maternity nurse goes with them

It gets quicker results and once you see baby stabilised then we reduce to 15 - 12,5 - 10 etc

Rather then small dose and increase iyswim

Hair - yes has mine cut and coloured since dd arrived

Carolann8584 · 29/07/2017 18:37

DD missed her afternoon nap my Step sons are here ( that's a rant for a different time Angry) she's just had her bath and 5 out of a 6oz feed and fallen asleep while burping bless her

MotherofA · 29/07/2017 20:28

Had mine done when she has 8 weeks and I had to take her . It was awful haha also gone off how hairdresser does it so I'm going for a consult at a new place and hoping other half will be able to get time off for me to go !
Been contacting nurseries for DD to start end sept 😢 .
DD has gone down late tonight as we had to get step kids like 3 hours late because their mum missed her buses ... then we went for food .
