And huge respect to EaH, without whose efforts we never would have had a list

(And yes, I am one of those sad people who finds things like temperature sensors in cars really interesting. Nerd.)

PCF
My dh is useless with the feeds/bottles he has yet to sterilise a bottle with either dd's and I have to remind him what time she'll need feeding (and to change her nappy) although I think somethime he 'forgets' on purpose so I will do it. He is such a pushover as well because he will also let the dd's fall asleep downstairs on the sofas watching tv/dvd and then take them to bed because its easier! so I do bedtime 98% of the time as I feel its important they can settle themselves to sleep (far to many memories of horrendous nights with Ellie waking in the night or sittign outside her bedroom door at night because she couldnt fall asleep because she couldnt settle herself)

Dragonhart · 20/03/2007 09:54

Urban, I use washables and the washing is a bit of a hassle but not worse than an extra wash load. I keep mine in a big bin in the bathroom and do it first thing in the morning. Used to do it every other day when just doing Luke's but now do it every day as if I leave it with both days nappies it is stinky!!

When I go out I just have a waterproof drawstring bag that I dump the dirties in. If there is no toilet then I put poos in a nappysack then in the bag but I dont with Ruth's so you wont have to wrooy about that til lo is on solids.

Everone pics are gorgeous! Just been lookng. My pics of me after birth both times are minging too. Didnt learn though and second time let everone take pics of me with no makeup on.

wilkie · 20/03/2007 09:56

Oh PCF, I was going to give one of my easter eggs to EAH but she is being nasty insinuating I bought them to eat myself so you can have one - you sound like you need it! Terrys Choc Orange or Cadbury Flake?

Men are crap sometimes arent they. They have no idea.

Mothers Day - get back from being at my mums all day to find no bottles done, washing up not done, washing still in machines waiting to be put out, nursery a tip, nappy bin still full.....and DH sat on his arse watching golf

EAH - of course they aren't both for me! Are you suggesting I like chocolate and am a bit of a fat bastard

Dragonhart · 20/03/2007 09:56

Since I started writting there have been 8 posts! Have to go now to go out but will catch up later. DH nagging to go out as he has the day off.

theUrbanDryad · 20/03/2007 10:08

oh my god you lot do all rattle on! i've just been on the phone to my best friend and SHE IS PREGNANT!!! i knew they were trying so i've given her all my leftover folic acid and now i have to dig out my pregnancy books (like i haven't put them in a pile since the moment she told me her and her dp were trying!!) it's still very very early days yet, we think no more than 4 weeks maximum, so i'm not telling anyone else in rl (not even dh!!)

so - here's a question. what did you find invaluable in the first few weeks of pregnancy? i'm off to read our early antenatal threads!

lalala.....

LadyTophamHatt · 20/03/2007 10:09

Sodding ell' you lot don't half talk!!

UD, "ok - but how do you get them to hold their head still long enough so you can get the tissue up their clogged up nostrils??! "

What you mean you haven't bought a baby head vice yet??

I hold him with his head i the crook of my arm and dig the bogers out that way, but one handed bogey extraction is a fine art so sometimes whne he's on the changing mat I'll hold his head with one hand and retrieve the bogeys with the other hand.

But basically....you just have to fight them which ever way you do it

You all seem to be emialing each other back and forth alot....How terribly cliquey!!

I can't keep up with this either! Morning to you too, EAH, sounds like you had a fab night's sleep

Annie- I got my sheepskin from 'spirit of nature', they're online, 42 pounds I think. Lo loves it.

Urban, thanks for cluster feeding adice, must try it, and where on earth do you live? I can't believe you get such abuse about a sling, especially from old ladies . I used to get called such things on the horrible estate i lived on as a teenager, 'hippee jippee fuckin garrrthic' (norfolk accent), but then I was wearing black leggings and monkey boots, very avant-garde at the time . 'Av yor troosers shrunk then?' was a typical comment.

Mooncups. I think I was put off those by someone I know who used to save it to 'water' her plants. Honestly. I did buy nature sea pearls sponge tampons by mistake the other day though. thought it was just a natural sponge for LO. I took it back, pharmacy thought mistake was hilarious, I live in there at the moment. Let us know how you get on with them.

at all your sleeping babies. Think I'm getting a bit emoticion happy here too! I've only just realised all your profiles/photos were clicking your names, not sure where I thought they were! I agree, no one looks like how I thought they would, must try to organise a profile, I'm not very good at photo uploading etc.

theUrbanDryad · 20/03/2007 10:19

LTH - surely you realise that by being on this thread you are in the BEST clique on MN anyway? thanks for the bogey advice, i will let you know how i get on....

i live in Northampton by the way, which has been described as "the murder Mecca of the Midlands" and is basically a large town with a small town mentality. we're looking to move before LO starts school....

carrotcake · 20/03/2007 10:21

Might have to change my name to beetrootcake. Have just been given some by baking a friend, it's just like carrotcake but pink, with pink icing! Don't knock it till you've tried it.

carrotcake · 20/03/2007 10:23

a baking friend even, not by 'baking a friend' . ''murder mecca of the midlands'', UD, that would be funny if it didn't sound scary! Move quickly.

Lizzzombie · 20/03/2007 10:43

Mooncups! You must be joking. It would be a case of "my mooncup overfloweth" at the moment sorry - tmi, but lets just say I am glad I didnt chuck out my spare maternity towels at the moment...flipping heck, I feel like a 12 year old again. One of my mates brought a mooncup in the wrong size, so beware! Hers got stuck up there as it was too big! LOL!
Also, imagine being in a public loo, and having to pop out to the basin to wash it out. Mmm, nice.
I'm still using breast pads. I hate them, but I went boob commando on saturday to meet some mates for lunch, and half way through, I got that leaking feeling and had to excuse myself. Cue big wet patches on boobs. V.embarrassing. Luckily I was wearing black! shame though!
UD - for a suitable response to old bints being rude, I always find "f*ck off and die" a good one.
Hmm, can anyone tell this is my 1st period in nearly a year!

LadyTophamHatt · 20/03/2007 10:48

OMG....I've just noticed george has got some teeth.....9 weeks old and he;s got teeth....
I'm bloody glad I'm not breastfeeding

LadyTophamHatt · 20/03/2007 10:50

I've managed to get a photo with his mouth open....can you see them?

I'm not imagining it am I??

LTH, that is hilarious, I was actually just going to google whetheryou could get teeth at that age!! Glad I can look at all the pictures now

carrotcake · 20/03/2007 11:12

It is seriously hailing outside here, poor ds1 has gone on a wildlife trip today, and we forgot his hat and scarf. Bad mother. And I'm not making bloody cakes for the easter fair, dd asked what buns we were making as 'Mrs palmer says we HAVE to in assembly'. Might stretch to buying some hot cross buns, on offer in Somerfields.

Muckypup · 20/03/2007 11:23

LTH - What gorgeous photos!

Morning all. I haven't had a chance to get on the computer for days.

Hope you all enjoyed mothers day. DH set his alarm clock to get up and go and get me a card on Sunday but promptly rolled over and went back to sleep so no card but he did make up for it with some chocolates later. We had a nice day as we went to visit the grandparents.

Last night I tried to give DS a dreamfeed for the first time. I couldn't do it as it was too wierd. I couldn't wake him up and so he was comatose - his eyes were rolling around and he was all floppy so I'm not going to try that again. I know lots of people do it but it's freaky.

Oh well it looks like I'm going to have to continue to get up twice in the night for quite some time!

wilkie · 20/03/2007 11:26

LTH - we thought you were missing in action Love the photo - PMSL. I was about to type a post saying 'WOW! LTH what an advanced baby...' then looked at the pic

Just been out to get my hungry baby Aptamil - fingers crossed for tonight.

Have also [wilkie polishes halo] just popped in to see the elderly neighbours with J. Guess what they suggested when he started crying....cooled boiled water - UD, it's not a MIL thing.

Lizz - LOL at your post. Do we have PMT perchance?? Mooncup - agree about the public loo thing. What do you do? [Wilkie has vision of UD scuttling out cubicle with her pants round her ankles clutching her overflowing mooncup, rinsing it out under the tap and then scuttling back to insert it back up there whilst the queue of people look on in bemusement. PMSL]

LadyTophamHatt · 20/03/2007 11:32

The older ds's were rolling around the floor laughing when I first used that dummy.

It's hilarous isn't it...

I think I might start a thread to show a wider audience

(BTW, if anyone wants to add my MSN it's pemblemac at blah blah blah ...you know the rest)

ellieandhattie · 20/03/2007 12:01

LTH - glad to see you back

We have just been to Morrisons to get a few bits why does it take me an hour and 20 minutes to get them ready (wee for ellie, shoes and coats etc) get them in the car, do the shopping (only took 15 mins) and do it all in reverse and why oh why when I have asked ellie a million times and tried her on the loo before we leave does she announce as we walk into somewhere "I need a wee/poo" at a hndred decibel volume?

My mum got some super smiley pics yesterday on they're digital camera but I have popped in tere to pick the software for the camera up so I could load it on here and download the pics (they havent got a computer and don't understand t'internet) I asked where the cd was "what cd" the one I need to download the programme "oh your dad thought that was a dvd of how to use the camera so he's thrown it away" duh how stupid can they be (I am sure in 20 something years time ellie and hattie will be posting a similar tale about me)

ellieandhattie · 20/03/2007 12:02

sorry terrible spelling and grammar there, trying to blow some balloons up for ellie to play with!
