good morning!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
NatalieJane · 07/03/2007 11:46

DH said he is probably right handed, but DS1 used to use his left for everything, but did show he could use his right, and he is right handed. I'm not worried as such, just aware of it, and trying to coax it a bit!!

Have you tried spoonfeeding milk to Keiran? I know it would take forever, and probably wouldn't be easy while you are trying to balance DD aswell, but it might give him the taste for it? Or even use one of the Avent magic cups?

amyjade · 07/03/2007 11:55

Is anyone waiting to wean their babies at 6 months?
I weaned both Dd's at 4 months and both were fine. The recommendation now is 6 months so i don't know whether to wait or just do the same as with my Dd's?
My HV said as long as Fraser is older than 17 weeks then i can start weaning.
Not sure what to do?

staceym11 · 07/03/2007 11:55

il have to have a fiddle and try, hes jsut a pain, some weeks he will be fine and then all hell breaks loose again, dont like feeding him in public coz it sounds like im killing the child!!!

staceym11 · 07/03/2007 11:57

amyjade my dd was weaned at 3 months, ds has had some food (first baby rice at 6 weeks as he was trying to take too much milk and throwing it all back up again) and it hasnt had any adverse effects on either of them, am now weaning keiran properly coz of the feeding problems with milk!

amyjade · 07/03/2007 11:57

Sorry probably a dangerous question to ask on MN.

NatalieJane · 07/03/2007 12:08

Stacey, I'd give the magic cup a go first, or even just a normal cup, if not then try spoonfeeding it to him if I were you, see how it goes.

Amy, DS1 was weaned at 4 months (as per the guidelines at the time) and George is having one lot of baby rice a day and has been from about 8 weeks, I didn't like doing it, but I think you have to look at it the same as everything else, you know your baby best and you do what's right for him, not what is right for the "average" baby (who has an average baby????!) If Fraiser is looking hungry, try it, if he isn't ready for it, he will let you know. (Yes I am going to run and hide before I have the food squad on my case!!)

staceym11 · 07/03/2007 12:10

oh NJ your from the same school as me you know your child best not some know it all who doesn't know the child from adam!

will try cup feeding him later and see how it goes!

NatalieJane · 07/03/2007 12:24

Good luck Stacey

Hi everyone Well Fryea had her last lot of jabs yesterday - she was really good and was laughing again withing seconds on the needles going in. AJ - at the risk of being lynched as well - I would go with what your ds needs, I weaned ds at 4 months as we weret old to at the time and he was ready ... I have been saying that Freya isn't ready for weaning yet but she is showing more interest in our food over the last couple of days and for the last 2 nights she has been up at 5:30am/ish, when she previously slept until 8:30-9:00! .... saying that though, she isn't screaming for food when she wakes up Maybe I will up her feeds to 8oz first and see if that helps - it's so hard to know what to do NJ - I am with you at the mo, ds is not a well bunny at all, he keeps taking himself off to bed and has a streaming cold, dh and I don't feel too well either It's a bit miserable in this house right now, dh had taken a week off so that we could all go swimming and to the farm etc, but we have just been sitting around really Never mind I am sure it will pass

staceym11 · 07/03/2007 14:46

right now having a real panic about ds not eating her was due at 1 but we were out and he was in buggy so didnt get fed till we got home, screamed for 5mins while i settled dd down etc once we were in then gulped 5ozs down! i couldnt believe it! he jsut wants to prove me a liar!

NatalieJane · 07/03/2007 16:22

Mygirl, I think he is just coming out of the otherside of this growth spurt, he was still awake more than usual last night but no where near as bad as the previous 3 nights.

Mum2T&F It is bloody hard when you are ill as well This time next week everyone should be well mended and life will resume... till the next time!!

I think I am going to get DS1 some vits, just a basic A-Z, see if that will perk him up enough to ward at least the next bug off!

DH rang me earlier, I forgot to tell you all, y'know we changed the car a few weeks ago? Well, he hates it, to the point where we are in the middle of changing it again, this time a Vauxhall Vectra, anyway he is picking it up this weekend, and he rang to ask if there was anywhere we could take the boys for an outing, so I said jokingly "yep, the trafford centre" so he said OK he will drop me at the trafford centre and then take Thomas and George to see the planes at the airport, so I said you do realise I haven't hardly been clothes shopping since I had George so it will cost you, and he said yep, go and treat yourself, so I am off for a lovely day shopping on Sunday Made me feel better already!!! Can't wait

NatalieJane · 07/03/2007 16:23

Oops forgot to say (the thought of shopping gets in the way of everything else!!)

Stacey, you will have to starve him before every meal!!! I am glad he has taken some for you

staceym11 · 07/03/2007 16:53

NJ i was thinking that myself, silly little boy!

please can i come with you on shopping spree (at your dh's expense) i would love some new clothes but we jsut dont have the money!

podglet · 07/03/2007 17:13

Amy, I am going to try and hold out on the weaning for as long as poss. DS is 18 weeks today and he seems just fine on exclusive bf. However, we know our own babies best and at the risk of being lynched with everybody else, if he seems ready, then go with it...

Bibbles - I think I know who you are! Is your new name similar to one you had whilst you were pg? am trying not to out you

podglet · 07/03/2007 17:15

Meant to say - NJ, how lovely, a shopping trip with no DC's! Am going shopping for a new pair of jeans on friday (have not had a new pair for over 3 years) but ds will be with me

BlimeyoReilly · 07/03/2007 19:37

Hi All

Amy we have started giving Paige baby rice this week (shes 16 weeks) as she is refusing bottles, its the only way to get her to take enough through out the day. Must say though i think she thinks its more a game than eating!

I think you know when its time and you should go with your instinct.

schmizaj · 07/03/2007 21:13

Hey hey. Think it may be one of those strange evolutionary things that when babies are being really difficult they also start doing cute things like rasberries and cheeky smiles so you can't get too upset with them.

Having problems with the DD's wind. She farts for Britain and real stinkers too. It is funny until she keeps waking up through the night with it. I'm sure it isn't right but HV etc not interested. Have tried to cut out the formula feeds as think B/f better for digestion and trying not to eat acidic or 'windy' foods. Any thoughts you wise ones?

She isn't putting on weight either and will fall off the graph soon. Not that bothered as she will feed regularly and is bright as a button. But am keeping a feeding diary and will see the doc if she goes to the bottom percentile as HV just keeps telling me to feed on demand and have a rest in the afternoon which although sensible does not cure all ills.

I'm knackered, doesn't seem to be getting easier. Thought we would have two close together but really don't think I'd cope, don't know how ya'll do it!

Charleesunnysunsun · 08/03/2007 07:08

Morning, i haven't been about for a few days i have been so bust attending meetings about Jack and his CF so i thought i would post to say hi!

Harry is fine, we tried him on baby rice as he seems so keen to eat but it seemsd to give him bellyache so he's back on boob's alone! He is a monster baby now he only weighs 13lb but he looks huge where he is quite long.
He is sleeping well i really think his massage before bed helps him.
He has a cold at the moment and i have lost the baby olbas oil so i'm going out to get some more so he can breath through his nose properly.

Jack is also doing ok, now he's on his medication he has suddenly found all his energy he has been lacking for so long so he's a crazy thing at the moment!

Were all fine just plodding along as we do!

Bibbles i know who you are

staceym11 · 08/03/2007 07:34

how come i dont know who bibbles is????

Morning all

I know I am very lucky, my DH bless him, so thoughtfull and kind.... we went to Tesco last night and as we walked past the clothes I picked up (what I thought was a) lovely green dress, not normally my kind of thing but I am so fed up of jeans and tops that I am trying to broaden my horizons, and drag myself back to being 23 and not 63, so anyway I picked this dress up, held it against me so he could see it and I got "Are you going to be doing the gardening in that?" GRRRRRRRR! So when I huffed and put it back on the shelf he came out with "No it's nice really, it just isn't what I'd expect you to buy, you should wear more clothes like that" my reply "What so I can do the gardening?" Dress back on the hanger, me pissed off, him feeling like he put his foot in it, oh well, he isn't coming in the trafford centre with me so he can't put me off then, I am determined not to buy a pair of jeans.

I think it is hard when you are a SAHM, there doesn't seem much point in buying "nice" clothes because you spend all day around the house and being sicked/weed on, but I am fed up of boring sensible clothes, I want leather and PVC, fishnets and 7 inch heels, OK so I was joking about that, but something with an inkling of fashion about it would be good!! And I am going to buy at least one thing that I wouldn't normally buy because it won't go in the tumble dryer!!! Woah, my DH had better watch out!!! Gardening clothes indeed.....

NatalieJane · 08/03/2007 10:17

Sorry, now I have had my rant on with much more important things....

Charlee, I am so glad your DS is turning the corner. It must be a relief for you to see him like it again.

Stacey how did the feeding go last night?

DS1 has made a miraculous recovery, the main thing he's battling now is getting his energy back, his paddy yesterday morning had him zonked out for hours, and the walk around Tesco last night did the same, he is still coughing, and I have started him on an A-Z so hopefully if he gets enough rest and some more proper food down him today he will be well enough to go to school tomorrow

I think I know who Bibbles is, but I can't think of a way to make sure without outing her....

staceym11 · 08/03/2007 10:18

well feeding went fine last night.........this morning however is a different story arrrrrgggghhhh
