So is charlee staying in hospital with her ds?

Debbsyandson · 18/04/2007 09:49

what about this

Debbsyandson · 18/04/2007 09:52

what about this

saralou100 · 18/04/2007 10:08

they look cool, i'd like playing with them!

but then theirs the question of space in their room... tbh, i can't stand balloons at work they get in the bloody way.. but then again i do work on an adult ward! charlee and harry are staying too i believe, with her mum coming every few days to relieve her for an afternoon!

what does everyone else think... come on, stop playing with your babies or feeding them, or whatever it is your doing and give an opinion!

OMG, I manage to stay away for a day and look what happens!!

Thinking back to when DS1 was that age, I'd say crayons and a colouring book would go down a storm, not sure if he would be able to though if he has lines in and things. He is a bit young for games, noisy things are probably not a good idea if any of the other children are too poorly to play, it would be horrible to listen to someone else playing all day, how about one of those jigsaw type train tracks, I forget what they are called, it is literally pieces of jigsaw that makes a track for the train/car to follow, DS1 used to spend hours sending the train around and around.

DH is home tonight, I can't wait to see him, never thought I'd miss him as much as I have, and not just to cook dinner, and get rid of the spiders for me either!! LOL

George is much better, I managed to keep him temp down, it peaked at 38.6 at one point, but thankfully I got it back down in time to avoid a fit. DS1 is over the moon that DH will be back today, even though he won't be back till late and DS1 will be in bed, I have had to promise DS1 that I will send DH up to see him, as if I could stop him anyway!!

I will keep thinking on the Charlee front...

staceym11 · 18/04/2007 11:11

how about a toy jack could play with while in there and keep afterwards, an elc something or puzzles or something, if hes anything like my dd (same age but not sure what hes in to) he'd get bored by a baloon quickly.

maybe some puzzles they could do together would be good.

hmmmmmmm.......

well the doc said ds could have reflux, apparantly it should be getting better as he starts sitting up and having solids. they kept asking what solids he was on, which he isnt really only gets the odd bit when he seems interested....but hes only 23 weeks, so surely they shouldnt be encouraging solids? i dont know, all very odd!

saralou100 · 18/04/2007 11:35

ok, how about this... we set him a load of challenges... you know like on a hen night, when you get the bride to be to get hold of stuff... only of course the child friendly version... make a bit of an adventure for him

eg... find 6 teddy bears to have a picnic with? or make a pirate hat out of newspaper and talk with a pirate accent? do you see where i'm going with this?? or is it a naff idea?

nat, sooooo glad george is better! what was for dinner last night??? lol

stacey, i think that the medical profession are pants at sticking to the advice on this one... see all the recent arguments on here about weaning... yet their supposed to practice based on most recent research.. no wonder people get confused when their being told by so called professionals that they should wait, but it doesn't really mater if you don't!

Shush don't mention dinner... (we got a take out !!!) I don't know what he is going to end up with tonight, bad bad bad mother....

Anyway, these are all great ideas girls for Jack, I am trying to think as well, but I have a gotten my teeth into something and I can't stop for long enough to think clearly!

podglet · 18/04/2007 14:12

I quite like Saralou's idea - we could each come up with a challenge for him, then one of us could post it to him. Need to move quickly though, he is in for 2 weeks from today...

Perhaps we could also send something for Harry as he will be there with Charlee? Like a little rattle or soft toy to amuse him?

staceym11 · 18/04/2007 16:01

sara i like the idea, but he's 2 1/2 so they would have to be quite simple, pirate i dont think would work, i know it wouldnt with dd.

hmmmmmmmmmmm..........

i think the teddy bears one is great sara,
how about..........see how long it takes to colour in 10 pictures.........perhaps not, i dont know im crap at this!!!

saralou100 · 18/04/2007 17:24

perfect, so everyone get your thinking hats on and come up with some challenges for him... hopefully charlee will have some fun too.. i don't mind typing them up and sending them on! so monday deadline people!!

i know a few people are sending jack stuff, i've passed her details on to a few people!

thinking

Bethbe · 18/04/2007 17:35

: Find out the names of three nurses!
: Look for something yellow and draw it!
: Try to balance your pillow on its end!
: See how long you can hold your breath!
: Find three blue things!

And

: See how high you bed goes

saralou100 · 18/04/2007 17:43

pmsl, bethbe, i've done the last one....

very good though!!

OP posts:
staceym11 · 18/04/2007 18:32

thats a great list bethbe

how about talk to mummy for 30 seconds about your smelly socks

make up a story about something in your room (teddy, balloon etc)

Put a sick bowl on your head (empty of course) and fly to the moon (pretending of course)

hmmmmmmmmmm............sara could you email me at: [email protected] with charlees addy i cant find it anywhere and want to order a toy for jack and harry!

i think it would also be nice if our MN names were in brackets beside our contributions so charlee knows how daft we all are! lol

staceym11 · 18/04/2007 18:33

see how many toys you can balance on harry's tummy before he knocks them all off!

saralou100 · 18/04/2007 18:38

it's sent stacey!

i think i've typed it tht many times i know it off by heart....

OP posts:
Debbsyandson · 18/04/2007 19:29

oh have i missed it

staceym11 · 18/04/2007 19:33

no debs, she hasnt sent it she sent me charlees addy! dont worry, we'r not going ahead without you!

Debbsyandson · 18/04/2007 19:38

right thanks stace still thinking
charlees dp has just posted that ds is going to london tomorrow for a broncoscopy gos she must be so worried.
ds on a major growth spurt not had anytime all day dh just taken him out in his pram and i have a large glass of wine infront of me.

staceym11 · 18/04/2007 19:56

oh am really thinking of charlee atm, poor girl has had a run of it!

debs, good on your dp for taking ds out (how much did you have to hint/nag )

well ds now has gaviscon stuff and is feeding so much better already, he has fed every 3 hrs and taken 6-7 oz each time!!! he has been sick but it is nothing compared to before so im pleased! will be asking for something someone mentioned called enfamil which is a formula that does the same thing as gaviscon but without the extra sodium in it! got to go back in 2 days anyway as she gave me 30 sachets, he has to have 2 each feed so that only gives me 2 days worth! do docs ever think??

Debbsyandson · 18/04/2007 20:04

ahh Stace so glad ds is feeding better, must be a huge weight off your mind hunny, hopefully he will really start to settle for you now ((hugs))
lol no didnt have to nag really he saw my bloodshot eyes!!

podglet · 18/04/2007 20:24

Aaargh, am so rubbish at this - think think think (winnie the Pooh style tapping of head.

Fab list Bethbe - you must know a lot of 2 1/2 year olds!

How about getting Mummy to help make a chart with the days on that he has to be in hospital, then put a challenge in for each day - a challenge calendar? Tehn he can tick them off as he does them and look forward to the next one... Good idea to have our names by each challenge, should make Charlee laugh!

Debs - sounds like DP has pulled his socks up a bit - good for you - hope you enjoy the wine! DP has started coming home in time for bath time and is in charge of that which is lovely, means he gets some lovely Daddy time with DS

podglet · 18/04/2007 20:26

Sorry, meant to add, Stacey, so pleased the Gaviscon has worked for you. If it is reflux, then he might need the Enfamil and the Gaviscon - has the GP referred you to a paed for a consultation?

staceym11 · 18/04/2007 20:33

no no referal, she kept going on about solids and sitting up and it getting better, but its been getting worse!
