Hiya all!

Still around, - as you've seen. Sorry not posted much but having a LO is the hardest and busiest and most tiring job I've ever had!

Thinking about weaning now at 21 weeks so posted a question in the weaning topic area. Expecting to get jumped on, - but we'll see!

Hope you gals and bibs are all well!

Bethbe

Debbsyandson · 18/04/2007 21:07

hi Bethbve was wondering where you were a few says ago.Well im of to bed catch up tomorrow nanite xx

saralou100 · 18/04/2007 21:59

hiya bethbe, long time no see (so to speak!)
i think this article here is well worded and is enough to convince me ( i've read lots of articles, just think this one is well phrased)... although i do subscribe to the blw theory!

actually i was googling it for you stacey, with regards to the reflux and solids... they all pretty much say that it may help some (the theory being that it weighs the milk down) and to others doesn't make a difference or even makes it worse (some food groups causing wind, acid in the stomach).

you can all tell me to butt out though

i'm merely (sp??) exercising my brain before i go back to work... should be googling that really

OP posts:
saralou100 · 18/04/2007 22:01

that should say it cnvinces me not to start till after 26 weeks!! duh... obviously brain cannot take the exercise!!

OP posts:
Bethbe · 18/04/2007 22:16

That's great! Thanks Saralou!

saralou100 · 18/04/2007 22:56

i've emailed charlee's mum.. see what she thinks and see what jack is into!

aaah, i bet nat's off smooching her dh right now (and i'm not being pervy )

g'night all, i am finally going off to bed...

God that list of chalenges was great - well done Poor Jack and Charlee, what is a broncoscopy? I am still trying to think, but TBH it is a long time since DS1 was that age and I have forgotten, all he ever did was colour, paint, and do play-doh sausages.

DH got back about 9 o'clock-ish, he is all brown and yummy (Sara, you perve!!! )

I rang the doctors for my blood test results and the receptionist said she was just about to ring me to ask me to go down to the surgery today because they have found something, I can't go today so have made an apppointment for tomorrow (which she gave me without an argument for the first time ever) so I am getting a bit worried now

NatalieJane · 19/04/2007 09:53

Ooops also meant to say to Stacey that I am glad that DS seems better, fingers crossed he will keep improving for you, I am sure it will be a weight off your mind.

saralou100 · 19/04/2007 09:58

nat, a bronchoscopy is a big tube with a camera on the end which is inserted up the nose and passed down into the lungs, so they can have a good nosey around! as he's so wee it'll be done under a general anaesthetic... won't cause any pain, but not nice!!

and i wasn't being pervy!! i just remember when dp went away i couldn't wait for a cuddle more than anything!!!

i've lost my voice today!!! dp was taking the piss and advantage of my inability to shout!!!

NatalieJane · 19/04/2007 10:03

Aww that poor little man, at least as you say he won't be awake I expect it will bother Charlee more, the poor love.

saralou100 · 19/04/2007 13:54

nat go along that theme then, challenge him to maki something out of playdough. remember he is gonna have boring parts of the day where he's stuck hooked up to a rip, so sitting down activities are good

so far we have...

find 6 teddybears and invite them to a picnic

find out the names of 3 nurses

look for something yelow and draw it

see how long you can balance a pillow on one end

find 3 blue things

put a sick bowl on your head and pretend your a spaceman

see how many toys you can balance on harry's tummy before he knocks them off (i love this one)

build a cuddly toy zoo

find 5 things that roll and 5 things that don't ( i stole that one)

make a picture story about your day involving 3 things in your room! (mummy can help with this one)

how long can you stay quiet for!

i was also gonna do one for charlee, i just bought a nice smelly face mask... her challenge - to sit in the bath, relax and enjoy!!

OP posts:
podglet · 19/04/2007 15:52

Aw, that's lovely - shall I think of something else then or will you use my idea of his first challenge being to build his "challenge calendar"? Can think of something else if you like?

saralou100 · 19/04/2007 16:33

oh no i just forgot that one off the list!!!

i'll add it on!!! i'll make it his first challenge!!

OP posts:
Debbsyandson · 19/04/2007 16:35

ok will keep thinking of more challenges but for now iv managed to get hold of some (9 in fact) lovely story books for Jack and a little rattle for Harry, which i've packaged up and will be sending first thing tomo for them, have also put a letter in for her to read!

i was thinking, and this may be way out on what other people were thinking, but does anyone think we could all put a little bit of money in and buy them a holiday voucher for when Jack gets better so they can have a nice break somewhere? Just thinking as im sure they havn't been on holiday for ages.........what does anyone else think.........we could start a new thread and explain the situation asking anyone who can and is willing to contribute.......what ya all think?

NatalieJane · 19/04/2007 17:17

I still can't think of anything else, you lot are much to clever!!

I will keep thinking but probably won't be back on till tomorrow afternoon, if the list is finished by then just send it, because I am not likely to come up with anything worth while!

Stacey, if you come up with any ideas of what to buy for them, let me know and we'll go halves if you want? Or if it is a set of something we'll buy two of them (like brio or lego IYKWIM?)

I am off to play the Wii and try to get moving to spain out of my head before DH comes home!! Catch you all later xxx

NatalieJane · 19/04/2007 17:18

Sorry X posted, Stacey if we can get enough people to contribute I'd happily do that

saralou100 · 19/04/2007 17:20

thats a nice idea... start it up and see what response you get... i know quite a few people have gotten behind charlee on this

i've started up another thread and it's p'ing me off

count to 10.... deep breaths saralou

OP posts:
staceym11 · 19/04/2007 17:32

have started the thread here if you could all help keep it bumped i'd appriciate it!

Debbsyandson · 19/04/2007 22:15

I will with pleasure

saralou100 · 20/04/2007 10:28

i've had an email from charlee's mum.. apparently jacks doing well, smiling at everyone and enjoying himself, not really understanding whats going on

charlee's puttng on a brave face though for the world, but her mum said it's hit her how poorly he will be, so she really needs our support!!

i'm gonna see if i can get his challenges written up and posted today or tomorrow, i think we have plenty now!! fostermum thinks he and charlee will enjoy doing them

and apparently he's really into postman pat at the moment!!

if any body else wants her address to send her something email me on my mn name @hotmail.com

i really feel for them all

OP posts:
saralou100 · 20/04/2007 11:09

right, onto ryan then

he's sleeping on his front... not cause i want him to, he keeps rolling over!!!!

do i leave him their???? i've been turning him back, but it disturbs him... he's not a deep sleeper (unlike ds1, who could have a marching band parading through and he'd carry on sleeping!!)

if he was a bit older i'd be happier

what do you all do??????

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 20/04/2007 14:06

Poor family, all of them

Sara I think they say once they are strong enough to roll onto their front they are fine to sleep where they want, George only wakes up because he traps his arms underneath his body so I do move him back to his side more often than not, but more out of habit than anything else.

podglet · 20/04/2007 14:24

Hi all,

Saralou - DS rolls onto his tummy to sleep. I leave him, coz I found, like you, if I move him, he wakes up! He's been sleeping like this for about 2 months now naughty of me to let him but he really seems more comfortable like that - DP also sleeps on his tummy the majority of the time, so i figure it's in the genes!

Stacey - will have a look at your thread, will def contribute if I can.

Well, DS was left at creche for 2 hours today and was apparently an angel [proud mummy emoticon] he took the oppourtunity whilst I wasn't around to have a sleep on the lady who runs creche, funny boy!
