Arg!
I am sitting here with Martin Clunes written and then could not think on the first guy so I refreshed and Coriander had said it!!

Was gonna say Hugh Laurie too but can't think which sketch show?
DH is wracking his brain as I type!!!

Myrtle1 · 23/04/2007 08:25

Yes, you're right about Martin Clunes! He was filming Doc Martin when we were in Port Isaac. The crew were there every day and they even used the outside of our holiday cottage as the Crab & Lobster pub!
The other guy plays the PM in the british comedy sketch show.

We're off to the doctors shortly, Ned has a nasty hacking cough. He was coughing so much last night he couldn't get off to sleep poor thing.

mabel1973 · 23/04/2007 09:04

anthony head???? in little britain
i saw martin clunes in padstow a couple of years ago filming doc martin.

ds1 is on my knee and is looking at the smileys and says they are tombly boo's (i assume you all watch in the night garden???!!! )

cori your dd sounds exactly like my ds1 at the moment, everything is a drama i feel like i should get a job with the united nations with my impressive negotiation skills!

mabel1973 · 23/04/2007 09:07

oh and notts would be great for a meet up...i wouldn't have to go far

Myrtle1 · 23/04/2007 09:50

Yes! It was Anthony Head. He was in the pub ordering chips.

Just been to Dr and she has put Ned on antibiotics because he has a few rattles in his chest

Coriander73 · 23/04/2007 11:12

I don't get Little Britain!! Probably the only person in the entire country who doesn't...

Mabel, I heard them talking about "in the night garden" on Radio 5 Live the other day but have yet to see it. What time is it on & is it really that good?

mabel1973 · 23/04/2007 12:04

cori - you don't get little britain???!!!

in the night garden is on at about 6.30 i think, on beebies. it is just very sweet... a bit teletubby-ish, ds1 has only watched it 4 or 5 times and he knows all the chracter names...scarey!

compo · 23/04/2007 12:24

Nottingham would work for me as that's where I come from and parents still live there. Would depend when and where though
Ooh, Anthony Head eh? Loved him in Buffy, big fan of his ever since. Think some of LB is funny, but not all of it.
Dd's first tooth is coming through - no wonder she's a right miserable b**r at the moment!

mabel1973 · 23/04/2007 13:14

compo - wherabouts in notts do you come from?
agree withe little britain thing. The old woman peeing on the floor and the WI woman being sick is a bit too much for me!

Coriander73 · 23/04/2007 13:56

In as much as I just don't find it funny! I think it's quite offensive tbh...the women being sick?! What's all that about??!!!! I do try to give it a go every time it's on -because it's so popular & winning awards left right & centre but I just can't see it... I do love Extras though, the Office is fab & Green Wing just makes me cry with laughter every time.......& (this may be a little sad!) My family!!!!! I know I know....

Well, it would seem Notts / Staffs area is looking good? Come on clairemow, it's only 3.5-4 hours from Brisssssooolllll!!!!!

Sitting at work, wishing for them to put me on gardening leave & wondering what the future holds....I haven't done a CV in 8 years!!! I just don't know where to start....

Myrtle1 · 23/04/2007 17:06

I love Green Wing too, especially the employee relations woman I know what you mean about LB, I find some of it funny but quite a lot of it doesn't really make me laugh.

DS had his 7 month assessment today. He was measured and weighed and sat up and had his testicles checked! I wasn't sure what she was looking for but she said everything was normal.

It would be great to meet and find out what everyone's real name is and why they have the nicknames on MN that they have.

compo · 23/04/2007 17:35

I don't like the big black women bit (is that the same show?!!).
Mabel - the West Bridgord/Radcliffe/Bingham side. Do you live there now?

compo · 23/04/2007 17:35

ps. we have our first tooth coming through, no wonder she is Mrs Cranky Pants!

tassis · 23/04/2007 17:40

LC - so sorry about your Grandpa

Cori - best of luck for the future...what are your plans?

There's no way I'll make it from Central Scotland for a meet up, but I think it's great that you're going to go for it!

How're the little ones?

Dd was grotty last week but on great form since Saturday. Ds was 4 last week and had a fab pirate party at the weekend. They grow up so fast!!

mabel1973 · 23/04/2007 19:14

cori - i quite agree some of it is in very poor taste!

anyone else had a 7 month check? Myrtle - did they call you in for the check?

Compo - i now live in ravenshead, north notts

Coriander73 · 23/04/2007 19:31

J has check up May 21st! Has second tooth popping through also so I am with you on the crankiness of it all compo!

Ohhhhaaa....a meet up is edging ever closer (scary but exciting??!)

compo · 23/04/2007 19:33

ooh never heard of Ravenshead.... also never heard of 7 month check... think ds hd one at 9 months but it was probably late like they always are. Are they the ones where they ring a bell and lo's have to look round to see where the noise comes from?

Ivor · 23/04/2007 19:41

Ohh, I'm so glad it's not just us with the Little Britain thing. DH and I moved away about 4 years ago so we missed the start of it and due to much nagging from a friend of mine I rented the first series, (that was DH and me sitting on the sofa watching it. Thought the teeneage who says " yes, but no" was funny, reminded me of a girl I went to school with!

Still feel a little strange posting on here as the vast majority of you obviously know each other from ohh just over 8 months at least! Feel like I'm gate crashing a bit!

DS has his first two teeth through now so he is a lot less cranky but now really enjoys biting! They are sooo sharp!
He also started saying MumMumMumMum at the weekend, much to the disgust of DH

compo · 23/04/2007 19:42

Hi Ivor. Just quickly wanted to say that I noticed on the July thread 2 people are now pregnant - can't wait to see who will be the first on our thread

Ivor · 23/04/2007 19:44

I sort of thought about it but then managed to talk myself out of it

tassis · 23/04/2007 19:53

Never heard of a 7 month check either...ds had an 8 month assessment, but I don't think they do that here...

I don't get LB either, but then I watch very little TV at all.

Dd finally sitting up (did I say that?) and I ditched the carrycot top and generally put her in pushchair rear facing and she is so much more content. Which is great as I was using the sling a lot because she was so grumpy at ds' nursery drop off and pick up times and it was getting SO heavy. Now she likes to sit right forward (the straps sort of unhook at the back). So cute!

tassis · 23/04/2007 19:54

(I'd def like another, but dd took about 2 years and 2 m/cs and I can't quite bring myself to think about all that again. It was a hard time. I'd quite like it just to "happen" before we start trying IYSWIM)

Coriander73 · 23/04/2007 20:05

Ivor, don't be silly! I think we're a really nice bunch & all are welcomed...

Tassis, good luck for when ever the time happens I just know sommeone will be soon though...just happy it's not me this month.....!!

bristols · 23/04/2007 20:15

Hello Ladies. You've all been chatting lots over the past few days. So much to catch up on! I especially enjoyed the conversation which took place 'under the influence' on Saturday night!!

Well, we had a fantastic weekend at the wedding in Ascot. The hotel was beautiful and, although I missed DS desperately, we had a great time. I especially enjoyed sitting out in the sunshine sipping champagne - something that's impossible with LO in tow.

DS is still poorly. Seems to be really dragging on. Runny nose, coughing etc. Still a happy little boy though. Such a smiler. No teeth yet, but I love the gummy smiles. We had a 7-9 month check last week. We had a letter from the HV asking us to go in for it. DS now weighs 22lb 12oz!! I can't believe it. Can anyone beat that??

I think a meet up would be great. Not sure how far Nottingham is from here. Ivor, don't feel like a gatecrasher. I joined later on too.

Cori - well done on resigning. Must be a great weight off your mind. Scary but also exciting. So many options open to you now. How have work been since you told them?

Watching EastEnders as I type. Dot is about to feed a newborn evaporated milk and water. Bet that will be a thread of its own on here soon!

Anyway, will try to keep up to date more often from now on. Its hard work trying to reply to you all in one go so sorry if I've missed any important points

bristols · 23/04/2007 20:16

PS. Cori - it still might me me.........
