cori sorry about your resignation, as I have said before , i've been there and it sucks, but you will feel liberated! and congrats on AF!

On the snip subject some friends of ours have 2 kids more or less exactly same age as ours and he told her after no.2 ' you have one of each (meaning a dd and a ds) so what do you want any more for' and he promtly had the snip within a few weeks of her giving birth, there was no 'ethical' argument from their doctor, they just went ahead and he is only 28!!!! I think that is crazy. I think we will definately try to have another 1, so no talk of the snip here.

DS1 bit DS2's toe this morning ...i just don't know what is with him at the moment. Maybe it's because DS2 is beginning to assert himself and is want ing to play with DS1's toys more?? i just don't know....

clairemow · 20/04/2007 19:59

Congratulations Cori! Excellent news!!

On sterilization, I know a girl who had a sterilization done at the same time as her c-section with no. 2. I think the doctors will do it if you have a good enough reason. She had a v. bad back in pregnancy and is also in her 40s I think. I'm not sure enough that I've finished with babies to have something that permanent done.

i was on the mini pill for a bit about 10 years ago, but didn't like it, mainly because you were meant to take it at exactly the same time every day or it wasn't so effective (?). So I kept forgetting at the right time, and so didn't trust it, so we were using condoms too, a bit pointless really...!!

The coil did hurt when it went in, bit like the first contractions of labour as they have to open up the cervix. Or like a smear that goes on for 20 mins. It really wasn't that bad, although I was shaky afterwards, and have had some spotting since. I think it's as effective as the pill and injection etc. although having said that, my BIL was conceived while his mother had a coil. But that was over 30 years ago, so am hoping they've improved!!!!

Cori, big congratulations on resigning as well!! It might be worth a visit to that lawyer again about constructive dismissal, although I guess you'd have to show that your employer had not given serious consideration to your request and that they had turned it down for reasons which were not sound business ones.

Well, evening in by myself tonight, glass of wine (found some Pinot Grigio blush - light pink!), Eastenders, Ugly Betty and a spot of MN in between. While DH sits in a crowded smoky pub. I must be getting old, as I know where I'd rather be....

just read your post Mabel - I have heard that after the first initial period when first borns are getting used to the arrival of a new baby, the second most likely time for the first born to play up is when baby 2 gets mobile... We're in for it over the next few months!!!!

OP posts:
Coriander73 · 20/04/2007 20:48

well, DH's vasectomy appt came through today for...MAY 10th! So much for waiting for J to turn one. The long & short of it is that DH has cold feet ish & after consultation with his parents - (due to his father having had prostate cancer & being told that it could have been as a result of his vasectomy etc) he's decided that perhaps we best wait. I can't say I'm sad...as I can see us having another but not for a while (hence MAJOR relief at AF yday!!!!)

Yes Mabel it sucks! I feel hugely annoyed & despondent as they're just willing for me to move on when for one of the reasons thay say in their appeal letter comeback is that my relationship with our customers is one they don't want to lose??!!!

DD is also displaying some of her worst behavouir ever...it's driving me nuts. Today she had a friend over & was just not interested in sharing, pushing, shoving, screeching etc etc - totally out of character - although they all have moments but this is just not normal for her to go on so long. She's snapping much more too esp. when J tries to go near her toys!! I was so fed up this evening that she went to bed at 6 sans story because she'd be such a pain....DH wants to know if I'm already regretting handing in notice.. (not for one minute!....poorer but happier!!) Clairemow I'm with you on the wine (not PG here rather a French chardonnay..how cliche!!) & TV line up...

BTW DH has just read the above & says I'm belittling him & his willy!!! That he doesn't have cold feet rather he's thought a lot about it & was being brave etc (!!) but after careful consideration he's thought better!!!!! What are these men like??!!

clairemow · 20/04/2007 20:53

Cori - "belittling him & his willy" - PMSL!!!! How funny! My DH's argument for not having it is that "he wouldn't be a whole man" if he had the snip!! They are hysterical sometimes - it's ok for us to pump ourselves full of chemicals though, when no-one really knows the long term effects as the pill has only been around 40 years...

Just struck me (after 2 glasses...), isn't it sad that we actually know quite a lot about eachother on this thread, but will probably never actually have a face to face conversation.

wouldn't you just love it if men had to give birth? The human race would have died out millenia ago...

OP posts:
Coriander73 · 20/04/2007 21:12

I've been thining a lot about that today too clairemow - do you think we'll ever have a meet up, not matter how scary that seems?! I mean, gosh, the things I've told you all!!!

clairemow · 20/04/2007 21:24

we'd have to laugh now if we met your DH!!!

Imagine the organisation in arranging a meet up for people across the whole of the UK...

OP posts:
Coriander73 · 20/04/2007 21:43

well, we could make it pretty central ish...NOTTS /STAFFS for eg?!! Or maybe we just continue being cyber pals...but I for one would love to meet up at some point (think DH would skip it though...)

Coriander73 · 20/04/2007 21:44

ooppss..on to glass number three (DH thinks he is in luck tonight...err..I think not!)...& the 70s show!!! It's so so so funny...

clairemow · 20/04/2007 21:56

Notts/STaffs!!! Ho ho!!! That would only take about 4 hours!!

Sorry, just finished 3rd glass. That's it for me, tolerance is pretty shit these days. And it so isn't worth the risk of a hangover... LAst time I had one, DS1 was about 8 months, and at 11 am, DH decided to go for a long cycle ride, leaving me to feed DS lunch. Cue trying not to smell the food, see the food, listen to him eating the food. You get the picture!

OP posts:
Coriander73 · 20/04/2007 22:03

I'm with you there..!!! I've just stumbled into the kitchen lookig for grapes!!! Oh, I say Notts / Staffs as I've just had a uni reunion up there & people came from London, Kent, Reading, Bristols, Leeds, Sheffield & me from Suffolk!! It worked pretty well - well from Leeds & Sheffield not far really but it took me 3.5 hours from outside Ipswich....or we could do nearer to home meet ups?!

clairemow · 20/04/2007 22:26

did you take the children?

OP posts:
Coriander73 · 20/04/2007 22:57

goood heavens no...

calvemjoe · 21/04/2007 17:13

Just done a whole post and lost it and now I really can't be bothered. I want to meet you all!!! We're ok, Elizabeth cut 4 teeth over the last week so we had lot's of tears.

Liquid at your Grandpa.

Cori on your resignation (at last)

Marls001 · 21/04/2007 20:00

I think it'd be so wonderful if y'all could all meet up! Though if you did then pretty certain wouldn't be able to come join you Would love to have a real UK "pen pal" though to get into all the news issues, explore the cultural differences, listen to each others' local music, hear both societies' folklore, etc.

Myrtle1 · 22/04/2007 16:31

Hello,
Got back yesterday from cornwall we had a lovely time but we all came down with a cold for the last few days. DS has been a bit grumpy and off his food but I'm hoping now we're home he'll make a speedy recovery.
OOh, I saw 2 famous people in Cornwall in the village where we were staying. Want to do a guess who anyone? I'll start you off, they were both male and I saw them on separate occasions so they're not connected.
Cori - congrats on resigning!
I would like to meet up with everyone one day

Coriander73 · 22/04/2007 17:09

err..myrtle, that really narrows it down!!!! Come on, give us another clue

Myrtle1 · 22/04/2007 19:28

Ok, they are both English and actors and middle aged.
Any questions?

compo · 22/04/2007 19:45

Hugh Grant and Stephen Fry

calvemjoe · 22/04/2007 20:34

They would have been my guesses. Anthony Hopkins? I know he's old but I couldn't think of anymore. Jude Law? (I wish) Johnny Lee Miller?

calvemjoe · 22/04/2007 20:39

I'm at work and my whole team worked on those pathetic 3 suggestions

Myrtle1 · 22/04/2007 20:50

No, they're not film actors. They're both in TV. One was in an american series but has most recently been in a comedy sketch show on british tv. The other has most recently been playing a Dr in a UK series.

liquidclocks · 22/04/2007 22:18

David Tennant?

(I realise I'm a few nights too late but I am SO tipsy )

Coriander73 · 22/04/2007 22:26

Hugh Laurie & Martin Clunes??!
