new thread here!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Myrtle1 · 23/04/2007 20:38

The HV phoned me to arrange the 7 month check. It consisted of weight, length and head measurement plus she wanted to see if he could sit unaided, roll over and bear weight on legs. Then she checked his testicles and looked at his back as well. She also talked about childproofing the house and then that was it. I had a 45 minute appointment all in all.

calvemjoe · 23/04/2007 21:03

Myrtle, I hope Ned is better soon, poor little chap. Can't beleive you saw Giles [starstruck emoticon].

I can make Nottingham, I only live in Leicester. Lets meet up, oh please!

No sign of a 7 month check here yet, will let you know if I get an appointment.Elizabeth has 5 teeth so far, read on the calpol website that they should come through at a rate of one a month, fat chance, she's been in agony.

bristols, we can't beat 22lbs, Elizabeth is only just 18lbs and she's a porker.

Cori, you'll be fine doing the whole cv thing, don't worry.

kseaj · 23/04/2007 21:56

Evening ladies

Its been so long since i have posted that theres so much to catch up on so for now i only read the last few.

Hope you and your lo's are all well.

Took jamie to be weighed today and he is 18lb 15oz, 68cm and is now 29 weeks. The hv never said anything to me about a 7 month check up.
Is anyone having problems with finger foods ds chockes on everything, he will not drink water or jucie so only has milk and wont eat foods with lumps in.

All this talk about who will be the first to be pg is making me broody, but it does not take much to do that i only have to look at a newborn. I think iam one of them women that always will feel this way, you would think that after 3 i would of had enough of the baby thing, but no not yet.

Ivor i have not been on here long either and sometimes feel like that.

Cori hope everthing works out for you.

Bristols hope your ds is feeling better soon, we can not beat 22lbs either but how many weeks is your ds jamie was a late sep birth so he could be a few weeks behind.

Will try and post more often, i say this everytime i post and never do, my days are so busy that i only have time at night and then all i want to do is sit down and rest.

fairysnuff · 23/04/2007 23:12

Yeah, don't worry Ivor. I felt that way in the beginning too. I was a bit of a late joiner too and some of these ladies have known one another since their pregnancies, but I just kept throwing in my tuppence worth and they haven't kicked me out yet

Two teeth here! The second just came through on Sunday. Ah, that will explain the day of poo!! And, yes a bit grumbly too and still so but I guess you can only expect that as the tooth still has a long way to go before it stops moving.

And we got a dadada sound on Saturday night! DH was getting her ready for bed when out it came! Whoops of joy, came in return. The whole of Sunday was spent saying dadadadada
AND (we had a momentus weekend in our house!), but she actually crawled!! Only about two steps but no tummy touched the ground! She was getting even better tonight!

Took me a bit to figure out who you meant for the first guy Myrtle, but Giles, from Buffy, Of course! Umm jury's out he is nice in a way but not my preffered stud muffin!

And LB? Nope, not my cup of tea either. DH thought it was fab but I think that was just to keep up with the lads at work more than anything else!

Ivor · 24/04/2007 01:52

Wow a crawler, you must be sooo proud
I'll not tell DH he'll sulk and say DS is behind
DS is sort of close, but it looks more like he's humping the carpet

Coriander73 · 24/04/2007 10:15

bristols, the chances are quite slim given af hasn't even arrived post pregnancy...however, only time will tell You only have one at the moment don't you? Well, it wouldn't be so bad then would it? Also where do you live again?

Work haven't even acknowledged my resignation.......I am sitting here trying to think up fantastic business ideas but it's not really happening!! When you read about those Mothers that were forced to leave their jobs after having children & then started up fab new companies...you think, "wow, of course, it's so simple"..!!!!! The thought of not having my own money for a while is quite a challenge..! DH keeps on at me not to spend spend spend..we must save all we can etc. I popped into GAP with the children on Sunday & picked up a cardie for DD & a long sleeve top for Jack in the sale (just £15)without even giving it much thought but DH went ballistic.... I guess I'm not used to explaining myself or worrying about £20 quid here & there but I'm going to have to aren't I?!!!

mabel1973 · 24/04/2007 10:45

cori - i have often thought of fabulous business ideas i could make my 1st million with...my best idea so far is baby socks that don't just fall off...not sure how that would work without cutting off their circulation though.....!

Ivor - lol at humping the carpet...we have a humper here too!
DS1 crawled at 8 months and ds2 seems to be following the same pattern development wise..sitting up early, but not really bothering with rolling, so i don't think it'll be long. My friend said she dropped a dress size when her DS2 started crawling. i guess when you've just got one it's not so bad, but when you already have one and they want their toys out with all the little bits and pieces that are just the right size to be a choking hazard, it makes it so much more of a challenge!

I am proud to say that i have just finished glossing our banisters on the staircase..so now after 2 years in this house, i can finally order a carpet for the stairs...you don't know how happy that makes me feel!

Coriander73 · 24/04/2007 11:04

Ah yes, understand Mabel...go order your carpet!! ...as for socks, the only ones I've found that stay on the best (although still come off) are baby gap ones... J isn't interested at all in being on his tummy or rolling. Loves sitting & reaching out etc but I can't see him crawling quite yet...DD crawled at 8 months but think her baby brother will be later

bristols · 24/04/2007 14:58

Cori - I live in Essex, just outside Southend on Sea.

DS was born on 3rd September, so yes, he is probably a few weeks older than most. I can't believe he's turned into such a porker. He was always the lightest at post natal class. But he loves his food! He's eaten absolutely everything I've given him so far including lumps and finger foods. So no advice there, I'm afraid, kseaj.

DS is our only child so it wouldn't be the end of the world if I were to have another. I'd just like to enjoy him on his own for a little bit longer...

We went for our first swimming lesson this morning. He loved it. He's a real water baby and even enjoyed being submerged for a second or two. Its a twelve week course so he should be an expert by the end. Perhaps I'll start training him for the 2012 olympics!

Feeling a bit sad today as my parents have just left. They were here for two weeks and we all enjoyed having them around. We'll be seeing them again at the end of May so its not too bad. They just seem so far away.

Anyway, going to have some easter egg to cheer myself up

Ivor · 24/04/2007 15:05

you still have Easter egg left!!!!

Coriander73 · 24/04/2007 15:10

bristols, sounds as though you are the nearest to me...I'm 9 miles outside Ipswich in neighbouring Suffolk

fairysnuff · 24/04/2007 15:50

Submerging?
I thought you coudl only do that when they were very small?
How would you do that then?

Sometimes DD gets dunked a bit and doesn't really bother but thats not what you mean, is it?

Yes. V proud of my wee crawler. 'Cept when she crawls right off the end of the bed.
This morning.VV
Big ugly bruise!
just gone and got some arnica cream stuff. I think she may be getting a few of those in the future.(bruises I mean.)
My mum and dad made me feel really bad about it though. Well, I felt bad anyway I don't think they added to my guilt much really.
I just wanted to hide DD from them until the bruise went down!!

Instead I brought her in to see them and mum and I decided it was time to trim her fringe, now it is as if I have highlighted it and stuck a big arrow on her head saying, Look what I did to my LO!!

fairysnuff · 24/04/2007 15:52

I am almost falling off britain I am so far north (about 5 miles from the most northern point on the mainland, I kid you not!). No chance of my making any meet ups.

Coriander73 · 24/04/2007 16:15

Perhaps you should organise a Scottish meet up & for those of us that have yet to make it North of the boarder it would be a great excuse to come too!!!!

Marls001 · 24/04/2007 18:04

What about we all just meet in New York?

bristols · 24/04/2007 18:38

Marls - am definitely up for that. Am currently dropping lots of hints (not very subtly) to DH that I'd love to go to NY for my 30th this year. Is that where you are then? Would be great to meet up there

I only have easter egg left because it was only given to me this weekend! My sister came to stay, bearing chocolate.

It really was just a dunking at swimming today. The instructor called it submerging. We did 'Humpty Dumpty' with the LOs sat on the side and when he had a great fall, we pulled them in and under the water. I'm not sure at what age they stop being able to be under water for longer periods of time. Have you seen those photos that you can have done? They look fantastic. And v expensive... \link{http://www.urchinrock.com/gallery2006.php\lovelypics

It'll be an absolute miracle if that link works. If it does, I will have to reward myself with some more easter egg.

We've been puttin DS to bed a bit later recently. We had lots of trouble getting him to sleep. I think a lot of it is due to his runny nose but he just didn't seem tired. So he doesn't go into the bath until seven now and things seem much better. Its also good because DH gets in from work at seven so he can help with the whole bedtime routine. Everyone's a winner!

bristols · 24/04/2007 18:40

GRRRRRRRRRR No chocolate for me! Try again... lovelypics

bristols · 24/04/2007 18:40

Woo hoo. Lovely, lovely choccy, here I come

tassis · 24/04/2007 19:53

Fairysnuff, we have a wedding in Caithness this summer! Sadly we'll be making a very quick dash up and back as probably leaving ds and only taking dd so not going to manage a meet up but thought I should say Hi! as a fellow Scot (I'm in Stirling). Also say you asking about wraps on another thread IMHO tots wraps arent' fantastic They have to be washed at 40 which is a pain if you wash rest at 60. We got on really well with motherease wraps for ds, but i'm now bored of all their designs and so have just bought a cute girly nature babies one that I'm liking so far!

fairysnuff · 24/04/2007 22:58

I do put everything through on a 40 degree wash anyway, so maybe they will be ok for me. Do you think they will do the trick for a night time wrap?
They seem so much nicer than the PUL ones.

When is your wedding? And who is it?
Quite possibly I know them, or someone who does anyway!
Could be, I am going!
Actually, that is presumptious (sp?) of me. My neighbours are getting married in July and we invited them to our evening do. Also DH has been invited on the Stag Night. But still, shouldn't presume.

mabel1973 · 25/04/2007 08:50

Fairy - i have a tots wrap and haven't been that impressed either. It doesn't have the extra leg bit, so they can leak, the best ones i''ve got are motherease rikki and a nature babies one.

10 sleeps to go til we go on holiday, can you tell I'm excited!
I have made a list for me and DH and a list for the boys..there's is about 3 times longer than ours!

DS2 has been waking during the night this week, not sure if it's teeth, this morning it was midnight and about 5ish, and before that a bout 4.15am for 2 days - it's a killer.
I quick feed and he's back off to sleep, don't want to get him back into the habit of a night feed though..

homemama · 25/04/2007 13:18

Hi ladies, just popping in to check everyone is well!

You guys are all so good about keeping this thread up. I wish I could find the time as I loved our ante-natal thread. I seem to just pop on to MN every other day for 10min. Not enough time to read everyone's posts and do you all justice.
Maybe when DS goes to nursery in Sept (if you're all still around )and I'm back to just having one. Or maybe if I go back to work...

Congratulations on the crawling, fairysnuff. DD is trying, up on all fours, pushing forward but then landing on her chin. No sitting yet though.

Anyway, till next month take care!
Enjoy your holiday, Mabel

bristols · 25/04/2007 19:30

Well, what a night last night! DS woke himself up coughing at about 3am and at 5am I was still trying to settle him. In the end I took him into our bed and after he sang to us for ten minutes or so () he finally dropped off. Am so tired today! Could really do with going to bed now but DH doesn't finish work until 8pm today so we won't eat til late.

Homemama - good to see you again. I'm sure we'll all still be here in September. We'll be discussing birthday parties etc. Time is just flying.

Am such a saddo. There's nothing on tv at the mo so I have 'The Wedding Channel' on in the background. Feel free to take the mick. I deserve it.

calvemjoe · 25/04/2007 23:41

Bristols I watch birth stories I think you can get away with the wedding channel!

Can we meet at Center Parcs for a mumsnet break?

Cori, I think someone should market a breast feeding tabel that hooks over your shoulders and stops food from dropping on you lo's head (what, both of my lo's fed for ages and I got hungry!)

Fairysnuff, congrats on your crawler. Submerging is fine in all babies and children as long as it is only for a short period of time. If you are worried, blow on babies face 1st and they will breath in, you can then safely dunk them whilst they breath out.

Bristols, I'm glad you enjoyed your 1st swimming lesson with youe lo.

Tassis, I quite like the look of the popilini wraps, they have some sweet designs and they used to be the european producers of motherease so maybee they are similar to the Rikki wrap. I like the one with gardening bugs on it, and I'm trying to convince dh we need more than 4 wraps

calvemjoe · 25/04/2007 23:42

Sorry about the spelling, I'm so tired, my bedtime was hours ago, stupid work
