Plus (forgot to add) when it comes to parenting I have enough trouble sometimes with that voice inside my own head

-- Also forgot to say hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Myrtle1 · 15/02/2007 11:12

Apologies for mentioning it but I had a look on that other thread and clicked on the profile bit for VVVQ and it lists all their recent posts and there is one called "I had sex with my husbands twin!!".

Myrtle1 · 15/02/2007 11:14

Just reread and VVQ posted but it wasn't her that slept with the twin - got confused sorry.

clairemow · 15/02/2007 11:23

hi all,

Think the sleeping with DH's twin turned out to be a troll thread... someone called kittylette - she name changed for the original post but forgot to name change about 4 posts later. Ooops!!!!

Did that with ctrl C and V!!

WHAT'S A TROLL THREAD????
oh blimey i really need to get with it.
Bristols, i don't know about bumbo's getting your lo to poo, but in our house, if he does poo while he's in it, it's a sure fire way of launching said poo all the way up his back...as far up as his neck! It happened last week, and there was hardly any poo in his actual nappy, just a trail of it up the inside of his vest stopping around his hairline!

ezridax - don't worry about whether your little one is in a routine/ sleeping through etc etc and certainly don't compare him to other children! My DS1 was in 'the routine that must not be mentioned' and was a difficult baby, and is quite a boisterous toddler now, whereas DS2 has been left more to find his own routine (he still hasn't found it!!) and is much more chilled, but they just have totally different personalities. In my opinion it is more important to have love and security than anything else.

Ds2 woke for a feed at 4.30am this morning...I am giving him 6 feeds plus 2 feeds of solids, seriously thinking of introducing breakfast as well, just wondered what everyone else is doing?

Fairy - Ds2 goes in his door bouncer and has been in for a few weeks, he does little jigs in it now, like he's doing Riverdance!!!!

bristols · 15/02/2007 20:33

We call our LO 'Michael Flatley' when he's in the door bouncer too! He's been going in it for a fair few weeks now (since about christmas) and he's just about got the hang of actually bouncing.

Mabel - know what you mean about the poo around the shoulders!

Did anyone manage to do anything last night? My DH was at work until 8.30pm so we didn't do anything out of the ordinary. What a sad state of affairs!!!

mabel1973 · 15/02/2007 20:44

bristols - we were all young and hip and went to see the NME tour, it was very good and ages since I've been to see a band...DH treated me to a kebab as well...ooo the romance isn't dead in our relationship!

clairemow · 15/02/2007 20:51

hello everyone, we didn't do anything last night, DH was away in London so I watched TV by myself!

A troll thread is one that isn't true, someone's made it up for their own amusement. I think a "troll" is when a MNetter changes her name to start/contribute to a thread in a different name maybe to stir things up... I sometimes wonder how many trolls there are on here, after all it's very anonymous... also how many different personas people have on here...

I'm off tomorrow on my little jaunt on the piste.. Looking forward to it, although not to the flight at 6 am, so airport for 4... Yawn...!

See you all next week!

Have fun claire X

Coriander73 · 15/02/2007 21:32

Evening

I've had a couple of full on days -DD relasped with her cold / sickness etc so had another to docs who finally gave her some antibios. I've never known my daughter to be so clingy & want mummy every second of every day for the past 6 days. It's been really tough! Yday Jack was also bad, teeting, irritable etc. At one point I had them both on the sofa crying at me....I didn't know which one to turn to first so I said, rather scastically but not without a hint of "if only", Mummy is going on holiday" to which DD cried no Mummy!! Bless...just one of those desperate moments that I'm sure we have now & again

Still plodding on with bottles & maybe solids this weekend (dare I mention that word?!...upset me more than I thought that's why I have't been on for a while). He isn't rolling yet but gaining strength when he sits up which he likes to do. I'm sure DD was sitting by 5 months but they do say that they all develop at different paces...he does love the door bouncer & the bumbo - which a friend has lent us, I didn't like the idea of using one for DD, not quite sure why but it's great putting him on the work top when baking with DD..

Have a great time clairemow..

kseaj · 15/02/2007 23:49

hi all

I never get time to post anymore, what alot of activity since i last did.

Welcome to the new people.

Cori dont let it bother you its not worth it. I once posted asking for advice on morning routine and how to get dd to school on time, in the end i got accused of not caring about dd feelings think some people come on here just to argue.

Have been busy here auntie has been poorly and have spent most nights at the hostpital with my mum.
Have started to wean ds and his little arms and legs go everywhere when he see's me walk in the room with his food. He is not sitting yet and shows no signs of teething and if he follows his sister and brother he wont do untill 9 months.

How are you all bathing your lo's dh baths ds due to my hands and he is struggling to hold him, he loves the bath and riddles all over the place. Do any of you use bath seats? do they have to be able to sit up on their own before you use one? Can not remember what i did with the other 2 it was only two years ago how quick i forget.

Had a big bunch of flowers yesterday

Well going to bed now.
Hope you and your lo's are well and i will have t post more often i miss too much when i dont

Claire hope you have a good time.

Marls001 · 16/02/2007 17:06

Cori I'm so sorry. I really don't think it matters. Really. One good thing about that thread for me was that I was beginning to think Jameson was abnormal as he (still) hates anything but the bottle; now I'm just going to chill out. (Loved Chillout's responses, BTW.) Jameson is rolling over very rarely, & is nowhere near sitting up. Since we put him on a schedule he's been sleeping beter, but still only 7 hours straight, nowhere near the 10-12 the books say he should. He's a very happy baby, though (now). And that needs to be all that matters, I guess. It's easy for me to think "Is there something off here? Because everyone else's baby ..." But I know I have to squash that if I'm going to stay sane.

In Real Life, have never been with a group of women who argue about parenting styles. Everyone just smiles & lets everyone else do what they want, because it's their kid. Which makes sense, doesn't it? I find these extreme posters very strange. Haven't met anyone like that.

Marls001 · 16/02/2007 18:13
  • And I can't stand sweeping generalizations!
Ivor · 16/02/2007 18:36

Hello, can I join in with your thread?
My PFB DS was born Sept 5th, and is a very happy little chap I'm pleased to say
Congrats to everybody else on their September babies

Myrtle1 · 16/02/2007 19:26

Welcome Ivor What does PFB stand for?

I gave DS some parsnip puree today and he was lunging at the spoon to get at it
He has had a cold but seems to be getting over it now but the last few days have been exhausting!

Ivor · 16/02/2007 19:29

Precious First born
At the mo, my little one is seriously into Bananas, he likes to wear them all over his face

Ivor · 17/02/2007 00:56

Is it just me or do others find they are the kiss of death to a thread?

fairysnuff · 17/02/2007 11:26

Hi Ivor and welcome.
No, you are not alone! I sometimes feel like the kiss of death to a thread too.
Although recently I was the start to an awful debate which we are all glad is over!!
But for a while before that I did feel as though no-one liked me they all seemed to leave the room (as it were) as soon as I entered!! I nearly stopped bothering with MN at all!
You have come to the right place now though

So glad you cleared up that PFB, I read it somewhere else and had no clue as to what they were talking about!?

I am no where near weaning yet. Still BF for me!
I am planning to puree some stuff for the freezer today though, in preparation. Can you freeze banana puree/mush?

Ivor · 17/02/2007 14:35

Hello Fairysnuff, thanks it's good to know its not just me!
Things do seem to get out of control occationally, I've read some threads that I've been very pleased not to have been involved in
But it's nice to communicate with others who have LO's the same age as my little angel ( who is currently crying and being all sad because his teeth are coming through )
I'm so glad the BF thing is all over, my DS and I never really connected and I used a pump and then feed him using a bottle! I think he must be part shark, OMG did he chew!
Don't think bananas are good for freezing as they turn all yucky and brown!

compo · 17/02/2007 17:18

Hi ivor and Fairysnuff.
There is no point freezing banana - the best thing about them is that no pureeing, freezing, reheating etc is necessary. They are the easiest weaningt food as you just mash and shove in

liquidclocks · 17/02/2007 20:17

Arrghh! I did that whole long post and losing it thing! grrr.

So in short points, Hi Ivor - don't worry about killing this thread at least, we're old die hards!

No point freezing bananas but a big hit with DS1 was mashed potato, small amount of red/green peppers and peas with a teeny bit of mint all whizzed up - that and apple and pear puree - yummy!

I've also found since that lentils and chickpeas make good bases for puree and have protein in too so very healthy.

DH cooking and nearly done so have to go buy wine...

ezridax · 17/02/2007 21:43

Hi Ivor - this thread is the best! I pop in and out and always feel welcome

Thanks Mabel for reasurance, i know we're not supposed to compare but it's so hard not to.

For reference my LO isn't really attempting to roll over. He does turn from his back onto his side and back again when he's having a BF in the morning, but it seems he has no reason to go onto his tummy.
But i will say the sooner he learns to talk the better. He spends a large part of the day shouting at me. I bought a baby sign book and i'm trying to sign for him so that he can communicate because he already seems frustrated.

I've well and truly become a parent. When i walk into a shop i walk straight to the kids dept. I don't even have to buy anything for myself! What's happening to the world.

I gave my LO some pureed sweet potato today and he LOVED it. I feel like making him a sandwich he's so eager

I know what you mean Myrtle about the lunging at the spoon. I want him to join in but i'd also like some food to go in his mouth, because he does actually like it.

Liquid, what do you put with the chickpeas/lentils? Do you boil/steam them?

Ivor · 18/02/2007 02:51

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, makes you feel all fluffy inside

I take DS to a story time at our local library, he must be one of the youngest there, but he's totally transfixed by the lady who does the songs and stories It's a tad American and my chum (also British) and I have a hard time keeping a straight face. He seems to get so much from being with the other kiddies, and talk about flirt with the girls, his Dad is sooo proud

kseaj · 18/02/2007 12:41

morning everyone

Justjamtarts everyone is very nice on this thread

Welcome ivor

Ezridax i know what you mean about going straight to the childrens department, can not remember when i last brought something for myself.
