I'm hoping to have a full day in cloth nappies today so far so good but once i go to work dh is in charge. I've told him he better use cloth not disposable so we'll see what happens

Sorry Dame no experience here, hopefully somebody will be more help than me

Flamesparrow · 20/02/2007 11:06

Hide the disposables

ellenrose · 20/02/2007 11:31

Belated birthday wishes Chloe - hope you had a lovely day.

Happy Birthday Anya

MRM - opening birthday stuff ? Do you mean Brams pressies?

CSWS - sorry to hear poor Pippa has been so rough. Maisie has been suffering for the past couple of weeks with her temperature going up and down all the time. Went back to the docs yesterday because she now has yellow sticky gunk pooring out of her eyes as well - eye drops with a squirming 1 year old - oh what joy

Flame - hooray for the dry and full nights sleep.. Hate to say it but Maisie always sleeps through when we have had to use disposables . . . ellenrose skulks away refusing to see link . . . I love my reusables and woolly wraps, I love my resuasables and woolly wraps, I love my reusables and woolly wraps . . .

mustrunmore · 20/02/2007 12:25

Well, we started off opening stuff from friends on party day. Then I thought i'd better open the cards that I knew had money in, as we were going to the bank anyway. Then I thought we might aswell open all the cards. And a couple of the pressies that we knew what they were Tomorrow he has one from us , one from ds1, and some from Granny and an auntie!

2boysmacca · 20/02/2007 13:06

We haven't got him anything Ds1 has got him a thomas train (that he wanted himself, but they could 'share') and that's it! We are hoping to get the boys a play centre for the garden so that'll be part of his present. We had every intention of getting him a giant wooden fire engine but we never got round to it. I still want to get it for him but we'll do it later in the year when he'll show more interest in it.

ellenrose · 20/02/2007 14:34

MRM Imagining the scene from Friends where Monica opens all the wedding presents

We did, or are going to get stuff for the garden just as soon as the weather gets warmer and Maisie will be more interested.

CSWS - did you decide on your sand-pit?

CanSleepWontStarve · 20/02/2007 15:10

We did ellenrose - we went for the German one like dame has in the end. It arrived a day late and still hasn't been built , but she wouldn't have been out in it in this weather anyway.
Don't fancy having to do eyedrops - getting medicine in her mouth is bad enough - goodness knows how I'd keep her still enough for eye stuff. Hope Maisie is brighter soon.

Am annoyed with myself - I have cards for Bram and Emrys but have forgotten to bring them with me to post. They will both have to have them late! (No offence to anyone else - not favouritism - just saw them and they were too perfect not to get!!)

Happy Birthday Anya.

Anyone else had pancakes yet? Mum made some lunchtime - gave dd one with mushed broccoli and fake cheese - she did eat nearly half of it (her only solids of the day), but then didn't even try the sweet dessert one we'd done for her, so I had to eat it instead .

Flamesparrow · 20/02/2007 15:23

Why do I see pirate cards coming through?

damewashalot · 20/02/2007 16:11

have a baby with a big bump on his head from falling down a step onto kitchen floor.
off to make pancakes, happy birthday to all thoses I keep missing can't remember rl friends b'days either.

Chloe55 · 20/02/2007 18:16

Whoops did he actually ring you PG? Sorry, I took the phone off him and saw your name but didn't think it had rung through!

Dame - for bumpy baby, is it pancake day?

Jelley · 20/02/2007 19:16

Yes, pancake day. DD ate a bit of one, but not much.

but at sleeping Flameboy, and @ dry bed for B

DS hasn't slept alot in the day again, but is going down early, and still only waking once so I'm not complaining.

I'm considering stopping bf....what are other bfers doing past a year? He only feeds morning, night, and once in the night, with cm in the afternoon. I want to stop the night feed, but not sure how I could do it without stopping completely.

Jelley · 20/02/2007 19:18

bumped baby, and ear drops. Not ignoring you, just rubbish memory.

Oh yes, mrm - did read the shoe offer, and not reply, too. I know it's too late now anyway, but no thankyou - not going to bother until he is walking as they get lost anyway.

PhoenixGirl · 20/02/2007 20:08

Chloe - don't worry i was on my way to work so he didn't wake me up

2boysmacca · 20/02/2007 20:48

Dh is sulking. I made him feel guilty that he's not taken the day off work tomorrow and is going out for beers and footie in the evening.

3k · 20/02/2007 21:02

DS seems to be very constipated since going onto cows milk. He cried earlier trying to squeeze a plum size lump out!!! He has his 12 month check tomorrow so may mention it to HV.

Well DH came here this morning for an hour, didnt talk too much I did invite him to dinner tonight but he turned me down. Spoke earlier on phone re DS and I text him saying that I feel he has given up. He did phone my sister on Sun in tears and she spoke to him tonight and he says he just needs space - there is absolutely nothing going on with this other woman and he does still love me. He has been summoned to his parents tomorrow and then he is having DS on Thurs and Fri morning whilst I clean. He said to my sister it is lots of little silly things that has got to him and they have all mounted up. Think only time will tell what will happen really, in the meantime I am struggling to stay happy enough to entertain DS especially when he is moaning all the time with his bad poos!!! Actually feel like I could fall apart but trying very hard to keep it together for DS. I just hate not knowing what is going to happen and I feel so bloody lonely once DS is in bed. Sigh. I'm sure things will work out for the best either way, just need to give him the space he needs.

MRM - DS is 4.5G in shoes. Are they boys or girls???

2boysmacca · 20/02/2007 21:12

I hope you start to feel better soon. You need to do something for yourself, keep yourself entertained in the evneing. Read a book, get some films out. Go out with firends, or get them round. Rediscovering yourself might just help.

Prune juice for constipation. Ds2 used to poo every 10 days (i kid ye not) and by the end the little man was so uncomforatble. A little prune juice really does work wonders.

3k · 20/02/2007 21:35

Yuk!! Prune juice!! Thank you, I will get some tomorrow.

Just realised DS's 12 month check was today and I missed it!!! I used to be so organised!!!

Well DS is in bed, think he is missing his daddy as he isnt eating much. I've just put some dinner in oven, going to watch Eastenders and then will try and have an early night.

Phoenix - how are you doing with your cloth nappies? DS has been in both disposables and reusables this weekend but had a full day in them today. DH however will choose a disposable over a cloth - - says they are easier as cloth are too fiddly!!

CanSleepWontStarve · 20/02/2007 21:38

Hey 3K - there are hundreds of friends just a click away in the evenings! I manage without dh by whiling away time on MN. I don't have lots of friends nearby so no-one to just pop round, but it doesn't get too lonely. I've always had the impression that you have lots of family and friends nearby, so do lean on them when you need to.

I think mrm's shoes will be boys, as she's never had a girl!

macca - your dh should feel guilty.

Jelley - morning and night bfs continuing for the foreseeable future here, although I guess it's a bit diff for me as we don't have the option of cows milk. You know that Leon doesn't need milk in the night - it's just a bad habit now, so you need a way to break the habit if you want to continue bf'ing at other times. Have you tried offering cm in the night - what happens? Isn't the usual suggestion to do that, then gradually water it down until they don't think it's worth waking for. Or alternatively to shorten the length of the bf by a minute or two each night or so, until similarly it isn't worth waking.

2boysmacca · 20/02/2007 21:40

Agree, tastes terrible. Even worse drinking it yourself for your LO!

2boysmacca · 20/02/2007 21:44

csws I'm so glad you said that! I've just stuck a few balloons up around the house, ds1 will love 'em. I hope the weather is good because I plan to take them to the park then onto Ask or Prezzo, still undecided.

Jelley · 20/02/2007 22:01

csws - I know he doesn't need feeding in the night, but at 3am it is so easyjust to put him on the bed and go back to sleepHe is going 7-8 hours before he wakes. I was hoping he would just gradually sleep longer, and he does seem to be, but it would be nice to sleep all night.

I think I'll try having cm ready next week when (hopefully ) his temp is stable again.

DP has just woken him by coughing (alot)

Jelley · 20/02/2007 22:04

we don't get a 12 month check - nothing now 'til 2.5 yrs I think.

macca - take lots of pics and then you can remind dh of what he has missed. I wouldn't worry about him not taking time off work, but I do think going out in the evening is a bit mean!

CanSleepWontStarve · 20/02/2007 22:18

Oh yes, I meant to say that I'm not aware of a 12 month check. Did you have an 8 (ish) month check too 3k?

OP posts:
CanSleepWontStarve · 20/02/2007 22:21

Jelley - have no idea what it's all about, but you might need to re-incarnate dave - here .

OP posts:
Jelley · 20/02/2007 22:22

Funnily enough, I just did

No idea what it is about, either...

DS went back to sleep. I'm going to bed.
