Sept 05 babies - anyone else's destroying their house?

My 16 month/nearly 17 month old is systematically destroying our house. I literally cannot clear up one mess before he's made another. Today in the space of 30 minutes, he had got into three toilets and either pulled used paper out of them, shoved toys in them or used the loo brush to paint the walls.

He then got into the kitchen cupboard and got into the box of teabags and ripped them apart sprinkling the tea leaves on the floor.

He then walked into the hallway, reached up to the top of the telephone table (fairly high) and managed to knock off a VERY heavy glass vase so that it smashed into a million tiny shards (and remarkably walked away unhurt) and at the same time managed to smash the mini CD player underneath the vase.

While out at a soft play centre, he knocked over someone's cup of coffee, stole someone's lollipop and someone else's drink.

Once home, he dug up freshly planted bulbs and brought all the mud inside which he deposited in the kitchen cupboard.

Supper was smeared everywhere - I now have cous cous from floor to ceiling. And I won't even get started on what the toy room looks like.

In case you're wondering, I do keep an eye on him but have a 3 year old too and need to occassionally pee or get dressed. I feel like I am about to lose my mind. My house is a shit pit. I know I will spend hours clearing it up tonight only to have it destroyed again tomorrow.

Sorry for the moan. Just needed to get it off my chest instead of throttling the small chap. I know he's just exploring but my patience is wearing thin.

I keep misisng this thread - if it weren't fpr wabbit's late night posts, I'd never see it.

Hope everyone is doing well.

We've been busy - made a gingerbread house, and saw Santa last week. DS took it all very seriously. Busy week again this week, but should be fun.

What is everyone else up to?

wabbit · 18/12/2007 01:01

Oooh look what I can do! ... isn't it cool???

Or am I sad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

wabbit · 18/12/2007 01:09

heya OR! Late nights are a bit of a speciality of mine... need a good man to entice me into bed at a reasonable hour!!!

I've not done any of my Christmas stuff yet, but it's par for the course with me... I never have by a week before, have a secret desire to be one of those people who starts their christmas shopping in September and glides seamlessly into christmas without hiccough! Maybe in another lifetime??

Conrad has had his first haircut... i can assure you, it's quite a subtle one!! only took the length off the back and didn't venture anywhere near his naturally emo fringe!!

Nighty night xx

I here ya, Wabbitt. But where does one find such a man? Or any man, for that matter.

Bet C looks lovely.

Oooops. I just missed my mouth and sloshed red wine all over the carpet

mummyhill · 23/12/2007 22:38

Hi all

Nooooo not a hair cut poor little C I quite like his long locks.

Just about ready for Christmas but has all been a bit of a rush.

Not doing as well as I would like but am starting to feel a little more normal now.

mummyhill · 26/12/2007 08:27

Redhelen · 29/12/2007 12:14

Red Helen, that sounds like a really exhausting Christmas for you all... how did the little ones fare?

Conrad still has his lovely long fringe... just cropped the longest hair from the nape of his neck... we'll have to meet up MH so you can see it and approve

Actually looking forward to returning to work next Tuesday... needed the break though - it's been revitalising

mummyhill · 13/01/2008 08:47

Hi everyone. Up and down like a yoyo atm. Davey not well Nat pushing her luck. Both adults have very short tempers.

Redhelen · 14/01/2008 15:01

I'm sorry to hear that Mummyhill - I really hate this time of year. The weather, the bugs going round - nothing to look forward to - soon be spring

wabbit · 29/01/2008 19:53

RH - Man still very much of the moment... he's really very lovely - engineer for Jaguar, giggles as much as I do, likes art movies and more alternative music... is equally at ease with Nandy as he is with Conrad and it seems like he's as bowled over as I am - very happy wabbit - keeping me busy though as to make time for 'us' everything else gets squidged a little bit!

MH - sorry to hear of your ups and downs, we'll have to get together in the half term (I've got fish so they're a really good excuse to go to melbics

Hope everyone else is having good January

Snowdrops are out and shaking their little bells MH... spring can't be too far off now

How are you Mummyhill? - is 2008 getting better for you?

mummyhill · 01/03/2008 07:38

2008 is starting to look beter.

Davey is trying to potty train. I had to put him in disposables recently as I hadn't got any wraps that were big enough for him. He got terrible nappy rash which bled so I got the potty down, explained what it was for and let him get used to it being in the living room. Well yesterday he took his nappy off and used the potty when I was out in the kitchen. So now at home I am letting him run round nappyless. Nursery are going to help with the training.
