castlesintheair · 18/03/2007 08:33

Sorry to hear about your scary experience Eli, hope you are all ok.

Magnolia, I started DS on solids at 16 weeks as he was gagging for it and he didn't have gastric reflux. Boys can be really hungry and just need more bulk than girls IMO. Am probably starting DD2 in next week or so too as she does have gastric reflux, is trailing my every mouthful, is waking earlier and she's got teeth

AQ, still feel pants some days. Sorry it's getting worse for you. I've tried everything, had everything tested and still no change. I do find when I'm "on" Spatone I feel better but I don't think you are meant to take it all the time? I'm only bfing DD2 3 x a day now and once I've got her on solids (see above) might reduce it even more. She's doing great and there are no allergies whatsover in our family so I'm not worried about dropping bf'ing altogether in a month or whenever. I'm pretty fed up with all this baby malarky now, I've been doing it non-stop for 5 years now and fancy a break !!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!

margo1974 · 18/03/2007 13:46

Hope you all had breakfast in bed and took it easy!

SachaF · 18/03/2007 15:33

Well so far for mother's day I was allowed to go back to bed for an hour after feeding DS - but then when I got up to feed again I was asked to hurry up as dh wanted to head over to my mothers to paint her fence (whilst she went out) but the washing hadn't been hung out, then ds fell asleep on way over, then fed when got here, then cried as he was tired, slept whilst I ate, then he woke and wanted to eat again, and I surfed MN whilst feeding! So apart from my extra hour in bed it's been frantic! Must also get to the shops to buy myself some flowers (using dh's cash) before they all shut .
Have been reading up about milk supply. I thought 50 minute nursing sessions were the norm, what I've read seems to substantiate that. As to pumping, it is about this time that supply = demand and pumping may only get 1/2 oz so I don't feel too bad. If I can I am going to try to get a session in between feeds as this should equal empty breasts therefore trigger me to produce more - fingers crossed! Then I may be able to get a haircut some time!
Elibean - I would love an extra ME wrap or two - I assume these ar ethe small 10-20lb size? email me: sachaj_course at yahoo dot com. Thanks.
Enjoy the rest of your mother's day all!

babypowder · 18/03/2007 15:34

Happy mothers' day everyone! (except our North American correspondents - your time will come )
I've just finished making chocolate mousse for my mothers day treat (DD1) is just too young to do anything other than 'help'!!
Eli, if you're looking for a home for wraps and nappies, I'm always happy to oblige

Indith · 18/03/2007 15:48

Happy Mothers day!

I got a card 'from' ds, awake at 7 though (but ds slept til 9 yesterday so can't complain). Was very nice though, had a huge night feed reduction last night and at 7 had a wide awake but very happy baby who didn't even want breakfast yet so I changed his nappy and took him to bed in just his nappy and we all cuddled and smiled away.

Also ds has finally taken a bottle using nuk teats although formula doesn't seem to agree with him as he brought it all up and not in a normal baby way in a retching horrible way. Anyway to be honest the subsequent engorgement and leaking not worth it but nice to know I can finally have the freedom to express and leave him. With finals growing ever nearer nice to know that dp can cover at least one night feed too so I can get a good night before an exam.

So odd to hear peopl talking about solids already, time flies doesn't it!

Indith · 18/03/2007 15:53

Oh yes, you seem to have a couple of takers for nappies Eli but should there be any left aftr they've been at them.........

Addicted? Moi?

I defy any of you to not go awwww and want to buy these they are the cutest things in the world ever. And no I have not bought them, I do have a small amount of willpower.

jabberwocky · 18/03/2007 15:57

Happy Mother's Day to you guys over there - ours isn't until May.

Sorry I'm so out of the loop right now. Life just seems to be speeding by and I hardly ever get time online anymore

Ds2 had a better night last night though so maybe I'll have a bit of energy today and get caught up on things. Eli, I did see your post about dd1's accident. How scary! I'm so glad she's OK.

Elibean · 18/03/2007 19:31

Speeding by...yes, oh yes

Will make a list of nappies/wraps and sizes and post it tomorrow or, you never know my luck, later. Sacha, will send you some ME first, as you asked first, then divide rest between BP and Indith, if you still want 'em when you've seen the sizes and makes!

Thanks Jabber and Castles, dd1 is fine, we all are - though dd2 has a cold again and we were up half the night last two nights. Mothers Day...a blur, and NO lie in grrr though did have lovely card from dd1 and flowers from both dds aka dh

Have to say, how I feel is totally related to how much sleep I've had recently. Depressed when not enough, pretty great when had enough...

Castles and AQ, hope the dizziness leaves you both alone soon.

And Happy MOthers Day, Europeans, whats left of it!

Elibean · 18/03/2007 20:41

Sacha, will email you - have two ME Airflow 'small'.

Indith and BP, have two Wacky Wraps (fleece, gorgeous, one purple and one pale pink) would you like one each?? They're 'small' too.

Indith · 18/03/2007 20:50

Small would fit for a little while longer...could I put in an early bid for purple? I think the pink would suit BP's dd a little better than ds!

accessorizewithbabysick · 18/03/2007 20:50

Indith, sounds like your ds's spurt over, then? My ds has had one this weekend, well I think it was one it's hard to tell when he feeds so damn much normally. Sleeping in until 7 (much less 9) sounds blissful. Can't say I'm bothered that much anymore, if one of them doesn't get me up before 6 the other one will . But then I, unlike many of you, am getting sleep. And I absolutely agree with you Eli that less sleep=depression, I think it was half my problem with ds1. And I must stop buying nappies & wraps so you must not tell me about cute ones went to baby show yesterday & got to see all the nappies, I wish I hadn't bought so many of the same really as I want more & I've got size 2's which are meant to last until potty training. Sigh.

Dizzy spells a plenty today (thanks so much for the best wishes about these, very nice of you but I've come to think it's just low bp combined with dehydration. My bp drops when I'm feeding loads & he's been a MONSTER this week. Solids sounding soooo good but trying to hang on as I can still just about cope with it. Castles, totally understand that you're ready to give it up, I would done a month ago at least in your position. There are allergies in my family tho (I'm asthmatic, dp eczema) & I only fed ds1 for a little time so going to stick with it. And start drinking a few litres more!

Sacha, interested in the idea that 50 mins is the norm - do you have any web sites to point to?

accessorizewithbabysick · 18/03/2007 20:51

OOh, I so wish ds would fit into a small wacky wrap! Waiting until he's grown out some wraps before I can justify another purchase...

Indith · 18/03/2007 21:00

I have my eye on wacky wraps for when he grows out of what I have! They will be ace for the summer to show off under t shirts! must remember to get unisex ones though, reminding dp that all this stuff will last many more children is the only way I get away with it!
Totally agree about not buying so many of the same thing, my nappy list under construction for 20lb+ is far more varied- minkis for going to nursery as I can pre stuff them so just as easy as disposable for the staff, some fluffles as the mainstay for their sheer quick drying wonderfullness, maybe a couple of bamboozles to be nice and slim fitting under clothes......

I felt so sorry for ds earlier, he was fussing and wanting a nappy change half an hour before bath time and I just couldn't be bothered so I stripped him totally and put him on his play gym. The little nudist was having a great time kicking around and gurgling away then suddenly he brought up rivers of vomit, he was literally swimming in the stuff!

accessorizewithbabysick · 18/03/2007 21:24

Know what you mean about rivers of vomit, my ds seems to spend half his day throwing up on me. I just get the washing pile under control....

Think I might have to sell off some nappies (presumably before they get stained) so I can buy some more - I have 8 fluffles & 10 wbb's/bambineo's. Bambineos dry quite a bit faster than the old wbb's, I'm finding & they're really soft.

margo1974 · 18/03/2007 21:33

Yep, me too. We went out for my Aunt's birthday yesterday and I gave dd2 a bottle of formula, she spewed over 4 different people.

I can tell with b/f when she has had enough as she just "chews" quickly, with bottles, she doesn't know when to stop.

I hadn't given her formula for about 4 days either as she has had another cold. It's quite disconcerting seeing tiny ones throw up catarrh. yuk. At least it's clearing up now

margo1974 · 18/03/2007 22:35

BTW - is it right that the thread is limited to 1000 posts... should we start a new one?

lucy5 · 18/03/2007 22:45

Hola all! Not mother's day here in sunny Spain either but it is Father's day tomorrow just to confuse matters. We decided to celebrate the Spanish date as this corresponds with what dd will make at school.

I have had a horrible couple of days with ds, assume it's teething,he has all the classic symptoms but itseems so early.

DD has spilt juice on my keyboard and my space bar is sticking, so it has taken me ages to type this!

Elibean · 19/03/2007 08:11

Hola Lucy

Flying post (nursery calls) Indith: very didn't check design last night, but purple one actually has a pink fairy on the bum! The pale pink one has a yellow sun. Both very girly, am so sorry. Welcome to it if you want it, but otherwise - BP, cat me your address and I'll send them to you.

Elibean · 19/03/2007 08:11

Thinking the same, Margo...should we? If we do, lets keep the *s in the title 'cos it makes it SO fast and easy to spot...

babypowder · 19/03/2007 09:43

Just off to a meeting, Eli, but I'll CAT you as soon as I can today - hopefully this morning. Thanks

It's snowing really heavily here, BTW - I thought it was spring?

castlesintheair · 19/03/2007 09:55
