I want to go to waitrose and buy a ME wrap but not allowed to spend more money on nappy related stuff. can't wait til he grows out of his fluffles! Mind out I've not had leaks since he got a bit fatter around the thighs! I have a couple of bamboo terries too and my folding is getting pretty kick ass I love them and they do look cute all done up like a little parcel.

Ds got more and more snuffly last night (but slept very well and this morning could hardly breathe while feeding and then brought up the most radioactive green gunk I've ever seen. Must have felt good to have it out of the way judging by the smiles I got afterwards!

Can't believe how huge he is now, we are pretty much into 3-6 stuff

Oh and hands up who else would like to kill their HV for continually talking to them as though they were 5 years old?

satinshoes · 14/03/2007 09:41

lol indith. my hv thinks i'm about 3! but at least her heart is in the right place.

castlesintheair · 14/03/2007 14:26

DD2 is teething - I can see the little blighters trying to force their way through her wee gums!!! I can't believe they are so early but it explains the recent grumpiness and waking at 5.30am today.

Have posted on goodhousekeeping, but does anyone know how to get that horrible bright kids putty stuff that bounces out of the carpet? DD1 very kindly trampled it in this morning. Oh, double joy!

LowFatMilkshake · 14/03/2007 15:41

Castle, if it is the putty stuff that is oil based try WB40 - or something else to break down the chemicals.

DS ha been teasing me with naps yet again today. he contnues to have his yogurt in the middle of his 4 hourly feeds, but prune juice curdles it so that has to be given 4 hours earlier or later. And all this has to be doe around naps - I am constantly clock watching and juggling times in my head to make sure all feeds are fitted in and I'm not in danger of waking him to early!

DD has a temperature - so i am getting ready for another family outbreak, although DS is on the last couple of doses of AB - so I am hoping it;s enough to help him fend f anything else - unless it's viral.

BTW anyone know how common chicken pox are with few spots - and does that cause a temperature?? It's doingt he rounds here so am keeping an open mind about that too!

castlesintheair · 14/03/2007 15:58

LFM, DS (5) had loads of spots and a temperature, DD1 (3) had fewer spots and no temperature just a runny bottom for a week, DD2 (then 6 weeks) had about 5 spots and no other symptoms. My friends DD (4 months) has it at the moment: loads of spots but no other apparent symptoms. Hope you are lucky - maybe it's better the LOs get it now as they seem to suffer less with it and will have immunity.
Thanks for the tip about WD40, will give it a go.

Cocobabe · 14/03/2007 17:10

Hiya everyone , may I join your club pls ? My ds was born on 7/12 - 11 days early , a brother for my 3.5 dd . Does anyone's bub likes to suck his/her thumb alot ? is this normal or a sign of hunger ?!

Calmriver · 14/03/2007 17:39

welcome coco babe

I suppose its a sign of hunger, but definately normal for now though...I suppose they have found something to 'play' with!?

satinshoes · 14/03/2007 17:43

welcome coco

my dd found her thumb last week. loves it and now does it in her sleep - a definite comforter. wont take a dummy though.

Cocobabe · 14/03/2007 17:54

thanks guys , i think y cld be right ,sounds more of a comforter to him as he does it a nights too ..as long hes happy !

margo1974 · 14/03/2007 18:49

Hello Coco.

My LO finds her thumb and then loses it!

Cocobabe · 14/03/2007 19:19

Lol ! Mine does the same , their faces are funny to watch when they look at their hands and figuring out how to bring his thumb back to his mouth ! ...

Elibean · 14/03/2007 19:55

Welcome Coco dd will suck her thumb, or fingers, or entire fist when either tired or hungry. Dummies she'll only take when in pain/windy or overtired, then spits it out like a guided missile

Satin, sorry to hear dd unwell...and LFM, ditto your dd. Hope its a mild chicken pox and nothing nasty. Tried very hard to get dd exposed to the pox last summer/autumn (and her BF had very very few spots, btw) but nothing doing: not a pox in sight.

Finally made it to babyclinic to get dd2 weighed, got overheard by my (nice, and unpatronizing - I'm lucky!) HV saying she was 3 months old and she quietly pointed out its nearer 4 . And a hefty 13lbs 6oz, 3-6 month clothes getting tight . Anyway, can now figure out how to dose her appropriately with ranitidine and not risk NHS wrath

Elibean · 14/03/2007 19:57

Oooo Castles, teeth Are you still BFing?

Good luck with the putty.

Does anyone know what chewing her gums/lips means? She does it after feeds not just before, so not hunger...DH convinced she's after solids!

Elibean · 14/03/2007 19:57

Thanks, Margo

LowFatMilkshake · 14/03/2007 20:09

I have a suspicion (sp) that it is CP, as DD had a runny bottom last week (runny for her, normall it's like rabbit pooh) and has been a bit flushed, anly a couple of spots round her bottom.

DS - in keeping with his 'greedy boy' nature has not found a finger or a thumb...but rather his whole fist, which he tries to cram in his mouth!

Feeding is going really well with 1 petie filous a day, it's all gobbled up and if not quick enough he wimpers for more. Got some Farleys cereal (yoghurt and berry) for him to try soon.

I dont know if it's coincidence but since he's started on the fromage frais his napping has improved and so to has his temperament. He is much more happy to sit in his chair and watch the world go by. This all serves my conscience that he was ready for this and I am not a bad mum for introducing food at 13 weeks

Indith · 15/03/2007 07:07

Not entirely sure how today will be survived. Ds got worse yesterday so I took him to a cafe to escape the screaming and true to form he fell asleep on me so I stayed a good 2 hours. Hoped he would sleep it off but when he woke for his feed at 10.30 was so bad could hardly feed. Been up since 3 pretty much now! He just brought up any milk he had taken which has at least cleared his throat so I have a happy baby til it clogs up again but he is far too awake! Breathing still sounds like a cross between a jet taking off and a cat in full pur. Can't remember what time dr appointment is today must call them at 9. In other news dp is away and I feel very periody. Given that I've always been a collapse and can't function sort of person at that time of the month this could be a vry bad combination. Where is my red dwarf dvd i can fit a few episodes in before the drs opens!

LowFatMilkshake · 15/03/2007 08:38

Hi Indith - hope your GP can give DS something.

I think we have got the pox! DS has a single spot trying to take over a nipple and both DC's have a temperature. Going to GP's myself today to see if DS has improved with AB's.

Bought him the next step up teets yesterday, but will not be using them just yet, as I tried with this monings bottle - which he downed in 5 minutes (normal is 10 at the least - for 7fl oz) and after a few minutes crying because he had wind, he caught his breath again and started to go blue again. A bit of back and front banging and general throwing him around like a rag doll from back to front bought shocked him into calming and breathing again. But I think we'll be staying on the original teets for a long time to come yet.

He's now sat in his chair chuntering as he does before going off to sleep, but I can hear a present brewing Gonna leave for GP's soon so better go sort it!

margo1974 · 15/03/2007 11:52

Milkshake - could you have any more health disasters in your household?

God - I really feel for you

hope they get better soon

LowFatMilkshake · 15/03/2007 15:43

Thanks Margo - it's not too bad, we've actually gone for about 10 days without any problems, but I guess I dont write about the normal stuff. And compared to lots of people what we go through are just minor teething problems - or are those yet to come

DS has not slept at all today and was practically thrown at DH the minute he got through the door, either that or I was about to auction him on e-bay he had been screaming for over an hour. Daddy comes home and the little monkey becomes a little angel again!

Daddy has just gone for a sleep and he's already started to whinge again - I think he senses my dread at being let at his mercy!

GP does not think it's CP - says he should have more than 1 spot

Calmriver · 15/03/2007 17:40

Come on girls, calling a meet-up in Kingston for first week of April if you're interested!????

SachaF · 15/03/2007 18:10

DS was napping well, 45 mins in morning, 2 hrs at lunchtime and 45 mins in afternoon. Now is doing 45 mins in cot in morning (used to be in pram or sofa, now trying to get him used to naps in cot), then 45 mins at lunchtime, fuss for 30 mins (or cry if not picked up) then another 45 mins if I'm lucky, (won't go for 2nd 45 mins in cot) and then sometimes 10 mins in afternoon, today 45 mins (as lunchtime nap didn't work). Even walking him in the pram doesn't guarantee that he will have his 2hr nap anymore, which is a shame as he gets quite ratty without proper naps.
So no more lunchtime naps for me unless dh is off work and can resettle him for the lunchtime nap.
Night time nappies - I use the Ellas house bumhuggers with a ME wrap - the wrap is not tight around his legs so I have to be careful it covers the nappy properly as the fleece/hemp mix wicks all the noisture away from his botttom to the outside - but he wears it from 11pm to 8am and has a dry bum

LowFatMilkshake · 15/03/2007 20:33

DS has had a total of three 20 min naps all day - woke up at 4.20 unsettled till 6.00am, slept till 7am, so he's really tired - probably overtired as DH and I have just spent an hour trying to settle him, and hes still fidgety - am not looking foprward to tonight!

Elibean · 15/03/2007 22:17

Calm, glad you're pinning us down but because we're going away that week! Though tbh, I always get lost in the Kingston one way system, still haven't got to know it in all my years in SW London...

dd naps at least 4 times per day, and did actually do a long one again today - nice, except I wasn't expecting it and had dd1's friend and her Mum over anyway, so made no use of it whatsoever. Especially annoying as am knackered by third night in a row of very windy baby who needs settling every hour or two...happens every time she has a cold.

Can't keep up with her feed demands anymore..am expressing at least four times a day, producing almost a litre of the stuff daily, but dd seems to be getting hungrier and hungrier this week So its at least one formula feed per day now, the beginning of the end!

accessorizewithbabysick · 15/03/2007 22:52

Eli, I still don't know how you've managed to express so many times a day for so long, no wonder you can't keep up anymore. I manage a paltry 4oz a day and that's with my new medela mini-electric (god do I feel like a milking machine with that thing). Would a bottle of formula a day necessarily be the end of bf anyway, lots of people manage mixed feeding as a more permanent solution?
Sacha, I wimped out again on the night reusable. I put a fluffle on him, double boosted with a tots fleece wrap. But the wrap just didn't seem tight enough round the legs so I took the whole thing off again. I just didn't want to get woken at 2, quite frankly.

satinshoes · 16/03/2007 07:46

sounds like lots of unsettled babies!

my DD still has s stinking cold. i am covered in snot
