I'm the lightest I've been in some years too (well done ss!) but unfortunately the huge stomach somewhat ruins the look. And the enormous jugs in nursing bras. Hey ho. I'm so exhausted at the end of every day I really couldn't give a toss. I stick a nice accessory on every day like a scarf or hair slide & hope people focus on that and not the wobbly bits. Would love to start running, but cannot see when on earth to do it. DS2 feeds like a maniac in the mornings, goes to bed at 8.30 after a marathon feed & the rest of the time I've got ds1 to contend with.

Castles, it occurred to me last night (after a major dizzy spell) that hormones might be responsible as I got them well before I was pg with ds2 & they were about 5 days before I got my period. And elibean made a comment about oestregen (sp?) levels whilst breastfeeding. Do you think this might have something to do with it? I'm nowhere near as bad as you, but it's getting worse, I'm semi-conscious whilst having them and worried I may drop ds2 or crash the car.

castlesintheair · 09/03/2007 18:00

Gosh, AQ, be careful! I did faint at the wheel of my car remember. I still don't have a clue what is causing these dizzy spells. My GP hasn't come up with anything and I've been tested for everything again. It could well be hormones. I was thinking maybe I need to go on the pill/coil. I really hate all that business though but I have got a period today 2 weeks after my last one. I'd forgotten I get them every 2/3 weeks. I think I will get some Agnus Castus (balances hormones allegedly) and see how that goes. Are you taking Spatone? That helps me but I've run out at the moment. Take care.

castlesintheair · 09/03/2007 18:03

All you gastric reflux mums, just back from the GP who upped DD2's dosage to 1ml ranitadine 3 x a day & one sachet gaviscon per feed. I've been giving her 1.3mls ranitadine & TWO sachets of gaviscon off my own back so I'm basically buggered now I was too ashamed to admit this to the GP. Do you think I could have been od'ing her and that's why she's cranky? She weighs 13.5lbs (6.05kg) btw and is 14 weeks. Any advice welcome!

accessorizewithbabysick · 09/03/2007 18:08

yup, have been trying to drive as little as poss this week, lucky the weather is good. What about a progesterone-only pill, that might help? I'm going to do some research on it this weekend, I read a book which discussed this all in relation to pnd when I was pg, I'll look it out again. You take care too!

Indith · 09/03/2007 18:50

very true sacha h does demand his mummy but only after around 3/4am. I think it depends on how he sleeps, fewer wakings means less demands for mummy so if yours sleeps longer periods than mine then you might have more luck! Not that I mind really, I'm a bit of a co sleeping fan and to b hoest I'd have him in earlir if dp would let me but it is wonderful to have the first part of the night to ourselves.

Elibean · 09/03/2007 19:07

Castles, at your GP visit - I think I['m setting myself up for the same kind of thing. If you're worried about dosages, just look 'em up on the net: I can't remember off hand, but think 1ml 3x day was top dosage for a baby of just under 12lbs (what Mischa was last hospital visit) so imagine Athina is fine on a bit more? Lots of sites about it, which is probably more or less what the GP refers to!

Sacha, my dd1 didnt' even notice the move into her room...it was the same cot, and mobile, so the rest didnt' matter. I just went to her when she got unsettled, same as in our room, and it was me who cried that night not her

Weight...oh lor...I'm about 2lbs more than pre-pregnancy, which is fine given that my boobs are twice their normal size, but wobbly bits have definitely increased. I do'nt want to lose weight (or I'd stop eating my daily choc cake ) but I DO want to firm up, preferably without running Pilates, maybe?? Swimming? One day I'll have time again...

SS, well done on the jeans!

Elibean · 09/03/2007 19:08

AQ, agree, do be careful in the car...don't think oestrogen loss accounts for fainting, just lower energy, crankiness, memory loss, dry skin/hair, etc. Lovely, eh. Take care you

Elibean · 09/03/2007 19:09

Hi Lucy [waving] glad all well, bar the scar - ouch!

SachaF · 09/03/2007 20:00

Well ds is asleep in his own room but he has always slept well 7.15 - 10pm. It will be the middle of the night bit that is telling!

OonaghBhuna · 09/03/2007 21:39

Hello havent posted in a while, DD1 and Dd2 have been unwell with colds etc. DD2 has been constipated and did her first poo in a week tonight, she was in soooo much pain poor thing. We got six hours sleep last night, which was fantastic, although Dd1 awoke for the day at 6.30 so I couldnt go back to sleep for half an hour!!!!
I rejoined my yoga class this week which was great to feel part of the real world again. For anyone who is stressed or feeling low I would really recommend it apart from the physical benefits it is very relaxing.I took up yoga a few years ago becuase I was so stressed and have been hooked ever since. Its also great for the c/s overhang I am still huge but my belly is getting tighter.

LowFatMilkshake · 10/03/2007 09:21

Hello all, I am finally geting things under control so thought I would pop in. I had a chicken pox question to ask as well.

Oongha - DS gets constipated because of the milk he is on, HV said to add .5fl oz of prune juice to 3.5fl oz of cooled boiled water. He loves the taste and it realy sorted his tummy out. He now has this every day, goes as regular as clockwork - right about ....oooh now. And has been so much happier since.

The AB's are working on him to

I hope you are all well, and I'll catch up with you later.

Hi Ladies
Well I finally bit the bullet and went to the gp. Back on Ad's was on them for 18m after dd4 was born. Same ones again as they worked well last time.
Dh is pleased that I finally went, have been putting it off for a few weeks

Ds1 is on 1ml x 3 of ranitidine and 2 sachets of gaviscon per feed but the gaviscon isn't always given every feed usually more like every other feed coz he still feeds every 2-3hrs

I went out last night!!!!!!!!! Got home at midnight and ds1 had had a huge chocking fit with the bottle so dh was a bit flustered but in the great scheme of things he did pretty well as we have 4 other kids too. It was so good to get out though.
Paid for it in the night though, ds1 was up 3 times!!!!

I am back down to pre preg weight but have a horrible c section shelf

castlesintheair · 10/03/2007 12:13

Hi Magnolia, and for you about ADs IYKWIM. Hope it gets better for you. Can I be nosey and ask which ones you are on? I'm a borderline case for ADs at the moment and being reviewed in a month.

magnolia1 · 10/03/2007 13:36

Fluoxetine, took a while to work last time and I felt worse for a few day but after 2-3 weeks was feeling much better.

jabberwocky · 10/03/2007 20:31

Hi all, I haven't been on in days and am having MN withdrawals. I haven't been able to catch up yet, but I saw that Margo asked about the co-sleeper we used. It's this one .

Will try to read more of the thread now

satinshoes · 10/03/2007 20:39

hi all,

had a great day as dd1 had her birthday party. all went well

dd2 slept through the whole night last night - 10.00 until 8.30 am this morning. cant quite believe it.

i'm a bit worried as she went to sleep at 6pm tonight and she's still asleep. i've been faffing for the last 30 mins thinking do i wake her or let her sleep. dont want her waking at 4am ready for the day ahead but dont want to disrupt a decent sleep either....

aargh.

margo1974 · 10/03/2007 21:32

Jabber, I like that one - I had seen the fabric ones before but not the wooden one. I have a bedside cot but that one seems as though it's a bit smaller (and better for our house)
I have found it so handy to have a bedside cot, it means I am co-sleeping but don't run the risk of rolling on to her

jabberwocky · 10/03/2007 23:01

Hey margo, yes we really like it. We used it with ds1 as well.

Have a c-setion shelf too I told dh in all seriousness the other day that once I got in a bit better shape I was going to check into some micr-liposuction In the meantime I have ordered a corset which came in the other day but I haven't had time to try it on! It's really fab looking tho, antique gold with black trim.

Kat, yes deduct how many weeks early your ds was from all the milestones and then it makes more sense

Indith · 11/03/2007 11:54

Somthing is bothering ds today. Hmmmm
as usual at around 3.30 this morning he wouldn't settle so I took him to bed where he howled until he fell asleep cuddled up tightly. This morning he has been feeding, howling, ighting the breast, howling or asleep on me.

He has also taken to howling when h is put in his cot. The instant his bum hits the matress he is off, thankfully h doesn't take long to soothe and we seem to be making progress with the evening stint reaching 5 hours at times (if only he would do it at night!), last night after the evening stint we had 2 then 3 then another 3 after the crying stopped.

I would really like to move and brush my hair and teeth but I don't want to set him off again (currently asleep on my chest. May do it anyway, need to go to Waitrose as I've been slightly dim and managed to run out of stuff on a sunday when market is closed!

satinshoes · 11/03/2007 16:23

indith me too. dd2 very unsettled today. she's gone from pooing a couple of times a day to once every two days so i'm wondering if that might be it..

Indith · 11/03/2007 16:55

I would blame that had it not been for the explosions we had this morning after not going for 24 hours followed by the many many poos we've had today.....

babypowder · 11/03/2007 17:38

Indith and Satin, me too! DD2 will not settle at all and just wants to feed, and feed, and feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!

Indith · 11/03/2007 17:55

grouchy babies r us

Thankfully he seemed to sleep it off this morning and spent the afternoon happily watching the rugby with his daddy while mummy had a bath

bathtime now! (and given that he has dozed off again I don't think he will be awake for long afterwards)

satinshoes · 11/03/2007 18:05

we've had a bit of cheer (thankfully as inlaws were here) interspersed with grumpiness. She just seems knackered tbh but is catnapping rather than having her normal 40-50 mins. Just gone down again....

Indith · 11/03/2007 19:01

We had similar problem with ds when he was shattered (using your other thread too). He dosn't do naps anyway which can be an issue we have to take him for long walks to make him sleep in the day! But when he is overtired he fights sleep and fusses. Hopefully once she goes off properly she will have a good night but it took us a couple of days for him to catch up on his sleep a bit.
