We'll use this one! The old one keeps crashing on me, not sure why. I'll try and link.....

lucy5 · 23/01/2007 22:02

Thankyou, it's always me and you, bloody trouble makers! How are you?

satinshoes · 24/01/2007 13:06

hi guys....hope you're all ok.

DD slept 12-7 last night with just a 40 min wake in the middle so I'm quite pleased.

Its snowy here so I've put her in a snowman outfit someone bought her for Christmas - very sweet

Olihan · 24/01/2007 13:12

Sorry, wasn't ignoring you last night, ds2 is having a nightmare feeding at the mo, seems to want to be attached 24/7 with no more than a 20 minute break between sessions - by 10pm yesterday I'd had enough and left him to scream with dh! Unfortunately had to leave the laptop with him too!

Not sure why my laptop hates the old thread so much, but it keeps shutting it down for no reason, usually as I'm halfway through a post. Managed to get on to it and post a link this morning so they should find us......!

jabberwocky · 24/01/2007 13:23

Hi guys, ds2 was doing a lot of cluster feeding the past two weeks so I can totally sympathize.

Two 3 hour stretches last night. I can function on that at least. Ds1 was 8 months old before he went from 2 to 3

magnolia1 · 24/01/2007 14:09

Satinshoes at 12-7 Ben still only going 2-3 hours and doesn't actually go down until 12pm the up at 2.30-3am feeds for ages so not back to bed till 3.30-4am and back up at 6am

His antibiotics for infected toenail are doin the trick though so he seems happier in the day.
Had his injections yesterday and now has a snuffly nose and temperature so Calpol is to hand but that and the antibiotics ad the gaviscon are really hard to syringe into him all day
He did smile though so it makes it worth while.

Eli, Hope Mishca is doing ok xxxxx

bebespain · 24/01/2007 15:12

Hi everyone
Not been on much lately as Félix has also been having nightmare feeding - crying, refusing breast making all sorts of strange noises it's been freaking me out...oh, and sleeping...forget that some days he goes for hours literally without bothering. And there was me thinking eat, sleep, eat, sleep....

margo1974 · 24/01/2007 15:15

magnolia1 - what caused lo's toenail infection?

I am worried that my dds toenails will become infected from ingrowth due to sunken nailbeds

jabberwocky · 24/01/2007 15:20

Oh, meant to add for Baileys - I make up my special chest rub when ds1 has a cold. It's mainly olive oil with lavender, tea tree and eucalyptus oil added in, just a few drops of each. I also add eucalyptus oil to the humidifier in that little well at the top. Do you have a warm air humidifier, btw?

Elibean · 24/01/2007 16:45

Hi all, well linked Oli

Mischa is coming home tonight, yeay! Was beginning to feel torn in two (not to mention knackered: 2-3 hour sleeps are going to feel like a luxury after last night) staying at hospital again. She's RSV negative this time, so its almost certainly just a cold - and although the poor little thing has had three tubes stuck up her nose at various times (samples, and laryngoscope) the good news is that ENT saw her today instead of mid-Feb and confirmed the laryngomalacia (floppy larynx) SO she is being given the Ranitidine and Domeridone that I begged the GPs for last week

Apparently, reflux is so common in these babes that they give the drugs automatically, and it can help their breathing as well as lessen/stop the pain of reflux.

Milkshake, hope you got the Gaviscon - that did help a bit too, certainly stopped the vomiting though watch out for constipation!

Magnolia and bebespain, I'm sorry re various ailments...makes me want to come and cuddle your babies and give you a break (knowing how it feels to want one!). xxx

Calmriver · 24/01/2007 16:56

Amberli had her jabs y'day and poor thing suffered really badly with a sore leg...screamed for hours! shes still under weight for calpol, but i gave her 1ml anyway! it knocked her out!!!how are your bubs and jabs going???

Calmriver · 24/01/2007 17:02

can you believe there is already a due in OCTober antenatal thread!...its just weird!

Calmriver · 24/01/2007 17:03

who is ready for meeting up??? those of you who are near enough to Kingston????

HayleyWayley · 24/01/2007 20:15

hi ya, im rather worried whether my baby (5 wks) can see!
he never really focuses at me and he doesnt seem to respond to the lights on his play gym.......yet b4 i thought he could but lately it looksl ike hes looking right thru me
what age are they meant to be able to focus on ur face?

babypowder · 24/01/2007 20:42

DD1 (who is 4.6) amazed everyone at nursery today by holding one of the baby dolls up to her chest and announcing that the baby was hungry and needed to 'go on the breast'. Oh yay.
This is added to her referring to 'Mummy Laid An Egg', which we used to help explain the whole baby thing (and to shut her up about the whole subject) No doubt the nursery teachers think we're crazy liberals.

jabberwocky · 24/01/2007 21:12

Hayley, your dr. can check certain eye reflexes when you go in next and there are other tests that can be done if need be. However, ds2 didn't really seem to be interested in focusing until just recently. He also doesn't like the lights on his swing so I don't turn those on anymore. I figured it might be overwhelming to him at this point and we may use them later. 6 weeks, to me anyway, seems to be a real "wake up" point for babies.

lucy5 · 24/01/2007 21:16

Hello, it's good to be able to read all your posts again.

Haley my ds is eight weeks and has only just started to make eye contact and still looks over my shoulder alot. He has nearly got the hang of focusing but still goes gozzy-eyed every now and again. It's terrible I can't remember what dd did!

Eli hope all is well with Mischa

OP posts:
castlesintheair · 24/01/2007 21:24

HayleyWayley, I was thinking the same about my DD2 at 5 weeks. I described it as "looking through me" to DH! She's 8 weeks now and can definitely see. She's really smiling back & cooing, staring deeply into my eyes. For some reason I thought my other 2 were like this at 4 weeks but I was probably wrong. Please don't worry!

Eli, Hooray! So pleased Mischa is ok and fab news about the drugs Bring it on! Athina is such a happy little bunny since she started ranitidine ... apart from chicken pox & what seems to be a cold now. You know I'm just up the road if you ever need a hand. Took me 4 minutes to get home from your manor on Saturday night!!

Calmriver, do you live in Kingston? I'm in Richmond! Love to meet up. Should I wait until after the facelift though, wouldn't want to scare anyone

DD2 won't get her jabs for another 2 weeks as she's had the pox and HV wants her to rebuild her immune system. Quite pleased really.

weirdbird · 24/01/2007 22:47

and I am just down the road in Staines, though as Hannah is only just 3 weeks today I am not quite up to going out for a meet up yet.

Hannah is going great guns with her weight 9.9 at birth and is now 11.2, but is still throwing up despite being put on Gaviscon by the GP, just hope the referral to Paed comes through quickly!!

My infected uterus hasn't cleared up with antibiotics so am now going for a scan on Monday to see if there was any placenta left behind Joy!

It will mean a D&C if they find anything, but at least that will be the end of it....

weirdbird · 25/01/2007 14:16

Where is everyone??, DD2 has actually fallen asleep after her feed and theres no one posting!

I should really do some housework.....

Indith · 25/01/2007 15:06

And Ds is asleep after his feed (which was rudly interrupted by the mother of all poos and resulting dunk in the bath- don't you just love them!) and I I should be doing some uni work but playing on MN and eating all the chocolate people have bought us since Ds was born is far more fun! (shame I've finishd the mint stuff though, you can never have too much plain mint chocolate)

satinshoes · 25/01/2007 15:15

hi guys. lousy night last night as dd was up for 3 hours from 1.30 am . she's been good today though. just fell asleep during feed and i've put her down only to hear hiccups coming from the moses basket so think they wake her up

got appt for her immunisations today. seems very mean doesnt it.

how are you all?

HayleyWayley · 25/01/2007 15:57

thanks i guess im worrying over nothing, actually he smiled at me today so he must be able to see
reaaly chuffed now, amyne some days he wants to look at me n some days he dont LOL

margo1974 · 25/01/2007 19:49

Is anyone getting a BCG for their LO? DD2 is having hers on Monday, because we are registered with a Lewisham Surgery.

DD1 had hers when she was about 4 months and took ages to heal, went full of pus. Yuk!

I know that if I wait for them to be old enough (13yrs) they will probably avoid having it done (like I did)

Indith · 25/01/2007 19:54

Don't think we are offered BCG here but seems sensible to do it. I think it a bit odd that the UK waits so long to do it as it is more effective when done younger, I seems to remmbr that you have to have it done before school age in France.
