Ooh, didn't realise I was on the home page, spina! Good luck with the rental/back off the house thing. We're even thinking about moving this year as I don't know if I can face the whole creating a kitchen/diner thing but we've got to do something as I'm not facing a kitchen size of a closet with 2 toddlers!
Why don't you get a nappy lady to come and show you some, that might save you some work?

accessorizewithbabysick · 22/02/2007 15:47

my dp keen on choosing wraps, seems less keen on putting them on ds2!

Debbsyandson · 22/02/2007 15:55

Spina ds had spots like this hv said it could be the cotton wool i was using so i cahnaged to baby sponge whwn topping and tailing and it went and hasnt come back since.

spina · 22/02/2007 16:03

interesting about the cotton wool. I'm using that to wash his face as I thought that was more hygenic than using his sponge.

I know I'm obviously mad or on some very stong hallucnagenic(sp?) drugs but the whole house thing isn't too bad! We've bought a SMEG 50s style fridge and as long as I keep focusing on that I manage to block out the lunacy that we're going through.

weirdbird · 22/02/2007 16:03

Spina - DD2 is exactly the same, they all come up when she screams as well...

Debbsyandson · 22/02/2007 16:07

she told me its cos cotton wool is bleached and it could be that reacting with his skin, worked for me so give it a try.

Olihan · 22/02/2007 16:22

Spina & WB, ds2 is the same, it fades when he's cool but goes really red and angry when he's hot, crying or feeding. He's also got cradle cap in his eyebrow so he's not too pretty at the moment!

Hi debbsy, sorry, forgot that earlier!

Olihan · 22/02/2007 16:24

drat, meant to say I'm not using anything on it at the moment because it seems to be worse and drier after his bath so unless it's bath night, he doesn't get a face wash. Wonder what's causing his then?

castlesintheair · 22/02/2007 16:36

DD2 was a bit spotty (wouldn't call it full-blown acne ) so I started using aqueous cream and it's cleared up. I think it was a case of dry skin. I only use water to clean her face - every night when she has a bath.

I've been on here so much today - on and off of course - it's been my sanity saver during half term. My 2 eldest are having a wrestling match over DD2's rubber ring thingy, she hasn't even been in it yet

Spina, you do sound very chilled. But moving now has to be better than when heavily pg? IMO anyway. I can't believe I did that!!

satinshoes · 22/02/2007 17:05

DD2 has spots and cradlecap too. DD1 was the same and I was told then that it was hormones. DD2s is just starting to clear now after about 4 weeks.

Elibean · 22/02/2007 17:09

Spina, meant to say earlier am most impressed yo'ure getting on here at all, given the house thing. And reusables too! Maybe we should get a SMEG if it can do the chilled thing for you, you never know...might do it for me.... Good luck next week, hope it all goes smoothly.

I only use water on dd's face, she has slightly dry skin...and yup, a cradlecap eyebrow here too. I put almond oil on it after her bath, and its not too bad - hardly shows till about midday the next day.

Anyone else noticed how cradle cap smells yucky?

Elibean · 22/02/2007 17:10

Castles and Magnolia, can you tell me how much your LOs weigh? Just wondering, re Ranitidine doses...have upped M's today, but am dithering.

You've probably posted weights recently, sorry if so - am too sleepy/rushed to check back.

weirdbird · 22/02/2007 18:45

Eli - DD2 is 13lbs and is on 1ml

LowFatMilkshake · 22/02/2007 20:05

Hi Al, WOW busy day on here today!

Another question re spots. DS has one large sort of milky pimple spot on his chin. It;s been there fore weeks. And a raised lasrge pore on his nose - anyone else got this Other than that his milk spots went down quite quickly!

Interesting ont he coton wool front. SIL got me some organic stuff when DS was born but I never appreciated it until I just read you post Debsy!

Saw GP and was given gaviscon, added one sachet to a 6oz feed and not a single drop of milk has come back . DD is not going to forget this morning easily though

magnolia1 · 22/02/2007 22:33

Eli, ds1 was 11lb last weighing.

Not sure if its working though he has been really fretful feeding today and I have the most sore nipple At 12 weeks I thought sore nipple days were over but it seems his latch is pretty bad on one side still. Going to b/f counseller on Monday for advice.

Dh has had flu and I have felt like a single parent with 5 kids

Cranial osteopath tomorrow, lets hope he can work miracles

Olihan · 22/02/2007 22:43

ooh, first night without cluster feeding! Is this the start of having my evenings back or do we think he's lulling me into a false sense of security?!

Castles, might try aqueous cream then, it definitely isn't clearing up on its own.

LFM, hope the gaviscon keeps working so well.

OonaghBhuna · 22/02/2007 22:46

I am just about to go to bed....For the first time in eight weeks my dd2 has been asleep since 9pm I cant believe it. She also slept this afternoon and the three of us went to the park. DD1 had a great time and when we came back we were able to have a cuddle and I even managed a cup of tea!!! It was lovely to have some uninterupted quality time with dd1 who has been lacking in attention from me but getting loads from DH.
I dont know whether this is any help for babies with cradle cap but with dd1 I used to apply olive oil to the affected areas and this really helped to clear it, I would apply it frequently. Also dd1 had dry skin and I used diprobase like a soap when she had a bath and this also really helped. I use Infacare to bathe dd2.
dd2 gets her first injection tomorrow and then in the afternoon she is getting her hip scanned as she had a clicky hip at birth. So I hope today isnt the calm before the storm ......OMG

Elibean · 23/02/2007 08:18

Oonagh, good luck today - dd2 had scan on wed as was transverse at birth, was borderline on one side. Prob fine but has to have xray 6 months to be sure. Hurrah on 9pm!

Thanks WB and Magnolia. Makes me feel fine about dd's increase, though tbh also not so enthusiastic about the effect. I'm sure it does make a difference, but the blissful night's once-only-interrupted sleep wasn't replayed last night with same dose, and dd had lots of windy type pain all evening

She's 13 weeks today...suppose 'colic stopping at 12 weeks' is a bit like 'morning sickness stopping at 12 weeks'.

Ha

Elibean · 23/02/2007 08:20

LFM, so glad you got something - Gaviscon stopped the throwing up for us, then later on we needed other meds for pain. Also, am sure you were told this, but just in case - Gaviscon can constipate them, so worth keeping an eye out and planning a counterattack of whatever you use (I used very very very diluted fresh prune juice for dd1).

satinshoes · 23/02/2007 09:07

hello everyone, I'm v pleased as coped with both dds on my own last night.

dd2 fell asleep in my arms at 9pm. i took her up at 10pm and she woke the minute i put her in the moses basket. 20min feed then i put her in her basket and she chatted for 10 mins then went to sleep! (first time without being held.rocked etc). she woke at 2.00 and had a 15 min feed and i put her back in the basket and she fell asleep on her own again. same at 5.45. i cant quite believe it!!!!

So, now i've decided her bedtime should be 9pm and not 11pm as we keep doing. And i'm going to leave her to settle herself more. Maybe i'll even get brave and put the basket in her room

Now, tomorrow i may not have this confidence so if i have a bad night tonight, please remind me she CAN do it....

you've made me realise i must get her weighed. havent done it since 3 weeks , although i have digitial scales so prefer to do it myself than have the hv do it. far less stressful

Debbsyandson · 23/02/2007 09:12

oonagh good luck with the scan

satinshoes · 23/02/2007 09:50

oonagh, my DD1 had clicky hips which went away by the time of the next check so hope that's what happens with you.

Debbsyandson · 23/02/2007 09:56

i was doing that too satin keeping ds up later so he slept through didnt work.So now we have a routine bath 8pm sleepsiut on grobag on last feed a story (yes i know hes only 9 weeks but i like it ) lol rock him to sleep and he went till quarter past 6 this morn fab feel like a new woman.

Gloria42 · 23/02/2007 10:54

Glad everyone seems to be turning corners on sleep, my DS sleeps well after last feed (which is formula from DP due to empty boobs caused by evening cluster feeding )) but he'll only settle in our arms so far. DP just can't leave him to settle alone. I try during the day when am alone with him but he undoes all the good work at night.

Can I ask what you are all doing with the clothes your LOs are growing out of? We got so many presents, DS could wear different outfit each day. I refuse to throw them away and wondered if anyone knew of an organisation that would take them. Obviously I can take them to local charity shop but is there one specific to babies?

LowFatMilkshake · 23/02/2007 11:51

Morning all.

Eli - Thanks for the tip. DS is quite good at taking water, but just in case I will get some prune juice (used this for DD) shame it comes in such huge bottles!

Magnolia - you have my admiration, keep going! Does your DH have a real cold or a 'man cold'?

DS was weighed today and was 13lb 11oz, which is 2oz lighter than he went in at a fortnigt ago tomorrow! HV says this is very good progress considering he had a gastric bug!
