Hopefully this works...

So we can keep in touch and pass on words of wisdom!

Perhaps someone clever could link to the stats?

Primary Annie is so cute!

Sock sleep deprivation is awful but it doesn't last forever. Glad you got to have a little nap.

I didn't pass Rose to DH in the night - but I didn't need to really. She woke to feed and promptly fell asleep again. We are bed sharing though after being ready for a divorce lighthearted with our firstborn. I'm only using a thin blanket for myself, which I share with Rose. She stays on the edge of the bed where her crib is joined on.

primary she is gorgeous! Love the wee outfit.

Might be of use for those of us struggling with night times? I'm going to start following these tips asap!

Have you tried white noise app sock? Sound sleeper is brill my DD loves the womb noise we have it on all night!!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 02/08/2016 21:05

Hi all. I have some catching up to do but just to let you know isabelle rose was born last thursday on my edd. My home birth plans went out of the window when I went in for my third episode of reduced movement and it turned out it wasn't my imagination but my fluid levels had dropped. I was given the pessary at 12:30 am and spent the rest of the night in painful denial I was in labour until I was screaming out for pain relief and my partner at 7am. I then felt my cervix ripen and my waters went pop. They checked me then and I was 7cm. They then realised I was genuinely moving along and there was a big rush to get me to delivery. Meanwhile my partner was dropping our son at nursery and making his way over. The hospital called and updated him and he arrived at 7:50. Izzi arrived at 8:15. A total time of 45 minutes from waters breaking. My notes say I went from 1cm to 10 in 10 minutes. That is why it hurt like nothing I have experienced before and that is the same place I am feeling pain now almost a week later! All my other post partum symptoms seem to be getting under control, even the bleeding. Bit ouch my pelvis hurts.

Anyway my beautiful girl weighed in at 8lbs 5oz and is so very different from my son. For example she is so very much more efficient at bfing than he was (10 mins instead of 45) and she doesn't wake for feeding more than twice during the night - yet. She has also seemed to pick up the idea of self settling quite quickly. And she is super cuddly. I am very much in love.

Ds is also amazing and has taken to his little sister and is very caring.

Loopy your dilation sounds similar to me! They were all ready to send me home when I arrived, an hour later I was pushing - midwives were in shock! That photo is bloody gorgeous!

Thanks everyone, she's so big now! Still not in 0-3 months yet though at over 9lbs... I think baby clothing manufacturers have lost it. Sainsburys and primark come up really small but m&s and tesco stuff is huge!

Hi everyone, popping in here for the first time. My DD was born on Saturday and last night was our first night at home. How does anyone sleep with their baby in the same room as them?! Every time she made a noise, DH and I were immediately awake, even though DD only actually woke up two times before we were up for the day. Hmm

Bluebell20 · 03/08/2016 00:48

Awh going, lovely pic, and what a story!

Welcome kate!

sock I'm so glad that you went for help from your mum in the end. I bet she was thrilled to lend a hand.

i saw the GP again today about my armpit lump. She has taken bloods to check for inflammation and has referred me to the breast clinic to investigate further. She said normally she would monitor it a bit longer but in light of my family history and the fact I have a brand new baby she didn't want to mess around waiting - for which I am profoundly grateful. Ironically, the more seriously I get taken by a doctor, the less anxious I feel. I suppose because I know that everything that can be done is being done - it's out of my hands now. The GP was fantastic - she also spent time talking about my anxiety and suggesting ways of managing it. She thought I should see maternity leave as my chance to really get on top of it - go for some therapy, get into mindfulness. Really positive.

I also saw a midwife and asked about how long I can leave Ruben without feeding - she said six hours. So I went to bed at 8.30pm and he slept through till nearly midnight - bliss! She also weighed him and he's now 9lbs 7oz - an 8oz gain since the last weigh, which is really reassuring from s breastfeeding point of view - also explains why he's been a milk leech the past few days.

Bluebell20 · 03/08/2016 00:55

Sock, we're still using cotton wool for everything - it drives me bananas because we end up with stringy bits of cotton wool all over his little balls! I'm thinking of changing to our washable wipes this week.

Cheery I shall look into laid back feeding, thank you. It's the left boob which is the issue for sure - he's just fed off it now and it feels like he's been chewing it.

Cookies yikes - how did the dentist go?

I've just realised I've put Ruben down after a feed without winding him. Damn it. Not sure whether to pick him up again now...

socktastic · 03/08/2016 01:57

adam so rarely actually burps that I put him down often unwinded!

Thank you for all the words of support yesterday. I am lucky in that my mum is very helpful. I don't want to take advantage though or ask too much. She needs time to do her own stuff and I'm there every night for dinner as it is!

I'm only using cotton wool on the face now but even then I find I'm picking bits off him all day! I bought a box of the water wipes for nappy changes. They're crap. They all stick together and come out in one long bunch of wipes.

Just waiting on a certain little sir dropping off after his feed now then I can get back to bed! He's not so keen.

beckslovestimmy · 03/08/2016 04:46

If it's any help I've used huggies wipes since Ben was born and we've had no problems his skin on his bum is clear, no nappy rash. To wash his face I use cotton wool pads that I use to wash my face or just a ramer sponge and water.

We've just had an 8 hour stretch in feeding!!!!!! Last bottle 8 pm last night and didn't wake until 4am. Quick bottle and straight back to sleep. Lovely.

Bluebell20 · 03/08/2016 05:14

Fffft. DH just came in for the last feed to keep me company - lovely gesture - but proceeded to be so judgy and annoying about other mums I know that I sent him back to the spare room. I've not had enough sleep to deal with that!

Bluebell20 · 03/08/2016 05:22

Awh. He just called through from the other room to say well done on what I'm doing. Not so bad after all!

dollydaydream84 · 03/08/2016 05:43

Haha good work Mr bluebell!

So tired I'm getting about 3 hours sleep 11-2ish then woken up for a 40 minute feed plus pooey nappies and settling which takes us to 4am then an hours sleep then back up at 5am for 40 minute feed and pooey nappy which takes us to just past 6 followed by DD1 waking at 6.30 so 4.5hours sleep all night every night if I'm lucky. It's starting to catch up with me now, I'm tired and grumpy in the day.

Had a good night here too. Cluster fed all evening, then down at 10. We both came to bed then. Woke at 2 and fed until 3 and then back down until 6. I've had about 7 hours sleep, which feels amazing.

DH helped in the night - perhaps he's realised that it's a nice thing to do. I'm a bit taken aback that he's figured that out by himself tbh!

HopesAndDreams15 · 03/08/2016 07:22

Becks 8 hours... The holy grail!, well done Ben!

Good night here too, fed at 10.30, 2.50 and just stirring for his morning feed now.... Just what I needed after a few shite nights.

Cheery1 · 03/08/2016 08:17

Wowza becks and floss sleep! That's brilliant. We're on 4 hours here just about, Maurice awake since 4 wanting feeding every hour, oh joy! Still pretty sore on the right nip front, wondering if it might be thrush...? He did bite it really hard day before yesterday so still could be recovering but thinking after 2 weeks on antibiotics, tgrush is likely....

bluebell I feel your pain at silly comments from DH in the night - mine said he was going to need more sleep as he's working and I'm not doing much in the day.....Angry

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 03/08/2016 08:23

Wow some of you are so lucky with feeds. Our current feed times of an evening are roughly 8pm, 10pm,1am,4am and 7am. But by the time he has actually fed, winded and had a changed nappy it means I get about an hour and a half sleep between. Max two hours. M was diagnosed with reflux on Monday so is also now on infant gaviscon.

I've used Johnsons extra sensitive wipes since day one. The only time I use cotton wool is to top and tail him.

GoingLoopy congratulations. Isabelle is so cute. Hope you recover soon from the birth.

Cookies can't believe you braved the dentist with 3 children.

Primary Annie is adorable. Gorgeous outfit too.

Cheery my nips are sore too. M keeps pulling off them during a feed and I have to re latch him. I think it's due to his reflux. I'm actually thinking about stopping breast feeding. I love the snuggles and convenience but with everything else going on at the moment it's just getting a bit stressful.

Anna hoping to hear news on baby from you soon.

Sorry to anyone I've missed. Hopefully once DH starts to heal more and I get Ms reflux under control I should be able to post more. Here's M chilling in his sleepy head. I put him on his side as he chokes with the reflux on his back

I'll catch up properly in a bit as I'm a bit out of it.

I had my gorgeous baby GIRL yesterday at 9.55 weighing a tiny 8.9 lol! Can't believe we've got another girl. I'm so in love right her. Feeling a bit rubbish as have low BP and was really sick yesterday but that's stopped now!
I felt mum looking after us the whole time.

Anna huge congratulations! That is wonderful news and beautiful that you felt your mum with you. Enjoy those well deserved cuddles! Xxx

dollydaydream84 · 03/08/2016 08:37

Congrats Anna lovely news!!

Beautician you are doing well with those feeds that's how I am, hardly any sleep in between!
I have also used johnsons extra sensitive wipes plus sudocreme from day 1 and been fine

Cheery1 · 03/08/2016 08:38

beaut I'm in awe that you're still bf with all that's going on. You're a bloody marvel!

cookies - you too - dentist with 3 LOs in tow?! Amazing. I'm lucky if I manage to wash and get out at all some days!

dolly I'm feeling the no sleep starting to impact! Sooo tired and Mo is a feeding machine! Here's to a bit of sleep soon....

dats · 03/08/2016 09:05

Anna mahoosive congrats on your girl, yay! Can't wait to hear about it and see her little chops!

I am lurking but just don't seem to manage posting much, right now. Baby boy still nameless, still gorge and mostly pretty chilled although occasional clustery days, like yesterday where he fed almost 45 min-hourly all morning then crashed for a 3hr nap. And then similar all evening - but that's more normal. Night feed-wise we're roughly 12.30/4.30/7.30 but sometimes he is v tricky to settle.

DD is currently downstairs having breakfast with DP. She has been cry-moaning ever since she got up. Toddlers are fucking hard work compared to new squishes. She won't (or is unable) to tell you what the matter is, just makes this god-awful racket and wants the opposite of whatever you suggest, just to be contrary. It's hard being 2!

dats xx
