Hopefully this works...

So we can keep in touch and pass on words of wisdom!

Perhaps someone clever could link to the stats?

Relatched. Not relate he's.

socktastic · 02/08/2016 04:24

Very close to throwing this little one into his car seat and driving round town for a bit. All he's done since going back to bed at 1.30 is squirm around! Can't keep him awake long enough for a burp then he wakes 5 mins later and squirms around more. Still no burp though. No wonder he's squirming and straining!

Flossiesmummy · 02/08/2016 04:58

Sock hope you get some shuteye soon Smile

birchybaby2 · 02/08/2016 05:02

Think we're all up and feeding and catching up. Hubbie back at work yesterday. Left me with a very stroppy 7 year old and 17 day old baby. Very proud of myself managed a play date to park and museum with friend and her children and then quick tesco shop. Cooked tea, washed up, bathed daughter and did bedtime. Oh and at least 2 loads washing. Slightly negligent with changing baby nappies but he was breast fed on demand. Husband helpfully suggested that I needed to go tesco with them both as needed to get used to it!!!
Right better try and get back to sleep as daughter may wake at 6. Ready for day 2!!!
Hope all your little ones stop cluster feeding and settle. Honestly it does get easier. Second time round I'm doing far more, far quicker as don't have a choice only thing lose out on is sleep - MINE. Tea and chocolate/cake help. Have even got back in pre baby clothes. Xx

dollydaydream84 · 02/08/2016 05:31

Sock is he old enough for gripe water?

So tired I'm always a zombie at the second feed

I can join the club with a unsettled windy baby here. Been up most of the night again. The most Emmie sleeps is around an hour at best. She is over 6 weeks and it feels like an established pattern. Is there any hope...... I just like to get three hours uninterrupted sleep!
Sorry others OHs are being rubbish. It is it fun.
I am determined to sort out the nursery today. My mum is coming over to help, so hopefully progress will be made!

Thom80 · 02/08/2016 05:52

anna - fingers crossed you are recovering after the c-section & cuddling a sleeping baby.

socktastic · 02/08/2016 05:59

I haven't slept since 12.30. Neither has he, not properly. He won't take his dummy, I can't stand this. In tears - want to run away. Now he's screaming.

Bluebell20 · 02/08/2016 06:18

Oh sock, I had a night like that last week. In all seriousness, going for a drive might be an excellent plan. Do you feel awake enough to try it?

I've had such crazy dreams since giving birth. Last night I dreamed that Hugh grant was Ruben's father - argh!

SpeakNoWords · 02/08/2016 06:18

Is there anyone, family/friends, who could come round today to take the baby for a while and give you a bit of rest?

socktastic · 02/08/2016 06:32

Unfortunately we've missed the driving window. Dh has taken car to work. Right now I'd happily spend thousands on a second hand car!
My mum might be able to come round but u feel guilty asking for or accepting help. He sees to have calmed down since 6. Got him a bottle all prepared and now he's sleeping. Still unsettled but better than he was

HopesAndDreams15 · 02/08/2016 07:35

Sock sorry you've had such a bad night (and everyone else!) it's so hard not knowing what the problem is when they're so unsettled. I'm with Dolly, have you tried Infacol or gripe water? Also worth looking on YouTube for alternative winding positions, I'm a fan of rocking Harry backwards and forwards on my knee. Will he settle if you co sleep?..if you're not already...sometimes just half an hour is enough to settle them enough to transfer back into the Moses basket or crib and at least you get some rest. Also have you tried swaddling, babies either love it or hate it but worth a try if you haven't? Dr Browns bottles come highly recommended for windy colicky babies, may be worth buying just one and trying it, they're a bit fiddly to wash but may help? You really shouldn't feel guilty asking for help, if your mum is free get her round, I'm sure she'd love to help and you need some sleep!

tams13 · 02/08/2016 08:04

Oh sock I'm sorry you've had such a difficult night. Would a little walk help do you think?

indians we had something similar last night but with less farting. We googled baby massage techniques and these came up for constipation/sore tummies. Bend both baby's legs towards their tummy and hold for a couple of seconds before stretching out again. The other one was to make cycling motions with their legs. Could be a coincidence but after we tried that we went through four very dirty nappies in an hour and a half!

socktastic · 02/08/2016 09:07

Thanks guys, I'll give gripe water a shot. We use infacol for every feed and I bought the tommee tipper anti colic bottles - they're supposed to be similar to Dr Browns I think. Will definitely be going out -Pokemon catching- for a walk later on too. Waiting for him to finish up his feed now so I can change a smelly bum. He finally had a poo!

For washing wee faces, is everyone still using cotton wool? I chuffing hate the stuff!!

beckslovestimmy · 02/08/2016 09:24

Just an idea for difficult to wind babies. I put a muslin on the floor and put Ben on his tummy on top. He wriggles around, lifts his head and we usually get some really good burps (no sick as yet). It feels like killing 2 birds with one stone. Winding and tummy time!! Other times I put the muslin on my front and lay Ben belly to belly and lean/lay back on the sofa. He does the same lifts his head and out comes a burp!

Cheery1 · 02/08/2016 10:23

sock what a rubbish night! Maurice was a monster all day yesterday, didn't stop crying or feeding, boobs are a bit savaged today! it's so upsetting when you can't work out what's wrong. Hope you have a peaceful day today xx

Cheery1 · 02/08/2016 10:42

becks is right about time on the tummy - I think you're bottle feeding but there's a thing called laid back breastfeeding that has helped a bit with latching problems (might be worth a try bluebell?) but also he winds himself if we do it as he's on his tummy, lying on me. Could work after a bottle feed too? It really relaxes Mo and sometimes gets him settled more easily (though not yesterday when he bit one of nips! Really sore today)!

Cheery1 · 02/08/2016 10:44

P.s. sock get your mum round! Just having company is so good on tricky days! My Godmomma has been a godsend since yesterday! X

primarynoodle · 02/08/2016 10:45

Good tip becks I'll try that.

Flossie - did you hand baby to dh last night? I know what you mean about the only way to show dh the reality of what we do will cause discomfort or be a bit distressing for baby. My dp would happily let her cry and spend 15 mins outside playing Pokemon with his Efag Angry or more annoyingly take his book for a little read on the toilet - I don't know how they can be so selfish!!!

Sock - I feel for you. Praying baby sleeps today and gives you a solid few hours of napping

No idea about breastfeeding food faux pas - I'm eating everything and just being mildly aware of my caffeine intake tbh. I've had pate, Brie and Pimms all in the last week!

Posting a pic of Annie as I haven't in a while, I'm so smitten!

sock I would definitely get out for a walk - for you and baby. G always sleeps!! I know you can't nap but the headspace and fresh air should help? I never bother with cotton wool Blush no time!! Glad he's finally had a poo! Makes everyone feel better for a good poo Grin DO NOT feel guilty for accepting your mammas help!! Even if just for a chat and to drink your tea while it's still warm!

birchy that sounds super impressive! Super mum!! I hope you keep up the success. Agree with you totally on the subsequent children thing! We were in Waitrose Cafe by 9 am this morning !

bluebell the walk in itself sounds good. Especially in the sling. How lovely. Wow that is a late cord Ruben; glad it's finally fallen off for you ( they gross me out a bit personally).

dolly that's a great idea about position.. I have tried football hold previously ( I have huge boobs so was recommended) but I've never been able to do it successfully. No amount of pillows etc seems to help either. Hmm might persevere tonight a bit once the older ones are in bed . Thank you!

insians agreed. Stupid tedious job. My DH is surprisingly successful Hmm I sit up on my lap, pat on back and gently move my leg at the same time. I find there can sometimes be another burp even after the first?!? So I can't answer your question I'm afraid :(

I'm off to the dentist in a while.. All 3 children in tow. It's also upstairs. No lift.

Cookiesandcoffee · 02/08/2016 12:59

Forgot to say primary Annie is looking very gorgeous and really love her outfit! Adorable!

socktastic · 02/08/2016 16:07

So I took him a walk in the end, down to my mums! I even got to sleep whilst he was having his snooze. Got to accept this is going to be my life from now on I suppose.
