Mzzzf I am obsessed with 4 hours too. If I could just have 4 hours once or twice a week. I don't even need it every day. Just once or twice a week then everything would be so much easier. But it will happen when it happens. And besides at some point they'll move out so I'll definitely sleep then!!!

Must say I think you are super woman for dealing with everything plus a move to the other side of the country!! I swear I don't think I could have coped. Think an afternoon of chocolate and maybe a little baby free breathing space are in order.

kbb23 · 17/01/2016 15:24

Mzzf we also tecently changed back to normal formula from reflux formula we had no reflux problems but ds would only have smaller amounts of tegular formula swapped back in the end as i think he prefferes the texture and taste of the anti reflux milk. Frolic i started with a few tastes of fruit puree last week just once a day and he had about half a pouch started on the veg puree yesterday and he loves carrot had a whole pouch of that. I'm going to do a week of veg purees once a day and then from next week i think i'll try 2 meals a day. Thought i'd just do a little bit at a time as started quite early. I'm gonna try and make some of my own purees this week if i ever get the time

sianihedgehog · 17/01/2016 17:27

Gorgeous pictures fatty and Fanby!! That face is exactly what DS did when he tried ramming a broccoli in his gob!
mzzzf massive sympathy, I had so many of those meltdowns when I moved here from Glasgow. I think a lot of it was how desperately lonely I was. I kept in touch with all my Glasgow friends online but it's just not the same without the casual in person chat. It must be so very hard with all the stuff of a massive move PLUS a new baby forcing a change of lifestyle. Maybe get out to some groups or classes and try to make some mum friends? Scottish people are so very welcoming of newcomers. Oh and I had similar trouble with the mini pill when I was on it. Makes you feel so gross. So sympathy there, too!!

MaGratgarlik1983 · 17/01/2016 17:32

Hello ladies! Well we went to the straw bear festival today in whittlesea which was so interesting! Molly dancing, burgers, the lot. DS liked the music I think then fell asleep. You ladies are totes mummy mates and that article was fab! I think it doesn't really get easier or harder as DS gets older it just changes. Now it's tough as he wants to always be entertained but it's great that I can watch him trying to work things out. The other day in the pram he took his dummy out, studied it for ages, then put it back in his mouth. Was so amazing to watch! He used to be able to fall asleep anywhere which made going out in the day easier but now when he is awake he's so much more interactive. It's great watching him change and develop.

Anyhoo hope you're all having good weekends.

Frolicacid · 17/01/2016 18:18

I'm so pleased you all liked the article. Some of these things can be a bit cheesey I find, but that one was nice and honest.

It's definitely a strange one this parenting lark. Some times, like when I posted this morning, I feel like I'm doing shit. Other times, like just now when Ds did the biggest smile ever at my boob, things seem great. Our little humans are such complex things already - which is joyous when we watch them figuring things out but not so much when we're trying to figure out what they need.

I value you guys' support and friendships so much. Loads of my friends are very supportive, but have had their babies a few years back. It's great to be going through the same things at the same times. And you're all pretty funny with it 🙂 And you share my food obsession 🐷

We've had a good day. Big pub lunch, found homes for all of Ds' Christmas stuff, big beach dog walk and soon a pizza.

Solidarity fist bump kbro 👊🏻 I'm not pleased you feel that way, but I am glad I'm not the only one.

Gorgeous pics fanby and fatty.

💐 mzzf - you are doing a fab job coping with a demanding baby and massive move / life changes. Seriously, I would have broken a long time ago. Crying is allowed and encouraged as it's majorly good for the soul. Chocolate is also highly recommended. .

Thanks kbb. Carrot is a big hit here as well. He's only having small bits, but seems to want to eat at every meal time, so I'm going to roll with it. It was super lovely to be able to give him some food in the pub at lunch time. Much better than trying to wrestle a nosy baby on to my boob.

Happy Sunday augmums! We survived another week 😜 Go us!

kbro79 · 17/01/2016 19:24

Fanby love those photos. So cute!! And I've said it before but she has the best hair!!!

Fatty Nathan is so cute too and the snow looks lovely. Thanks also for the reassurance! Just got to keep on keepin on.

That peice is great frolic and so true. And yes its so up and down. Even in the space of a few hours!! This morning felt rubbish but this afternoon put DS in a cardi that my mums friend made which is v colourful and so DH keeps signing Joseph and his technicolor dream coat at him and making him laugh and family life feels awesome. Said dream coat photo attached.

Now in non baby news when did eastenders decide it was ok to do these musical montages??? It's a very in Eastenders thing to do.

kbro79 · 17/01/2016 19:25

Attached this time!!!

Mugabe Nights: sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your (sleep deprived) pain!
Fanby · 17/01/2016 20:21

Oh Mzzf - glad you got it all out. I hope it gave you the release which was very much needed! I don't know how you've managed with all of those changes at once, ive found it hard enough just with the lack of job in the last year. You're doing super! xx

Magrat - sounds like a great day! Very cute about the dummy fascination!!!!

Frolic - productive day for you!! We also made it to the pub, she fell asleep 5 mins before we went in as we purposely walked the long way round and then she did her usual 40mins so we were able to have s drink in peace RESULT

Kbro - omg isn't he just the cutest!! Am loving the cardi, I fancy one of those in my size please!!

Oh god, catching up with homeland as we still haven't finished the latest series, tis finally getting good! x

sianihedgehog · 18/01/2016 01:34

Fuck tonight. DS has the turbo snot and keeps waking because he can
can't breathe properly. And he's rolling onto his front and getting stuck as soon as he does. I'm getting more and more stressed so I'm listening intently to him snuffling when he is asleep and as a result I've been in bed since 8 and still not slept. And he's decided he's afraid of the snotsucker and cries and flails at it, which means it gets smacked up his nose, making him afraid of it. :( and snufflebabe is blatantly snake oil and does nothing except smell lemony.

I've just gone on Amazon and ordered a nosefrida. Angry shopping!

GRUMP GRUMP GRUMP Angry

MaGratgarlik1983 · 18/01/2016 02:54

Zzzzz half 2 wake up here for food and coldy cuddles. Only did the dream feed at half 11.

loveandsmiles · 18/01/2016 06:50

Oh siani I hope you got some sleep eventually. I am intrigued to know what a nosefrida is???

Great pics fanby, fatty, kbro Smile

DH woke me and babyloves up yesterday morning at 6.30am badly singing Do You Want to Build a Snowman - seriously - erm NO! He thought it would be a nice surprise for the DDs if they woke up and there was a snowman in the garden and according to him I am a champion snowman builder!! I barely sleep and had just got babyloves and me all snuggled up knowing we had nowhere to be early for a change - I used to find silly things like this endearing about DH but now they just annoy the hell out of me Angry

So impressed by all your babies sitting up in high chairs - babyloves struggles to stay in a sitting position and is showing no interest in food. DD1 gave her a lick of her Sharon fruit yesterday but she just stuck her thumb back in - totally uninterested.

Thankfully the snow has mostly melted for the school run. Off to our usual Monday morning swimming session followed by tumble club for toddlerloves . Wishing a great new week to all ..........

Tindel · 18/01/2016 07:10

Loving everyone's photos, all such cuties!

fanby we just finished the new series of Homeland, so good! Much better than the last few.

loves J isn't remotely close to sitting or interested in food, am very impressed with all of these eating babies!

Had a horrible (for us) night last night. After a busy day, J was falling asleep in his chair by about 7pm. Mistakenly thought this meant he was tired - couldn't get him settled until almost 1am. Even after bringing him back downstairs for a bit. Got really upset and it brings out all of these horrible thoughts about what a rubbish mum I am and how J and DH deserve better than me. I hate that I cannot get my clearly tired baby to fall asleep. He would fall asleep being fed or rocked but snap awake the minute we put him down and cry. I feel so inadequate and drained.

Sorry, self-pitying post this morning. Didn't realise how bad this would make me feel before J arrived. Once he's asleep, it works really well and he goes down for a good stretch. It's just the hours of crying beforehand that are doing me in. I know others have it worse than me, but this just makes me feel so crappy. Feel like such a useless mum right now

Frolicacid · 18/01/2016 07:56

Good morning! I think Ds MAY have slept 10- 4:30! I say may, because I definitely woke up about 2, but I can't remember if he did as well.
I have the joy of conjunctivitis. My eyes look like something from a horror film. Ds looks ok so far, but it's bloody contagious, isn't it. Feck!

Adorable cardigan kbro. We are huge fans of the technicolor in this house.

Whoop whoop for a quiet drink fanby.

💐☕️ siani and tindel.

Total lol at mrloves getting excited about snow! Although I would've kitlled him if he did that to me!

Happy Monday augmums. Does anyone know if I can still go swimming with stink eye? I assume that staying away from other babies is the done thing?

Giraffescandance1 · 18/01/2016 08:19

Morning all

I love the photos fatty, fanby and kbro!

Frolic sorry to hear about the conjunctivitis, I think it's something that your immune system should sort out in a few days, I'd say def no swimming until you're not contagious Smile

loves I'd have been annoyed by the singing too, though dh could always take all six of your dc out if he's so keen Grin

We've had a few bad nights due to the cold weather and teething. I was planning to start baby giraffe on some solids at the weekend but was really busy and chickened out as she's not quite six months, so I'll start her later this week I think.

Hope this is going to be a better week for all!

kbro79 · 18/01/2016 08:28

Ah tindel I really feel for you but you mustn't think its cause your not doing good enough. There is literally nothing in the world harder than settling an over tired baby. I had no idea how useless, stressed and at times pissed off I'd feel when unable to settle my own baby. It's so hard.

mzzzf · 18/01/2016 08:41

Ola ladies!

Another Monday eh?! Balls!
Anther cracking night from DD 🙄 Longest stretch to be had was a whopping 2hrs 15min. Could be worse with hourly wake ups so there is that!! Tindel it's shit trying to comfort an overtired baby, you're doing grand just keep rocking on. It always seems worse in the dark at night when you're alone, I so know that! But really Its not you, these babies are dickheads when it comes to sleep most of the time!! 😉
Well done you frolic!! I'm so totally not jealous at all or anything!

Frolic - Deffo stay away from pool and babies unless you've got drops. You should clear it on your own though. Also I'd ask for your money back from the BF council re better immunity too 😉 Actually when I was a teenager the rumours in the cafeteria were that there was a certain thing getting into your eye that caused it in adults!! Hahahaha

Loves - I hope you sang back to my loves "no so can you naff off now you div" or some such similar!!

Siani - I hope you caught some zzzz's. I'm now at the stage that even an uninterrupted hour feels ok. Lots of coffee for you today missus.

Giraffes - hope it was fun busy at least! Coffee for you to today!

Ahh sod it I'm putting the good rocket fuel in the cafetière today for a solo treat. Mugfull anyone?

Giraffescandance1 · 18/01/2016 08:44

tindel I agree with kbro you're a brilliant mother! It's just that the babies haven't read any manuals and they are unpredictable little monkeys and you can only do your best Flowers my view is that you should do whatever is least stressful to you, whether that's rocking, holding once asleep etc

Frolicacid · 18/01/2016 09:01

Ha ha mzzf! I remember that rumour too! I wander what dh has been up to while I've been asleep? 💦
My lovely friend is an optometrist and has said she will check us both over this morning. Gutted about swimming.

Ds is sitting in his bouncy chair shouting at me and making funny chewing motions. I think he wants porridge.

sianihedgehog · 18/01/2016 09:41

Flowers and Brew Tindel. Nothing worse than when they just won't sleep. They get so miserable and it's so hard not to feel useless.

Kbro I have serious cardigan envy. I've been looking for one like that for DS!

loveandsmiles it's a particular snotsucker that people seem to swear by - it just goes against the edge of the nostril instead of right up it. I feel so bad trying to use the snufflebabe one we have because the flailing means it gets whacked right up the nostril, which must hurt.

Just got a extremely unhappy and very overtired little snot face asleep sitting up on the boob. Poor little thing is drowning in the snot lying down, it's just streaming down his face (and my boob). Managed a couple of hours overnight. He's insisting on sleeping on his tummy which is worrying the hell out of me, but I know I do that until if I've got terrible snot. Someone tell me he's not going to suffocate while we sleep just because he's on his tummy?

mzzzf · 18/01/2016 11:24

Siani of he's a roller you'll and he'll be ok!! If that's too scary though maybe just prop him up instead so he's sleeping on a slope. Poor little dude

OP posts:
Frolicacid · 18/01/2016 11:50

Oh siani, poor little dude. I hope he's better very soon. Ds slept much better propped up a bit when he was full of it. I'm sure he will be ok on his front of he can roll.

I don't have conjunctivitis. Yay! I has something in my eye. My lovely friend has washed it out and given me some drops. Because it was only in one eye and Ds hadn't got it, she reckons I'm fine to go to swimming/ grio us etc this week. Phew! I didn't fancy having to be banished all week.

mzzzf · 18/01/2016 11:52

You deffo need to have a word with Mr Frolic!!!! 😁😁😁😓

Hi ladies, Thank you for the birthday wishes. I had a lovely day. Long hot bath with my new Jo Malone bath oils then to the cinema with pals and home for a Chinese take away and making a murderer. Gosh that series is addictive we watched 5 episodes and didn't get to bed till 1am! Oh well it was my birthday and dh gave me a long lie yesterday.

Ds has a fever today and we saw every hour last night so trying to get some sleep today but every time I put him down he wakes up. Pass the coffee.

Siani I put Ds to sleep on his tummy at the start of December when he had a cold and now he much prefers that so has been tummy sleeping since then. He is fine.

We still haven't started weaning yet. But think Ds is showing signs of being interested but he's not sitting yet so going to wait a bit longer. Can't really be arsed to think about it just now.

Ds is just waking up again so got to go. Let's power through this miserable Monday!

Tindel · 18/01/2016 22:45

Hope everyone has had a nice day. Went to see my first nursery today, which was a bit scary. Seeing another tomorrow and two more next week, so hoping to have something sorted very soon.

After last night, DH announced that he would put J to bed. All went fine until J woke up about 2 hours ago and hasn't settled down since. DH has now decided he's exhausted and I am upstairs feeding again. So much for a night off, although I did get to start reading a book, something I haven't done since before J was born.

Joskar · 18/01/2016 23:22

You aren't a crap mum if your baby won't sleep. Fact. Baby does what baby does. If you're into ages of crying my only advice is to stick the baby in the sling and go a walk. Sometimes it sort of "resets" them. It certainly doesn't make you a crap mum. Why are there 50 million books and blogs about getting babies to sleep? Because there are 50 million parents wishing their baby would go the fuck to sleep. Would Samuel L Jackson lie to you? No, he motherfucking wouldn't.

I really want Chinese takeaway. The nearest one is 20 miles away so it isn't going to happen. What did you get, peach? Was it yumlicious? I need to eat vicariously through you.

Conjunctivitis is cured by breast milk. Strange but true. Glad it wasn't that though because it's so horrible to have manky, sore eyes.

We're also joining the snotty club. Both girls are utterly revolting. Even Dh reckons he's not the ticket and he has to have Ebola or something before he'll admit he's unwell. He better not snore worse because of it. I will kill him. note compassion

Started season three of The Bridge. We're addicts! It is so good though. Love Saga so much.

Banjaxed the car yesterday. Cracked the sump. There's oil (and bitter tears) everywhere. Have a feeling it's going to be £££ to fix. Not good. The only upside is that it was Dh driving so it wasn't my fault for once! Why do these things happen when we have no income?!

Sleepy vibes to everyone.
