Happy birthday peach!

Who was making Portuguese custard tarts? My number one favourite! Send a care package!

Love Unmumsy version. Very funny. Hurrah for Gin is another very funny mum blog. Mostly mum blogs make me want to dig my own eyes out with a crayon but they're both pretty no nonsense.

Hope the new house is taking shape, giraffe.

Some snow here but mostly ice. Minus five and probably lower in the night. Roads are bloody lethal.

Haven't done flying with a little baby as dd1 was just over one when we went on our (first ever) holiday. I was surprised by how well it went. I fed her, she charmed elderly passengers, I fed her, she did some stickers, I fed her, she slept. We were sat on the Tarmac for two hrs before a four hour flight and she was grand through out. Easier with a baby than a toddler I'd say. Wouldn't fancy it so much now not that I have the option of a holiday. I've done ferries lots of times and they're very, very easy. Masses to distract them just walking around.

Pilates was flipping awesome! So nice to do something for myself. I've had spd for two and a half years and really recommend Pilates. It helps so much. It reminded me how much I miss proper exercise though. I used to go to the gym loads and do Zumba and suchlike. Annoyingly one of those Facebook "memories" photos popped up on my timeline the other day. It was 8 years ago and I was a size 8. I will never be that again Sad. A bit of stretching won't shift four stone!

So enjoying The Bridge. We're nearly at the end of season two. Saga cracks me up. I think I prefer it to the Killing because there's a mix of humour and darkness. The Killing was pretty unrelenting! I felt exhausted after each episode. Although maybe I should get season two of that. Or something lighter as a break? Not sure. We have season three of The Bridge too.

Love all the photos.

Sleepy thoughts Augbabes.

Frolicacid · 17/01/2016 07:09

Morning! Please let the quiet bar be because you have all been sleeping! We had a good first part of the night, but we're then awake every hour until getting up at 6:15.
Oh well!

mzzzf · 17/01/2016 07:50

Oh Fanby - coffee and a pain au chocolate for you my friend!!

I traded adult time for sleep fool that I am!!! She went down about 8.30 needed one settle (thanks DH) and then didn't wake until 2ish for feeding. Why did I think midnight was a good bedtime?! She then gave me another 2.5hrs sleep to need settling at 5, then again at 6, then up at 6.45am. Such fun! 😁

Frolic - I imagine it different for us all. Maybe because mini mzzzf was a total nightmare for the first 3 months that now feels slightly easier. I mean I'm not less sleep deprived or craving shit food but maybe I've just been badgered by baby duties that I finally accept that this is how it is and adapt the classic female stance of "well let's just get on with it aye?!" On the whole though she's got better with each month bar the odd blip. Either that or slower my logical brain is being eroded by lack of sleep!!

Have tried DD on normal baby milk this morning as a tester to see how the dogged reflux is. So far no massive sicks but she only took 2oz when she woke. It would make life much cheaper and easier if she can now handle it instead of using the reflux formula. We'll see!!

Pilates is AWESOME for SPD Joskar, in face it's awesome full stop. I really rate it. But more than that how bloody nice to get HOURS of child free time!!!!

Any lovely Sunday plans folks? Dog walk and eating food is the only plan today!!

Morning mugabeans.

Sprinkling of snow for us this morning but we're by the sea so it's rare to get it. I love snow but not so much driving in it.

Fanby molly is just so cool with that backpack heehee. It's amazing. Tenerife sounds perfect for your first holiday. We actually discussed going to Tenerife last night. I went there but it was a totally different type of holiday to the one we'll be having with a child in tow lol. I'm not nervous about the flight for when we go Switzerland I'm more nervous and stressed over the amount of things we have to take and lug around just for 5 nights. At least sun stuff is smaller.

Another vote for the ikea chair. And the plastic bibs. Just wish I'd bought more of them as blw is a very messy experience. Yesterday she had boiled egg and it went everywhere. Also tomato stains really badly so I've already ruined one of her nice funky giraffe bibs because of tomato.

Mzzzf good luck with the different formula.

Dozygirl · 17/01/2016 08:12

Yey to watching some TV frolic. I watched first episode of making a murderer yesterda . You have to concentrate though which I'm not good at because I get distracted by my phon . Dp didn't seem too interested which is annoying. Hope he gets more into it as the story unfolds.

Frolicacid · 17/01/2016 09:17

I did exactly the same last night with a midnight bed time Mzzf. When will we learn?
I hope she is ok on the new formula for you.
Our Sunday plans are pretty much the same as yours - dog walking and eating. We're meeting mil and some family friends for lunch.

Making a murderer is looking very promising so far dozy. I have to leave my phone upstairs to avoid distraction 🙂

Those of you who are weaning, how many 'meals' are you giving? Ds is only having little tastes, but seems to expect something every time we eat now! Is it too soon to be doing 3 times a day do you think? He's still feeding like a trooper all night.

Tindel · 17/01/2016 09:20

Happy birthday peachy! Portugese custard tarts are one of my DH's favourites, must have another go at making them soon!

Mzzf that's my common mistake - trading sleep for adult time! Well, when J actually goes to bed.

We had our first night with J in his cot, but still in our room. Other than him not going to sleep until we did, it was pretty successful. Am still getting stressed about him snapping awake the minute we put him in his bed, but not sure what I can do about it other than just do what works in terms of getting him to do some sleeping wherever we can.

Very excited about hearing all these holiday plans - I'd book something tomorrow, but am struggling to get any feedback from DH. Was thinking about self-catering in France - no flights and just spend time ambling round eating good food.

Looking forward to today - meeting my family and friends for lunch in a pub. Quite a few haven't met J yet, so hoping he will be in charm mode today.

Tindel · 17/01/2016 09:30

Oops, sorry - happy birthday for yesterday peachy!

FattyNinjaOwl · 17/01/2016 09:49

joskar I have a book full of Pilate's exercises to do at home. I find it difficult to get out to classes, and the hospital has lost my notes so I can't get physio yet Angry so I'm just doing the book, and what I remember being told to do and it seems to be working.
I'm also anotger 4lb down this week. 3lb more and I will have lost a stone!
peachy happy belated birthday Cake

sianihedgehog · 17/01/2016 09:57

Snow here, too! DS was staring intently out the windows at it, so I took him out for a push round the block to see it, but he fell instantly asleep. Maybe a bit too young to get really excited!

Another lovely piece to remind us that we're all doing fine 🙂👍🏻

Fanby · 17/01/2016 11:23

Happy snow day for those that have it!! And a very happy belated bday to Peachy!!

Mzzf - GORGEOUS piccy's - particularly love the second one - looks like a scene from Narnia! i definitely feel better at this parenting lark (obviously still have bad days!). I don't know if i've just got used to surviving on lack of sleep, or the general routines etc but I think/hope it's working :S!

Giraffes - excellent tippage! Thanks :D Good to know it's a baby friendly place too!
Very exciting that you've moved!! I hated living out of boxes, I'm the sort of person that likes everything to have a place, and everything to be in it's place!! :D

LoveandSmiles - that sounds like a lovely afternoon! (And a really great idea for a kids party - i wish i'd been invited!!) :D

Frolic - glad you enjoyed your post double decker sofa time - mini beast woke back up so took the easy option of bringing her back to the lounge where she fell asleep on me and we could finish watching our programme. We too had a good first part and then from around 2 it always goes a bit pete tong, managed to hold off feeding until 4 and we started our day at 7…

Joskar - MINUS 5?!?!?!! wow!!! BRRRRR - hot chocolate with extra baileys for you!

Dozy - DH gave up on Making a Murderer - i've just finished ep 3, takes me about 3 days to watch one ep due to the levels of concentration/lack of interruptions needed - honestly stick with it - it's BIZZAREO!
Hahaha, I too am not looking forward to packing!! But yes, I guess we'll need less stuff however i've always wanted to go to Switzerland - MMMMM chocolate!

Tindel - Self catering in France sounds BLOODY awesome! An excellent idea!! Cheese, wine, baguettes BONJOUR IN MY MOUTH!

We're trying food today!!! She's had licks and bits but going to start properly from today. First stop carrot - i've mashed some, and cooked some finger size pieces - it's on the side cooling - no idea what temp it's supposed to be served at?! Room?!!? Ah well… x

mzzzf · 17/01/2016 11:38

Frolic that's such a lovely blog piece. I dig that schizzle!
Is it weird that I class you guys as my mum mates despite never having met you or knowing your names?! You guys just bloody get it though!

Frolic - love that article - have sent it onto my NCT group :)

Mzzf - not at all, you bunch of mugabes are totes my mum mateys x

kbro79 · 17/01/2016 11:59

Have belated bday peaches!! Hope you had a fab day.

Must say I feel like you frolic. Finding it harder than ever. I felt like I'd worked DS out in the first few months (oh god I was that woman on facebook!) but now no idea. He fights every nap even on my lap. He constantly makes this high pitched noise that I hate. His sleep is worse than it has ever been. He can not self settle which gives me the fear that I'll be breast feeding an 8 year old to sleep. I sometimes feel broody when I see newborns (think baby Arthur in the sling in Enders) but I think its just because I found my newborn baby easier. He certainly slept better than my 5 month does.

On the plus side Dh took DS so I could have 3 blissful hours in bed this morning.

We are quite enjoying Hinterland at the moment.

Holiday we are going to Northern spain. Kind of near Santander. Not going till June. The weather in that part of spain is v similar to here so hopefully won't be too hot!! Or too wet and cold.

We have some snow!! But in London it turns horrible v quickly.

Thanks for the high chair advice. Think we'll get the ikea one. I fear I do not have the discipline to keep one of those padded ones clean. My friend had one and I swear new life form was growing in it. And I am even messier than her.

kbro79 · 17/01/2016 12:00

Oh missed loads of posts. Totally totally class you all as my mum mates. Swear I'd have lost the plot of not for you lovely lot!!

FattyNinjaOwl · 17/01/2016 12:12

The people I talk to on MN are my only mates Grin
But you lot are totally my mum mates. I love that the babies are all roughly the same age.
We went for a walk.

Fanby · 17/01/2016 12:21

Kbro - is the sleep not getting any better? :( hugs to you dude. On the tough days I just tell myself it will get better as otherwise we'd all be only children :) glad you got a lie in xx

Fatty - Nathan is toooooo cute xx

kbro79 · 17/01/2016 12:31

Fanby it's marginally better as in its not every hour but still v hard going! And he takes forever to resettle. But as you say if it was this hard for ever there's never be any brother and sisters. Plus he'll totally sleep 12 hours once he's weaning right? That's gauranteed.

mzzzf · 17/01/2016 12:46

Nathan is super cute!

I can totally get why you guys are finding it crapper now. I'd be toes gutted to have had sleep and lose it, I think I'd cry!! Maybe because mini mzzzf was a right pita to start with and I was in a bad way post c section that of course by comparison everything looks much better now. An 8 hr stretch of sleep would be immense though - looking at you DD!!!

I'm a lazy shit today. DH has taken the dogs out and I'm still in joggers. I've deployed the Jumperoo whilst I think back to my flatter stomach days whilst eating a twix. Who needs a nice body when there's bloody chocolate in this world!!? Right? 😁
I 'may' start a bit of a fitness kick come next week! Maybe I'll do a week of 100's! Anyone interested?

mzzzf · 17/01/2016 12:48

Kbro - that's totes true 😆😆😆 mini mzzzf sleeps 12hrs a night on 3 meals a day!

The weaning folklore sucked me in too!!

Fanby · 17/01/2016 13:16

Well Kbro, if the picture below is anything to go by we will not be sleeping anytime soon...

Mzzf - Err check me out, this week I'll be doing TWO yoga classes and a Zumba class, for now I'm on the sofa in pjs, dressing gown, watching graham norton and eating leftover pizza

FattyNinjaOwl · 17/01/2016 13:39

fanby she's gone from "I'm so excited, whats happening?!" To "what the fuck are you feeding me?" Grin
kbro it does get better. eventually
No one can tell you when, but it will happen.

mzzzf · 17/01/2016 14:44

Great pics fanby!!!

Ok what I thought was gang well clearly isn't as I've just had a cry at DH. His crime?! Offering to take did so I could have some me time, I made a snuffy remark of I need more than one hour to do what I need to do (CPD stuff) and then I cried because it reminded me that I'm so different to who I was literally a year ago. Everything has changed!!! Not only have I got a child, but I don't have my old job, I live in a new house in a new part of the U.K and well it all just came out then and there - FUCK! Emotions are the shit for just jumping up on you. Plus I've had this awful brown discharge crap for the last 8 weeks as my body gets used to the mini pill again, such fun!!!

I took myself off to squeeze the crap out my blackhead in a magnifying mirror (hugely therapeutic!) and pluck my eyebrows. I've now come back downstairs and acting like it's all totally fine. That's the grown up way to deal with it right?! 😳

Fatty, I look forward to it getting totally better. I'm hugely appreciative that she's improving but I'd love more than 4hrs sleep each night, or even 4 consecutive hours would do me!

Apologies for the whinge, clearly my blood/chocolate level is dangerously low.
