A book tindel - bliss!! I'm on a self imposed ban of book buying at the mo. It's an expensive addiction!!

Joskar - ahh super fuckits re the car. Life has a shit way of timing stuff sometimes but thank the baby Jesus that DH was the driver. Why is it always a million times worse if shit happens when we're driving?! Shit to the snot and shit to the inconsiderate ness of Chinese takeaway folks being ages away!

I agree re the sleep and baby guru books, I've come to think they're like diet books promising Elle macphearson type bods whilst eating 'what you want' read:tiny portions of a mouse or delightful 'organic' substitutes - mung bean cheesecake anyone?! Anyway, I digress, but yes it's the same schpiel I think. Spend your sleep deprived pounds with me for the promise of sleep/being size 10/a millionaire/having a cot napping baby**

Aside from now desperately wanting a cheeky Chinese I'm doing the edge of the bed in the dark wait. Hoping her milk stays down and that those trumps I just felt on my knee were just audio and not a dirty protest!!!

Good sleeps all. Mugabe Mugabe!

Babies just sleep when it suits them and there is nothing you can do about it - if there was, I would not have been up all night with babylovesSad!!! I don't usually moan too much about lack of sleep as I co-sleep so at least not getting out of bed but last night she just seemed to wriggle around and scream for half the night - usually a boob fixes everything but not last night - was like that on Sunday night too - please don't let this be a new 'trick'. Surely if there was some magic formula I deserve to know by baby number 6?!?!? My mood is not good - DH is off to work and said "bye have a good day" and I snapped his head off - pity the DCs when they wake - please let everyone behave this morning and the school run be pain free!!!

tindel I am on my 3rd book this month - don't get internet in my room and don't get good tv reception either so usually read when babyloves awake - this is proof of how much she has been awake this month 📕📗📘

I have an exciting day if ironing and cleaning ahead...........

Tindel · 19/01/2016 09:22

We had another night of the incredible sleep fighting baby - he finally gave in around 1230. Think he slept until about 8, so he clearly is tired.

DH and I are pursuing our own theories on what might help him sleep - he wants to sort the heating in our room and I am going to get whatever you give snotty babies to help them breathe. He is doing quite a good Darth Vader impression, but it doesn't seem to be distressing him.

We have another nursery visit and swimming today, so hoping for a tired baby tonight!

Frolicacid · 19/01/2016 09:48

Good morning! A pretty decent night here after an initial huge fight to sleep. I definitely reckon the swimming makes for an over tired and over stimulated little chap. He really enjoyed yesterday's lesson. Lots of smiles, hand splashes and plenty of flirting with the instructor.
My stink eye is much better today - but still swollen and red. Sexy 😜

Your birthday sounds fab everything. I love Jo Malone.

I hope today's nursery viewing goes well tindel.
How is Ds sleeping in the day? We also have a sleep fighter and I've found in the past week or so that Ds has been better since changing his day time naps from 3 long ones to 4 shorter ones. I think a lot of the crap stuff we've had recently has been about him working out this new pattern. It's so frustrating when they won't just go to sleep when they need to.

Balls about the car jockstar. How on earth will you get yo the Chineese now?

☕️☕️ loves

Happy Tuesday augbreans 🙂

Clstow · 19/01/2016 10:20

I'm back! First night away from DS went great in terms of him and his Dad getting on brill and doing fine together, less great in terms of me taking advantage and having a whole night's sleep as I ended up eating and drinking far too much, staying up late and dancing round my friend's living room to songs from our youth Blush Ended up going to bed at the same time as DS on Sunday to make up for it - definitely not as hardcore as I was before pregnancy!

Flowers to people feeling crap. Please don't think it's you. Some babies just don't sleep/nap/do anything you'd like them to. I think it's luck of the draw and also the mood they happen to be in at any given time. Things change so quickly and often for no discernable reason. My latest irrational stress is that I'm not entertaining enough for DS and I'm stuck in a cycle of thinking I'm not fun so then probably not being very fun for him. But you lot all sound like ace mums so please don't feel bad. And definitely do eat more chocolate, I'm convinced it helps.

Sorry to hear about the pink-eye Frolic... Definitely something dodgy going on in your household Wink

Good luck with the nurseries Tindel.

Well jel of all the book reading Love - what's the best thing you've read lately?

Joining you in the shit car club Joskar, we just looked up how much it would be to sell ours (which keeps breaking) on webuyanycar. A huge £275!! Err, thanks, guess we'll be running it in to the ground then

Off to see my NCT lot today. There's eight of us and the oldest baby is 6 and a half months and not one is reliably sleeping through the night yet. I'm starting to wonder if any babies sleep well or if it's just clever PR by the Institute of Procreation....

loveandsmiles · 19/01/2016 11:23

Sounds like you had a fab night away clstowSmile. Don't be too Envy of my book reading - unfortunately doing it all in the middle of the night! Have read this month - Accidents Happen and The Play date by Louise Millar, now reading The Hidden Girl also by her - all a good read.

Glad swimming went well frolic and the eye is improving

Proof that lack of sleep makes you crazy - went shopping this morning, came home and put bags on kitchen worktops, one toppled off - 4litre milk carton exploded - I just sat in middle of the milk flood and actually cried. Toddler was for once rendered speechless (trying to see the positive!). I've now had my second shower of the day and am still mopping up milk - feel like this was just the last straw - can't tell anyone in RL as they don't appreciate sleep - will just think I've gone mad making a fuss out of nothing - I've a list of things need doing today and it feels like I gave a mountain to climb. Will sit down to feed babyloves have some Chocolate and try to get myself back on track - sorry for long moan - wishing everyone else a better day than mine Smile

mzzzf · 19/01/2016 13:06

Ah loves you are our personal Wonder Woman!! Holding you're shit together and holding it together for 6 kiddos and a DH is not for the fair of heart at all. You're a legend. The milk was just milk, mother natures way of getting you to stop for a minute (albeit in a milk puddle) and have a moment of your own.

You're so right that not many people get the issues with lack of sleep from a baby. Most will give a sympathetic nod or recall the time they couldn't sleep (once!) due to heartburn or something and felt rough for their child free brunch the next day...yadda yadda yadda. The baby sleep deprivation struggle is real though, you're not a div for crying. I cried whilst making dd's milk this am because I lost count of the scoops I'd done and had to start again. Everything little thing can become the straw that breaks the camel!! Anyway can I borrow a pint of milk?! 😉 Too soon for jokes?! 😁

Frolic - I'm quiet because I think I'm actually dead. Like a walking dead, oh gawd I've become a real mombie!!!

Another fretful night. Lots of resettling but again no feeding. So she'll happily go 7hrs without a feed but need lots of help to sleep/keep sleeping 😕 I'm trying not to go on my phone too much at night because I've been struggling to drop off again recently myself, oh the irony!

Tindel - 8hrs is lush!! Well done j!! 😁

Clstow - that sounds like a frickin' awesome night out!!! Did you get a kebab too?! 😉

Naps are definitely changing here too. Through nothing in doing though, I've given up trying to enforce stuff and I'm just going with the flow when she shows sleepy signs. Sooo I've had a nose around the tinterweb and apparently sleep cycles are changing at the moment from short newborn sleep to more adult ones. Maybe the reasons for the changeable sleep all round at the moment!

Arrghh just realised in a fortnight that DD is 6 months old! WTF?!

On the plus side I finally collected my Footmuff thing to try on the pram today and I smashed s double dekker (cheers frolic!) in the car on the way back home - result!!!

Wondering if I can sleep on the playmat next to her as she plays. I might just have a see and close my eyes...

Running for president of shit car club here! I only paid £430 for mine, over a year ago. The previous owner was an extremely clumsy painter decorator with several large dogs. It looks how you'd expect from that description, inside and out, with the bonus that someone knocked the wing mirror off at Christmas and since I couldn't afford repairs I duct taped it back on... It actually runs and drives okay after about £400 of repairs last year, and is a big practical thing (Citroën berlingo) so I'm not particularly interested in upgrading. All I want is an intact drivers seat!

loveandsmiles Cake and Brew. I know that feeling of there being a mountain of work that you can't possibly tackle. And the crying in the spilt milk one, I literally cried over spilt milk when DS was about 6 weeks old, sat on the tiles weeping with him wailing in my lap.

DS is still a poor little snot face. He actually slept pretty well last night despite it, though. I gave in and let him roll onto his tummy and he even self settled after a couple of wakings. He's really struggling to feed because he can't breathe while sucking though. He tries and then pulls off crying and rubbing at his nose, which is pretty heartbreaking. But I'm just offering the boob really frequently so he's at least snacking and he's just had a decent feed and passed out for a lap nap. I'm trying to redecorate the sitting room (because apparently I'm an idiot and never learn that babies need constant attention) but the lap nap is a priority!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 19/01/2016 13:37

Hallo all,

Sorry to have gone AWOL for a few days. Have been in a bit of a slump (read screaming 'I can't fucking cope' repeatedly at DH in the middle of the kitchen floor on Monday night... oooops!) and have also been leaving the phone downstairs of a night as it buggers up my circadian rhythm's something rotten. Final straw is a distinct lack of daytime sleep on behalf of the grumpster and I've not had time to swing a kitten let alone reply to you lovely ladies.

Even more sorry that although I have been reading there is no way that my addled Mum-brain will now be able to respond to all the different topics that have been going on. I'll hone in the ones that cheered me the most...

Holidays YAY! I love thinking about holidays, hearing about other people's holidays and going on holiday. Come to think of it there isn't really anything about holidays I don't love! We took grumpy 1 on her first flight at 15 months over to Finland and she was a super-star, even though it included a change and a wait. Was much easier the second time though at 2 years old when we didn't need quite so much shit with us. Mostly we go places in the van though, grumpy 1's first camping trip was at 8 weeks (bless). Grumpy 2 is suffering from being an autumn/winter baby and is yet to experience the joy of the open road. Post-children we mostly do France, Wales and the Lakes. My favourite campsite in the world is near Harlech on the North Wales coast. Amazing views...

Conjunctivitis sucks. Grumpy 1 used to get it loads when we lived in London (I can only presume it just floats around in the air in the capital soup - eugh). I can attest to joskar's tip - breast milk really does work to clear it up Blush

clstow have you tried eBay for your car? We buy and sell all our bangers vintage classics that way and you might get a little more than £275.

Ah, the little monkey is grumbling (she was sitting quietly zoning out). Must dash. Hopefully will be back again later xx

everythingispeachy · 19/01/2016 14:55

Hello, sat in the car waiting for dh to do some shopping while ds2 naps. He still isn't well but last night I was armed with calpol and nurofen and he slept from 7.30 to 11.30 then 12.30 to 5.45! I actually got 5 hours in a row!! Amazing!

Loves I can totally get crying over spilt milk. It's such a bastard to clean up. Not what you need when there are a million other things to do. Flowers

We had to let out cleaner go this week. I am now on smp and can't afford her. SadNow ds1 is at nursery 5 afternoons I hope I can keep on top of it but so far I have just been thinking fuck it and reading my book when ds2 is asleep. I haven't really read anything for ages but I feel better when I haven't had the tv on for a day. Currently reading how to build a girl by catlin moran and as far as I can tell so far it is exactly the same as how to be a woman and raised by wolves except the girl has a different name? Funny though. I was laughing at a line this morning and ds1 asked what was funny so I read it to him. It completely went over his head but he laughed at punchline anyway. It was soo cute!

Re holidays we haven't booked anything and I guess it depends on finances but last year we got a cheap deal to centre parcs. Not been before but would really recommend it for babies and toddlers and at that age it isn't too expensive because you can go outwith the school hols and the toddlers are happy with the free play parks and swimming pools. Do a big lidl shop before you arrive and it's fab.

Oh can I get secretary of the shit car club. Hope to replace it later in the year but It is currently pissing me off because the radio has stopped working and I really miss it. Plus it helps drown out the sound of a screaming baby when there is nothing you can do to help except get home sharpish and feed them.

Right dh is coming back laters mugabeans

randomsabreuse · 19/01/2016 17:30

Hi all. Slightly frazzled but with no excuse really. F is creeping up to 7 hours straight sleeping at night which is miraculous but pure luck. She also self settles but on the grounds she came out with a little callus on her lip I think she was sucking her thumb/fingers in the womb. Pure luck.

Holidays wise we're off to see my parents in France so nice cheap one there with live in babysitting should we require a meal out! Also doing a bit of a tour to see friends up north on the way to a wedding in March so she'll be quite well travelled.

I have a car that needs to go soon - my sports car has been on the transfer list for ages but has been unwell - needs fixing and selling (21 years old, 2 seats, mid engined). Will miss it a lot. I now have a 180k Skoda which is my dh's old work car on the grounds that it will last me a good few years but probably had 6 months at best with DH's mileage. It's generally reliable but a bit shabby - was/is used as mobile skip for renovation project and lots of dog hair in boot!

Off to the GPs this week to discuss allergy/intolerance issues and what to do. Me eating eggs at all and more than a minimal amount of dairy, peppers - chilli family and too much citrus means colic, fountains of curdled vomit - not quite projectile but some quantity and 10 green poos a day. Figured I should at least set some wheels in motion...

Fanby · 19/01/2016 17:49

Just running in real quick to ask if any babies have had the BCG jab?? Molly has hers tomorrow and wondered how bad the side effects are - scarring/oozing etc....

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 19/01/2016 19:00

fanby grumpy 1 had the BCG, back then you had it at 4-weeks so it was her first jab Shock. I won't lie, it's a bigger needle than the others and the injection site needs watching but in terms of post-vaccine after-effects the Men B this lot have had the have was waaaay worse!! x

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 19/01/2016 19:01

Oh, and fanby grumpy 1 has the worlds teeniest mark on her arm now from it. Like a miniature version of mine!

kbro79 · 19/01/2016 19:08

Ohh good luck Molly! A few nct babies had it and I think we're fine. Like other jabs I think worse for mummy.

DS has had a day of 2 halfs. This morning we went to yoga and had a lovely time. He then had an hour nap in the pram whilst I did endless walks round the park.

Then this afternoon would have v awful over tired crying. Nothing I did worked. Tindel it's so hard isn't it? I feel like at the moment we are trapped in an over tired cycle that I don't know how to break. Still I am off to a sleep class ran by hv's tomorrow. God knows what they can say that Internet hasn't already but will give it a go. If it's the secret to 4 hours plus I will come back and spread the joy!

Oh random that sounds tough with the allergies. Poor baby and poor mummy. Are you having to be in a v restrictive diet?

Loves you poor thing. I honestly think I would cry 10 times a day if I had 6 to cope with. Chocolate

Right off to start the endless transferring. Question - has anyone mastered drowsy but awake? Am I the only one still doing deeply asleep???

FattyNinjaOwl · 19/01/2016 19:15

kbro I'm still doing deep sleep transfer.
He's also at the point where he cries/screams if he can't see me, until I come back. It's awful. I'm so glad I got the sling! Unfortunately I'm not well today so not been using it. I just want to sleep.

mzzzf · 19/01/2016 19:36

I transfer deep asleep too!! Currently waiting in the dark now for my cue to leave. Saying that though I feed her on a pillow by the side of me and she kinda drifts off herself after the bottle so although not in her cot I haven't specifically rocked or held her. I do cot transfer when floppy and asleep though!

We did drowsy naps during the day but on me. I make minimal effort (unless she's overtired/arsey etc) to get her to sleep. She usually does her own thing and gets there for naps.

Oh fatty - not a-blooming-gain! You're getting a rough ride love. Get some vitamins down your neck! Hope you feel better soon. Slings rock, honestly don't know how I'd manage without now.

I'm up earlier as mini mzzzf had the mother of all overtired whinges after dinner. Cue lots and lots of eye rubbings and Sod's law it's tonight when I'm on my own so j just bit the bullet and started bedtime. This earlier start may well come back to bite me but hey ho!

Awesome on the 7hts random! 😁

Kbro - you HAVE to report back on all the information from the magic sleep workshop!

Fanby - no bcg here. We're not scheduled to have it either!

Please please magic God of sleeping contented babies can you do your thing all the mugabeans babies tonight?!

OP posts:
FattyNinjaOwl · 19/01/2016 19:44

I know mzzzf at least I can go to bed once I've got them all settled. Before my dog died, I had to wait up until 11 to let him out, or he would do his business all over the kitchen. I miss my rug dog, but glad I can go to bed when I want!
I'm planning, bottle (now) transfer, DS1 to bed (DD is already asleep) then bath and bed for me.

randomsabreuse · 19/01/2016 20:26

No BCG here either. I reacted massively to my second one (secondary age) after no reaction to the first (or heaf test)

Feel guilty as she also goes down for the night drowsy but awake. I do wind her down in the near dark beforehand then feed until she bites or comes off of her own accord . Day time less good - feed to sleep followed by ninja transfer or do lap naps if she even will sleep in the day.

Dietary restrictions have been great for losing baby weight but boy do I miss chocolate and cakes - dark chocolate seems to be another vomit trigger. Just want to know what to do for the best...

Frolicacid · 19/01/2016 20:27

Evening all! A crappy day of sleep fighting here. I also think he may be constipated. Food is going down very well, but not coming out so well. I suppose his digestive system is going to take a bit of adjustment.

My car is also a heap! Way too many miles, scratches and problems, but I can't afford a new one and I love the old thing.

Sounds like you had a great night clstow. Living room dancing with good mates is probably just as good for the sole as loads of sleep.

I would be crying in a heap on the floor every day with 6 kids loves. You are a hero. I hope the chocolate helped.

6 months old mzzf?! we're not at 5 yet!
It is good that she can do 7 hours without a feed. She's just taking her time to learn to self settle so that she will be extra good at it eventually 🙂

Redecorating + poorly baby (or any baby at all) = madness! You are one brave lady siani. I hope the snot fucks off asap.

I hope you're alright slow 💐
Harlech is amazing. I have family that way, so spent many a happy summer on the beaches along that coast. Have you been to the nudist beach further south? 😉 I think that may have been where I saw my first non-dad willy!

You need a radio app on your phone to make the car better again everything.

I hope the gp appt goes well random.

No idea re: bcg fanby. Good luck Molly.

Drowsy but awake is a distant dream here kbro. Daytime naps involve being pushed in the pram and we feed to sleep at night.

Feel better soon fatty 💐

Right, he's snoring. Now for the ninja move into his sleepyhead.

Fanby · 19/01/2016 23:05

Ahhh thank you so much slowwife, that's really reassuring!

Kbro - molly also cried herself to sleep after yogA. Proper over tired tears!! She's also not mastered the drowsy transfer PLUS she stays in the lounge with us so I have loads of hurdles left to climb Grin my sleep talk isn't until end of March so yes please to tips lol!!

Fatty - can't believe you're poorly again :( hold on in there you trooper

Random - some serious restrictions there sister!! You are hardcore for sticking to the lack of choc xx

So so so tired she fell asleep quilt after bath time so barely had any milk so she's just woken up and decided to feed her rather than dummy in the hope I can get a decent stretch - will report back lol! xx

randomsabreuse · 19/01/2016 23:21

Fanby - it's a simple choice between chocolate and sleep - either 7 hours at a stretch or the whole night awake with her propped up on me, knees around ears and several nappy changes!

Good luck everyone - go to sleep vibes from Froggy the slumberbug!

Fanby · 20/01/2016 02:25

Random - well then I'd know what I'd choose!!!! Smile well done to you still!!

We have elephant slumber buddy, does nothing for her at all....

mzzzf · 20/01/2016 03:21

Not actually been to sleep yet. I could (read am!) crying. FFS!!! It's not like I need fucking oodles of hoirs. Just two at the moment would help me out!!!

I'm sorry if this post makes the 'sleepers' feel guilty but it's so soul destroying sitting on the edge of the bed in the dark again for the umpteenth hour trying everything you've got to get your baby to sleep. That's when the doubt monkeys fly in!!!

OP posts:
Frolicacid · 20/01/2016 03:32

mzzf 💐☕️🍫
Sorry if you've tried this / don't want to, but would she co-sleep? Anything to get you a few hours.
