Evening all (apart from lily who I very much hope is asleep right now!)

Quiet day here at the dwarf house. Grumpy 2 has slept a lot to make up for sleeping very little over the weekend when the ILs were here. Sadly she decided to pass out right in the middle of my bed thereby scuppering my chances for some simultaneous kip. Why oh why do they always choose the most inappropriate place to have a sleep? What's wrong with the cot / pram?? Still at least she did sleep, many Mugabe's to those of you struggling with daytime sleep at the moment. Tea and biscuits to you all.

Appropriately enough this is one of grumpy 1s favourite CDs

www.amazon.co.uk/David-Narrates-Prokofievs-Persons-Orchestra/dp/B00FVJFF0K

so we cracked it out today in honour of the Thin White Duke.

Am off to bed now, it's bloody freezing here tonight and my duvet is calling me.

mzzzf · 11/01/2016 22:27

Tis going to be a long one tonight as mini mzzzf took 90mims to go down tonight, is still writhing in the cot so not deeply asleep either. I can feel an all nighter in my waters, so in that case who's up for getting the kebabs in now and settling down in mugabes with some trash telly, leftover Christmas booze and the finest of pjs that m&s has to offer!

Actually talking of pjs. I've taken to sleeping in my hillwalking/climbing clothes! They're super toasty for nighttime wake ups if I'm sat on the edge of the bed for hours. And give off a rather devil may car attitude when paired with my standard tartan checked pj bottoms 😁
Without sounding like a right perv - what do you guys wear for nighttime duty? I've still not bought the double foot sheepskin bootie I mentioned before, maybe I should look out for one in the sales!!!

Oh oh oh and finally - is a Footmuff a good investment?!

Frolicacid · 12/01/2016 00:44

I hope you're not back at the bar yet mzzf. We seem to be back to 3 hourly wakes. Not bad, but could be better!
I get a bit hot at night , so don't wear much more than a vest and pants or a button down nightie. I keep a big, fluffy dressing gown close by for night duty.
Ds has a sheepskin footmuff. 100% worth it. So lovely and snuggly and can be used as a loner in summer. Much easier than faffing with blankets. My friend has a Kaiser one that looks like a sleeping bag. That, too, seems lovely.

mzzzf · 12/01/2016 04:26

Jaysus!! I was right. We're on wake up eleventy million!!! Think it's due to the next leap maybe, or she's just being a dickhead about sleep!

Hope the lack of posts means I'm drinking solo ladies 😁

Morning all! Too much to catch up on, although I have always been reading. Just been in too much of a grump to write (sorry!). I swear all I do on here is have a whinge...

Gutted about Bowie - I live very close to brixton and there has been a lot of gatherings tonight so i hear. I've had magic dance in my head all day

Quick shout outs:

Dozy - glad you had an excellent weekend away x

Frolic - you did make me laugh about the attic

Mini mzzzf - c'mon girl, you've proved you can do the sleeping, give it another shot for mummy

Fatty - lol at the chips - sounds like you should be eating them with all that weight loss

Kbro - I hear ya on wishing mum was closer you could lunch as a two now and again!!! Hope you're getting some rest dude x

Siani - he is TOO gorgeous!!

Slowwife - tell me about it!!! When she does decide to have a sleep it's always on me when I need a wee/can't reach the remote, on the bed with my arm in an awkward position etc etc - I swear they know they're doing this

Lily - you're incredible, we love you, please look after yourself, I hope you're tucked up in bed xxxx

Fanby · 12/01/2016 04:28

Mzzzf - can't believe you could be next leaping already!! My new one is blaming teeth....bloody, frickin, tiresome teeth xx

Frolicacid · 12/01/2016 05:28

I'm here too!! Every 90 minutes. 😴

Dozygirl · 12/01/2016 06:08

Oh lily you poor thing. Really hope you've had a better night. Exhaustion us an awful feeling. Hugs xxx

Love my new footmuff. I still wrap her up in coats and blankets but she looks cosy in it. Frolic Mil wanted to buy me a sheepskin one but I was worried it would be too warm so went for matching bugaboo one. They look amazing though.

Sorry for those having crappy nights. Dd has been terrible while we were away so I thought she was never going to sleep again but she nearly did all night tonight. Woke up at 5:45. Think it might be because I managed to get her to take longer feeds in the day. Or it was a fluke. Who knows. She didn't go down till 10 though and that was a fight.

Dozygirl · 12/01/2016 06:11

My mega expensive new mattress is actuality making my back worse! I could barely bend down to pick dd out of her crib this morning it was so stiff and sore. Don't know how long to keep trying it before deciding is no good and taking back to the store. They said you can swap it if u don't line it but can't remember how long you have to trial it. It might just need breaking in maybe? ?

sianihedgehog · 12/01/2016 06:14

I'm at the bar, too. Waking at 21:30, 11, 1 (for two bloody hours and only going down when I lay in the cot), and now. This one was a nappy so full of wee that it had overflowed and soaked the grobag, so I suspect he'd been awake a while. Blaming myself, tbh, he had SO MUCH NAP yesterday. I should've kept him up more, but he was so knackered after his busy weekend.

Lily hope you're sleeping now, it's horrendous when sleep dep gets to that point.

fatty what a greedy chap, brilliant! DS is grabbing food occasionally, but so far the worst thing was my cinnamon bun!

mzzf my nighttime feeding ensemble is a stretched out old seamless bra to hold the pads and a massive fluffy dressing gown with a hood. Classy. I hate hate hate sleeping in clothing, but it's currently 16C in here, so I need something that's basically a wearable blanket if I'm feeding or sleeping halfway in the cot!

loveandsmiles · 12/01/2016 06:55

mzzzf I just wear pants to bed Blush - babyloves seems to feed for the entire night and I get fed up getting my boobs in and out so she just lies on top of me and helps herself - very attractiveGrin. I keep a giant fluffy dressing gown or onsie by the side on the radiator for when I get up - don't do getting up in the night - even though she feeds lots I do feel more rested for not having to move out of the bed!

We went swimming yesterday morning followed by tumble club. I thought I would be super organised and put babyloves in her swim nappy and swimming costume under her clothes so no changing when we got there. DS is always really helpful at holding her in the mornings whilst I get other girls ready for school - big shout from him whilst I was doing the girls hair - go downstairs to find him holding babyloves at arms length with poo and wee dripping from her and his school uniform covered - swim nappies are not very absorbent it would seem💩💩😂😂!! DS had to have a shower and complete change of clothing as did babyloves - so much for saving time - won't try that one again!! Day did get better in that babyloves and toddler slept for 2.5 hours when we got home from all their activitiesSmile

Not much planned for today - it is pouring down with rain (again!) - I moan about school run every day in life but HATE going out in this weather especially with a toddler and baby - toddler hates the cold, hates walking, hates the buggy board and on and on...........

mzzzf · 12/01/2016 07:56

Dozy - it sounds like you might need to take the mattress back. Gone are the days of breaking in a mattress. It should feel super comfy from first try. Did you buy a new base too? As sometimes a new mattress on an old base alters the firmness.

Fanby - you moanie old trout 😁 Ah man you saying you're near Brixton makes me miss living in London. Although I suspect that's mainly due to those being child free money rich days!!! And yup DD is just gone 24 weeks past due date so bang in the next fussy period - joy! However, there does seem to be a pattern that I get one or two good nights at the end of each leap i.e. so every couple of months!!

Frolic - tiredness fist bump to you 👊🏻
Siani - yup I changed a giant wee nappy too. The perils of lots of feeding! I feel like I should limit daytime snoozing too now. And did two big ones yesterday so maybe I need to try cutting them
Shorter.

Loves - your poor DS!!! And yup swimming nappies are basically 'catchers' rather than absorbant. And yes the weather is frickin awful isn't it?! I was thinking of going out but with so little sleep I don't trust myself to drive and I don't fancy walking in this either!

Morning all? Is it too early for an expresso martini to get the day going?!

I forgot to mention our big news that we tried some baby rice last night. Just a few tiny tastes. Ds was mostly ok (looked a bit confused) and was able to swallow without problem. It's pretty rank stuff though ,so I'm going to try carrots next. Just a few gentle tastes to see how it goes.

Ds is snotty and has a weepy eye. Joy! Someone remind me again about the immune benefits of bf'ing? this will be cold number 3
I'm going into work this afternoon to book on to some training in March / April for kit days. Gulp!

lovely photo again yesterday siani. We have the same book and teether! I am like your baby stuff stalker!

The sheepskin is very toasty dozy. We spend a lot of time on the beach and stuff, so will get lots of use out of it. And the front comes right off for being in shops / cafes etc. I love the bugaboo ones - they look fab.
Glad you got more sleep. I think you should take the mattress back if you're feeling like that. We have an ikea one - it's a few years old and has kept it's firmness really well.

Lol at your 💩 Storm loves! Poor baby and Ds! I had to buy Ds some swimming trunks because we I took him in just a swim nappy the first time and he's so skinny that it kept coming off when I was bouncing him in and out of the water 😬 - a poo would have been utter disaster!

👊🏻👊🏻 mzzf - why do these babies keep teasing us with a few good stretches? Total sleep dickheads!

Right, I suppose I shouldn't go into work in my pj's, should I?

FattyNinjaOwl · 12/01/2016 13:57

Hello hello. Even my 7 year old has decided to start waking in the night now! Argh!

Anyways. loves poor DS Grin
Erm.... Can't remember....
Erm.

Well I bought a rain cover for the sling. (Close cocoon). I'm going to test it out tomorrow. (Not doing it on the school run as DD is being a pain and will probably end up sat in a puddle) my theory is, if I can et out for a walk every day, it should help shift this extra weight. And believe me I need to! I'm huge. I'm now 15 stone 1. I need to be back down to 9 and a half ideally. stupid SPD making me sore and not able to move

Giraffescandance1 · 12/01/2016 15:03

Afternoon all,

Sorry for all the lack of sleep, bloody babies Grin if they weren't so cute we'd give them back.

fatty you could write a new weaning book about chips and chocolate buttons Grin I'm starting solids this weekend.

loves I don't get up at night either, though I wear my Minnie Mouse feeding nightie from mother care, I have no idea how often baby giraffe feeds but she's stopped sleeping on me now she's too big Smile

After a grumpy few weeks baby giraffe has two teeth coming through. She's super clingy and they seem to be hurting her, poor thing.

Older giraffe started nursery this week, she's going a few hours each week before school in September. I'm not impressed with dh who keeps telling me the nursery hours mean I get a break. Surely a break is having no children, not still looking after baby haha! I challenged him to take both children out for an hour at the weekend which he declined, apparently I can manage two because I have childbearing hips wtf?! He can do all the housework then Wink
Good luck mugabeans!

kbro79 · 12/01/2016 15:29

DS had another shit night. Still was nice to see the DH at magabues play so many Bowie tracks for us to drown our sorrows too.

Woke up (woke up ha ha ha - admitted defeat more like) feeling super low. Just don't understand why he won't sleep for more than 2 hours??? Why??? Because he's just little and needs to learn. And it's not my fault. But it's so hard not to constantly doubt everything. That said I have a suggestion for mums feeling low. Baby cinema. Was so nice to do something I enjoyed for a change. And really lifted me. We saw joy which I guess is uplifting anyway but was nice to sit in dark room and relax and enjoy a good film. If we are going to dance to these babies tunes all night may as well have them dancing to ours during the day every so often.

Frolic I was saying the same to my DH about breastfeeding. Thank God I did or he might have spent all winter have cold after cold. Oh no wait! He did spend all winter having cold after cold and I think is getting yet another one. Grrrrr.

Fatty no to your seven year old getting up. Will these bloody kids sleep. Ever since you mentioned Nathan eating the McD fries I have been craving them bad!!!

kbro79 · 12/01/2016 15:33

Oh and frolic somone on a breast feeding fb page I am part of said that they had written to loads of bottle companies and asked for free samples to try on their bottle refusing baby. And loads had sent them. Just thought I did share although appreciate endless trying bottles may not be what you want to do.

FattyNinjaOwl · 12/01/2016 16:22

kbro go be fair, my seven year old has always been a shit sleeper. He didn't sleep through the night until he was 4. And even when he sleeps he's up at 5 am usually. Luckily he normally reads a book or something but last night he was in and out asking if he could have warm milk, telling me he wanted to change his pjs (wtf?) Etc etc.
giraffes Grin I can call my weaning book
What not to feed your baby
(Unless they steal it and you can't be arsed arguing with a baby in a crowded restaurant)

sianihedgehog · 12/01/2016 17:47

frolic we've clearly both got fantastic taste!

Hello Augmums! A better day so far in the magrat household. Popped into work for coffee and everyone wanted to cuddle DS who wouldn't sleep. But he fell asleep just after we left at half 1 and slept until 4!! His cold is bothering him I think. At least I got him back on the train with no mad crying!

sianihedgehog · 12/01/2016 20:57

frolic YEP!! I think DS has possibly outgrown it, though. :(

Lilydreams · 12/01/2016 20:59

Thanks to all for your kind words after my melt down yesterday you guys really are the best, what would I do without you!

Magrat not sure how long the regression is supposed to last but feels like it's been going on forever here- DS is 24 weeks and well see yesterday's post reference that! Went to baby clinic today and heard at least 4 women with younger babies proclaim 'oh he/she sleeps through so I don't worry about feeds/DH helping/nappy changes' how I wanted to kill/ inform them of the regression that was yet to come!

Slowwife- I was in bed at the one of your post last night thankfully although not asleep- the horror of sleep deprivation continued and it took be a good couple of hours to drop off- had 'I'm a little yellow car' a song from one of DS's vtech toys playing over and over in my head!! That said last night was better with only s few wake ups and DH did till 4am when I took over then DS didn't get up till 9am and woke for the first time in a few days with his usual big beaming smiles so he was obviously happier for the sleep too! Fingers crossed more to come!

Frolic and Mzzf sorry last night went back to being pants!

Footmuff- yes yes yes we have one matching our pram and it's like a little sleeping bag DS always looks snug as a bug in it and has great naps out and about in it.

Dozy- sorry about the mattress I would second taking it back we got s new one in the summer and instantly felt like sleeping on a cloud (well lying on not much sleeping thanks to DS!)

Loves- had to giggle at the swim nappy mishap sorry!

Must have been the day for nipping into work today I went too- all sorted for return to work training and my leave for this year- they hadn't recorded half of what I took last year so I got to keep it result!! Much more relaxed now it must have been playing on my mind so in defo going to enjoy the final 6 weeks of mat leave without stressing now!

Kbro glad the cinema cheered you up I must make sure I try that before I go back.

Ladies check out tryitclub.co.uk it's ace loads of stuff to 'try' so can only order them once but great discounts got some MAM dummies for 2.29 instead of 5.50 amongst other bits- thankfully they were reduced as DS spat them straight out Hmm

Tried him with his first food tonight- fajitas so in pieces obviously not a whole one and I was mega surprised at how he knew straight away to pick up and put to his mouth- he didn't swallow much but clearly was very happy with himself- would have swallowed some chicken but DH freaked out when he chewed a bit off and pulled it out his mouth!! Much to my amusement as he kept telling me it would be me who worried!

Must dash off to watch Derren brown on ch4 if DS stays asleep and let's us!

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 12/01/2016 22:36

Am knackered so crawling into bed but just wanted to say...

mzzzf · 13/01/2016 01:34

Hope everyone's having a much better night than me!
