Sorry to hear that rra we aren't doing so well with settling either. J fell asleep just before 7pm, woke up and roared 20 minutes later, didn't settle properly until almost 10. Can't remember the last time J settled in less than 2 hours.

joskar we have no plans this weekend, but hoping to persuade DH to try swimming with J - I've taken him to lessons and I think it would be nice for them to have a go just having fun.

Tindel · 29/01/2016 08:12

Yay mini-mzzzf! Glad you're getting some more sleep at last!

Frolicacid · 29/01/2016 08:25

Morning all! Poor Ds had a bit of a nightmare teething time yesterday afternoon. Big red cheeks and pained tears. Calpol did the trick in the end.

kbro, this is my lovely friend's dc 2, so she knew full well that a newborn is preferable to a 5 month old. Damn 😉
Super cute photo! Avocado by any chance?

mzzf, wet weather shopping burns millions of calories. Get that chocolate down you.

I hope the hair is looking swish clstow.

Ohhhh siani, are you going to be the first thread bfp?! Or will it be magrat? You are both very brave super mammas in my book if you can even think about it 😬

Happy 5 month little grumpy 🎈 I hope you all feel better soon slow.

Downloading the app is the hardest part jockstar.

💐☕️ rrra.

Happy Friday everyone! I think we're staying in to hide from Gertrude's wrath today 💨🌧

Frolicacid · 29/01/2016 08:28

Massive X-posts! Yipppppeeee mzzf!! Go mini mzzf. I'm so bloody chuffed for you. you really, really deserve that sleep. And you give me hope 🙂

kbro79 · 29/01/2016 08:45

Mzzzf you so deserve that. Well done mini mzzzf!!! 6 months though - how did that happen. Flying by.

Weekend plans involve swimming and taking DS to see some friends on Sunday. They've only seen him once since he was born so big changes.

We got the stroller!! Woohoo. And DH didnt have to wrestle any pregnant women or new mums to the ground to get it. I ate so much chocolate it's embarrassing.

Interesting about the mio nappies. Such a shame as I love there designs. We have been playing around with our little lambs trail pack but decided to go for it. 20 microfibres nappies on the way. Along with some tartan wraps.

Frolic yes was avocado- big hit!!

Mzzzf thanks for the wheetabix suggestion. We are going to give it a go. Or more accurately- Aldi wheetabix brisks a go.

DS is napping in my bed next to me not on me. This is progress.

Frolicacid · 29/01/2016 09:06

kbro, I mainly use the miosolo's, which are the all in one type. Never had any problems. They are meant to do birth to potty as they fit with poppers. I stocked up in aldi yesterday. For £8 they might be worth a try. And the designs are super cute 🙂

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 29/01/2016 10:01

Just popping in to say - wowsers! the wind is amazing here. Is this hurricane Gertrude then?? Saw DH nervously checking the roof tiles this morning!

Have both grumpy's at home with me again today. Wish me luck. It was quite sweet at the start of the week but now that grumpy 2 has come down with the cold and grumpy 1 is starting to feel better the cracks are beginning to show. Not to mention the fact that I have a suspiciously sore throat...

kbro cloth nappies are baffling - what works brilliantly for one child is a leaking pile of shite for another. I blame the chubbiness or otherwise of the individual thighs. Plus if you have long babies like I do then you have camel foot issues with short gusseted nappies Blush. I agree with frolic though, give 'em a go for £8 and be prepared to tank them if they don't work (or they could be the best thing ever!) I got some Bumgenius pocket nappies off a friend this time around expecting them to be rubbish and they have been amazing Grin

randomsabreuse · 29/01/2016 10:14

In my library trial the Bumgenius just gaped - couldn't get them right. Every time she pooed in a Charlie Banana it leaked as well. Absolutely no idea why as the fit seemed good. She is pretty skinny thighed though. Disposables are the same - Aldi are the best of a bad bunch for us, hopeless for others..

We (actually mostly me and DH) have the snots. Need to avoid older kids for a bit until DH has lost the chest infection that's actually driven him to the GP - started in November!

Clstow · 29/01/2016 10:21

Woohoooo MzzzF! You so deserve some sleep. Did you move mini-M in to her own room in the end?

It's even super windy in London - sounded like we were haunted as the wind came whooshing through the gaps in our drafty flat last night.

Good luck with the grumpys slow! If no ones feeling great maybe it's a good day to curl up on the sofa with a film.

Solidarity fist bump to rra and others with snotty sleep-avoiding babies. DS is streaming and had many wakes last night but i can't complain as DP takes over nights full time from Sunday. Can't wait.

Yay for nap progress Kbro. DS is asleep on me right now but as he's poorly I can't resist the snotty cuddles.

Weekend plans include another bday celebration (wtf happened 9 months ago in the early 80s?! All my friends seem to have January birthdays) and the start of weaning... Can't wait, we're doing baby led and I think broccoli will be DS's first taste. Yum.

Tindel · 29/01/2016 21:19

How is everyone getting on? DH is out tonight so have decided I can't face trying to settle a decidedly unsleepy J, so have brought him downstairs and hoping he will fall asleep feeding. So think it might be an evening with him latched on, so probably best I'm home alone Grin

Frolicacid · 29/01/2016 21:35

Ds has been a total mare to settle tonight. Then he did a huge poo, smiled and conked out straight after a change.

I hope he settles for you tindel.

I hope you're feeling better loves and random.

About 2/3rds of both our families have their birthdays in February clstow.

Where are you all? Did Gertrude blow you away?
🍷 Cheers to the weekend 🙂

kbro79 · 29/01/2016 22:02

DS is also having a nightmare on the settling front. Bad evening always equals bad night. Grrrrrr. Come on ds. He's not even upset. Just wide a bloody wake.

rrra · 29/01/2016 22:10

I just had to change our bedsheets as DS had a coughing fit and brought up all his milk. It was then I discovered we only have one king size fitted sheet. Did the best I could with two overla

Lilydreams · 29/01/2016 22:10

I'm here frolic but wow has it been windy today!

It was the funeral today and was so hard. The kids did amazing, 2 of them even read at the service which I couldn't have done at my mums but I'm worried they are putting on too much of a brave face bless them. I cried buckets it was so sad but a lovely service and such an amazing turn out some people had to stand outside which shows what an amazing lady she was. I'm exhausted now but just tried to sleep on the couch and even though my eyes feel like they are bleeding I can't! Just drained.

I'll do some quick replies/ post but head is mashed so I'll forget loads!

Rra sorry you had such a tough night remember it will get better.

I didn't get to aldi yesterday very jealous of all your swag I might nip at the weekend and rummage through the leftovers!

Ransoms I can totally recommend the copper coil if you don't want hormones I'm loving it I've gone super regular and no pain etc! Yay!

Mzzf- yipeeeeeeee for the sleeps!! I swear a switch has flicked on DS's head when he turned 6 months he is eating like a trooper, grasping things so much more complexly, goes down easy on an evening and had even (dare I say it) improved sleep too! He slept last night 7 till 11.30 when we fed him then through from midnight to 4.20 murmuring twice and then again to 0615 for a feed and back to sleep till 0910!!! Wowed! Think he knew I needed the zzzs for today!

Ds is in 6-9 clothes now too has been in pants a while as he is very long legged!

Here's to a sleepy night all round.

rrra · 29/01/2016 22:16

Damn it!!!

Two overlapping double sheets. Guess what I'll be buying in the morning. Oh and this morning DD had a poo in her pull up (never does this) and didn't tell me. I often get her dress while she is sat at kitchen table as she has a footplate on her chair that she stands on. Well poo covered bottom then made contact with the chair. Woe was me before even 9am today.

Gave ibuprofen at 8 so was hoping for a bit of a kip early on, but now he's passed out with almost an empty tummy prob not.

Things can only get better right??! Good luck kbro and tindel. Happy sleeping everyone.

mzzzf · 29/01/2016 22:29

Yeah forget all that crap about getting sleep now. I've been trying to settle her since 7.30pm and DH is still up there now trying.

Gertrude is battering the crao out of us. Just had mega hailstones mixed in with the crazy wind!

Lily - hugs to you! Funerals are so emotionally hard. Really hope you get some good zzzz's tonight!

And everyone else too - arrghh what a day. Hope the night is better!!!! Sleepy vibes all round x

Made the mistake of moving J to put him to bed, so he was most upset. DH is on his way back now and I suspect I will get moaned at for not putting him to bed properly. It's just so hard at the moment to do it and him to get any sleep, I just want an easy option sometimes. Is that so wrong?

I also found out DH is doing DIY stuff most of tomorrow, so will be on my own with J again. I think that definitely makes it his turn to do bedtime tomorrow night then?!

Dozygirl · 30/01/2016 06:05

The wraps are brand new so shouldn't need waterproofing. I bought some charcoal inserts awhile back but they were huge so didn't fit in her size 1 ll. Will try in the size 2 and boost more. I just think it looks ridiculously uncomfortable to be so boosted that she has a ginormous bum and can barely move. I worry that she'll feel too wet against her skin too whereas she doesn't in a disposable. Oh well. Will keep persevering. It's not easy this cloth bum business so I can see why most ppl don't do it. I find easy in the day though so at least I'm doing it for a bit of the time and helping reduce landfill a little bit.

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 30/01/2016 09:25

Just a flying post to leave you with this article on bf'ing I picked up this morning. Hopefully will comfort anyone who has had a bad night / is still concerned about supply www.emmapickettbreastfeedingsupport.com/twitter-and-blog/the-dangerous-game-of-the-feeding-interval-obsession

mzzzf · 30/01/2016 10:33

Yep jinxed the shit out of saying she's done good sleeps. Last night was an every 2hr fandango and she didn't properly settle until gone 10pm. Such fun! However, I'm super grateful of the little bit f sleep I did get, we can deal with a bit of crapness now I reckon.

Happy Saturday folks. DH took her so I could lie in this morning and now he's on bacon sarnie duty - he can stay 😁

dozy try this site

www.madebyrubyreddesigns.co.uk/

The zorbs are supposed to be good. I'm not fussed for immobile babies in the night - sounds good to me! The other thing this woman does is fleece and minky liners. Once the baby is eating proper meals and has solid poo you can use disposable liners or these fleece or minky ones. The fleece and minky ones wick moisture away and the poo just slides off so it's easy to put in the loo or whatever. Really recommend them. Very cheap too.

Dozygirl · 30/01/2016 11:58

Thanks joskar :)

Oh mzzzf I'm glad you had a few good night's sleep. Finger crossed she remembers how to do it again.

Dozygirl · 30/01/2016 11:59

I chose ll for their apparent bombproofness and begrudge spending money on more and more things to make them work. I have got extra ll bamboo boosters so will just boost her up and see how we get on.

FattyNinjaOwl · 30/01/2016 16:08

My dads a fucking wanker. Phoned me at 20 past fucking 11 last night. Who phones at that time? When I explained I couldn't talk as he had woken all 3 children, he laughed. Angry

mzzzf · 30/01/2016 16:58

Total knobbery Fatty!! Hope you're well despite that lady
