I feel bad now for complaining about ds this morning because he has been a little angel so far today. Nothing but laughs and giggles and napping without problem. I've even managed to get a stack of household admin stuff sorted while he watched. The shredder is hillarious, apparently!
I've also arranged to visit our first choice nursery on Thursday. They have spaces for May, so I just need to pop in, see if I like it then sign the contact. Gulp!

Sleep anxiety really is the pits fanby. The dropping weight centiles thing, along with the increased waking and feeding really plays on my mind in the small hours.

Thanks for the dream feed link kbro. I try to make sure Ds is awake from his last nap by 5:30-6 ish. But I wouldn't take any tips from me and my sleep fighting little chap at the moment 😉

THANK YOU for that slow. It's all stuff I know, but totally needed a reminder of this morning. I may have shed a tear or two reading it.

If I could get Ds to take a bottle I would probably be thinking very hard about waning off the breast now rrrra, even just to share the load a bit more with dh.

I hope the swimming tires him out tindel. I will be very jealous if it does because it didn't work for us yesterday 😜

I hope you're all having a good day. I'm off to meet my friend at soft play - good job they have nice coffee there!

Fanby · 05/01/2016 16:27

Slow - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for posting that. I think sometimes we all need to be reminded how amazing we are. Shall we rock champagne at 3am tonight all ;) ?

Sorry that there were even more shit night - shall we blame a funky moon or something??

Big day at yoga this morning-I looked up from a downward facing dog and molly had rolled from her back to her front!!! She then did it again so definitely counts this time, hard surface-not a bed like previous rolls!

Ah slow thank you thank you thank you!! I have screen shot it and will read every time it gets too much. I currently reading the gentle sleep book. It is such a nice book. Not massively practical but made me feel so much better about how little he sleeps.

Thanks for all the advice about last nap time. May have screwed up on the nap thing as forgot purse so had to walk back from clinic instead of bus meaning DS is almost certainly going to fall asleep on boob now. Will try waking by 6 I think.

Frolic DS has also dropped another percentile (2 from birth) so am also stressing about it. We have to go back for extra weigh ins now. Is such a big worry with breast feeding isn't it. I think an evolutionary development that needs to happen is clear breasts with measuring lines on. That would be much less stressful.

Ah fanby how exciting. DS still won't do it. Lazy sod.

rrra · 05/01/2016 16:59

I read something (maybe on here?) which said those growth lines are plotted according to formula fed babies, and breastfed babies often follow a different line. Might want to check accuracy of that, but might give you some hope? Also if you were given a drip in labour that can artificially elevate your babies weight at birth and the line they 'ought' to follow.

Have purchased baby sleep trust techniques book today. I'm going to try and teach some kind of non feeding to sleep stuff. My mind couldn't come up with a better word there, it is on strike!

rrra · 05/01/2016 17:02

Also just discovered the author of the gentle sleep book is doing seminars around the country. There is one very near me week after next. Tickets £25 for one adult, three hour talk.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 05/01/2016 19:04

Siani I hear you! DS is also rolling onto front then getting stuck!

Tindel · 05/01/2016 19:29

Well done Molly - such a cutie! J can get onto his side from back, but not quite all the way yet. He is so close though!

He's been starving since we got back from swimming and is currently asleep on me. Am going to try just putting him down without putting him in his grobag to sleep, as he seems exhausted and I cba to disturb him.

I'm not having cheese and biscuits tonight - instead I've had toffee popcorn, Haribo milk bottles and a double decker. This is why I'm fat 🐷 I am stuck in a never ending circle of feel shit and eat.
Ds has been an angel all day. Such lovely company with his enthusiasm for everything.
I can't face going to bed, so he's just had a bit of a nap in the sling while we walked the dog and is now having sleepy feeds on my lap. I may regret not taking him up earlier later on, but I doubt things could get any worse than last night, so fuck it 😬

I love those photos fanby. Very clever Molly.

kbro, Ds has dropped from over the 50th to under the 25th. Like rrra, I've also heard of a different chart for bf babies. I will do some googling.
I'm not worried about it at all in the day. He's growing loads in length, is active, meeting nilestones, etc, etc. I've seen failure to thrive babies through work and he is nothing like that. But I can't help but worry in the sleepless hours.

Do you think we should all go en masse to the seminar and refuse to leave until we are told the secret to sleep rrra? 😉

Beautiful photo tindel, he is so almost there!

Lilydreams · 05/01/2016 20:46

Hi all, another one for the shit night last night- defo a funky moon Fanby!!

Fanby she is gorgeous looks like such a grown up little lady with all that hair! Beautiful! No rolling from DS here I don't think he will tbh he's not remotely interested! He can pretty much sit now and still loves standing supported - put him with his hands on the couch the other day and he stood there a good 30 seconds before falling sideways- I caught him obviously!!

Slow- thankyou so much for your post it really spoke to me as cheesy as that sounds but I needed it at the mo!

At 5 months surely DS should be out this sleep regression by now? He's all over the place and I'm losing the plot!

I can't seem to get bedtime right the last few nights- he's fallen asleep at storytime around 7/7.30 only to wake an hour later screaming and then not settle for another hour or so! I discovered tonight that it's probably because he's hungry as he has been having a bottle around 5/6 so then misses his 'last' one by falling asleep at 7ish- fed him tonight when he woke at 7.45 and he's been back asleep since 8.20 but I don't know how to manipulate his feeds so he wants one at 7!?

After reducing the amount I offered at both night feeds the previous 2 nights I am putting it back up tonight as although it has successfully got him to finish feeds in the day he was really really unsettled overnight and reduced the time between night feeds. So I'd rather encourage more sleep at the minute- who knows I'm just trying anything and I'm rambling aren't I...... I'll stop!
A

Tindel- try putting a toy to the side above DS's head so he tries to reach for it- I did this with a ladies baby at baby massage and he rolled onto his tummy for it after being stuck on his side for weeks- wouldn't stop rolling the rest of the class then!

As usual I can't remember any more posts so sorry to those I've missed!

Fanby · 05/01/2016 20:54

Kbro - get yourself on dragons den with those boobs with measuring lines!! You'll be onto a winner!!! Hope you have a better night x

Tindel - great snap - molly was like that for two days so it really won't be long now I reckon!!

Frolic - that sounds like my kinda dinner. I had cold, dry spaghetti as DH I chose tonight to have a row! Joy oh joy! He's in the spare room tonight, least I get a break from the snoring!

Lily - she was showing no signs apart from the last two days so may well sneak up on you! Excellent job on the standing.
You can try over a period of a week to adjust feed times throughout the day by ten minutes or so to get the 7oclock one that you want?

x

mzzzf · 05/01/2016 22:14

Lily - I'm the same with the feeds and I ditched the idea of trying to juggle the feeds about the get one at the right time. So now a bottle is part of bedtime routine regardless of when she had her last one. But to be fair this also has changed again now we're having 3 meals a day. In my limited experience it's pointless trying to reduce bottles, if we were breastfeeding you'd still offer a boob at the point so I just offer a bottle anyway.

Praying for good nights all round! X

everythingispeachy · 05/01/2016 22:30

I can tell we are gearing up for another bad night. Ds has been coughing all day. A stranger in the shop even commented that he didn't look well despite the big smiles he was getting. We've been in bed since 8 nut waking up whenever I put him down. Had some calpol but don't know what else to try. See you in mugabe's in about 20 mins. Night

sianihedgehog · 05/01/2016 22:43

peachy same here, already had a round of scratching and hitting while feeding, and enough vomit for three clean tops, one bodysuit and two grobags. :( I can't even see straight.

Dozygirl · 05/01/2016 23:02

Slow thanks for that :)
I've been lucky I think in that my dd will settle by other measures other than bf but further down the lines I'll prob have issues trying to get her off her dummy instead.

I've discovered using the pram is the peferct way to get dd into a deep sleep and to continue napping once home. She hated the carry cot and car seat isn't safe for prolonged sleeping so since starting to use the big pram and because it's not raining I've been able to test it out. She slept for 2.5 hours. Amazing.

Also inadvertently realised that I shouldn't let her sleep after 5 pm so that I can get her down earlier in the evening. This is only the second day I've tried this. She needs some encouragement to go to sleep but it works eventuall . Tonight I discovered if I jiggled her tummy it mimicked me rocking her so she fell for it and went to sleep lol.

In other news our new way too expensive mattress arrives today so I can't wait to get into bed. Fingers crossed for no more painful back although since rushing out to but one ironically my backs been fine. Considering it's brand new though it smells quite bad but it might just be me. I'm sure it's musty but it shouldn't be.

Wishing u all lots of sleep mugabeans.

Fanby well done on the rolling. Clever mollster.

Tindel j looks super cute too.

Today I was eating a carrot and piper was supposed to be feeding off me at the same time but she was far to interested in me so I let her have a lic . She wasn't too sure at first but then she kept going back for more. It was raw though so I didn't let her eat any. She's not quite 5 months yet so I don't know when I can start her properly as blw doesn't allow anything till 6 months and I don't want to do purees. I have no objection to spoon feedING her but I want her to learn how to chew rather than just swallow.

kbb23 · 06/01/2016 00:59

So we had 3rd lot of jabs...worst yet. Thought they had gone well until bath time when ds suddenly got a temperature and has only slept in 10 min blocks since i put him down. Then at 11 he decided that was it been sat downstairs ever since whilst he deels sorry for himself. I hate jabs they make you feel so helpless

Fanby · 06/01/2016 01:15

Wow siani, that sounds like a lot of sick - hope he's ok; and mini peachy!!

Excellent nappage piper!! Hope you're having lovely dreams on the new mattress!!

Mugabes seems quiet, our first wake up was at 12:40, she's still feeding. Am to find a pattern clearly as it's been 1:30 ish on previous nights.

Going to try nipper story time tomorrow at the local library, not sure if she'll be a bit young but worth a whirl! Our local children's centre put out their new timetable today so ive signed up for Zumbini, baby yoga and a sleep workshop...sleep workshop isn't until end of March and I'm hoping she'll be sleeping 10hrs solid by then (yeah right!!!) but figured worth grabbing a place and then I can always cancel if needs be! Intrigued about the children's centre am yet to go!

Fanby · 06/01/2016 01:25

Kbb - missed your post sorry to hear about the rough jabs, hope he recovers quickly x

everythingispeachy · 06/01/2016 01:52

I'm here Ds has been awake since 12.30 had a little feed but has spent the past hour crying. Finally got him to stop and he is currently asleep but sobbing on my chest. It's going to be a long one. Line me up a shot or 20.

Kbb I hear you on the feeling of helplessess. It's awful.

Fanby your children's centre sounds great. It's nice to have things to do and look forward to.

Right I am going to dare close my eyes for a minute. Wish me luck

Tindel · 06/01/2016 02:21

Right, I'm here, where's my drink? Fed J to sleep, he woke up the minute I tried to put him down. DH bathed him in an attempt to settle him. I decided to go for the easy option of feeding him downstairs and let him sleep on me. He slept beautifully for 2 hours and then woke up when we tried to put him in his basket and go to bef. Cue another long feed and he finally went down at 1130. Now up again for a feed. So much for the easy option. DH was wittering about how I should get him to sleep for about 3pm to set him up for the night sleep - if it was that easy, I would, but he fights sleep at every opportunity!

Frolicacid · 06/01/2016 04:01

I'm here! BUT - I've just had 12-4, so am very pleased and ready for whatever he throws at me next!

Fanby · 06/01/2016 04:07

Oh too many people at the bar!! Peachy that sounds so tough, I really hope you (both) get some sleep.

Tindel - you're doing an excellent job there. I love our DH's helpful comments!! If only they knew

Frolic - onwards and upwards - sleep breeds sleep and all that jazz???

Dozygirl · 06/01/2016 04:52

Had a 1:30 wake up that settled with dummy and 4am wake up that needed a feed. She's now asleep and I'm awake. Loving the new mattress although it makes me a bit hot? Thought it was supposed to help cool u down. You have so many days to change it if u want. Will give it a few more tries.

sianihedgehog · 06/01/2016 05:13

Well, we got a block of about 3h of sleep. Not brilliant, but better than last night. I think I'm going to try to get DS up a bit earlier in an attempt to move bedtime forward. I only have a couple of months before I start back at work, and it'll probably be less horrendous if I'm not used to sleeping until half nine. And I really miss baby free time, it'd be lovely to have my evenings.

Fanby · 06/01/2016 05:45

Dozy - ooh random on the hotness! That's good that it gives you an option of return!!

Siani - I hear you sister!! Baby free time in the evenings would be immense!!

She started squawking in her cot like a dinosaur at 5, left her as long as I could. It's not sad squawking, more of ive found my voice. Decided to do a nappy change and now feeding her again in hope she'll go back to sleep for a few hours x

Tindel · 06/01/2016 08:26

J fed for an hour then wouldn't go back to sleep. Started out cheerful squawking and general rummaging around and then escalated to yelling. It got to 2 hours since the start of the previous feed and I could hear DH getting frustrated trying to settle him. Think I finally got back to sleep just before 5, having been woken just before 2. We need to get out the door this morning for something, so my alarm has just gone off, not woken J who is sound asleep. I feel utterly dreadful - I need more sleep than this, so can't imagine how grumpy J will be when I have to wake him up soon. I also miss our baby free evenings - now we've had a couple in the last week, I really want them back. Am hoping this is a growth spurt and it finishes soon.

Right, better get myself sorted before waking J - possibly an apologetic text to DH is due, I was extremely snappy by about 430 this morning
