Poor baby! He's sicky and was running a temp. 😷 hope it doesn't spread, I've had enough of sick children!

Tindel · 21/11/2015 18:18

Aaargh - just feeding J before handing him over to our friend to look after him before we go out. Stupidly nervous, but quite excited too, wish me luck!

mzzzf · 21/11/2015 18:53

Good luck Tindel - ENJOY!!!!

kbro79 · 21/11/2015 19:08

Have a great great great time Tindel!!

FattyNinjaOwl · 21/11/2015 19:19

Have a good time tindel

Oh and yes my mum is awesome. I speak to her practically every day and see her 2-3 times a week.

Look, we can have proper drinks in Mugabe nights! 🍸🍺🍻🍷🍹

Frolicacid · 21/11/2015 19:37

I've given up and gone to bed with Ds. He's fast asleep after struggling with naps all day. I wander if he'll be awake at stupid o clock now? We have been thinking about trying to get him down for the night earlier. Tonight seemed as good a night as any to start.

Enjoy your evening tindel.

Poor baby fatty. Germs are utter cunts. Loving the proper drinks, although I am still on ☕️ at the moment.

FattyNinjaOwl · 21/11/2015 19:54

I haven't had a real drink in over a year. I don't drink a lot. I love a good ☕ though.
Speaking if, I bought gingerbread syrup today.

everythingispeachy · 21/11/2015 20:34

Have a wonderful time Tindel!

Mzzf how about you tell dh that you get a lie in, a bath, go for a coffee whatever tomorrow while he looks after the baby. If you are going to do all the bedtime settling you need some time without the baby and he needs to find ways to bond with the baby in other ways. It can only be a good thing for everyone.

I went to lidl today and for my lunch I had a goats cheese foccacia, cheese twist and finished off with a chocolate twist. I wonder why I am not loosing this baby weightConfused

I am currently having a Wine I really missed it while pregnant. I am not a big drinker since having ds1 but I do really enjoy a glass of wine at the weekend.

Re make up have let it slip since giving up working but my skin isn't great, dry and spottyConfused so I feel better if I have put a bit of make up on in the morning just in case I go out or the postman knocks. He looks like Jared Leto!

I am going back to work in June or a bit later if we can afford it. I really like my job most of the time but honestly I am not missing it at the moment. I think that's because I feel fairly busy and have lots of little projects to keep me going. Ask me again in the middle of January and it might be different.

Has everyone seen the muppets crumpet advert? Ds1 made me play it 4 x yesterday and now I can stop humming it Smile

Hope everyone has a good night

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 21/11/2015 21:24

Evening all,

Sorry to hear that the germs have settled in for the long haul fatty and frolic. Nursing sick children when you are sick yourself really is the crappy end of parenting. The dwarfs seem to finally be over their cold of last week but have passed it on the DH. I was thoroughly unsympathetic (I suspected a case of the man flu's) but then he full on lost his voice today - oops Blush turns out he is actually ill!

The great bathroom fitting started off with a bang today, literally. Grumpy 1 and DH had great fun trashing stripping the bathroom ready for the new tiles. Grumpy 2 and I took a lovely long walk down the canal, the weather has been beautiful here today, in the new sling. I am really enjoying being able to carry her comfortably, it was well worth the purchase.

mzzzf am sure I am just echoing everyone else - and I also realise it is dangerous to comment on other peoples relationships (!) - but whilst I understand why you have taken the moral high ground on this one it does seem a touch unreasonable of your DH. You need downtime too, especially after a full day at home with DD, and sitting alone in a darkened room on settling duty doesn't really cut it. Plus, how will he ever get better at settling / soothing her if he opts out? It's a tough call, I'm not sure that I would have the stomach for the argument, but it doesn't feel entirely fair on you so here is the first Mugabe round of the night: Wine and Chocolate

Enjoy your night out tindel let us know how J got on with the sitter. You are very brave, we didn't manage a night out without grumpy 1 until she was 7 months old (needless to say we've not been out together since grumpy 2 was born).

everything it doesn't sound like chicken pox, the spots are very distinctive and come in discrete waves over the first three days so by now he would be covered in them. It could be a post-viral rash (grumpy 1 used to get them a lot) or something called molluscum contagiosum (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molluscum_contagiosum) which looks a bit like the pox but is harmless. If in doubt get your pharmacist to take a look. I like the sound of a postman that looks like Jared Leto. Ours is a crusty old gent and, yes, I have answered the door to him whilst bf'ing grumpy 2 so he has probably seen my tits Shock!

Ha ha nolonger I cant remember the last time I went to the loo by myself! We took the lock off the bathroom door when grumpy 1 was little so she couldn't lock herself in and since then it has been a free for all.

dozy definitely leave your DP with Piper for the day and a list of household tasks. It'll sort him out.

The rod for your back thing is BS IMO. At the end of the day it's only a 'rod' if you don't want to be doing it. If, in fact, whatever it is that you are doing that you are not supposed to be doing is making your life easier/more bearable then clearly its not an effing rod! And where are all these nappy wearing, bf'ing, co-sleeping 8 year olds anyway? Will someone point them out to me because I certainly have never met one!

Right, off to sleep as grumpy 2 has moved bedtime back again tonight to 7:45pm so heaven knows what obnoxious time we will be woken for the night feed Hmm

nolongerwaitingfornumber2 · 21/11/2015 22:49

Mugabe Augums, we have had a really lazy day at home today. I even got my bath and dyed my hair.

Ooh Jared Leto Everything - lucky you! Well provided you mean in his My So Called Life or current guise and not his grunge period which was frankly a waste.

Hope you have had fun Tindel! I have a night out a week on Monday so need to get expressing as we used up our stock last Sunday.

Grumpy, hopefully your walk will have tired Grumpy2 out so she sleeps a bit longer.

Mzzf and Kbro, how did bedtimes go tonight?

Get well soon to everyone with the lurgy!

I have a good feeling about tonight as DS did an enormous poo which has been brewing for days so fingers crossed he'll be more settled now it's out of his system!

Tindel · 21/11/2015 22:54

Had a lovely night - just had a curry, but it was nice to get out just the two of us. J did brilliantly with our friend - she has kids and loves babies. We decided not to do the bedtime routine, so J just slept on her while we were out. We even managed to settle him down upstairs without too much hassle. Off to the ILs tomorrow, so hoping we get a decent night's sleep after all

Frolicacid · 21/11/2015 23:09

Ds woke up 5 mins after my last post. He's spent the last 2+ hours doing five minutes each of eating, sleeping and crying. Dh, who also has a cold and had 3 hours in bed this afternoon at my suggestion, made a massive racket in the bathroom (which accounted for one waking) and didn't bother coming to offer any help at any point during the whole time. He's usually so good, I'm shocked at his thoughtlessness. I tried to explain this, which resulted in a big argument. Ds wee'd all over the bed while we were 'discussing' things. Needles to say I now feel worse than I have done all day. I really hope we get some decent sleep now.

Jared Leto lookalike postman everything? And yummy goodies from lidl for lunch? You are living my dreams Smile

Glad you had a good day and are loving your new sling slow. What did you get?
I hope the lurgy leaves your house quickly.

Cross fingers for lots of empty bowel induced sleep nolonger.

Glad you had a good night and that j was ok with your friend tindel. Much needed I'm sure.

Fanby · 22/11/2015 02:20

Sorry I haven't posted, having an emotional and knackered week...am here and reading away lol. Just making my 2nd visit to the bar tonight, been lurking in the shadows....

Sorry to all those with the lurgy. Hope you all feel better asap.

Happy sunday everyone else, I'm sure I'll be back posting with a-vengeance next week Smile.

x

Lilydreams · 22/11/2015 05:03

3 is the only hour number I've not seen on the clock tonight. I only got in bed at 12 as we watched celeb on +1- DS grumbled every 10-15 minutes from 12.40 till 2, slept for an hour then has been doing it since!! Sad I'm soooooooooo tired!! My rare lie in yesterday has now been totally undone!! I don't know what's up with him!!! He screamed from about 7pm last night till 9ish and was the most hysterical I've ever seen him- got hideously high pitched at one point that we considered whether something was really wrong but he settled eventually. I did give him calpol as he seemed in pain with something- maybe his tummy- he got louder every time he trumped and didn't poo yesterday which is unlike him. Have just fed him hoping it will settle him for more than 15 minutes! He took 4oz and has fell asleep on me but is still wriggling occasionally in his sleep. Going to try to put him back in bed now. Wish me luck

FattyNinjaOwl · 22/11/2015 05:12

I haven't been to sleep yet.
My phone died so has been on charge all night, every time I start to drift off one of my DCs gets up! (I have a 7 yo who co-sleeps sometimes, only when he is sick or scared though!)

I'm so going to bed as soon as DP arrives tomorrow/today!

FattyNinjaOwl · 22/11/2015 05:13

☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕
Extra strong for all those with "hangover"

mzzzf · 22/11/2015 07:39

Oh ladies have I all infected you with sleep-anemic babies too?! Sorry!

And thanks for all the lovely words of support, it's bloody awesome to have this place to rant and that you loonies understand and try and look out for me too. Honestly, if it hadn't been for this group, moving up here wouldn't have broken me due to lack of support.

So I won't bore you with tales of dd not sleeping in detail. I'm went up at 8pm, she went down properly about 11pm after I've put on anther blanket and a woolly cardie. Up for milk at 1pm but but but then when I put her down at 2.30 - she slept until 6am. That's 3 and a half whole hours of sleep!!!! GET IN! Grin

Oh god, this'll make you laugh. So I attempt to start her bedtime routine at 7.30, trotted upstairs to find the bed that DH had proudly made early all wrong. He put a superking quilt into a double duvet cover and had used odd pillow cases etc. now I'm a bit anal with the laundry cupboard and all the related bed stuff is all next to one another. So all our bedding for our bed is on one shelf etc. so god knows how he thought his pick and mix approach was right. I very diplomatically said to him "thanks for doing the bed but please ask if you're not sure which bedding is right". To which he replied "it's not that I'm not sure, it's that j thought I was right". Hahahahahaha! And therein lies the issues with the male of the species Grin
Made him help me change it then and there, despite his 'advice' that I could sleep in it anyway! I also think he's slept in a sleeping bag in the spare bed rather than make it up, but I'll leave that one for another time!

fanby was wondering where you'd got to!! All is not ok I'm guessing if it's an emotional knackering week?! Want to half the problem over a Bueno - I'm not bloody sharing the Bueno though, whole ones each!!

fatty question for you!! Is Nathan still on 8oz? I think I need to step mini mzzzf up to it. She's scudding 5 bottles of 7oz easily each day and still sucking like the clappers at the end of the bottle. Does Nathan has 8oz x 5?

I'll get brewing the super strong Colombian coffee I've got in the cupboard. It's Sunday so biscuits are allowed before 'breakfast' Grin
Double rations if you've got the lurgey!!

Giraffescandance1 · 22/11/2015 09:54

Morning all

Oh lilly fatty and all those with non sleeping babies, hope you get a break today and tonight goes better.

Mzzf that's a funny story about your dh Grin

I had a good night with baby giraffe, however older giraffe turned up at 4am, got into bed and wanted to play on my phone Confused dh is meant to 'look after' her in the night so I wasn't impressed, he slept through the shenanigans. So at 615 I took baby to him after I'd fed her and returned to bed to sleep uninterrupted until 8 Grin. One of my friends said you have to be really explicit when you need help from dh s, so that's my new approach.

Enjoy Sunday all!

FattyNinjaOwl · 22/11/2015 11:32

I phoned DP bright and early and crawled into bed for a coue of hours.
mzzzf yeah, he has 6 8oz bottles of hungry baby milk. Sometimes more if he's having a really hungry day, sometimes not so much. But its usually 6.
I was told not to give him anymore than 8oz at a time. (I've also been told I'm feeding him too much, followed by not enough as he's dropped ever so slightly below the 91st centile Hmm and to wean him)

Fanby · 22/11/2015 12:24

Ahh well last night wasn't fun, severe lack of sleep here, I got absolutely mortal at Mugabe Nights, hope I didn't show myself up!

We're on the train heading home to my folks, think a little break will do us the world of good. I'm going to have to get better at asking for help. Fingers crossed I'll be able to palm molly off to my mum every few hours for some sleep during the day on the days she's not working...although I'm finding it really difficult not being in the same room as her (molly) think I'm suffering from a bit of separation anxiety but I'm so exhausted I'm really not helping myself.

It's a chilly one today isn't it???! Brrrr! Happy Sunday to you all, here's to a fresh new week - it's going to be a good one I just know it! Let's try and inject some positivity Confused xxx

MaGratgarlik1983 · 22/11/2015 18:07

Hi all Sorry to have not posted in a while. DH and I went to a wedding on Friday and my parents had DS overnight eek! I still woke up in the hotel looking for him though! Had a good day today so far except just when I went for q shower and DS had an overtired meltdown for DH. He couldn't calm him then DS went to sleep on me. DH is upstairs now having some me time, think it really upset him that DS got so upset. These boys! Looking forward to strictly results!

Frolicacid · 22/11/2015 18:16

I won't bore you all with tales of a crapola Sunday chez infected frolic. But I will tell you that Every Time I cough (which is a lot) Ds absolutely pisses himself laughing! Thanks, son!

Let's hope Monday brings a better week for us all Smile

Slowifeandthegrumpydwarfs · 22/11/2015 21:04

Not a long post from me tonight, desperately need to catch some Zzzz's as Grumpy 2's recent penchant for an early bedtime does mean we are being awoken at the ungodly 3am again.

However, saw this and though of you frolic www.theguardian.com/travel/shortcuts/2015/nov/22/whats-tripadvisors-problem-with-welsh-reviews

Hope everyone with the lurgy is on the mend.

fanby seperation anxiety is entirely normal, it's a massive thing having a small helpless little being entirely dependent on you and thats bound to mess with the old head. I hope that you have a relaxing time with your folks and get some downtime for yourself.

mzzzf ah, your duvet story cracks me up. My DH regularly accuses me of rearranging kitchen cupboards and the like in a bid to confuse him and gets very grumpy when I point out that its just that he has forgotten where stuff lives in his own house!

Sending sleepy vibes to the Mugabe babies tonight and pots of strength to the Mugabe Mums to cope with whatever the small hours throw at us. Nighty night x

Fanby · 22/11/2015 21:13

Hope your pelvic floor is working frolic with all that coughing!!!

Slowwife - that article made me chuckle!! My mum is Welsh (well she was born there, moved when she was 5 lol)

Molly is trying out a cot at my parents tonight...took her 3 nights to get used to her one at ours, wish me luck lol! x
