Hi sfx.
We bought a toilet seat as dd1 hated the potty to begin with. Much easier than emptying potties and no drama going from potty to toilet either. We have one with a built in step and handles and so she could be quite independant too. She loved it however went throguh a phase of loving the potty too. I did not wnat to be carrying the potty around either so got a fold up padded seat to use which is great fro travelling.

Hello and welcome. I'm due in 2 weeks on sunday () so wasn't going to think about potty training for a little bit! But like you, SFX, was thinking of just going for a toilet seat, the idea of cleaning out a potty - urgh. (why does the idea turn my stomach when I've been merrily changing nappies for nearly 19m?? )
A question from me to you all now, does anyone else's Junie have a really weird thing about hating new clothes? ds goes mental every time we try something new on. Once he's used to it, he's ok. He even did it with a new bib at lunchtime today, despite it being the exact same sort as one he already has. Odd kid!

Bubbaloo · 04/01/2007 18:19

2Happy-lol at the new bib.

Ds is ok with new clothes but try and give him a new beaker and he refuses to drink from it.He also still has a bottle before bed and I've tried attaching the "Magic Cup" handles(Avent one) to it,but he just screams and I've also tried taking the teat off and putting the beaker spout on instead and he's the same.

On the potty side of things,I'm not even thinking about it for at least another 6-9 months. After he's dirtied his nappy,he does go and get a clean one,but until he knows when he's about to mess his nappy,I can't see much point. Also,I don't want the extra stress of potty training and trying to see to a newborn-stupid to give myself extra work.

Have a wonderful day of hospital appointments tomorrow with my GTT in the morning, then I'm off to see a specialist in the afternoon re:a mole on my leg-oh what fun!!

Hope everyone is well.xxx

Girt, it sounds like you have similar timings to me. DS1 (again obviously) is 2 in June and bump is due at the end of May.

2happy, oooh, it?s so close now!!! Keep us posted!!!!

Don?t have any issues with clothes yet. I do have a v.pedantic toddler, who as soon as he gets a microdot of food on his hands, starts complaining and refuses to eat anything else until the offending speck has been removed. Does this mean I?m going to have a clean and tidy boy in later life?

Happy new year everybody!

Jonah - I certainly do hope that is the case! DS also likes to be throughly clean... but after the meal!

On the potty training subject, is funny you ask girt (wellcome by the way). I was on holliday in a warm part of the world and ds deceded to go nappieless. I decide to go with the flow and see what happened... We had only a few accidents, and he was happy to use the toilet with me holding him (i.e. no training seat, as this whole experience wasn't planned...). Dh thinks I am mad, but I decide to plunge along for the moment. He is not doing so well with trousers on... so maybe DH was right.... But if you don't mind accidents, try and see what happens... FWIW, DD was fully trained before 2 (but pretty close to it).

on the issue of clothes dd loves clothes will try them on straight away parading in front of mirror saying 'pretty' especially dresseswhere she got this from i do not know
oh yes she asked the postman the other day if the parcel he handed me was 'dwesses?' granted she just had one delivered the previous day

more and more convinced we should just go for the toilet option instead of potty

Hi all
Lua - You made it back! That is great news on the toilet training. You have reminded me that dd1 got it v quickly when she could run around naked but with clothes was another issue completely. It has made me think that I might give it a crack in the summer when it is warmer (depending on dd2 of course) so the running around naked thing can be done....

Hello all

Glad to hear the junies all enjoyed christmas, my ds got a thomas set and is now uttterly obsessed with trains.

He's language skills are improving although no real sentances yet, but is trying to say lots of words. Not much hapening on the potty front here, he seems to like his nappies and if you take it off he wants it back on

Lua-thankyou so much for your wishes, very much needed.

I guess Lua has spilt the beans. I have first ultrasound tomorrow should be 8 weeks. Although I'm sooo scared as I've had the three previous missed m/c's.

think I will settle for one child if this doesn't work out. I'm very thankful for him.
