Just had a look on Uki's ante-natal thread and she's got a bean! With a heart beat! Measuring right for dates too.

Great news Uki.

2Happy · 08/01/2007 12:03

Oh I'm so pleased for Uki! What fantastic news!

Skyler - no, dh infected me with his man flu, nothing as exciting as labour keeping me up! Felt really ill, though, so just as well the baby didn't decide to arrive! Starting to improve today. ds had cough/runny nose too, but not the fever that dh and I have had - don't know if it's because he's fighting it off, or because he's about to go down with it, and he's due his pneumococcal vaccine on wednesday. Junies who have had it - did you get a bad reaction from it or was it ok?

Bubbaloo · 08/01/2007 13:09

Uki-Excellent News.

2Happy-Shame about the coughs and colds.Dh was off all last week with man flu.Luckily it hasn't reached me...yet.
Oscar is off for his Prevenar Jab at 2pm today,so I'll let you know.

All is well here.I had my GTT on Friday morning,so hopefully that'll all come back ok.I also had a mole removed from my leg Friday afternoon which has been replaced with stitches-yuk.Have to wait til the 24th for those results.

Hope you are all well.x

Skyler · 08/01/2007 20:55

Hello
Fingers crossed for you Bubbs
Uki - YAY YAY YAY!!
2happy - Hoping for a quick recovery and then the baby

lummox · 08/01/2007 21:09

uki - that's brilliant, many congratulations.

hope everyone is well. am 37.5 weeks - at the sitting waiting stage and trying (mostly vainly) to stock up on sleep before number 2 arrives. ds still seems pretty oblivious to the whole business - am hoping that this doesn't make it an even worse shock for him.

2happy - ds was fine with the prevenar but had a very scary reaction to MMR (nasty fever, then couldn't walk properly and had continuous tremors in his hands for two days, covered in spots and very unhappy). All seems fine now, four weeks on, so I guess it was just one of those things, but was not good at all.

hope everyone else is well.

Skyler · 08/01/2007 21:17

Oh Lummox, good luck to you too.
Glad ds is recovered from his MMR how scary.
Forgot to say dd2 had no real reaction to the new jab. I did give her some calpol just in case though as per HV advice.

Lua · 08/01/2007 21:21

YAY UKI! Very happy for you! Keep us updatde!

bubbs - good luck for you! Gtt sucks, but GD sucks even more!

Lua · 08/01/2007 21:23

oh dear Lummox! What a scare! What did the docs say? any explanation?

I am glad he is recovered now!

Uki · 09/01/2007 10:24

THANKYOU everyone
It is absolutely lovely to log on and see all your good wishes and congrat's. Put a tear in my eye to know you were all thinking of me and must have helped. Thankyou

Yes baby bean is well and wriggling 8+5,

as I said on my ante-natal thread I couldn't look at the screen I was so nervous, and the sonographer asked
"do you want to look at the baby"

and I said "NO, only if it's good news" and she said "yes it was"
starting to feel pg now, but wanting also to see how next weeks scan goes too.

I'm really enjoying ds at the moment, It's just such a cute and wonderful age. His favourite word is 'more' it's nearly more useful than 'nah' which was previous fav word.

lummox-enjoy the rest, not long now, exciting!!! poor ds though what a full on reaction to MMR.

Mrs Wed - Hi Again, you are my first mn friend so nice to see you again

Sfx -sorry to hear of m/c's, yes pg after m/c is not fun to say the least, the ladies on ttc after m/c and pg after m/c have been saviours though. I have much better dr's and care now, and I am some med that seems to be working well with the crossed fingers.

Hi to everyone else/What's news????

sfxmum · 09/01/2007 12:08

uki - glad to hear all is well, such a relief

lummox - best of luck for the last stretch and birth (waiting to hear what happens to that placenta as had same prob last time)
and blimey that MMR reaction sounds scary!

bubaloo - guess its a biopsy? hope all goes well

things quiet and ok here, dd talking loads and very good company. i have somehow hurt my arm and it hurts from shoulder to fingers, not nice hope it gets better soon, pref. without intervention

wave to everyone else

lummox · 09/01/2007 18:21

Thanks for the good wishes. I've been looking back at some of the old Junie threads and am really wondering what things will be like this time.

On the MMR thing we don't really know much. When I finally plucked up the courage to do some research I found that walking problems are not uncommon and have never been found to be permanent. Just wish someone had told me that before.

Bubbs - good luck with your results.

Uki - more is pretty popular here too. getting progressively louder and more urgent as I cast around to see what he might want more of.

2happy - am lurking on the January thread. It makes everything seem a bit more real now that so many January babies have been born.

JonahB · 09/01/2007 21:43

Uki, congratulations!!!!!!!

2happy/Lummox ? best of luck to you both. What I want to hear is that it is FAR FAR easier the 2nd time around ? less pain, less stitches and much much quicker ?

If you do arrange a northern meet up, I?d love to join you, if that?s okay. I haven?t been able to make the last couple, which really disappointed me.

Not much news from here. Halfway there now. Looking like a beach ball already. Slightly worryingly, I?m getting pains in where I think SPD pains emanate from.

Hope everyone else is well??..

katzg · 09/01/2007 21:53

right northern meet it is - i'm happy to host it again but you guys travelled last time.

OP posts:
Bubbaloo · 09/01/2007 22:53

Jonah-Sympathies on the SPD front,as I had it quite bad last time.Touch wood,it doesn't seem too bad at the mo.I'm also waiting to hear how much easier it is second time around.I even bought 2 packets of Raspberry Leaf tea and some Clary Sage oil today,in readiness.

2Happy · 10/01/2007 08:30

Jonah - ooh SPD, I hope not for your sake. It sounds the pits.
Lummox - hello fellow whale Wow, what a scary vaccination reaction. ds seemed better in himself yesterday, think I may phone HV before I set off and see what she thinks.
Bubbaloo - my mum certainly had a faaaar easier 2nd labour, and since my fisrt was v similar to her first, I'm hoping for that too (except the going horribly over and being induced bit, though I suspect that's exactly where I'm headed!) How was Oscar after monday?
Uki - good luck for the scan next week too

Bubbaloo · 10/01/2007 09:17

2Happy-Is it today you're going for the jab?
Oscar was absolutely fine and only screamned for about 10 seconds when she done it.I';m sure he's getting used to doctor's and hospitals now.Touch wood,he has been fine since-no temperature and he's his normal happy self which is good.

Had a call from the London Hospital yesterday and they've finally re-scheduled his operation for the 15th Feb which is good.Only downside is we're about 40 mins(and longer in the rush hour!)and we've got to be there for 7.30am,grrrr.Oh well...can't be helped I suppose.

Took the dressing off my leg the other day and it now looks like I have a squashed spider on my knee instead of a mole-can't wait for the stitches to come out.

Hope everyone is well.x

katzg · 10/01/2007 09:23

hey bubb - my second labour (with DD2 my Junie) was much quicker than my first and natural. With DD1 i was induced after PRM (waters breaking and no contractions). DD2's labour was very quick and relatively painless, just look back at the last Junie ante-natal threads for confirmation.

OP posts:
Skyler · 10/01/2007 16:17

Hi
Jonah - it is FAR FAR easier the 2nd time around ? less pain, less stitches and much much quicker
Does that make you feel better???
Seriously though I had to be induced with dd2 (my Junie) and I was dreading it but after a morning walking around after my waters were broken and nothing happening I was put on a drip and dd2 came fast. The pain wasn't great as there was no real break with contractions but I managed with just a couple of puffs of G&A and because of having had a baby previously I knew she was on her way even though the midwives didn't and that gave me the strength. She was here in 2 hours and I felt SO much better after than I did with dd1's long water birth. So don't panic about being induced. I was dreading it and doing everything to avoid the drip but in hind sight I wish they had got me going on it sooner. I was much less tired. The worst bit was having the bloody needle put in my wrist and then them not taking it out for ages (Why???), oh and having to stay on the drip after she was born. No-one told me they have to keep going with the drugs to wind your body down too. They made me feel sick, but it was all over when they stopped it. My births were very different but both good, and actually I preferred dd2's in lots of ways because she arrived so quickly.
Good Luck to you all.
It is so exciting.
Bubb - Glad Oscar has a date for his op but that early start will be a pain. Good Luck to you too. xx

Skyler · 10/01/2007 16:19

That bit about induction was aimed at 2happy BTW

2Happy · 10/01/2007 19:54

Thanks, Skyler, it's lovely to hear positive 2nd birth stories, and especially one that involved induction. Obv I'd rather not if possible, but I also don't want to only imagine myself waking up in the middle of the night, contracting a few hours, going into hospital and coughing it out on G&A - I think a bit of realism is a good thing! My mw keeps telling me that the 2nd birth is the easiest one you'll ever have (not sure how many she thinks I'm going to have ), I just really don't want it to end up like ds (although, of course, the outcome was fine anyway). Never mind, work is having it's "christmas" night out (!) on 27th Jan in a curry house, so if I haven't popped by then I'm going along to have a vindaloo!
Hi Bubbs, yes it was today. Took him along and they were happy he was well enough for it. He's a bit grumpy this evening with 3 blotches where the jab was, but nothing major so far, fingers crossed for the rest of the night! 7.30 at the hospital for Oscar what time start will that be for you then?? Hope the stitches come out ok, squashed spider, lol!

Lua · 10/01/2007 21:37

Another one that says second time is much easier, even with induction!
My first was two weeks late, and with the second they induced me at 40 weeks due to GD.
I was sure I was heading to a CS as I wasn't dilates at all. But after two days of waiting patiently, the pessaries plus a bl**dy painful sweep, DS came out really fast and without no stitches!

Bubbaloo · 10/01/2007 22:22

Think I'm really looking forward to the birth this time, what with all these fast and easy deliveries.

2Happy-Glad you managed to get the jab done.Oscar has a small mark where the needle went in but that's all. Those blotches will probably be faded by the morning.
I'm guessing we'll have to leave between 6-6.15am for the hospital as we'll probably get stuck in the rush hour traffic. It's so annoying his op can't be done at our local hospital where he actually saw the surgeon. At least it's only day surgery and all being well,he'll be out by the evening.
Btw...I tried hot curries for over week when pg last time and nothing happened.Sat on a gym ball for a few hours and my waters broke-maybe try that.

katzg · 11/01/2007 09:46

well DD2 is finally having her MMR next week on thursday - but at the Children's hospital under obs. will also ask then about her prevnar

OP posts:
Skyler · 11/01/2007 11:23

Katz they may do it at the same time although unlikely with your dd's complications. I think the current lot having the MMR are having the prevenaar at the same time.
Bubb - I have to have a mole off from my face. Do they just do it under a local? I am a bit fed up as I was told this today and also got a letter saying my last smear was abnormal so I have to have a repeat in 6 mths. I think I am more fed up that I have to have another smear so soon actually as I think abnormal results are quite common?? I think I might start a thread....

Bubbaloo · 11/01/2007 11:30

Skyler-Can't really comment on the smear, but I think it is fairly common to have an abnormal result.I know a few people who have had an abnormal result and it hasn't been anything to worry about.
Yes,it was a local they used on my leg and I didn't feel any pain at all.The stitches aren't even bothering me either,so that's good.Saying that my mum had a mole removed from her face about 20 odd years ago and she had a general, although her mole was alot worse than mine.
